I have been using OpenCart for last 6 yrs or so and I find it very easy to use and also very easy to customize according to your requirements. You can add plenty of free plugins and themes to it and also some paid themes and features also available.

Nachteile

Some features of plugins are not compatible with new versions of OpenCart which is kind of disappointment.

Vorteile

This is a open source online store management programe. we can manage multiple online stores from in a single place.

I most like in this platform is this has various templates. It means different kind of templates. I love it.

Nachteile

For a beginner, they can't handle their work and sometimes they can't manage their work.

Very hard to update or modify this.

Its lightweight code and extensibility i mean you can literally do anything you want just with some knowledge of php and its working inside out(which can be done in less than a day), i was hired to create an ecom website for a client and i decided to give it a try just for fun but the final result was awesome and client liked the work and i appreciated it for making that time enjoyable for me.

Nachteile

The community support is lacking for this beautyful piece, and some plugins which i don't want to code cause they are not required for every needs are like over the roof i mean comeon whats the point of asking 100+ bucks for a plugin that only used once for a website is not reasonable i think.

We absolutely love that it is initially a free platform. Competitors charge for the platform and then charge for features, but OpenCart has a wide range of extensions that perform what you want, the way you want. High-quality platform-wide access to have a large amount of customization and control over your store.

Nachteile

We do not favor how limited the base platform is on shipping integration, fraudulent order monitoring, or promotional sale control. These are all available as add-ons but are necessary for the majority of businesses, even when they are starting out as a new company.

Tried to implement for clients twice and all went right! As I expected its very good open engine to devevlop eCommerce platform. We have categories, products, attributes and attr groups, manufacturers - all works well and simple. We can manage the layout theme, language, adv banners. Its ready for SEO. Sales reports and orders have everything we need. And most important - its free for use!!!

Nachteile

One thing is annoying - products in backend are not listed in categories - just plain list with all of htem in one place. Not good.

- lucking in setup instructions (they put it in read-me file, stooped )
- Security is the big issue here (you must to take care about this issue)
- it comes with nothing, you need to go adding extensions one by one; and note that all of these is not free; free extensions are poor

The tools were pretty easy to figure out, and as the title says, it's a pretty good starting point for those just getting started. The system is stable, and it has good technical support when you find bugs of have a question. There are a lot of learning resources as well, so that's a plus.

Nachteile

While templates are nice, some do require additional work to get looking and functioning correctly. Without coding experience, you may need to buy additional add-ons to get extra features you need.

Super easy to set up, you can get a store online in just a few hours. Very beginner friendly, of course, you need some web knowledge, but other than that, nothing much to know.

Nachteile

While you can do a lot of things with OpenCart, they are pretty basic. Updates tend to break it, and it is pretty difficult to custom theme correctly. Overall, not worth the hassle.

OpenCart was not an intuitive experience for us. It was difficult trying to get it to do anything we wanted unless we wanted it to be a generic looking Ecommerce template site.
