This software is very user friendly, it's easy on the eyes and very simple to navigate. It runs really smoothly. I have only been using it for about 5 months so I haven't ventured into certain aspects.

Nachteile

There are a few features that are wanting. Seeing/sorting screen fails, separating new submissions of imaging from ones that have already been downloaded, quick buttons to visit forms.

Vorteile

I like the ease of building, and the support received. The response time from the help desk is second to none.

Nachteile

It would be nice to have another table set up option.

I do not like it at all. I have used many different electronic data capture form programs. This is one of the very worst. It is not user friendly; it is cumbersome to use. I hate it.

It is very easy to design Electronic Case Report Forms using Greenlight Guru Clinical. The variety of question and answer types has made it very quick and efficient to tailor forms to how we want them to be presented. Other features such as adding validation rules are also very easily implemented making the process very straightforward.

Nachteile

Reminders for participants to complete forms are currently sent automatically, it would be ideal if reminders could be sent manually too.

Extremely intuitive and user friendly design which meant very minimal training for sites staff and no time spent answering questions about use of database after SIV. Several sites praised how easy it was to use compared to usual EDCs.
The customer service team has always been very quick and helpful when answering our queries about potential changes to study forms.

At the time I used the EDC review of live data without extraction on the website was quite minimal, more tools to review and summarise data without having to download it would be helpful.

The interface is user-friendly and easy to add and find data. The user can easily navigate to the tabs and panes so one is able to see if data is missing or incorrect. It's also easy to toggle between panes when looking for information.

Sometimes the website is slow and just loading for a while.

Many features for data entry. Depending on the design of the eCRF, there are many ways to match source data based on the available features. The symbols are clear in the way that it shows when a form is incomplete, complete, etc.

View for visits and navigation ease is bad. You cannot navigate between visits without leaving page and entering participant view again.

Creating forms requires switching back and forward between "edit" and "preview" to monitor the layout.
Labelling of the data variables is not easy - the final label could be visualised - to see it, I need to simulate a data download into excel - this is laborious!!
No cloud shared storage of forms used in the work group available. Acessing forms created by others needs to be invited to the related study - not comfortable to use, if standard forms with edited labels for variables should be consequently re-used across multible studies and multible colleagues.

It was fast and easy to get to grips with the application. As we built your first study new features were quickly learnt. Whilst feature rich, it isn't overly complicated and has just enough flexibility for our requirements.

Nachteile

When previewing a form, it would be very, very time productive to be able to edit a question as you preview it. Currently I write changes in a notepad and then go back and make changes on mass. Not time productive.

Tables could be presented better and have more robust sorting features (sorting isn't saved between page views). I'd also like to be able to manually drag/sort table rows so I know where I have been when editing multiple forms. Jumping in and out of forms and then back to the forms overview table can be disorientating and take time to readjust. I use a notepad to create manual notes as I do work. Just another extra step.

Personally I also would like to be able to turn off the animations (slide up) between page transitions. This can also be disorientating.

I would like to be able to create and save custom roles for collaborators. Having to manually pick a custom role every time for multiple people isn't time-productive.

There are 'Process show' rules. I would also like 'Process hide' rules. It is possible to hide questions and processes, but it is a bit counter-intuitive and can create complicated workflows.

I'd like a Timed-One-Time-Password (TOTP) option for signing in. Also I'd like the flexibility to choose how long it takes until I get logged out. Something like "Remember me for 3 hours".

First of all I am satisfied with the ease of use of Smart-Trial from Data Manager perspective. Creating new studies is really simple, logical, intuitive and new features are systematically added allowing to build a study exactly the way I want. Building a new study is a pleasure.
Once the study is up and running and patient data is collected, everything works as expected as well. Data managers and CRAs have no problems reviewing and verifying data or managing queries, while site users are finding their way around the new EDC with ease. Of course there are features that could be improved, but these are by no means disqualifying factors, but rather something that would further enhance the value of the system.
Customer service from Smart-Trial deserves a separate comment - everything works here at the highest level and every request or question is always met with a professional and helpful approach.

Nachteile

As I mentioned when writing about the advantages, there are a few minor details that could be improved, but they are rather tiny things that would be nice to have and they in no way diminish my evaluation of Smart-Trial. For example:
- There should be a possibility to open more than 1 query per question,
- The ability to export a list of queries to an excel file would be valuable.
- Currently there are 2 types of data verification, e.g. for CRA and DM, but sometimes a third backup type of verification could be useful, e.g. for Medical Monitor or Pharmcovigillance.
- I think it would be a good idea to implement "view-only" items, i.e. items that would pull data from one form and display it on another. In this way, it would be possible, for example, to pull laboratory normal ranges for a particular patient from one data event and display them on another.

Vorteile

Easy to set-up and full control over amendments after initial release. Excellent customer support, the SMART-TRIAL team is always available, happy to help and eager to constantly improve their product in response to your feedback.

Nachteile

The ability to track data in a smart and convenient way. Although data export has been much improved it is still not satisfactory to my needs.

The product support and flexibility of the offer. The system well supports our research aims and data collection requirements and will enhance our processes to make them more streamlined.

Nachteile

It is not perhaps quite as intuitive and simple to set up trial processes as I would expect, however, support is there.

Easy to learn how to build our study and to train our sites on how to use it. We had very little time and not a lot of money when we had to find a system that would fit our demands and could be launched fast.
We are still developing our study and there are some very nice features which have been released recently, that we will implement in a study amendment.
Provided templates are very nice (SOP, training log etc)

It would be nice to have a graphical presentation of how for example specific lab values are changing over time, i.e. in our case how PSA values change over time.

First of all the product is easy to use and also to set up, if you have the forms and process planned setting it up took no time. Smart-Trial then also gives you the possibility to integrate your own processes and products with it through their API, that is absolutely awesome and was very important for our trial. Finally, Smart-Trial's support team is very professional and responsive, never experienced this with other products.

Nachteile

We wanted to see continuous outcome measure from smart devices supported when we started the trial and ease of use to export those measurements. Now I actually see that it has already been implemented which is positive

I find the software easy to use and I am very happy that I can set up the questionnaire myself.
I am also pleased with the assistance I get from the help-desk when needed.

It would be nice to be able to use matrices (tables do not work in the same way) and I would also like to have the option of horizontal Likert skales.

The product was very easy to set up, customize and get going . I could set up a study in a matter of days and be ready for data collection within a week. The Smart-Trial team was always available to answer any questions in a timely matter and assist when needed. Some features were missing in the beginning, however after talking to the product team they were able to listen to what features were important for us and implement them in one of their future hotfix releases. Overall, I would recommend this product to everyone.

One feature that would be very useful to implement is the ability to add rows as needed to a table so you do not have to have a predetermined number of rows which may often consist of blank rows.

As a chief investigator I've found SmartTrials to be incredibly efficient piece of software. It is intuitive to use for all research team members. The functionality on setting up a trial is very easy to navigate. Being able to remotely view data and troubleshoot when running a multi centre trial is invaluable.

Nachteile

I'm pleased to see they have added a randomisation function to the software. At the time of our set-up this wasn't available but is a huge bonus having all aspects of the trial under one system.

The SMART-TRIAL software is easy to use and has more than enough customizing features to adjust everything to our needs. The service itself is also very good: we received on-site training, were assisted during the set-up of our study, and can at any time expect to receive swift replies to our questions. In addition, we have experienced that comments and tips are thankfully received, and in time also incorporated into the software when possible.

For our type of study, we have not encountered any major feature that is missing.
