Epic is good.
I have no issues with this product. It is a much needed program in the healthcare industry.
Vorteile
I like how easily it is to access information that is needed for patients diets, allergies and any other information needed for our colleagues need to give the patients the care needed.
Nachteile
Once you get to know how to use the program, it is pretty simple. If you go through the training, you can pick it up easily.

The only negative comment regarding Epic is the lack of compatibility with anesthesia codes and chargers.

New User
Being able to access all patient information in one window is great!

I loved that everything is on one system. IE: medical records, contact with patient, contact with other providers, access to multiple encounter notes from different providers

I understand it is HIPPA compliant but it is kind of annoying to have to log in and out every time.

Unifying, and makes a difference on the side of the patient
This is a software implemented by so many hospitals, and so being able to access patient information, or send it to a new pertinent facility is so important. 10/10 would recommend!
Vorteile
The sheer size of this software's implementation to hospitals nationwide makes it able to consolidate a patient's entire medical record into one place- which is no easy feat! It was a large problem and hassle to receive someone's medical records from one facility to another because of how much security the information needed to be handled with
Nachteile
It is a little hard to train SO many employees in how to properly use this software- however it has definitely been shown to be worth it in the end.

Industry leader- but plenty of limitations

Epic is the industry leader- if you are working in a large healthcare system, you likely don't have a lot of choice in your EMR. Smartsets, smart notes and other efficiencies are built into the system
Nachteile
Not intuitive. Rigid functionality. Limited ability to think outside of the box in inventive ways- especially for complex and multidiciplinary care environkments. Limited ability to export, print and manipulate data- leading to the use of 'work around' spreadsheets which go against the point of centralizing data.

Great Software
Vorteile
When I first started working at a hospital, the software they was using was MediTech. I thought it was an okay system until we switched over to Epic!!! I love it. You can get around with ease, everything is right there, you don't have to search for things, and I love the colors.

There was absolutely nothing I didn't like about this software.

Excellent Program
My experience with EpicCure EMR is nothing but positive. Would defiantly recommend this program to anyone.

Vorteile
Very ease to use and the user interface is very appealing and it makes the user’s job very easy. Also easy for new users.

It can be very overwhelming at times. Hard to grasp some of the functionalities and the different templates that epic has.

Has the tools to get the job done for Physical Therapy documentation.
Vorteile
I like that it is simple once explained to you. For physical therapy, I use what I need to but not there is a lot of extra information because I am in a hospital setting which is beneficial to other healthcare workers but not always necessary for me.
Nachteile
Sometimes, there seems to be too much info and options to choose from to view what a person is looking for. There are many different ways to do one simple task and I think it should be narrowed down to how to do it in one way.

Flexible Product
This is truly a great product and the customization is unlimited. I have worked with this software in several healthcare setting and was amazed how customized it was to the specific entity.

The programs were easy to use and the ability to integrate voice technology to make documentation easier
Nachteile
It took a while to learn but once you did, it had a tremendous power as a documentation system. I found it difficult to organize the miscellaneous records at times and especially in a large organization, it was difficult to find scanned documents.

Why does it take weeks and weeks of training by “red-shirts” and we still don’t know what we’re doing?

Navigation of consult lists is a very intuitive and user friendly part of the tool. I also like the flow sheets have the ability to be linked to selected notes.

Too many bugs at times when new releases of certain functionalities of the tool initially occur.

Very comprehensive EHR with multiple ways to view information. Allows for significant levels of customization and "permissions" for users of all different areas using the system.
Nachteile
LOTS of clicks to get to where you want and see what you want. The ways to view images and labs are very cumbersome.

Easy access to sign on, easy to check patient medications.
Nachteile
Ever time you get to understanding the system, there is an update that changes everything. So, then you have to learn to do a different way. By the time you get that down, there is a new update that changes it.

It has a broad range of records on multiple patients from different facilities. There are imaging, labs, consults, referrals, and office notes of importance of all patients who have been to a medical hospital or facility in the area that is connected to epic's program.
Nachteile
It is broad and can be confusing to understand. Also, not all programs and facilities are connected to epic so we have to request records instead of grabbing them off epic ourselves.

A drop in the bucket that is EMR industry
There are healthcare systems and facilities that are more focused on a passive healthcare approach and I know one specifically I have worked with in Virginia that has actually created from scratch their own EMR system (using their on staff software engineers) that focuses more on the patient as opposed to the turnover.
Vorteile
This software is easier to use than many of the main stream EMR/EHR systems. Templates are useful and simple to set up.
Nachteile
I feel that most EMR or EHR systems are geared towards patient turnover and while a lot of FQHC facilities may focus on patient turnover for revanue indicators. Epic could stand to benefit from marketing software to facilities that don't focus on patient turnover.

Way Too Many Features
I am no longer an active user of EpicCare EMR, but overall, the few weeks that I had training on it prior to launch, I was not a fan.
Vorteile
The best feature of this EMR is the widespread availability of records for patients across the country and across many providers.
Nachteile
When you are opening a new chart, there is far too much on the screen at once and the clutter on the screen makes using it for the first time difficult for users.

Best EMR System
I find this the best EMR system. It is very easy to navigate between documents and write orders & notes. A lot of valuable presets and ability to create templates. As a med student I used a lot of different systems and this is my favorite!

Fairly easy to learn and use. It has all the information needed to access pt medical history, test results, drug guides and new and old orders.
Nachteile
Instruction on use of product was weak. I kept looking for a back button. I need to emphasize that there is no back button. Too many columns for procedure documentation. What about care plans? Seem to be fading.

Is it EPIC?
Overall, I believe this is good for major health organizations, but not as useful to a smaller non-profit.
Vorteile
Al of the bigger health systems changed over to EPIC in 2019. I am not sure if the pros outweigh the cons of having to start a brand new EMR.
Nachteile
It is a major overhaul to the system and not everything can be imported from a past system. Not sure if we will find this helpful.

Slow response in large practice. There's too much "data input" required directly by MD/NP providers which would normally be delegated to a nurse assistant or medical technicial.

Intuitive Software
Vorteile
I loved all the different features there were and how many different aspects there were to customize your EPIC sign in to your liking. I loved the custom tool bar and the different drop downs that I can pin in the order I liked as well. As a part of a younger generation, I feel as though there wasnt a big learning curve at all.
Nachteile
I personally did not have any problems or any cons for this software. Everything was easy to use for me.
