Software very good, customizable

I like the software a lot very detailed and able to customize it to your preferences. Not very good at being able to move around on the takeoff screen. Customer support is so so. What ever you do do not finance through Marlin Finance there recommended finance company there are very dishonest and should not be trusted research bbb before you have any dealings with them.

My Experience with the Edge

Since the very first time I've used The Edge I knew I was using the most advanced estimating software in the market. The easy ways to navigate, set up templates and customize the program is what it makes it an outstanding program for estimators.
I like the idea of having a powerful tool to perform a detail roofing estimate. The up loading of digital plans became handy over the years and eliminates the use of a cumbersome digitizer tablet.
The customization of the database made my job much easier than ever. Now is just create a job bring my customized template and voila, a detailed estimate for a re-roof or new construction in a matter of minutes.

The EDGE is like any other program, if you learn to use it properly and are willing to experiment with its boundaries, you will do well.

I am an intermediate user of AUTOCAD, when i am stuck with something i go to the internet to find a way to get the results i want from the program and usualy stumble on to another user that has the same issue or desire.

Does this exist for the EDGE.

Simplified estimating with the EDGE!

EDGE helps us quickly estimate large projects with ease, and perform material take-offs for better budgeting. It's not typically helpful for smaller projects, where the data entry required makes it inefficient. EDGE is not a daily or weekly use software for us, but in the right situations has been a very effective tool.

Adjustable and Capable

The edge is adjustable and easily customized to meet just about any estimate style and configuration. If you want to estimate by the square foot , lineal foot, cubic foot, piece, each or just any configuration or size you can set up a condition. Each condition items are easily added and the more you customize yourself the more understanding of how unlimited this system actually is.

I have been a customer of the Edge from when Lee was selling it door to door. He said that if you can do it with a pencil and paper I could do it on The Edge. That was true then and it is still true today. Only being, it is much more accurate and faster. When I bought The Edge System it was a DOS program. Since being upgraded to a Windows based program I believe it is the most adaptive software in the industry. It can easily be configured to your own specific needs. When I need to call customer support they are very responsive and stay with the issue until it is 100% resolved.

Not too happy with maintenance and fees.

When originally purchased for multiple users, we were promised a database that each user could change, but after purchase they wanted an add on fee for that privilege. Recently increased maintenance fee to pay per user which resulted in drastic increases, but less service provided and will not maintain current system. None of our requests are ever filled for database errors found and will only work on their new system that was promised over a year ago. They suggest a work around for errors instead of fixes, but will not alleviate the maintenance fee for which they provide nothing for.

Very customizable

The edge software is a very customized piece of software that gives you the ability to accurately takeoff your material and create a bid. The learning curve is quite steep though and takes a long time to work around issues. I wish it was more user friendly.

Very Good Company ang Very Good Software

I have been using The EDGE for the past twenty plus years (too many to remember exactly how long). I have seen it grow from a Dos based version (v. 4.2) to what it is today. I have been very satified with the Program. Their training and customer support cannot be beat. I just hope my competation never learns about it. It hard enought to beat them as is. All kidding aside, I would recomment it to any roofing contractor who wants to be at the top of the roofing industry in their area.

The Edge Review

I started with the Edge many many years ago when it first came out. I wasn't all that impressed back then and was happy with the estimating system that I was using at that time. I started with the Edge again about a year ago and must say that it has come a long way and I am overwhelmed by its current functionality and features. It sure makes estimating easier and I can't wait to access the next upgrade.

It works relatively well

We had a very complicated and specific way we wanted to estimate and it has taken a lot of uphill work to bend the Edge to do what we want it to do. I think this got us into some fairly unused corners of the Edge where there were some bugs hiding. The staff at the Edge has been very helpful.

Our expectations were perhaps too high. I would recommend this software more for someone who hasn't had estimating software before.

I've been a customer since 1992. I've used version 7 for a long time but recently asked for the upgrade to version 10.7. My 6 steps to an estimate may be out of date because it does not work with this version. Please supply me with the latest "6 steps to an Estimate".

Upgrade 10.7.5 to 10.7.7 2 Users Network Job Database

Recently we upgraded our software from 10.7.5 to 10.7.7. Tech support accessed our system remotely and stuck with us throughout the entire process. There were permissions issues to resolve and database conversion work around that took time. The tech support was solid.

Edge review

At first I was apprehensive, because I have been doing manual takeoffs for over 30 years,but once I got comfortable with Edge, it now takes a quarter of the time to do takeoffs and you end up with drawings that can be used for submittals. That is a huge time saver.

Good stuff

Very customizable program. Fully featured. Support staff is amazing. They are very knowledgeable in the roofing industry, which assisted us in getting the program custom tailored to our specific needs. No need to look anywhere else for your estimating needs.

It is a great system from starting out as a beginner to intermediate knowledge of estimating. At first it may seem like to much information, but once you get the hang of the system its a huge asset for all steps of estimating to project management.

Best Takeoff Program for Fireproofing

This program is the cat's meow for fireproofing takeoffs. It can be customized for any type of fireproofing takeoffs. Since using the program, my average takeoff time has been cut 75%. We are very pleased with its performance and functionality.

We have been using the edge for years and love it. We have just started converting to version 12 and have had minor issues but they are usually handled pretty quickly.
