Vorteile

The search feature is fantastic. We also love that all of the entities across our company can access the assets we have put into Flight.

Nachteile

The duplicate search needs to be enhanced. Duplicates need to be found during advance upload. We also have had trouble getting the feature to work with InDesign.

Vorteile

We were drawn to the clean simple interface. It has a non-intimidating face, but very powerful features.

Nachteile

A disappointement that we found with almost all DAMs that we looked at was that InDesign files and it's links did not keep their connection once uploaded into Canto.

Vorteile

The search ability of Canto is one of its best features. Once you have your files organized and tagged you can easily do a search and find exactly what you need visually. This is compared to searching and searching manually through folders on your computer or cloud trying to find something.

Nachteile

Uploading large amounts of files that are currently in folders can get pretty messy and it still takes a good amount of work to get things organized on the front end. There is also a learning curve with understanding how best to organize files best in the system.

Vorteile

We compared Canto to others in the Digital Asset Management software market and found it to be the most robust for the lowest cost. It handles pretty much everything for us photo/video wise. We like the tagging/keyword search ability and the ability to bucket and segment media.

Nachteile

It cannot handle vector art, which I found surprising. You can use vector art, but it needs to be in the "Brand" portal and not in your main library.

The cost per user is a little bit over the top. We had to scale back our users as we only need people downloading images, not managing it.

I have had many bugs uploading massive files (upwards of 100+ at a time) and the keywords/tags I put in the main upload screen did not come across. When I opened a ticket for this, support basically said "We can't recreate the problem" and left it at that. They wanted ME to make a video, and frankly im to busy to troublehsoot their system for them, they should not have put that back on me. The issue still stands to this day.

Vorteile

Flight by Canto is an excellent resource for us because it offers the flexibility of working from anywhere. With entities across the US, Flight gives us one central location to quickly search and access assets we need.

Nachteile

I would hope Flight evolves into a platform where I can sync "working files" to it. This would enable that much more collaboration.

Vorteile

Canto is just so easy to use! We have everyone from marketing to our sales staff to our delivery personnel uploading assets into our library and the Canto DAM tool makes it super easy to share these things while keeping all of our assets organized in one central place.

Nachteile

I really wish there weren't as many steps involved to download something from the desktop client. A one-click download would be so awesome! Also, as of late, I've been getting signed out of my account. It's not huge deal to log back in when I need something, but I wish this didn't happen.

I really like having the ability to tag photos, because we can find them quickly. Folder structure is great; tags help even more.

Nachteile

I am not sure why two steps are needed to confirm a download; this seems like an unnecessary step to me.

The biggest draw to this software was the ability to create "dropbox" folders for my field personnel. They don't need to be registered users, but allows my team to gather photos from our projects easily. Not only are we able to gather the photos quicker, but we can also capture important details of the photos. This, combined with the metadata features and excellent search capabilities, has significantly improved our photo database. Furthermore, the integration with Adobe products streamlines our workflows.

Nachteile

The hardest part of this software is the migration aspect. Our previous photo database was quite extensive. Even using the Advanced Uploader is still fairly time-consuming. I do wish there was an easier way to migrate large quantities of photos.

Vorteile

The system offers tutorials, tips and videos making self service a dream. The tools are updated regularly so the reference material matches your on line experience. Quality support for Admin users who have to be creative.

Nachteile

The use of workspaces is a bit clunky but a differentiator from other offerings in the market.

Out of all of the DAM systems I looked into, Canto had the best search feature which was really important to me.

Nachteile

Uploading is a bit of pain. Only admin or "power users" can upload assets into the main library which means that all other user's functionality is really limited. Canto gives you a handful of admin seats when signing up, but additional seats are an extra charge. Load times, especially for videos, are often pretty slow.

I've found extremely useful to have a tool that improves information sharing across teams, including assets and their performance, which we rate with stars. Canto offers a remarkable customer support, and its affordable price and easy to use platform made it a great choice for our organisation.

Nachteile

Improved usage rights blocking/alerts. Some of our assets are subject to usage rights terms, and it is crucial for us to specify which ones are usable at a particular point in time. The current offering isn't ideal.

It's great for photography, and a great way to consolidate photos with a dedicated download link.

It's not well suited for file types that aren't photos or pictures. There are no video previews, no .PDF previews either.

It is very easy and efficient to store all the photos we generate on Flight. The tagging system is super useful as well.

This program is great for online photo storage, but not so friendly with UGC. It would be great to have in the future

Having one reliable spot for all images and assets. Plus the ability to tag images and use search to find what we're looking for quickly. Love freeing up our servers and having all this hosted reliably elsewhere and accessible from anywhere.

Just getting team to get on board initially and working through the best organizational setup for our needs. Learning to share with our partner agencies and other departments involved a learning curve. Some features/abilities we want were not available (but they release new, useful updates regularly!).

Easy to search for documents and product images. Really liked that we can add fields to make searches more relevant to our business. For instance, tagging images with internal job numbers so that they are easy to reference.

Overall the sales team is using marketing resources and product images much more frequently now that they have an easy way to access what they are looking for.

Nachteile

The team really liked the drag and drop functionality of the Canto chrome plugin but it looks like chrome is now limiting some of that functionality where instead of dragging a file it is downloaded and then needs to be dragged from a folder. It still works as it should but it would be great to work things out with google chrome to get that original functionality back.

We use Canto in many client-facing projects that require the best most recent version. Canto does this and more with ease and with little interaction on our end.

Nachteile

The interface isn't always the most user-friendly. But it's not complicated or hard to use. Options change and can vary from device to device as well as platform to platform. Not a dealbreaker for sure!

We used Canto as a trial Digital Asset Management system for a few months. It was really easy to use and user friendly. I used it in collaboration with our video and social media team to streamline the work of our deliveries within the organization. Once the video or photographers would upload the assets, we would immediately have them available for us to use as design elements for our work. The keyword and tags were especially useful when we were trying to find specific assets for certain jobs. I also loved the suggestions on the tagging as that can become tedious when entering data. I especially liked the version control as that is something all designers struggle with when working with clients. The link sharing was great to share with our news team and other clients as we prepared assets for certain projects.

Nachteile

Not so many things to complain about. It was mostly user side when photographers didn't use the correct meta tag to tag photos

I like the ability to easily create branded, multiple portals where the user experience is best.
It is very user friendly where finding content is easy.
The syncing to outside file storage apps like Dropbox is handy
There is version control and duplicate look ups.
The cost of ownership is good, we can users easily and affordably.

Nachteile

The reporting ability is average. It is hard to look at how people are using the content. And only admin can pull reports. Also the Intro email is not very customizable. So the user may get confused where it is coming from.
Last it does not any integration with Salesforce.com, this would be a nice to have feature.

Smart tags. We get the weirdest, most useless smart tags and support can't seem to make them go away.

Canto has a customizable interface that we can adapt to our many business facings. It came in significantly less expensive than other competitors.

There is room for improvement in the amount of options available in the settings and preferences. They do have a process of submitting feature requests. Overall it does what it's supposed to, but it could be nice to fine tune a few things based on our needs.

-Tagging. Our company has loved the unlimited amount of tags we can apply to photos to improve our ability to search project photos.

-Sharing Photos Through Link Generation. I love being able to select whatever photos I want to share, generate a link, and then send to a coworker/client for easy download

We've had trouble with certain albums being unable to download. We're not sure why this is the case but feel like it is a problem that can be fixed soon.

The way how it is structured is simple and easy to follow to any users. One of the main challenges we previously experienced was the way to share our assets with people outside our organization. It saves our time and allows us control the access to our assets so it has been helpful. I was not part of the actual integration but I heard it was smoothly done.

the tagging system allows for easy search-ability. folders and albums allow for organization efficiency. the plug-in with In-Design makes it possible to easily connect documents and files with flight.

the way that tags are done could be streamlined so that users could "apply all" to certain assets rather than retyping the tags over again. another option to highlight images that you would like to go back in look at could be useful (there is something like this currently, however, the assets are all in a giant folder and you cannot make further distinctions between files)

Flight is efficient, user friendly, and the best DAM tool we've ever used. It's central to our marketing communications and allows our in-house teams to collaborate without needless emails and meetings. We experience the benefits of this system on a daily basis!

Canto has a great interface, both on the front and back end. Looks super polished on the consumer-facing side, and the backend uploading process is pretty straightforward and easy to use. Also is a great value as a mid-tier priced program with upper-tier functionality. Great customer service

The cold storage aspect is a nice feature, but it takes a really long time to retrieve an item if you actually need it.

We had been using a simplified asset management system, but realized we needed something more robust. Canto was able to deliver what we needed. We needed something that was easy to use, had the ability to add many users for internal access as well as the ability to share externally, and needed very good cataloging/search tools. It does all that and much more. Canto has been great for us as we now have all of our media assets in one place.

Not necessarily a knock on the software, unless there is a solution to this problem. But mass uploading takes some time since you have to go back in to organize & tag everything.

Canto has made it extremely easy for our reps to have access to all kinds of files including logos, infographics, headers, invitations and so much more.

I appreciate that Canto has pretty much all of the features I'd want from a DAM tool. And when it became clear that Canto was missing a feature we badly needed for a large implementation, they accelerated the update so that we could take advantage of that new feature. The support is great and the user interface and user experience are top-notch. You can tell it's a well-supported and thought-out product.

We were sold on a specific feature that actually did not exist. I think the main issue is that there is SO much that Canto's digital asset management can do that the account executive thought we needed one thing while we actually needed another. So, make sure to clarify and talk through everything before committing.
