Vorteile

I love that Canto is cloud-based and no integration with our IT department was necessary. Uploading and organizing is super easy and intuitive, as are searches.

Nachteile

I haven't found anything that I don't like. :)

Great features overall , there are many different ways to organize our assets, which provides a great way to structure our assets the way we want it

Took me a while to get around the tool, but Canto provided great training.

Ease of use for all users. Sharing is a breeze. Allowing us to have a simple process when working with Photographers.

Nachteile

Exporting mass file shares to other file types should be available. All master assets should be able to be exported or saved as common file types easily. We don't want dupes and this would be very helpful.

I enjoy how easy it is to organize all your assets and find them easily with the search bar. The portals feature has been extremely valuable for us as well for distributing our assets to our clients.

Nachteile

When you use the search bar, assets don't pop up in order of relevance; they pop up by date. It is impossible to customize the view without using a curated view.

Share-ability and how easy it is to learn and navigate. Easy to incorporate teams to manage and upload content.

Nachteile

Some small annoyance in specific functions. Nothing that hinders usability but some things slow down speed a little. An example is how you must deselect any items before switching to a new folder.

I like that it offers an intuitive, streamlined approach to DAM. The structure is set up very well and the ease of use is positive.

Nachteile

I do not like the export complexities. I wish that it could be preset with optimizing social media images. More AI applications to the software would be better.

Good for organising and tagging our brand assets and stock images and easy for staff to search and find files. You can associate files together which is a handy feature.

Nachteile

Find it quite expensive and we will probably investigate moving to another cheaper solution soon.

Being in creative and using the software for ad creation and file management has been a life-changer. Being able to crop, resize, and compress images within the platform before downloading is a TIME SAVER. Also being able to layout and customize brand guidelines in such a clean way makes, it that much easier to share with our partners.

Nachteile

There are a LOT of options. Don't get me wrong, it is good to be able to decide which way to organize, tag and manage your images and creative, but it can get a bit overwhelming at times. Specially at the very beginning.

It has a learning curve that takes some time. But once you know how it works it's not that difficult at all.

Canto is really easy to use. It's a great way to store images. Once the images are tagged and keywords are added, it's very easy to search for specific images within Canto. You can also download the images and resize, crop etc. directly in Canto - this is a great feature. Great to have assets in one place.

I haven't personally had any difficulties with the tool or any of its functions.

Canto solves a problem for us on how to securely store and organize digital assets. I like the customized permissions, portals and customized file structure options. The sharing capabilities are key.

Nachteile

I don't dislike anything about Canto so far. We still have a lot of features to explore, but I would like to see them add new things like better data and stats for portal-specific views.

We started using the two month trial and liked what we got out of it. Canto also seemed more eager to have us as a customer and was more willing to put in effort up front to take us through demos than the alternatives.

There is very little to complain about when using FLIGHT. I would like to see a more robust brand opener page after sign in much like is seen on the custom portal landing pages.

Canto has a very nice looking UI that is easy to use, including for new colleagues. Managing your database becomes way easier too.

We love that Canto makes it so easy to keyword, tag, and describe each photo we own to make it easier for us to find them in the future. The facial recognition is an amazing feature for Canto.

Nachteile

We have found it challenging to find time to upload the photos and add the tags, so we have a volunteer coming in to help us with this. It is a lot of initial work to set up Canto but it is definitely worth it!

Very easy to navigate and intuitive to use - was not given much direction or instruction on how the software worked but I picked up quickly. Good looking aesthetic - I am in it often and I enjoy looking at it (nothing worse than staring at a screen you think is hideous).

Nachteile

Some buttons are missing - for example, an 'unrelate button'. I accidentally related 25 photos to each other and had to manually unrelate them all.

Very easy for new users to jump in and get started, and importing images from G Drive is a breeze. We appreciated that they provide a demo for us to try before we committed to anything. The onboarding has been extremely helpful and they continue to provide support to help us with anything that comes up. Video transcription is also a very useful tool.

Nachteile

There are no cons that we can see at this time.

I really enjoyed using the direct GD upload function, tagging, searching the files and being able to relate files is a great feature. Portals are also amazing for sharing files with outside partners.

Nachteile

Probably speed at certain moments (although not all the time) and smoothing out the GD connectivity (just making sure the sync works flawlessly). Also being able to see which files were automatically uploaded in a more prominent place would be amazing (currently it's not that clear)

I use Canto at the university to find photos I need to promote the College of Engineering. I find it to be easy to locate and the photos are available in a variety of sizes. The face recognition feature is very helpful.

Nachteile

I can't really identify anything that I can say I don't like about this software. We used to use an image library, and this is much better.

I really like the facial recognition capabilities of Canto, the smart tagging, and all around customization of the tool. Great connections with Adobe products as well.

I love the album features that makes it easy to see your files, and love the integration to Box, Dropbox and more for easy file transfer.

Overall design and website animations feel dated and clunky, empty folders look ugly as well. Definitely a learning curve involved in using Canto.

It's so robust it was a little difficult to wrap our heads around at first in terms of how we wanted to set it up, but once we really dug in, it all made total sense.

We have a very large amount of photo assets that need to be shared throughout departments. Canto has been great at easing the process of searching the photo library. The ability to create tags for such a variety has helped save time and ensure that all of the assets are properly sorted.

Nachteile

My only issue with Canto is the user-interface. I don't feel that it is easy to navigate without proper onboarding. Once you get the hang of it, it is no problem.

I love the ability to collaborate with my team and through different teams and have everyone be able to access our digital assets.

I wish there was a connector with Affinity Designer.

Not only does it help with client relations, but it also helps us internally. When we have assets that need to be shared across the team, it's so much easier to just put everything in Canto, as opposed to constantly have to email images around. I can't recommend it enough.

I wish there was an easier way to select multiple images to share with another user, but I heard they are adding a drag feature, which should make it easier.

Simple to use and works in both a browser and a desktop app. It has previews for Adobe native files which helps a lot when looking for specific assets.

The UI isn't great — it's not easy to view + pull down assets quickly without "going into" them. The UX could definitely benefit from some tweaking, but no major issues blocking functionality.

I like that we can tag our assets for easy searching. I also love the Chrome Plugin, that let's us search, then drag/drop the asset into whatever we're working on. It's so easy! We also have a lot of outdated photos - now we can restrict them so they don't accidentally make it into a new ad or design.

It took a long time to get our assets into the system and tagged/sorted appropriately.

Canto's tagging system makes it really easy to find images and videos that I need for specific products, categories, or ads.

We implemented this product to help us manage our stock photography in terms of searchability and licensing. This product is the perfect solution.

Sometimes I think the admin navigation could be a bit more user-friendly, but it was obviously designed by folks a lot more sophisticated than I am!

I like that you are able to send out links for others to upload their photos too. With different people from our organization working other locations they were sending through emails their photos now it is straight into Canto.

Facial recognition doesn't always pick up on faces.

It has streamlined so many of our processes and saved us so much time and frustration. We're actually able to find out assets now instead of searching around and asking co-workers before giving up and having our designers re-create something that they didn't need to.

Before Canto we housed all of our visual content (photos, videos, etc.) on a server that was slow to load previews and made it difficult to access. Canto has made our content browsing both faster and more enjoyable.

We are still in the learning phase. Our virtual learning sessions have been great so far and we are getting our feet wet with the tool. I just uploaded my first restricted documents last week.

I'm still getting used to the tool, but it feels pretty intuitive. I've been a little nervous (only speaking from our virtual training sessions) about how deep you have to dig to customize some things, but it hasn't been a problem so far. I'm also just getting started with the tool.

It allows multiple units across our entire campus access to a central, searchable repository. I really like that users can have different levels of access as well so even if someone isn't a part of the units on campus that primarily use these assets, they are still accessible to them.

I guess the only con I've seen would be that it's all web based and the assets are housed in the cloud. This is mainly a pro because it better protects our assets and makes them easily accessible from anywhere, but it is a bit of a con because it takes a little bit more time to access larger files and your internet connection becomes a variable.

Easily finding and sharing assets. We are still in the beginning and have started to migrate. Lots of things to learn and understand when starting to use it, as there are more features than I had imagined.

It is difficult in the beginning as there are many features and many decisions to take regarding policy, access etc.

Canto is a great way for my company to share the images that I take company wide. They are able to see the images by category in folders, and I can set restrictions for images of products that are no longer sold.

Support seems to be based in Germany, during the installation we had to adjust some licensing issues a couple of times then had to wait until next day.

Have trouble renaming files once uploaded I think this may be a bug, keeps reverting to old name.
