Vorteile

I like the option for both text and voice for review. It has been very easy to navigate through the notes and helps with reporting.

Nachteile

There haven't been any cons to the software. Nothing at this point that I can say I dislike. It's a click of a button and your ready to go.

Vorteile

It keeps track of all the minutes of meetings by transcribing them in real-time. One can easily search the word and go to the timestamp of the video rather than watching the whole video to search for something.
Transcribing the meeting becomes really powerful as it saves time for a recap and filters out all the important information with the advanced search option.
I like that one can directly record an audio for transcription without needing to connect to meeting app.

Nachteile

In my experience the quality of transcription I get in Otter varies a lot depending on the microphone or headset I am using. For some headsets, the transcription does not work as well when compared to others even though all my headsets are of good quality.
The quality of transcription varies especially as different people in meetings can have different speaker volumes and accents.
The upload time for pre-recorded zoom videos is too long in my experience, take about an hour for a 1 Gb file.

I love the ease of use. It has more features than I need. Just having the recording, the transcript, and the ability to search on keywords is so helpful.

Nachteile

What do I like the least? It WILL transcribe words incorrectly. But having the recording and being able to go to that exact place in the conversation, allows me to know what the word really is and I can edit.

It was easy enough to operate and accurate enough for your work to flow fairly smoothly. And it never needed a readjustment once your voice levels were set. Altogether a serviceable tool.

For some reason I found it difficult to find at times, and it was different in the way it processed your speech, then you had to copy and paste the text and the text might be on a different web page.

I am a second career student and can't remember things as well as I used to. I user Otter to record my classes and then listen to the parts I struggled to remember. It works out great, even if I am not sitting in the front row. Even when the transcription isn't before because of uncommon words, the audio is strong enough to allow me to override the text.

Nachteile

Sometimes it seems like the transcription can take a while. I synced my calendar, but it started picking up things I didn't want to record and became annoying, so I disconnected it.

Vorteile

Otter makes uploading and transcribing easy. I tried free trials on a couple of other transcription sites, and none of them were as intuitive or clean interface-wise as Otter. The speech recognition is pretty good, and it's very easy to edit when needed.

Nachteile

I would rather be able to pay a per-hour cost than a subscription, but that's not a big deal. With the annual subscription, the price is manageable.

With so many zoom meetings, it's really helpful to be able to search transcripts to see who said what, or what the final word was on a discussion.

Nachteile

The AI transcription could be a lot better. The punctuation is off and maybe people talk too fast but it's rarely accurate. You have to do a lot of deciphering to determine what people we really saying, or listen along with the zoom recording. I don't know if all ai note taking apps are like this though. I also wish that it would capture everyone's name from the zoom meetings, for some reason only some names are captured and others are just listed as "Speaker 1" or "Speaker 2",etc.

It works so well as a native software for my zoom and teams meetings. It really helped me so I could focus on meetings and not on taking notes the entire time.

Nachteile

Some times it doesn't get the right speaker the credit. Mislabels them and I have to go back and fix.

The transcription feature is so amazing! I have used it so many times to understand what the client meeting was all about especially when building proposals.

I loved how Otter helps me transcribe my previously-preached sermons so that I can conduct effective "post-game analysis." Specifically, I can go back and see the variety of words I used when I preached; how repetitive I was; and what was the level of complexity or difficulty of the individual words I used.

Nachteile

The one thing I found particularly frustrating about this software was the amount of time it takes to upload an audio file to Otter... it would sometimes take over twenty minutes to upload one of my sermon audio files in order for it to be transcripts. I also didn't like that the free version of Otter cuts off an audio file at the 45 minute mark, as I tend to preach about 50 minutes (so I often miss out on the last five minutes).

Combines audio recording with transcription. This is useful as it enables you to search your recording for phrases or keywords.

Being able to click on any section of the transcription text & hear that part of the recording is also helpful.

Nachteile

Transcription quality is mixed. Do not use if you're expecting perfection & are unwilling to replay sections...

The software is reasonably priced and does quite a decent job of trascriptions. Its quick and reasonably accurate for a first draft.

Nothing to not like about it. the transcriptions are not 100%, but thats fine. Sure beats other tools out there at the same price range.

Otter offers highly accurate audio transcription and recording. The best part is that you can click on phrases and sentences in a transcription to replay the corresponding recording. The software can identify new voices/speaker chances as well. This is a god-send for saving time and improving accuracy for transcribing meets, podcasts, or videos.

Nachteile

The free version only allows 30 minutes of transcription at a time. If you need to record/transcribe longer than that however, you can just start a new transcription recording.

I love the ability to take photos of something that will appear in the transcription exactly where we are discussing it. The ability to recognize past speakers is really useful. It does a lot even in the free version.

They recently started restricting free users to a transcription limit. It's not too bad, and you can work around it by just started a new voice recording, but it's less helpful than before. Not enough to stop using it though.

In South Africa there are many accents and Otter has been excellent at decoding these accents. The tool is very accurate and editing is easy especially with the various playback options. The interface is clean and easy to use.

For the purposes I use it for Otter has the functionality I need. I really can't think of things I don't like. There is functionality that I don't use but I can definitely see how it could be useful in other situations.

Great for use in various situations, much more than just an automatic transcriber. The interface and bubble style interface for identifying speakers are super useful.
Being able to train the software to recognize your own or other voices is also quite useful.

File upload system could be cleaner. It definitely has a learning curve to overcome.

Otter is a great tool for transcribing audio files. I've used it for transcribing some audio files that I had to convert into blog posts. It's been fairly accurate, and the automatic splitting of the files into different speakers is helpful.

Nachteile

If the speaker is a non-native English speaker or has a heavy accent, Otter will often struggle to understand them. This can be frustrating and lead to inaccurate transcriptions. Also, the free version only allows users to transcribe 3 audio files — that's the lifetime limit, not per month.

Nothing is more frustrating than transcribing. Ask any professional writer. With this service (which is highly accurate), there is no need to write down a lengthy interview in full. Just mark the time stamps and listen back after the AI transcribes it in a matter of minutes.

If it's a really meaty file, then scrolling through on mobile might be a bit tedious. I often have to play back a few times.

Even though the notes aren't transcribed perfectly, they're transcribed well enough that I'm able to copy and paste and use for copywriting. Knowing that notes are being taken also allows me to stay fully present in the conversation, listen better, and ask better questions.

Some of the transcription is so bad it makes me laugh. But as long as I review it soon after the conversation, I can figure it out.

I noticed there were few errors in my transcripts so that's a plus considering the fact it's using an A.I technology mechanism

It renews my free trial with free transcription credits every month. This is insane value If you are on a budget.

It's important for me to focus on my client's pain points and this app helps to search specific keywords in Zoom conversation recordings that I have with my clients. I don't like taking notes so this feature was helpful.

Nachteile

It's still is an A.I so the possibility of margin of errors abounds. I tried transcribing my voice but the app got some words horribly wrong.

I have used the audio upload of an MP3 and enjoyed how it did a good amount of the work in writing out words of meeting speakers and time stamping portions of speech... even thought accuracy needs improvement.

I tried to upload a Zoom MP4 video twice (which took over an hour each time) and I just kept getting an "error" message at the end.
I am very interested in buying the service... BUT... What really got me was when their support just told me to check their FAQs sheet instead of helping me.

Although this software is great for small group discussions, it does not perform well with a large group.

I was able to pick up "every" word of the conversation, but there is no recognition of voice. Keeping the group small would allow the user to know who is talking.

Otter offer so much for free, which is greatly appreciated when you're running a little social enterprise! You may have limited upload options, but it can transcribe straight from a zoom call too. It identifies speakers pretty well.

The transcriptions of course always need editing - and some of the errors have been pretty hilarious - and this actually does take quite a lot of additional time, but obviously not as much as starting from scratch!
