Brightwheel was easy to access on my cell phone which is a huge bonus for me.

Nachteile

Brightwheel was fine to use. No real problems. Our daycare ended up switching to HiMama which is a bit more user friendly for communication.

As I used Brightwheel for 2 years or more. The more knowledge that I gain and the communication that I had with the parents were outstanding and direct. Brightwheel allows you to update information and view wonderful progress.

The app should remind parents to update their child's photo. Other than that, it's great!

I wish our forms and state mandated documents could be uploaded into the system so that we could be paperless. Then all of our documents could be accessed when needed. I wish the access to different features could be more detailed for staff. Allowing specific accesses to specific individuals.

Integration was seamless. It's so convenient that all of the tools that I need to run my school is in this one product! We use most of the functions especially check in/out for students and staff (helps us with payroll), messages, newsletter, activity and billing all the time.

We would like to learn more about the learning feature of brightwheel. I would like the calendar to allow to select multiple dates for one event. I also wished it would notify /remind parents when an event is coming up.

I really appreciate most aspects of the communication system for staff and parent clients as well. I like the billing and account systems a lot. I appreciate that lesson plans, invoices, in real time teacher-parent communications are all in real time and at access to the parents at all times.

I wish there were a way to upload our curriculum goals ad objectives into the system in order to make lesson planning, learning observations and child assessments more connected and seamless. I also wish that there were a way to pause messaging overnight or weekends short of signing out. It would be great to be able to set an out of office on messaging.

Easy to use, lots of features, lots of hands on learning that parents can view daily instead of waiting at the end of their work day.

That there is no Canadian Provinces frameworks uploaded into the system. That the Waiting list isn't able to be prioritized for children who applied first.

It's very easy to use, very user friendly and has so many helpful features. It really is a one stop shop because of everything it offers. I don't have to use other programs for various reports or tracking and even billing. It has brought peace to office chaos and helps parents with convenience and peace of mind.

Nachteile

There are always new things that a center looks for to help processes become more efficient or comprehensive. So yes, there are things that can still be integrated in brightwheel, but they are always open to suggestions and feedback. As soon as ideas come up, they put things into play. Keep in mind, all things take time.

Brightwheel was chosen over Procare because it seemed like a better platform overall for our preschool. I love the features offered that really help connect parents with the school.

Vorteile

The alert system that tells families what is happening in their billing and with their children in real time keeps the center very accountable. It is also easy to catch and correct any mistakes right then.

Nachteile

I do feel there are a few things that could be integrated to make it even more efficient - like an alert that tells you when someone is clocked in more than 8 hours or 10 hours (or whatever the user sets). Also, being able to alert teachers when a child has not been updated in their class after 2 hours or 3 or whatever the user preference is. I would also like to be able to input staff vacation into the system somewhere. It would be helpful with payroll.

Vorteile

As a teacher, I like the convenience of being able to get in contact with the parents of my students quickly and effectively. I am able to keep track of attendance and absences easily, it also helps with parents who need to monitor their child's eating.

As a parent, I like receiving updates about my child, especially pictures. When it is kept up by my child's teacher, it is a great app because I can see what is going on during his day even though I am not with him.

Nachteile

One of my biggest frustrations is that I have to COMPLETELY log out and log back in when switching from my teacher account and my parent account, at the same school. My son goes to the school that I work at but is in a different class. It would be so much easier if there was a way to toggle back and forth between the two. My other major concern is, though we have the app on our school chromebooks and it's great, I cannot upload pictures from the computer to the app to share them with parents. So, instead of keeping the app on my cellphone logged in to my child's account, I have to log out and then in to my teacher account to be able to share pictures of my students with their families. It is really frustrating. The parents of the children in my class are constantly giving me positive feedback about the app and love getting the pictures and videos, but it is difficult for me since I want to share the pictures with them but I can't do it all from the chromebook unless I try using the poor-quality webcam. It would be much more of a positive experience for me if I was able to use a classroom camera, upload the pictures to a computer, then be able to upload the pictures to the app for the families. I am sure that for someone who has a designated work cellphone or maybe even a tablet with a decent camera, this would not even be an issue, but for someone who has to use a personal cellphone to take and upload pictures to the app, is a bit of a downfall.

It is so important to maintain daily communication with the parents. Parents love when we update with pictures and videos. It has become an essential tool in our school.

Some of the parents have a hard time signing their child in or out. The app looks different on different phones and some of the parents state that they can't see their code making it difficult for attendance.

The biggest latest impact that made me write this review today is that Brightwheel is not just for Daycares, they have recently added AMI Montessori Materials list in the Lessons. The second biggest one I can send a link to families who are interested and they can fill it out and be added to the prospect student list.

The full billing feature not being offered in Canada. :( Hopefully one day they will I have been using bright wheel for all else and adding more. We can still invoice and add to profile to student, however, we cannot collect the payment.

Payroll and scheduling for employees isn't user friendly and developed. It's the main piece we are missing to be able to exclusively use brightwheel.

I love how much Brightwheel has improved since we first joined the program. Administration, Parents and Staff love all of the features. I am very happy with the way Brightwheel has fostered "community" between home and school, and even school and extended family. Grandparents love seeing their grandchildren and being in the loop. Community is very important to our program! I appreciate the level of professionalism Brightwheel adds to my program. Touring families always have great comments about Brightwheel.

I wish multiple accounts could be under one umbrella login. I do not like having to log out and log in to my three programs. We have an account with ADP and use just one login for all 3 programs. I simply just have to click which program I need to see. I wish I could access a simple version of a class list with birthdays and just parents names and emails without all of their personal information. Parents request class lists quite often for birthday party invitations. Perhaps even an "opt-in" directory for parents to see would be a great feature. Parents could choose to include email/phone numbers in the "public" directory.

Being able to message parents, send pictures, send updates and stay in contact with the families is the best part of the app. We love it as a school and the parents love it even more!

Nachteile

There can be some confusion when checking students in and out and using name-to-face but once you know the difference it becomes easy to use.

We use Brightwheel chiefly for its billing functionality and to meet State licensing requirements regarding records of attendance, ratios, sign in and out, etc. These are records you have to keep for years and the stacks of Bankers boxes were towering! Now we can upon request create and print any report, for instance our licensor could request sign in and out records from a certain classroom on a certain date--it can be provided way faster than digging through those old paper files. Name to face attendance can be achieved confidently with the picture bubbles for all your students--you can feel confident as an admin that all transitions and ratios are covered

For billing it is clean and streamlined--you can create plans, parents can establish autopay, they have constant access to their receipts and invoices, end of the year statements, your EIN, etc. It is a win win for both us as bookkeepers and for our parent clients.

The interface is very clean--sign up is a breeze for new children and it would be very challenging to get confused on the parent screen.

Brighthwheel saves us time AND paper.

Here is the thing--Brightwheel is constantly developing. So if you were to have a con you can feel assured your feedback will be heard. We have been with them nearing 3 years and have watched so many features get added on and updates made. They take customer feedback seriously and want to understand the industry's needs--we have had conference calls with developers and participated in a lot of dialogue about what we need and what works well.

I love how easy it is to use and how simple it makes managing the classroom(s). Having everything connected to the same app is great and limits the amount of time I need to spend running payroll and billing.

Nachteile

I dislike that parents are not able to add their own approved pick ups. At this point all approved pickups need to be added by an administrator and have to have their own separate account. For a lot of families that are just adding people as an emergency or for very infrequent it doesn’t make sense. I also would appreciate not having to deal with it on my end and instead allowing the parents to add someone connected to their account but still with a separate check in code.

I also would love a way to upload or create student files for all required licensing documents to move away from using so much paper and having those important files also stored with everything else in the system making it even easier to keep track of everyone and set families up when they start

I love that it keeps us (mostly) paperless! All activity is logged so we have no need for paper daily sheets. We can easily message our parents individually AND send out messages to the whole school.

The billing feature isn't quite where we need it do be, but they have already fixed it and we are just waiting to be updated to the new platform.

It's fast, efficient and very easy to use. It has a lot of features that we do not currently use, but used in the past. We only use it for checking kids into the preschool now, but have used the communication features in the past where the teachers could post pictures and send messages to the parents.

I really do not have any cons for Brightwheel. My experience has been very positive and I like the product. Being 100% honest, I have never had to contact customer service so I can not speak to that, but I do know that the implementation of the solution was pretty simple.

This is one of the best, if not the very best, solutions to make my life easier managing my school. We started using this app just in our after school program and soon adopted the check-in/out system for our entire attendance tracking solution. We are able to run reports to see who, when, and where someone was checked in for any given day in our school year. All of my suggestions have been heard and considered and almost all (if not all) have eventually been added. I love how well they receive feedback and how they want to serve institutions of all sizes. Having been a long time user since their infancy, I have had the opportunity to talk to many people with the company and they are all wonderful. I wish more companies were like them.

Nachteile

I feel like the free version is quite limited. It used to have many more features and I sang its praises to everyone. Now I have to start the conversation by discussing the financial part of the system, which limits some potential users. I wish it integrated with student information systems so that I didn't have to export and prepare csv to upload to create students. It would be much simpler to have an automated sync each night to create or remove students based on our current student system, Renweb. I'm beginning to realize that part of this is due to their growing attempt to take over the educational information realm, but they are not there yet.

We've been using Brightwheel for our 5 years now at several daycares. It helps us keep track of our son, including check-in/out and daily activities. It lists activity in chronological order with newest first and it helps us make sure the daycare is taking care of the children. I like that it can include photos and videos uploaded by the teachers.

Nachteile

Sometimes I wish I could send photos and videos to the teachers as well! I'd also like to be able to message some teachers directly instead of having it shared with the administration.

Vorteile

The features that are most useful is the communication with parents. If daycare is canceled, all the parents can be alerted on their phone. Most parents have notifications turned on so they even get a popup that there is a new message. Additionally each parent has their own log in code, so you get alerted when a child is checked in or out, and by who.

From the parent side of things, there is not much to dislike.

I like Brightwheel software because it enables me to connect with families in real-time. I can let families know ahead of time about what is happening with their child at school, and ask them questions without having to make disruptive phone calls.

The functionality of various features on the apps could be better. I experience some frustration when demobstrating how to use the app to new users who have an operating system different from my own device. Features like student check-in/out are unpredictable and I receive constant complaints from parents every day when they try to check their child in or out and the app appears to require something different each day.

We started off just needing an online database for our students. In a few months, this app became an indispensable tool at our school-- for both parents and staff. There are too many wonderful things about this app to list here in a few short sentences, but the highlights are: photo and status updates for parents, easy invoicing system, parent and teacher sign-in / sign-out, and so much more. The support team is also excellent, knowledgeable, accessible, friendly-- and timely in their response.

Nachteile

It seems the app until recently was in a testing or Beta phase, and as it moved into full production certain aspects of the app which were previously free and unlimited have suddenly and without warning been associated with a fee or have sudden limitations. That said, it's still absolutely worth it.

Brightwheel is a simple, yet amazing app for parents. You are able to monitor your child's activities, food, diapers, naps, etc. while they are at daycare. It is so much more convenient than a paper report and staff members can easily add information and photos all day long.

It's very easy to track every check in and check out entry of my little one in her school. I can receive important messages from the school so that I never miss anything happening at the school. And I can send messages to her teacher and the school administration regarding absence , sickness and anything regarding my child. Her teacher can send photos and videos of the school events through brightwheel. And also parents can share pictures and videos among teachers and other children in the class. And both parents have access and can track the child's activities.

I hope it has a little bit more capacity when sharing videos. The video have to be less than around 2 minutes to share now.

I am a parent user of this software and I absolutely love it. This software allows me to easily stay in contact with my children's school and get updates on what they have eaten, when they have used the bathroom, napped and receive pictures and videos. I like that I can message school from my phone and receive a message back without having to call. Because it has ios applications i get the updates on my iWatch and phone.

Nachteile

I don't like that there can sometimes be a delay in the software or some glitches but that is to be expected with anything from time to time.

It is easy to use. Training with staff is easy. Parents enjoy the ease of use as well. From an administrative standpoint, entering new children and staff is a quick process. Entering all daily information can be done in the click of a button.

When adding a child for a family that already has children at our center, the app does not allow me to only enter first name and email address to add this child's parent. I have to go on a computer to do this. We have several teachers at our center that also have their own children here. There is no way for our teachers to receive notifications both as teachers and parents.
