Excellent product
I taught myself to use Candy, and am doing the tenders for my company. In summary, I think it is an excellent program.

Candy Review
We are solving our cost estimating and procurement as well as accounting issues. We get good reports on your monthly costs, revenue and it gives us an advantage in not allowing anyone to order what is above the estimates.
Vorteile
It makes information and data capture, store and retrieval very easily. It helps a lot in Project Management. It's a great ERP system
Nachteile
Project scheduling is not as easy as like Ms project.

User in an EPCM environment for 15 years.
Candy has been around for 40 years, though has changed considerably from DOS to Windows.
It is probably the most flexible estimating tool available. It enables our business to prepare estimates the way WE want rather than having to follow the rules of the tool. The real power of Candy is the ability to prepare unit rate calculations on a free format worksheet rather than a pre-determined form to fill in.
Candy uses free format coding structures for all resources and unit rate/assembly items that allows for good analysis reporting, importing and exporting from MS Excel in addition to global updates of data.
The look and feel of the user interface is very familiar to spreadsheet users and contains all of the sort, filter, group and control type functions.
Candy has a 9 level work breakdown structure, alternate reporting structures, 9 x cost types and an excellent report writer that can produce unlimited report formats. It can be used by Contractors and EPCM's equally by utilizing more or less of the detail in the functionality.

One of the best available
I ve using this tool for more than 20 years. Have successfully priced projects globally upto 1 billion US$ plus. The beauty of this package is that it lets the user to practically price the scope as it should be executed on site. No blind number crunching no guesstimates. It has various reporting structures which allows the user to verify the cost and minimise errors. Those using UK style tendering methods where Bill of quantity is required by consultants/clients candy has a feature to easily produce gross/ selling bill in the required format. Tender stage cashflows can be developed easily swiftly. Site plan, valuation, post contract subcontracts adhdication, time-chainage programming and many other features makes it the most comprehensive accurate tool...must for contractors.
It may appear to be less user friendly for those comparing it with excel but once basics are known its pretty easy to drive....offcourse one will learn all features gradually...perhaps like primavera...

CCS from a Non - QS perspective
Exceptional Estimating, planning and cost control software by far.
Vorteile
My review is based on the Free Trial and must say that I was able to navigate the software fairly easily.
CCS is the most comprehensive estimating planning and cost control software I've used
The capabilities are almost endless from what I experienced, it is capable of producing cash flow forecasts that show the possible funding shortfalls, etc. I can go on and on
I found the materials management, Drawing register capability especially the revision control helpful
Being able to integrate your Bill with your programme is a huge plus when it comes to project controls
Nachteile
I found the planning section of the software slightly more challenging than the rest of the software

The CCS for Estimation
Overall experience is good with candy.
Vorteile
The facility of any report can be converted to Excel in a good format. The easiness of pricing subcontracts by using adjudicators. The facility to upload the excel BOQ without much difficulty. The facility to change Master files and the pricing from the master file with ease.
Nachteile
The pricing using macro is difficult since excel BOQ cannot be uploaded in Macro sheets. After exploding the cost inside the Macro reversal is time consuming. There is no facility to give discount on a particular cost code. There is no provision to give overall discount on preliminaries.

Great idea, needs polishing
Vorteile
No delays or loading times, covers a wide range of topics and brings them together beautifully. More functions than I could ever hope to use.
Nachteile
There's no UNDO button, no way to go back if you made a mistake, or simply wanted to play with your project program. You have to go back and redo everything or load a backup.

Powerful
Overall it's an excellent program that I would recommend to anyone. It is such a powerful tool for estimating and organizing projects.
Vorteile
What I like most about this product is not only is it very powerful but also user friendly. I find that other programs that can estimate and especially cash flow are too complicated for the average user.
Nachteile
If you don't have a mast file to start with it takes a long tome to set up the program to get started.

Used this estimating package for half a decade on projects around the world
For the civil engineering contractor this has it all. Priced and secured contracts from USD 2 M to 500 M. Ability to build up rates from first principles and has great functions to calculate projects of all sizes and complexities. Yet to be introduced to a better estimating tool and I have used a few over the years.

A software which is provides more control over any project. Service is also excellent.
Was using Excel before. I contacted the distributors of this software located in Mumbai, India. They were very helpful throughtout the implementation and training process. Prices are suprisingly affordable.
