Having used other translations services, i find Crowdin to be the most feature-rich and user friendly.

Would like to have live strings view on app interface or at least screenshots of the translated menu.

Crowdin is a great tool to help with localization across the board - it's easy for several translators and proofreaders to use, the zendesk integration works well.

Nachteile

Slightly annoying that when a change is made to a kb article in zd, all strings go back to translation (even those that weren't altered). It just adds a few extra clicks though, so nothing critical.

Crowdin is very easy to use, it has a seamless integration with GitHub and every change is just pushed to the repository and integrated in the app.Their support is very fast and useful, they are always there to help you through the chat.

Sometimes it is difficult to understand how branches work and how translations behave between releases.Actually we stopped using this feature since it produced a lot of problems with our translators.

Crowdin is a very convenient solution to manage large translation projects with multiple language teams. It has plenty of resources to ensure the project gooes smoothly and all necessary checks are put in place.

The interface is not the most friendly or intuitive for translators compared to CAT tools most professionals are used to. Browsing through the translation files can be a little complicated.

The machine translations and the search index allows to vastly speed up the translaiton and localization's process.Despite its weakness in regardin the context of the translation, it's fixed by the message sectiona nd the note left by the users.

The search engine for the projects it's weak, so it's difficult to fine other projects.Also, the platform it's not proper for translating documents, literary media and captions, which hinders the potential user base and workflow for certain types.

Crowdin is a great platform for translation and localization for every SaaS company. It offers the ability to simultaneously translate the content into several languages and also offers powerful tools to manage the projects. The dashboard itself is pretty clean and straight-forward for both project managers and translators. I have personal experience from both sides, so I will distinguish between them.

Translators view:
The translation is easy and the platform provides several tidbits to make it even easier. Variables are usually hghlighted using different colour, the dashboard provides the opportunity to raise issue and comments and get in touch with the project managers. Additionally, the strings leverage the power of the Translation Memory and machine translation, both of which help to automate the process and save time. Last, but not least, the Spell Check tool provides reliable results and warnings when the input is not correct.

Project manager:
Setting up the language is pretty easy and so is the work with the uploaded files and structures. Invitations to join the specific language can be sent via different ways. The approval of the translations is pretty easy as all the important codes and variables are highlighted. Bulk approvals are possible and so are the the bulk declines when the translation or structure are not correct. The project managers have the opportunity to set up a specific treshold point when the Translation Memory should be visible or used to user

Nachteile

Personally, only one negative comment about this platform is the missing highlight of some of the variables (not all), which makes the approval process a bit harder.

Crowdin is a huge cost savings compared to our previous software. We don't pay per translator access which is essential for crowdsourced translations and we only hit our string maximum after 5 years. The editor works well on a mobile device, which is key for volunteer translators to be able to contribute whenever they have time and does not exclude those who can only get online through their phones. Editor is robust and they're always adding great apps to add even more functionality. Project management is very simple as file progress/status is easy to track.

Nachteile

We would love for translators to see the status of their language for each project from their Profile view, so that they don't have to click into each project in order to see which one has work to be done.

We also have needs for some of our volunteers to manage the permission of others, which was a feature when we started with Crowdin, but they removed this feature 2+ years ago and we're still waiting for new permissions to come out to help solve this problem.

I would love to see more fine tuned controls for Machine Translation integration. Right now if you wanted to use different engines for each language pair you're not able to do that.

It is the most complete solution that can be found for translation purposes, Collaboration tools like Translation Memory, Machine translation, glossary and comments make it a complete solution for a single or infinite number of translators, and the size of the project does not matter. Also, there is a vast database of helpful translators for open source projects. And amazing response times of helpdesk is very crucial.

WordPress integration is one of the missing features that would be great to see in the near future.

Crowdin is the most feature-rich of the localization platforms out there. Just as important, it has the best online translation editor for translators. The problem with most localization platforms these days isn't which formats they support or any other engineering feature -- it's that the online translation part is so slow that your translators don't want to use it. Crowdin is the ONLY platform our translators actually enjoy using. That makes it a win-win. Also the customer support is excellent.

Nachteile

This is nitpicky but we run a lot of projects and would like to archive "old" source files without deleting them. Also the way it manages duplicates is not ideal, but we haven't found a platform that does a better job so it's hard to complain.

1. Many feature requests are still pending on this platform. They should at least provide reasons for not going ahead.
2. Some settings are either useless or difficult to understand or implement.
3. There is a scope for a bit of improvement in the user interface.
4. The marketplace is full of apps, and it may be challenging to filter the useful ones, especially for beginners.
5. Subscriptions are on a bit expensive side. Advanced workflows are not available in standard plans.

The feature that I like the most it is the TM. It works perfectly, you can search any word or phrase and the system will check in all projects to find the match. This way you can easily have consistency among your files. You can also leave comments in any string and even tag someone when you need something to be checked. You will receive a notification on your email when getting tagged.
The software will also recommend similar translations for each phrase, that makes the translator job easier and faster. And it helps to avoid translating similar phrases into different expressions.

Nachteile

The only thing I would change is the 'approved' feature. This is used when someone checks and approves certain string, but it would be great if the check mark could have different colors depending on the user that approves it. This way it could be checked by different users until the final version is ready to download.

It makes crowdfunded translations extremely easy. As an open source software developer, this made it extremely easy to integrate by having automatic GitHub integration and syncing, and making it easy to switch from JSON-based translations to this website.

Nachteile

Trying to add existing translations of other languages was a bumpy ride, the documentation on that aspect was a bit lacking at the time (specially because it was a pretty complex JSON file). Eventually it was done, and it wasn't too hard either.

Vorteile

Great built-in productivity tool that makes it easy to work on assigned channels. The user interface is quite simple and is not overloaded with features like in some other software of this type.

In my experience of using work tools, few projects include glossaries. I don't know if this is a customer choice. But the terms that appear in the glossary should be easier to insert simply by typing the first letters of the word.

The process of adding screenshots for context is pretty good, but it would be nice to be able to easily add screenshots from the translation UI, or include screenshots as part of the comments section during the translation process.

Absolutely amazing product! it really improves the efficiency of the work (time and effort wise).
i'm absolutely in love with the fact that the system will show you previous translations of the same word/sentence done by you or other translators in the project, and this is how consistency will be preserved easily no matter how long or complicated the work is, which is very critical and much needed.
I also like that translators can Up- or Downvote translations when translators provide different ones for the same word in the same language.

Nachteile

i think it would be great if you can select the events, on which you want to be notified per email.
and not just either not receive email notifications at all or get notified on every single project activity (which can be really frustrating in the case of really big teams and multiple languages). maybe we should be able to sort notifications not only by project but also by language.

I think sometimes, better error explanations will be better, but is just a little recommandation.

We tried other localization project management platforms in the past, but Crowdin makes the difference. The best feature is that it tracks repetitive lines of text each time when we submit our files for translation so they don't count for translation points over and over again. This only feature saves us a lot of money. The support is very responsive on Skype and lots of translators available all the time.

Nachteile

I wish they could simplify the user interface as I had some issues in the beginning when I tried to set up the environment.

Crowding provides a very flexible solution for working with new content on websites and enables numerous integrations. We have been using their service for over a year now and are happy with the service itself and the support they provide.

We also enjoyed the fact that you can build your own translate workflows and automate almost all working stages and the easiness of tracking the team's progress.

I liked the fact that it is intuitive and easy to use. One can easily understand its features and resources and get to work right away in a crowdsourcing environment. The context feature provides great assistance in understanding the meaning and the possibility of using a glossary makes it all better and consistent throughout the projects.

From my experience, not a lot of projects include glossaries. I don't know if this is a feature that is less advertised or if it is merely the client's choice. The terms that appear in the glossary should be possible to insert in the text just by typing the initial letters of the word.

I liked that we could see what translations are new/changed. Before we used Crowdin there was no way to know what words are still in need to be translated. Also the integration with version control (Bitbucket) is a big plus to automate things.

I recently (about 6 months ago) was invited to translate a project for a company in the telecommunications area (mobile phone and IT features) using Crowdin and had a very good experience. It was very easy to use, after concluding a set automatically could translate the next one without needing to go back to home page and it also offered TM suggestions which made the work easier.

Nachteile

What I liked the least was that I needed to write comment in every segment I had a question to the project manager so she could check it. As there were no segment numbers I found it repetitive and it took a lot of time to just write a lot of comments and when I got a comment again need to answer within the platform.

Vorteile

The XLF and ResX support is both very good.
Crowdin works as an "editor" rather than a dictionary with exports to different formats.
This is very important if you want the formatting of your files to stay exactly the same.

Nachteile

The difference between the full Premium product and the base product. They are separate so you if start with the premium you have to create another account for the base.
