Camtasia is extremely easy to get started with. The trial version is fully featured and time-limited. You have 30 days to try out the software. I wanted to record a demo which was fairly complicated and involved lots of different windows. After installing Camtasia, simply load up the software, arrange what you want to record, then press the record button. You can set an area for recording which is helpful when dealing with large displays. After finishing the recording, you can then spend the majority of your time editing the video. Camtasia is not as fully featured as Adobe Premiere, but for this use case it really doesn't need to be. Being able to splice video, add various effects (like speed up), and add audio is sufficient enough. I haven't looked into the more advanced features yet as the basic features are good enough for my needs. Lastly Camtasia enables you to export video in multiple formats and finely tune the size based on the video / audio quality.

Nachteile

The only gripe I have is that the yearly plan is somewhat pricey for me at $299 per user per year. However they do offer a free upgrade to the next version. And the renewal fee is reasonable at $50. Overall the ease of use is worth the license cost.

The first impression using Camtasia was amazing, even though my needs were just to make video recordings for tutorials but this really helped a lot of people. When I was asked a lot of things by some friends in the community forum, I was able to explain it all through the screen recording application provided by Camtasia. In addition to being fast in video editing, there are also lots of charming features such as good templates, themes, animations, and transitions. This makes it easier for viewers who need my video tutorials to understand what I explain there.

Undoubtedly the best screen recording software that allows you to do some video editing too. I love the fact that it is lite, easy to install, simple and has a user-friendly interface. Quality of screen capture is top notch. Video rendering time is a little faster than most of the popular alternatives. The interactivity feature allows a user to add quiz to a video, cool right! You can also import media files into it, add some cool effects and do some editing as well.

Some effects like smart focus cannot be used on imported media but there's always a work around. I wish TechSmith makes it into a full-fledged video editing software by adding more effects and tools but then, that would probably make it bulky.

I was a little frustrated and there was a learning curve, so I decided to invest in Camtasia.Why didn’t I get this earlier? I should have gotten it before I spent so much time figuring out the free one.You don’t have to be so techy because a non-techy person like me can use it. You can add various, professional looking annotations and editing is a breeze! It also allows you to do simple audio editing to eliminate background noise. You can also add narration, which is so handy. I like the ease of adding captions under my videos.

Oh It's so nice to know that same software has a feature to remove background noise from already recorded video clips. This means you can further split audio into parts and either edit or remove them completely.
This is a good tool in the hands of professional video editors and also worth learning for beginners.

Apart from the fact that it can suck all the storage space on your device or even crash, It becomes frustrating while working on low end pc, at its worse, it can take up to an hour to render a project.

I used Camtasia for years to create online training programs in my corporate training job. It does a great job of recording the screen and has some good editing features. It's best suited for training and educational videos. The PowerPoint import and the quiz features are great! If you are trying to do YouTube or something that is full video, you may want to look elsewhere for the price.

At times I found it to be a little bit clunky and difficult to get it to do exactly what I needed. I do have experience with professional video editing software, and this is MUCH more simplistic. So that may have been a good part of my frustration.
