Good general functionality, nothing fancy
One thing that is appreciated is they are continuing to build the platform, especially working on integrations and new features. Seems to be a solid company, and I would have confidence recommending this product to anyone assuming they match functional needs accurately.
Vorteile
It can handle a good volume of data and multiple campaigns, and provides the functionality we needed. Specifically like the Salesforce integration, although I've heard it is slower integrating with other platforms..
Nachteile
A little lax on reporting and metrics, we had to purchase additional software for some analysis. It also "feels" a bit heavy from a price standpoint compared to some lesser known platforms, but I haven't done a true side-by-side comparison.

Big Marketo fan here - used it at last company and made sure to bring it to my new company.
Vorteile
Once you understand how to use the tool, it makes automation pretty easy. It also integrates very easily with Salesforce, and our employee benefits tool (makes it easy to manage internal comms now!).
Nachteile
You have to really be mindful of all of the programs you have running so campaigns don't overlap or counteract eachother. It also has a pretty steep learning curve.

Great Lead Nurturing Tool
Vorteile
Marketo was built for lead nurturing, and it does that well. The integration with Salesforce is pretty robust.
Nachteile
The tool leaves a little to be desired when it comes to email marketing, but they have made improvements in recent years (for example, a better analytics dashboard.)

I have a fever, and the only prescription is more Marketo!
Vorteile
It's intuitive, easy to navigate, and the release/feature updates are generally exciting and impactful. Marketo has a fantastically organized product docs section, as well as an amazing active community with almost unlimited resources to consume. With a recent evolution to their Landing page and Email editors it's now easier than ever to create guided templates for repeated use and set yourself up for delivering truly personalized content.
Nachteile
It's difficult to find something I don't like when Marketo has delivered time and time again. When I do have something I don't like it typically is fixed or enhanced in future releases.

An excellent tool for capturing leads via our website
Excellent ability to capture leads on our website.
Vorteile
We use Marketo for web forms on our website. The forms are easy to put together and use, giving us an easy way of capturing leads visiting the site.
Nachteile
The platform looks rather dated (although there have been a few updates addressing that recently) and it can be quite sluggish when navigating data. Speed and UI improvements would be greatly appreciated.

Best Marketing Automation software available, but only because competition is weak
We are running marketing campaigns for our clients with Marketo, but we run into walls at every turn.
Vorteile
Easy to send emails, track opt outs, email regular reports, connect to Salesforce. Huge, helpful community of users.
Nachteile
Anything custom tends to be tricky and require hacks plus a visit to customer forums. Requires significant training before use, not intuitive at all.

This is a great tool for Marketing Automation
Vorteile
The community is top notch with no end to advice and help as well as industry best practice education. With the product itself, I am not sure how we operated without it. While there is an initial learning curve, the ease in which one can create campaigns, clone templates/campaigns, generate complex functionality in simple smart list/flow methodology (think: if this then that) all make this an industry leading product.
Nachteile
There is a bit of a learning curve. It would be nice to have something akin to Litmus built into the product (there is something similar but not as robust nor as easy to use).

this is a state of the art, once implemented easy to use and administer lead generation tool that can be leveraged by small, medium and large enterprises especially for business to business purposes
Nachteile
customization option could have been lot more simpler as it seems to be requiring a lot of in depth knowledge especially software and associated analytics

Marketo Review
I've been using Marketo for about 4 years now, it's great, does exactly what you want to do. The only problem is you need to be a marketo expert for it to work the way you want. It takes a long time to scale as a user.

Marketo gets 2 thumbs up!
Vorteile
Marketo's integration with SFDC is completely seamless and unbelievably helpful in our daily work! Also the customization that is available is great. We create templates with tokens that allow us to easily clone & make changes to get our campaigns out the door faster and to keep our brand standards across each campaign.
Nachteile
There are a few hiccups with reporting. I cannot easily give my CMO a dashboard that allows for drill downs to details. The numbers are fantastic and give us a great view into our work, but when we want to drill down on the fly, it is cumbersome.

Very buggy
Vorteile
Makes creating targeted lists for Marketing easier. Dedup capabilities when you have all web Leads go into Marketo first.
Nachteile
Very buggy. Constantly having issues with Sales Insight causing pages to not load. Leads not transferring to Salesforce and occasionally Leads in Salesforce (mass upload from list) not transferring to Marketo.

Marketing Automation Built for Results-Oriented Marketers
Vorteile
As robust as its functionality is, I find it extremely easy to use! I also appreciate how Marketo is constantly adding (free) enhancements and new features to its products to continue its placement as the best provider of marketing automation software. It really excels in lead lifecycle tracking, program membership tracking, campaign execution, and data management and works well for managing leads in each stage of the funnel.
Nachteile
Some of its design studio features are playing catch-up to other vendors in the market when it comes to responsiveness and style.

The best Marketing Automation tool on the market
Vorteile
All the Marketing Automation that you are use to see but really the best part are the reports that it shows, you can go as deeper as you want, and this is one of the most useful things, also did i mention that there's no software so you are able to check, build and report form any where.
Nachteile
The fact that the names with accents (from other languages like Spanish, French, Portuguese, etc.) are wrong on the system and its kind of hard to track them all once the lead was register.
Some times it takes too long to load the dashboard

Marketo - Takes the Gold for Marketing Automation Platforms
Vorteile
Marketo is probably the most robust marketing automation solution on the market. They have native solutions for many things that you might want to do from personalization to email deliverability, and if they don't have a native solution then there is a Launchpoint partner with an integrated solution that you can add-on.
Nachteile
There are definite shortcomings in some of their paid add-ons, and if you're spending extra money you might benefit from looking at another partner that specializes in what you want to add on.

Really well featured - but complicated.
It enabled us to do some basic things well but we also ended up in some cal-de-sacs with the higher complexity campaigns.
Vorteile
There is a lot of amazing things that you can do with this tool and the scoring that is associated with leads is immense.
Nachteile
Super hard to use. I did a two day training course and wasn't able to implement much of what I learned.

Clunky Marketing Automation
Vorteile
Our company did not have a positive experience with Marketo. While it technically does everything an SMB needs from a marketing automation standpoint, I feel there are better options. It was quick to setup, but not easy to use.
Nachteile
Marketo has a clunky UI. Way too many clicks to get to the features and lists. Form and Landing Page Builder are bad. Their API is very weak and limited. Lack of integration options and lack of support.

I have used Marketo on behalf of two clients. Powerful, but hard to use.
Vorteile
Marketo is a very powerful platform with a lot of enterprise-level functionality. It's great for email marketing and offers all of the workflow tools one would expect from a modern email marketing platform.
Nachteile
The user interface is antiquated and it's difficult to use. Tech support is not very good and they are slow to respond. Marketo may be good for email marketing and workflows, but their other tools for SEO and lead generation leave much to be desired.

Marketo has all we need and more

Marketo gives me all the tools I need to create and measure marketing campaigns in a way that truly impacts our business. From email to social, web tracking to sales enablement, Marketo is chock full of tools that we use daily, and even plenty that we don't.
Nachteile
Marketo really is meant to be used by a power-user. It takes a lot of exposure and practice to get good at navigating the tools and customizing each action to your specifications

Moldable, powerful tool
Vorteile
Marketo is moldable to what you need. It's a powerful tool that enables me to imagine how I want a process to happen and then actualize it without using any code.
Nachteile
The analytics leave something to be desired. Simple reports are good, but with complex reporting you need RCA, which isn't very user friendly. I end up doing a lot of reporting in Salesforce, but I am excited that Marketo has more robust reporting coming down the pipeline.

The customer support is phenomenal. There are so many resources available to learn the different capabilities of the platform. Marketo also provides great insight into campaign performance so we can make decisions faster.
Nachteile
There are a few minor issues with the Marketo / SFDC integration that could be improved to allow data to flow more seamlessly between the two systems. A lot of times you are kind of guessing --- "will this work?"

Nachteile
There's a little bit of a learning curve and multiple ways to perform functions. This can lead to some confusion, but I prefer the high level of flexibility in the long run

Surpassed all expectations!
Vorteile
Breadth and depth of offering. Can not be touched for it's flexibility and it's Ecosystem of software partners that enables you to integrate and add-on pretty much anything you could think of and more! It's for marketers, by marketers.
Nachteile
Your instances can get very complex, but I don't think this is any different to any other platform in this respect.

The revenue cycle model and revenue cycle explorer in addition to lifecycle and nurture functionalities are what truly set this platform apart.
Nachteile

I like the fact that it's an all in one platform - email, programs, website targeting, analytics, and design. It also has lots of preferred partner technologies and integrates well with everything.
Nachteile
Pricing. :) Living on a startup budget it's hard to cough up the cost of Marketo platform, but we still have to.

The best feature is that it is easy to use it doesn't require you to have any development skills. Analytics you get on the lead bases is very defined. The Lead Life Cycle and Scoring is one the of the best feature it has got.
