Definitely the best tool for vector design, the zoom in is infinite, you can have multiple artboards and layers and with Pixel Persona you can have a little of both worlds and do basic image edit. It is really great that you don't need a subscription.

Nachteile

It can be a little difficult at first, if you learned on a different tool, but once you get used to it you'll love it. I only wish there was a LiveTrace tool, but you can manage without it.

This seats at the centre of the Graphic Design pipeline. The export functionality makes this a must-reach-for tool of illustration and UX.

The "Select ... " functionality needs to be improved. If I lock or hide objects, when I "Select same fill colour", it should not be able to select the locked or hidden objects.

It's surprisingly fully-featured for the price. Once you know what you're doing, it can accomplish just about any task you'd use Illustrator (the industry standard) for.

The workflows are just ... Annoying. Maybe it's because I'm coming from Illustrator, where everything feels effortless, but it feels like every aspect of Affinity Designer was made unnecessarily complicated. Using the program makes me want to pull my hair out, because I know how much quicker and easier and just ... More "common sense" the process would be in Illustrator.

Also, and this is a big one: Most stock vector files are completely useless in Affinity Designer. If there's any degree of complexity (meaning more than one shape), it's going to be an absolute disaster to work with in Designer.

The software is near identical to Adobe Photoshop, with some key features excelling expectations, but the one time affordable payment makes this software a must in this industry.

Affinity Photo, Designer, and Publisher collectively provide the exact same product as Adobe Photoshop and more but are sold separately. Still worth buying each as the value over time compared to Adobe Photoshop with their monthly fees.

I ultimately bought both Affinity Designer and Photo for a combo pack sale - Designer is much better suited for digital art, drawing, painting, animation whereas Photo is better for photos, editing, etc.

- I got it to all my teammates (the cost is great)
- Many features are more powerful that of adobe's
- Reliable (doesn't crash as such)
- Didn't need support as such but their forum seems to be helpful enough

I miss a more intuitive shape builder. there are also a lot of options that I probably don't know and another program uses it, because I already know how to achieve the desired effect in it. There is still little material on youtube, and this is the main source of knowledge I use.

It's a powerful tool for vectorial drawing, it has everything a designer needs to create, it's very easy to use and learn and can switch with other raster drawing software (affinity photo).
The computer requirements are very low, so the software can work even on old computers. It has been developer both for Mac and Win, and has a full compatibility with Adobe's Suite.

The interaction with wacom's graphic tablets could be improved. That's all.

The things I like most about Affinity Designer is that if you're familiar with Adobe's line of products then the transition between the two isn't that steep of a learning curve. While Adobe may have set the standard in design spaces - Affinity is a great alternative. They also make it easy to learn by providing tutorials on their website. Menus and items you might be familiar with can also be hidden, but with any program it's always best to read over what their specific hot keys are to speed up your workflow.

I also enjoy that there are different personas that you can utilize within the software itself, especially the vector aspect. It's pretty much a one stop shop instead of either dragging and dropping between programs and/or importing different documents that can become distorted.

Nachteile

There's nothing that I dislike about the software in general, it's a great alternative to Adobe products. There's a slight learning curve, but nothing considerably over the top that would make it difficult to use.

I've been using Affinity Photo, Designer and now Publisher for years. I have consistently found their products to be far superior to the alternatives from Adobe in terms of performance, UI and the tools available. Given that they were originally designed specifically for the Mac, their performance and usability has always outstripped Adobe.

There aren't any real cons to Designer. The only criticism I have of the overall creative suite from Affinity is that there is, as of now, no solution similar to Lightroom. The main focus of my business is photography, so being able to organize and make basic adjustments would be wonderful.

First and foremost, the cost of this app is stellar! You can't beat the price for what you're getting. AD is a vector and pixel based program and it's simplified workflows for those of us who wanted something different to the new subscriptions introduced by Adobe. I find AD really easy to jump into and use, and their tutorials out there are genuinely helpful, plus there are many 3rd party resources to help you learn more.

Nachteile

Since it's still a fairly new product, some features we may be used to in for example Illustrator, are not present. For one, I miss being able to do live traces and also I find the pathfinder functions work a little differently than they do in Illustrator.

I started using this with an employer about 5 years ago and loved it immediately. An additional Creative Cloud license for me was not an option at the time, so I did research and found Affinity Designer. The features were comparable to what I'd have used with Illustrator and InDesign, and most of the shortcuts were the same, which helped me get started even faster with Affinity Designer. Exceptional price point, great features, and a dedicated development team that listens to feedback from users and builds needs into their roadmap. I continue to use this regularly for personal use and also occasionally for professional use.

Some of the features are still slightly behind where Adobe features are at, but the updates are ongoing and this works great for anybody that needs graphic design software at a more affordable cost. A team/cloud sharing option would a bonus for those collaborating on design frequently.

Adobe isn't exactly the most loved software company in the world right now, not even among designers who depend and even like its products. So if you dislike Adobe as much as I do, Serif's Affinity Designer has at least these things going for it: No subscriptions! Great, personal support! Engaged-with-the-community developers! Not built by a boring, unresponsive, impassive corporation that ignores its customers! But thankfully it's also a powerful and incredibly inexpensive piece of software. Stuff I really like:

1. Doesn't crash. I'm guessing that's because of good memory management, something I'm not sure Adobe has ever cared about.

2. Unlimited artboards! Yup, unlimited.

3. Split-screen and outline views with a keyboard shortcut. Nice!

4. Much, MUCH easier to work with pixels and vectors at the same time.

5. Did I mention that it's not Adobe?

Nachteile

Not as power-packed as Illustrator so some task still need Adobe, particularly for prepress. (For prototyping, you probably want Sketch.) Not as impressive as its sister application Affinity Photo. Proprietary format is obviously not an industry-standard like Adobe. No iPad app yet.

The one-time purchase rather than year/monthly subscriptions is a big win for me, only with $25 you can have this app until you die or forgot your account. Very affordable to students and small business owners like me. I can import Photoshop (.psd) format into affinity and it just works. Affinity Designer also doing updates regularly to polished the app more further and removing some bugs.

Nachteile

Although affinity and Photoshop have similar tools, it just feels different if you using Photoshop for long time before switching to Affinity Designer. Beside that I don't find any cons or downside

I use Affinity for my own creations, mostly drawing and cartooning, and I really like it. It has most of the same tools as the Adobe tools I used but it’s way better thought out when I use it on my iPad. Same goes for the Affinity Photo app. They both work very well on my iPad. I have used the Affinity tools on my iMac and they are responsive there too.
They aLso have some really good filters and a good ecosystem for lenses and other tools as well as for tutorials and sharing artwork in the community.
But maybe it’s biggest plus is the price compared to Adobe. The fact that I don’t have to pay monthly for it, and it’s a great product are key factors. I think it’s a great alternative to Adobe products.

Nachteile

The tool icons themselves are small and make it difficult to locate them sometimes and the UI isn’t as polished as Adobe. Also I haven’t been able to really take advantage of the personas they have for designer and photo apps. Also the fact that when you open an non-Affinity image you are pushed to save it their proprietary format as opposed to the format you opened it in.

Affinity Designer is easy to use and makes navigating easy to find what you are looking for. Features are okay and not too much at the beginning. If you were using Illustrator before you will understand the User Interface. It's also easy to export your designs, easier to create designs. It also loads faster than AI.

Nachteile

Illustrator is missing some features from Illustrator which you may like to use, it's the problem if you wanted a better overview. Less features means a better interaction, shorter ways and fewer shortcuts, but also fewer ways to create masterpieces of art.

It is one of the best companies in terms of web design, not only because it tries to help in all possible ways to its customers but also because it presents a wide variety of services and is extremely effective in each and every one of them, I recommend it 100%, currently it is very difficult to find a company as effective and fast as Affinity Designer. If you are thinking about working with this company let me tell you that you have nothing to think about and you should start doing it now, I recommend it 100% effective, fast, attentive, versatile .. it has everything a customer needs and knows how to use it ..

It's an incredible app that has everything you need for designing, sketching, drawing and more! I't one of my favorite apps of the decade! All the features are amazing: the infinite zoom gives you precision, the smart guides are really smart, the layers panel, the tools, the view modes and more.
Serif really have achieved a masterpiece that competes directly with other vector graphics platforms.

It's a little limited on typography tools, and object effects as blending between shapes, gradient mesh and others are on my wishlist.

What I really love about this graphic editing tool is that you don't have to pay a subscription for it. What's great as well is that the one-off price is very affordable. I think thier "personas" concept (vector, pixel, and export personas) is also very effective. These "personas" focus all of the needed editing tools in one area (persona), which in turn makes it a far more efficient and enjoyable way to create digital art.

As there are so many tools, it can be a little bit overwhelming when you first use Affinity Designer. However, their vast amount of online tutorials and other helpful documentation makes it easy to get used to all of the tools available.

The best thing about Affinity Designer is not that it is feature rich, but that it has all the essential features for designing/illustration. This software can be bought for a low price (one-time) unlike Adoble Illustrator which demands you pay monthly license fee. The software is easy and intutive to use and I was able to learn the essentials within a week or so. You get basic photo editing features like selection tools for cropping, blending modes, etc.

Nachteile

Certain useful features like gradient map, 3D, mockups, etc. that are available in Illustrator may not be available with Affinity Designer. But I am OK with this - too many features make us forget essential ones. Besides, the magic wand tool available in Affinity Photo is not available in Affinity Designer - for precise cropping of people, etc. I wish Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo were a single software.

Designer, along with its brother Photo, makes the best out of a designer software, without the hustle and cost of a larger suite, such as Adobe CC. Every feature you are used to having on Illustrator you will find in Designer. The layout is very similar and with some name changes you are just at home. Additionally, Serif develops templates and themes that you can use just by being a registered user.

The only problem for most designers is to find where the usual tools (shadowing, rasterizing, among others) are located. Once you get familiarized with where is what, you are free.

Affinity designer is fresh, affordable and easy to use. It has the features one would need from an app like Illustrator and it doesn't feel like too much was crammed into it. Some of the way the interface works reminds me of CorelDraw which I really enjoyed using, but has become a bit dated and is not available on Mac. This is a great app for illustration work, and for print design like business card design. The separate vector and pixel personas keep tools organized well.

Affinity Designer isn't specifically designed to be used for UI design, while I'm fine with this, it would be interesting if in the future it could handle some of the features that applications like Sketch do that make it great for UI design. That said, I wouldn't want this if it made the app cluttered. Right now Affinity Designer is great because it is easy to get around.

Affinity Designer is a very complete design program, it works fast and accurately, the tools it has been very well implemented, and it is also very good that it works and exports with different types of files from AI, SVG, etc. It is a great software to vectorize, the process is simple and intuitive; It has good functionalities in image editing, and the text editor works correctly. Another key point is its price, being cheaper than Illustrator it is a great alternative for designers who do not have a high budget. In conclusion, it is a very complete and highly recommended program!

It is a very complete program, with very few flaws, or at least that I have noticed, the only thing that perhaps I did not like is its interface because it presents functions or tools that are quite similar, it needs optimization or simplification. Another point, perhaps not so specifically related to the program but that does affect it, is the lack of exclusive templates for Affinity Designer.

I am sorry but Adobe is out of their mind to think that a casual user that occasionally needs design software is going to pay more for their product than they do all their streaming services combined.
Affinity designer is an amazing piece of software that allows me to create and design simple print projects to.. something that I cannot do, create beautiful pieces of art. I have a tremendous amount of loyalty to Affinity. Bonus: they produce their own tutorial videos and post them online, so even if there is a task you don't know how to accomplish they help you.

I'm not a designer, but from time to time I needed to create a graphic for social media or for digital and print documents. I love Affinity Designer for its well-designed interface, full-featured functionality, and flexibility much higher than in any online tool. I found there everything I need, and what was hard or impossible in Canva. In fact, it's a competitor of Adobe Illustrator rather than Canva. And it's available for a one-time payment and ridiculously low price.

It has a rather steep learning curve. It's not as easy as Canva or Crello, but you don't have to watch hours of tutorials to start. One more drawback: if you want to create multi-page documents, you need their DTP app.

Another big pro is the ability to open several different file formats, including .ai.

It can take a little effort to setup your workspace the way you like it. It's not always easy to find out how to display a specific palette of functions via the main app menu. I prefer submenus in tool docs so I can see what tool palettes I can add directly.
