First-- I hardly ever offer reviews for services, products, or companies. I'm of the opinion that if a companie's products and services are good enough, they'll stand the test of time regardless how many reviews they can manage to pull together and show the world. But I'm making an exception in this case because of the exceptional products and services that Pixpa brings to the table.

I'm a photographer, and I've self hosted my work in the past using my domain provider using Wordpress. It worked. Sort of. But only after fighting with the software and the interface till I was ready to rip the code through the screen. There was no support to speak of because it was Wordpress and the provider was a large scale hosting company.

At some point I realized there had to be a better way and started looking around. There was Squarespace and Wix and a bunch of others, but somehow tripped over Pixpa and what they could offer for basically the same price that I was already paying. Short story long-- the design tools and the UI is Intuitive, Consistent, and... I don't use this term lightly, Usable. So much so that I was willing to chuck the Wordpress site wholesale. So much time lost...

As to the services, help, and support, this is why I'm bothering to write this review. The live support chat is just that-- it's a real person with real answers. I'm not stuck in AI hell, I get a quick response, and I can get the answers I need so I can get my work done. I get the feeling they genuinely want to help and will get the answers you need. They're also responsive to feature requests and based on their responses to my suggestions (and implementations!) it's clear that they care about the product and are trying to make and maintain a top-tier product.

Bonus round that the online search Help really is helpful. Put in a keyword and more often than not it will show you what section you want to be in to make the changes you want.

In summary, kudos to Pixpa for delivering a top-notch product with exceptional support. Well done!

Their drag-and-drop interface and mobile responsiveness are especially helpful for creating a professional website without needing coding skills.

Nachteile

The least appealing aspect of Pixpa is that some of the more advanced design features can feel limited compared to other platforms. For example, the customization options for templates aren't as flexible, and integrating third-party apps isn't as seamless as I'd like. Additionally, the platform may lack certain advanced features for larger businesses with more complex needs.

Customer service has also been very helpful and responsive from the start.

Lack of functionality and options for displaying video, considering the fact that Pixpa is marketed toward photographers and video is now a service that many photographers also provide as a service.

The customisable templates look good and it is relatively easy to create a good-looking website - however, there are limits to the customisation of the blocks systems and you end up with a relatively generic website that doesn't distinguish it from many of the platforms out there such as Squarespace. Customer service is pretty good though I often have to wait more than 24 hours for resolution of an issue.

Nachteile

As a professional, I have used many portfolio platform builders in my time and, for me, there are just too many wired glitches with the backend of Pixpa. It doesn't feel as stable as a platform like Squarespace or Format - not enough for me to trust it with my professional service and website long-term. I have had to reach out to the service team on too many occasions for too many basic things like the website content disappearing, not being able to log in to my account for no apparent reason, password rest emails not being sent to the correct email address etc.

I love how affordable they are and the range of features that they offer and as a result, my website is doing much better than it was when it was at Weebly.

Pixpa's quite easy to use, and although it doesn't have the complete set of tools that WiX has, I'm very satisfied with it. Pricing is very competitive, and the customer support (live chat) is extremely helpful.

The all in one approach. I did start with a first MVP of my website using a proposed template. Then quickly I did adapt it to my color pattern and specific structure. I love the client gallery that help me to provide private and secured access for my client. This is also an easy way to start selling this private shooting via the ecommerce bundle. I like also the notification of the activity. Now I am testing the store bundle in order to sell services and picture, the way it is made force me to think more on the product I will sell soon. So now I am more confident to start soon this new functionality of my activity.

Nachteile

The interface seems to be simple but you need to take time of the way the platform is embedded. This can be sometime confusing or not basic. But this is only when you want specific look en feel for your site. Maybe the link with certification services (trustpilot ...) can be enlarge to other provider and simplified.As a photographer I would love to have quality printing partnership in EMEA and France as this is where I am doing my business.

Using the templates straight up is easy, however, if you wish to customise the templates significantly, it can become a bit challenging to adjust the various features since this is not a drag-and-drop build. However, there are very DETAILED tutorial walkthroughs available in the help section of the management area. In addition, Pixpa has EXCELLENT customer service. I have been able to get feedback real-time using the help chat feature, and have also gotten detailed followup via email within 24 hours.

Pricing of Pixpa met my budget as a startup business while giving me a very strong feature-set - chiefly, to be able to display my portfolio, have a landing page that potential clients can get to learn more about my work visually, have clients contact me, and very importantly, be able to deliver and sell images using private client galleries.

Simple, fast, visually appealing, functional, and easy to use. Outstanding customer service is an added bonus. I have created two personal websites and plan to make some for clients.

Nachteile

There are no real negatives. I have used many platforms so I have a good background to compare this platform with others. Pixpa offers the best value for the money, and the customer service is better than any of their competitors; better than Squarespace, Wix, and WordPress from my experience.

I suggest maybe allow templates that is geared towards a funnel landing pages. It can be achieved with some advanced customization and coding but this platform would be a game changer if they had templates that simply allowed you to create that.

It's stunning how easy to use Pixpa has been for me. From setting up the framework of my site, to diving into details ranging from design customisations, to product and service information. I especially love how it renders my site on mobile devices - that's easily one of my favourite things. Plus, SEO management is a breeze.

Overall, its speed and ease of use is magnificent.

Three main gripes I have at the moment:

1. The fact that payment integrations are limited to Paypal and Stripe, given that the two are barely operable in Kenya, and the main methods of transaction in Kenya forces customers to go through a roundabout method to complete payments. If we could find a simple workaround/workthrough for this, it would be wonderful. Related to this...

2. I can't display prices in my local currency (KES). That makes the checkout process rather difficult.

3. I think the blog side could use a little more editing flexibility. Primarily, the ability to change the size of images within the context of writing a blog post.

I use Pixpa as the better alternative of what is ( or was a year ago) on the market - Squarespace, Pixieset and others I can't really remember that offered a trial period. Good choice of gallery templates, the ability to sell digital products and prints without setting up an online store, good client galleries. Found to be the best for my needs as a photographer - saves my time and eyes (I do write HTML/CSS code regularly but I rather shoot pictures than stare at a white screen all day). Seems to add new features every 3 or 4 months.

Nachteile

There is a lot to be improved - most templates are set at 1200px wide - max at 3000px (and you need to dig deep to find the option). Neither are good for 4k monitors that max out at 4096px, contact forms can add multiple custom choices but no ability to upload files/pictures with the message, image upload is set at minimum resolution as default (dig deep through menus to change that), no full google fonts integration, no custom email address option as far as I know.

Once you figure out the software it's quite easy to use. Their tech support is AMAZING and will help you along the way. I have found their built-in SEO features to help get my page to the first page of Google within a few months.

Definitely the customization of designs and templates. Often I feel stuck with their preset choices, so I build my own graphic in Canva and it never displays as nicely as the rest of the page.

Pixpa helped me to sell myself in a better way, the land page and the overall navigation are very intuitive for the user. My portfolio photos are the most important and they are easy to see at the very first glance. The tool is easy to implement, handy and friendly, it took me only 2 weeks to have my portfolio ready.

I would like to have a bit more control over some design tools, margins, sizes of logos or customization of them.

There are a few things i think could really make this site awesome. Allowing users to accept crypto currency in the e-commerce store would be great. In addition please allow us to reorder items in the store manually. Once you save an item it completely throws off the entire order.

I love selling art prints but the 3rd party whcc store that allows customers to order prints could use some work.

Creating a community of pixpa website experts that can help a person design their pages. The app portion in which you can give to clients needs a lot of work.

Easy to use with great functionality. What I have enjoyed the most is being able to sell items directly from client gallaries hassle free. Easy for me, easy for my clients. I can control download options by gallery and by user. Order management is very well done too. This is a small side business for me, and before I switched to Pixpa I was on the verge of throwing the towel in.

The only con I've experienced is a technical glitch this week that deleted all images in a gallery (rather than just the images I had selected), and then wouldn't allow me to restore the deleted images. So far this has been a one-off problem. The option to restore deleted images is, ordinarily, definitely on the pro list.

Pixpa is extremely easy and intuitive to use. As a photographer, I was looking for a platform that will help me build a portfolio fast and easy. Another important thing to me was being able to update the website easily being able to integrate a shop. Pixpa made all these very simple and quick! Also, best and most helpful customer support I've seen on a platform so far.

I feel like there is a very small pool of templates to chose from, and I would appreciate having more creative options to structure my website in a different way.

Aside from the reasonable cost of this website builder for my photography website, the biggest pro for me was the lay-out, range of templates and ability to customise them in a way that suited my needs. This involved being able to showcase my work for maximum impact with a stylish design that was simple to navigate for any potential new customers to my website. Although I haven't needed to contact them on many occasions, I have also been impressed with the prompt, friendly and helpful responses I have received from Pixpa's customer services department.
