It's core ability to lock down an environment. Controlling what can be installed or used on key systems is critical in my eyes to ensure a company is protected.

Nachteile

There is some work to stress the importance of securing a system to clients, but once they understand the benefit the product they gladly help with the process.

Ease of setup and Deployment.
Robust features, and inclusion of many tools.

Nachteile

many of the nice features or extra tools cost extra per module such as admin by request etc. Cloud only deployment and no on prem options.

What I like the most is the ThreatLocker support, it's excellent! Most of my questions have been answered through the university or the help page. Both are fantastic tools. That being said, if I can't find what I need, I message the Cyber Heroes, they respond almost instantly. They're very polite, knowledgeable and follow the problem through until you're happy to close the ticket. It's nice to know that if you're stuck or unsure, someone has your back.

Nachteile

I find that sometimes ThreatLocker doesn’t always elevate an application when it has been set on approval. This is an intermittent issue that I need to raise with the TreatLocker team when it happens again. I am sure it is an easy fix and I know the Cyber Heroes will be happy to look into.
This is the only thing that I can think of that is negative.

It helps me sleep at night. This is a product in my stack that is proactive and actually prevents bad things from happening instead of reporting that something already went wrong.

It is another step in change management.

Ringfencing is the best portion knowing bad software cannot talk to other software.

Not a lot, just took time to get rules for devs setup in a way that worked well.

Ability to lock down the endpoint to the point that even adding an browser extension can be blocked.

At first it's a bit overwhelming to look at the audit logs and seeing all of the DLL and items that are being audited, doing it alone would be daunting but having the Threat Locker Help Desk team and onboarding team walking you thru made the process much easier, highly suggest taking enough dedicated time for the setup and onboarding clients. if you have an internal team make sure to have them on the calls.

With this tool, we enjoy unmatched networks security capabilities as well as endpoint protection.

Well, ThreatLocker has best features and no complaints.

Relatively easy to add "blocked" programs that need to be "allowed".
Emails that alert when someone is requesting access making it possible to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Being in the IT field we are often downloading and installing various software's and constantly needing to go into learning mode or allow the programs. It would be nice if there were an "over-ride" option from the desktop.... Possibly a right granted to specific users. i.e. - administrators. so that not anyone could do it but a known administrator could. Make it a timed out feature so it would only stay open for 30 minutes at a time.

ThreatLocker has a large feature set which provides a lot of option. Their support and especially account reps are knowledgeable and helpful.

Due to the number of complex settings and features within ThreatLocker there is a lot to learn, know and understand.

Complete control. As an MSP, Threatlocker has taken our security stack to the next level. Application control, Elevation, Storage control and now recently we are adding Networking and evironment hardening with Configuration manager to the stack. We needed a product to give us better central control than RMM products offer and Threatlocker has delivered and beyond for our company. The University and support are also excellent.

Nachteile

The learning curve and initial noise of implementing the system brings some additonal work and training challenges. Threatlocker is a philosophy your techs need to adopt and this can be a struggle to overcome.

The initial learning curve would definitely turn some people away from the product and frustrated us but otherwise it has worked as intended

I love the zero trust model that they use, as well as the ease of deployment and deployment management. The storage management is also fairly robust.

There is an extremely steep learning curve for policy management, which maybe tricky for non savvy users. This can also introduce policy errors as a result of improper use.

The best thing about ThreatLocker is the ease of deployment and the support. The tool sits in learning mode, gathering data on what applications are running in your environment. Once you and your team are ready, you can place devices into secure mode, which prevents applications other than those determined in the learning process. They also have over 1,000 built-in applications that their team keeps updated, which helps with the ease of deployment.

Nachteile

In the beginning, getting used to seeing all of the different files and applications that users are running can be a bit overwhelming. However, as you utilize the tool and work with their team, you will quickly learn how to use this data to create rules effectively.

Really struggle with this Q, only thing I can think of is on occasion the storage policy deployment struggles a bit with allowing USBs. Could just be our own infrastructure though, 1 in 100 (if that) have a problem.

ThreatLocker is very easy to deploy. The platform is very exceptional for the security within your organization. Their support team is doing very great as well to make sure they can help you with your concerns.

There isn't anything about ThreatLocker I don't like. From the Ring Fencing to Allow Listing to Elevation control, it keeps users from doing things they shouldn't be while allowing what you need to run, run. I sleep at night knowing that some random software can't run on a client environment and cause an incident.

Nachteile

Threatlocker is not a set it and forget it product. They can however use their internal CyberHero's to make it easier for you. It's just an extra cost.

Vorteile

ThreatLocker does what it promises. It catalogs and manages your known software while blocking unknown software from running. It also assists with elevation and network ringfencing. Together, these provide a great level of protection for the environment in case you do get breached.

Nachteile

It is not a set and forget, it takes active management. The time taken is reasonable, it just needs to be factored in. I probably spend 2 hours/week on managing ThreatLocker across nearly 400 endpoints.

It is easy to use. User interface for both the client and the admin console are very understandable. I love the "install" mode. It is very easy to add new software to the policies, especially since ThreatLocker comes with many pre-defined policies or it is very easy to create a new.

When you initially install TreatLocker on a a computer or server, you run it in Learn or Monitored mode. Then it creates the policies if they don't already exist.

I don't really have any negative things to say about it.

Learning mode in combination with intervention from the Cyber Heroes makes onboarding very straightforward. They do a great job of making the application look terribly effective but impossibly easy to use.

The canned deployment script for our RMM wasn't super great.. it'll get the job done but I ended up writing one for both deployment and automation/monitoring.
