The best CRM I have come across - been using it since 1997 - more than 20 years!
Vorteile
Can be customised just how you like it in so many ways.

No native Mac version. I have been using the Mac platform now for 10 years and have to run ACT! through a virtual machine which works well enough but limits functionality.
Also, the newer versions are clunkier and cumbersome compared to earlier versions. Whilst they may lack some of the bells and whistles of more modern versions, I have stuck with ACT!2000 (a.k.a. version 5.04.495 which was designed for Windows 98, and will run on no later Windows version than xp! I tried upgrading a few years ago but didn't like it as much so went back to my old version.

After user since version 2.0
I run an international consulting business with customers in Europe, the Caribbean, Africa, and all over English-language North America to the north of the Arctic Circle. I could not have built this 25-year business without ACT! In retirement, I am serving as a university professor. I have over 7500 contacts in my database. ¶
I served on the beta team (I actually loaded version 1.0 but it was not as good as competitors) when version 2.0 came out it was hands down better than what I had been using. I have updated act every year ever since! Service is great and good but available only during business hours specific time, I only wish it was available 24*7

Total ease-of-use and fantastic tech support.
Nachteile
Since my days on the beta team, I have asked that if you highlighted a phone number overseas it would tell you the local time of day and whether that was a business day or a holiday. Tech development teams have always said that is a fantastic idea dating back to version about 2.0 but it has never been implemented.

Act! keeps me organized and keeps me on a daily touch schedule. It'a integration options are great. I walk into the office and my day of sales calls/emails/touches are laid out for me.

It's still a winner
I use it for tracking prospects and clients as well as for reminders for follow ups

It may not have all the bells and whistles of some of the newest programs but everything is laid out in front of you to quickly see the whole picture of your clients and prospects.

Ease of use, great tabs for everything I need. I have used Customer Support and they have been very responsive and kind.
Nachteile
Sometimes the print feature is confusing and I would like a tab where I can make a list. I would also like a tab for photos.

Dinosaur Program
Vorteile
Nothing - this program and all it's components is sold from the sales level as the answer to all of your business needs... but you have to run your business very specifically in order to make sure it works the way they want it to. No macs, you must have dedicated workers to spend their entire days creating ad campaigns and updating the information - because if my sales team tried to do it - we would never get any sales work done.
Nachteile
Lag time is HORRIBLE. Customer service is lacking. Updates - haven't seen any improvement in the 8 years i've been using it. the 'solution" for not being Mac compatible (which is laughable in 2018) - is to use the Cloud version on their server - it's seriously the most horrible thing and biggest waste of time. I would much rather create my own manual spreadsheets in google docs to organize my client database.

Quality CRM Product
Vorteile
Easy to use and easy to setup, the software is ready direct from installation and the built in reporting and functionality is fantastic.
Nachteile
The backup system is not very reliable on the server based system. Not sure if they have a cloud based system but that would improve things.

Has been a good tool for us as a small to medium business but beginning to require more functionality - support for the latest upgrade has been very intense and expensive

Pretty Pleased
Overall, I really like the ACT! program. It is not very easy to change the fields, though. Fortunately, customer service will walk you through it.

You can set your own fields to the information you want most for your clients. They have really good customer service.

V22 is not up to standards
Customer support has told me this issues has been previously reported and has been escalated to their developers. They have no time frame for fixing this issue. So, they know it doesn't work, but have no idea when it will be fixed. Until then I would avoid this product.

This program has been around for 30 plus years and has be a reliable and easy to use tool for managing contact information.
Nachteile
This version has issues. Text does not line up in the appropriate boxes and the notes page adds lines and deletes tabs and space when you save.

Very Helpful
The support staff are excellent and will go above and beyond to help me if there are any issue. Mostly user issues and not knowing enough about the processes.

Nachteile
There are lots of you tube videos about ACT on line but i think there should be more in the help section. Also a Chat option would be ideal. Sometimes it is easier to ask a questions than call.

Things that are gone
Vorteile
I needed to upgrade my Act software last November and for many uses on a daily basis, I'm glad I did -- emails out through Outlook, documents out through Word including one-off letters and the envelopes, and certainly the maintenance of people in groups and subgroups. Not complaining about those things.
When I upgraded I paid for the 30 day tech support that included installing the V21 and a week later getting the tech on my computer to clear up a few things. The charge was well worth it.
Nachteile
But there are a couple of major steps backwards for me. I am given 30-50 business cards per month and for years with previous Act! versions (I now have V21 Pro) I was able to use a Cardscan to scan the business cards into Act. It saved a lot of time, allowed me to have a picture of the card under "documents" and was quite efficient. Cardscan is not longer compatible with Act! What's worse is that apparently there isn't any brand of scanner or Android App that is.
I am trying to do a workaround of some kind to perhaps scan to Excel and then import to Act, but gee, what an inefficient pain.
For years I have used a Dymo Labelwriter to print mailing labels directly from Act and that's no longer possible. The usefulness of printing a label or two was great. But no longer with V21 Pro.

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS CRM
Vorteile
Considering the pathetic customer support, I would have to say - nothing! Our inability to reach Customer Support to resolve our conversion issue has rendered the CRM useless.
Nachteile
Our small company has been successfully using ACT for years and three weeks ago we moved from the server version to the cloud. Since we made the switch we have been literally "dead in the water" as some of our data did not make the conversion and we have been unable to reach anyone from Customer Support to help us resolve this issue even though we purchased the Premium Support Package . Last week our head of IT was on hold for 1.5 hours before someone answered the phone only to be told he had reached the wrong help line, was transferred to another help desk, was on hold for another hour before he finally gave up. This is simply not okay!!!

Sometimes this programs performs glitchy. Hope these glitches will be addressed in future versions available.

ACT as your CRM
I have used Act as a pre call planner, the call, and the post call. So I know what to say or bring next visit.
Vorteile
Act has been around forever, and a lot of companies still use it. It is very simple to navigate, even for beginners. As a CRM, it is very easy to enter the various fields. You are part of a sales force, and you download your data, and now you are ready to prospect and make your call, which you document in Act. Any contact, notes, tasks, are very easy to enter and populate. So it's like a digital assistant.
Nachteile
It could use more areas to document and populate. Act is not new technology, and the old is very basic, compared to salesforce and goldmine.

Love it!
I am able to find information at my fingertips when I have questions about their system. Makes my phone calls a lot quicker. I don't have to put people on hold or call them back.
Vorteile
This software has everything we need about the installation and history of the customer.
Nachteile
I wish there was a way to integrate the install side to service side. It is a major pain when you are in one side and you get a phone call and you have to jump out of what you were doing to go to the other side . Plus most of the time once a system is installed they become a regular customer and you have to move all that information over to the service side. But other than that it is a great product.

Not the Worst But Not Keeping Up
Vorteile
Our server-based ACT Premium 2012 is fairly easy to use and has been reliable. It is easy to look up contacts or companies or to sort based on a variety of fields.
Nachteile
We purchased this product because we were already using ACT and could transfer our existing database fairly easily to another version of ACT but not to other software. This is an expensive product, expensive to upgrade, and post-warranty support is also expensive. If you want to use it from a company server rather than ACT's cloud you must install the end-user software on a 32 bit computer rather than 64 bit. This is RIDICULOUS! 32 bit computers are more expensive and offer less. We considered upgrading to a later version of ACT until a sales rep told me that even later versions require a 32 bit PC. Additionally, ACT only works with Microsoft Explorer, another ridiculous requirement. Yet, ACT does not take advantage of true Windows features like storing multiple entries in the clipboard. The software is filled with "lazy" programming; for example in many fields your current position in the software is ignored and the used has to scroll unnecessarily through a pull-down list.
We are currently considering other programs.

Cloud premium v.20 sucks
I really wish someone cared enough to see how much I have called and say hey I am sorry you are having so many issues and then actually solve the problem.
Vorteile
I have used it for twenty five years and it has been my source for CRM. I liked how it worked when it was on my machine locally (it currently resides on my server but something causes it to go out)
Nachteile
I have spent 60 hours on the phone with customer act customer support because from Premium v18-20 I have had nothing but problems. It throws errors daily. When they fix it, it breaks again within a week. To get a level two tech scheduled, which seems to be the only tech that can handle my issues took me 25mins. Then I have to wait a day for them to call me. Then on average two computers take about 3 hours total to get up and running and then it breaks again. I am about ready to go back to paper.

Highly customizable fields. At each upgrade, all my changes are carried forward without me needing to do anything. Solid follow-up system.
Nachteile
My only complaint is the size of the application on the screen. The settings that I use on the screen work for all my other programs. This displays just a bit smaller than I would like. Haven't found a way to correct.

Good, I like the custom fields.
Vorteile
Custom fields. Ease of backup. I like that you can save multiple layouts. I do not like that the layout doesn't fit my screen using a typical new HD monitor. I either have to keep the type really small or thevtext gets very blurry.
Syncing with iPhone - your app doesn't include all the fields. Every time there is a major windows update, ACT has issues. For many years I have asked for a couple of features to be added and was always told by tech support that it should be Easy to add, but nothing ever happens.

I can stay very organized with our files and contacts.
Vorteile
The product is easy to use and simple to explain how to use to others as well. I like how simple it is to store notes, templates, and contacts. The help/tutorial options are easy to navigate as well.
Nachteile
What I like least about Act! is how outdated the software is. I use the template software quite a bit and it seems like 1990's software/technology. I think a more modern look will make others want to use this software more for their business.

We used Act in small business environments for a long time, but now it is so important for a CRM to include communication tools and interact with other applications. Act does not make this simple at all, and for the price you would think they would or at least offer okay support.

As far as CRM's go, it is does make it easy to track customer/employee information and allows the data to be easily retrievable.
Nachteile
It is expensive and considering it does not support features that comes standard with many other CRM's you would think it would at least have usable integration functions/options that would work with 3rd party apps/services that can do what you need.

contact database worth getting
I have been using Act! at different jobs for the past 25+ years, the features that have been added and capabilities is really more than i have learned how to do, but if i need it , it is available, all i have to do is read up on it.
I also love the import and export feature.. easy to use, it does not require i look up any "how to's", the process is logical and reasonable- not Rocket Science.

This software is user friendly and allows you to do any function in a variety of ways, for instance searching for a company, a person or a note you typed in.
Nachteile
The network and sync at times is a challenge to me, however the technical service they provide usually helps me out of a jam.

ACT database
I’ve been using AGT since the first version. I have always promoted it with the organizations I belong too. The program hasn’t changed in regards to which is of use. My only issues are working with the Internet with it. I sold my company on using the program years ago and the Internet version then was a disaster. I haven’t had a chance to use it much with the new version for the Internet so I really can’t give you an honest opinion. However I didn’t like the screens available with the cloud versus Having the ACT pro download.

ACT! CRM for the Small Business
Vorteile
ACT is super easy to customize and has many add-ons that can help you do things that OOB doesn't provide to you. The best thing about this software is that it truly is so easy to navigate through and make it your own without depending on someone else to do it. If you take the time to learn what it can do you can easily learn how to change the layouts and truly make it unbelievable for your entire office.

The Most Intuitive and Powerful Sales Tool You Can Have
I have used Act! from the beginning. With that, I mean from inception to today. As a sales representative, I became an expert user of Act! It served as the foundation for my success and gave me an unfair advantage over my peers. While my fellow sales reps worked harder and harder, I worked harder but smarter, winning every sales contest and breaking a few records in the process. As a Regional Sales Manager and VP of Sales, I used the science that Act! afforded me with while my competitors relied on luck. Now, as a consultant, I recommend and teach Act! as the foundation of a solid process. I have turned down consulting contracts because the client company did not and would not install Act! As a sales writer, published in such magazines as Selling Power and Life Insurance Selling, I have recommended and used Act! in dozens of articles and a few books. Act! is key to a successful sales career.

Vorteile
I love that I can customize the colors, font size, page layout, tabs and everything else! I have been using ACT for at least 25 years and think it has everything anyone would need, regardless of profession. It is easy to work with once you get to know some basics. You can make different templates that enable you to have different views and show different information. So many features! It works well with WORD and I understand it can be used with G-mail. Best use is with Microsoft Outlook.
Nachteile
I don't like the change you made for the left side of template. It is dark gray and I don't know how to change that color!

Great until you need support
You need to put more Tech support people that know what they're doing to help those that have had this software for over 8 years!!!!! It's such a pain to get through to you for help.
Vorteile
Ease of storing, using databases once the horrific install and debugging is done. I really don't have anything else to say about the product.
Nachteile
Terrible, terrible customer support. No one answers the Tech Support line ever. If you call Sales, they give you 20 excuses as to why no one can help you. You might get an email from Tech Support telling you to do it yourself via links. Bottom line, sales people are great just don't look for anyone to help with debugging. The upgrades are often and every time you do an upgrade, you MUST contact Tech support because there are constant bugs

Customer Service is Awful
Vorteile
It is a good CRM solution. It works well with my sales team. It accomplishes what I need it to do.
Nachteile
Customer service is horrible. There are times where the software would go down and they would not compensate or even be concerned that their software wasn't working. I have spent numerous hours in one day trying to tell them my software was broken and they would never listen or fix the problem. It took another hour to escalate it to a manager or supervisor who didn't know how to fix the problem or give a solution. Frustrating.

I very much appreciate the degree of customizability of fields. This allows relevance for the type of data I need to collect, store and utilize.
Nachteile
I started with ACT! when they first opened and used them for many years. Developed a whole recruiting "database" because of customizability, but the program was a memory and speed hog. Took a 5-year, personal sabbatical, then signed up for free trial. I have never had so many difficulties with any software program as I have with ACT! I had expected great new developments, but found that the cloud-based program conflicted with my preferred browsers; the computer-based program was very unstable, with constant errors, shut-downs, and functions that were just not working properly. It has gotten increasingly unstable. Also, today it is necessary for a CRM to be compatible with other marketing programs. The ACT! 18 has very little compatibility. A minimum requirement for it's touted e-mail marketing program is that it would be compatible with gmail - it is not. My hopes of using this program have been dashed - I'm so disappointed!

Long time user of ACT
Being a user of ACT for decades, I keep notes in my database to refer to later. If someone orders something from me years later, yup, I have their information. It's nice when I can ask how old their kids are now or if they still have the pontoon boat.
Vorteile
People think I remember lots of things, but I just put detailed notes in ACT and retrieve them when necessary.
Nachteile
Bugginess with Windows 10. I have never had so many tech support calls and need to upgrade my software since Windows 10 came in the picture! SQL Server issues, incompatibility with other software (fixed with tech support). I spent hours one day with tech support, another 3 hours another day and just decided to upgrade because they assured me that the new upgrade would fix my issues. So far, so good.

Easy to use, lots of features, valuable add-ons available from third-party suppliers.

Too many features which makes it costly for a very small business. I use about 20% of the features - at most.

I liked it a lot. Sad that the business transitioned to another program.
Vorteile
The customer tracking and connectivity to quick books was awesome. A bit dated look, but just worked.

My only issues with it was that it was a bit slow. Beyond that it was all positive.

How do you get support for problems
I inherited the decision to use Act! software from a former coworker. Most of the time it works all right. However, every few weeks, the option to email directly out of Act! just seems to stop working. Restarting the software, and the computer doesn't help, neither do the articles in the "help" section.
This is something that I can hack around, copying and pasting email address out of Act! and into my Outlook, or exporting contacts to Excel and then copying multiple addresses into Outlook. However, my boss is less tech savvy and just wants the software to work the way it's supposed to.
I tried calling the support line and did not have good results. Even with the error code, the technician was unable to provide an answer. He offered to remote log on to one of our computers to solve the issue, but that won't help us the next time the issue occurs. Having tech support that explains why the problem occurs and how to fix it in the future would make a world of difference with this software!

Information at our finger tips
So far things have gone well. I feel as we continue to use the product we will be able to use it in more ways and thus expand and be even more successful. It is a beneficial product that we need to learn how to use to its full capacity.
Vorteile
As a newer user of ACT! I have found it helpful to have a place to capture customer information that I can then easily share with my co-workers. As a small business this gives us the feel of a larger organization, it has helped with our efficiency and effectiveness and has improved customer service. Saving time and being able to capture vital customer information is necessary for our success.
Nachteile
Took a little time to get use to where everything is and how to properly utilize.
