Amazon RDS - Keeping it simple & easy
Overall very satisfied. It worked for our use case.
Vorteile
Easy to setup and running. All cloudwatch metrics made available like other AWS services. Ability to take snapshots, scale up horizontally and vertically across environments and depending upon load. We were able to automate our build and deployments using terraform scripts. Automated Backups are stored in S3 so you can retrieve backups when needed. Pay as you go like traditional EC2 metered cost model. You can predict your montly/yearly estimates before hand. It just works!
Supports a wide range of DB's - PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL, etc.
Nachteile
Security setup may take time as its controlled by security groups. So it takes time to troubleshoot if you are not able to connect from local or any other remote instance.
Pricing may start to increase when you upgrade your instance types and add replication nodes etc.

Great managed database solution
Managing database servers is an expensive time sink. RDS lets you focus more on the business needs instead of managing servers.
Vorteile
It makes your life way easier by not having to manage a database server. Amazon RDS abstracts all the server stuff away so you just focus on managing the actual database content itself.
Nachteile
The UI is a bit clunky and some of the parameterization options are a bit difficult to use. There used to be a couple of bugs as well but they were fixed thankfully. With the lack of control over the server it can be a bit annoying if something is broken and you can't fix it.

Go-to solution for database hosting on AWS
Vorteile
We're using Amazon RDS PostgreSQL.
Our database use case is pretty trivial, so we're entirely satisfied with RDS experience.
Database is fast and efficient, very easy to scale by changing instance types, adding more disk I/O, or spinning up read replicas. Backups do not have significant performance penalty.
With some careful planning it is very easy to migrate between different software versions.
Reserved instances make it a very compelling offering.
Nachteile
It gets expensive, but if you consider the fact that you don't need to deal with many daily operational issue, it's well worth the price.
You can only add storage capacity (no storage downsizing possible without a complex migration process).

Watch out for billing surprises
Vorteile
Amazon has worked hard to democratises databases, it's easy to set up a variety of different type of databases: SQL, Oracle, MySQL etc and perform things that typically have been a little more complicated with just a few clicks for example snapshots and database mirrors for you analytical platform.
Choose the region in which you're seeking to operate with just a few clicks, and it's pretty easy to kick off auto-scaling etc.
Nachteile
You need to be careful with billing surprises, make sure that you're familiar with Cloudwatch before you start playing with RDS.
Keep an eye on how much it's costing you.
Amazon may be elastic, but your budget probably lacks the same amount of elasticity.

Forget about management!
As most AWS services, it is super useful when your business is in a phase where you need more services and less time to manage them. If you can pay for the maintenance maybe you prefer to optimize your setup managing it by yourself.
Vorteile
You can set it up with a few clicks only, and you get a fully managed database instance: forget about backups, OS updates, etc. It even sets up High Availability for you if needed, creating multiple nodes. You can choose the resources of the system (CPU, Hard Disk, memory) and other configurations (DBMS parameters, extra read nodes…)
Nachteile
You can only scale resources by using a bigger instance type (it means more CPU and more RAM) or replica nodes. Eg. you cannot set up a Raid disk configuration to improve I/O.

Best "cloud" rDB implementation so far
I've been using AWS since 2015 and to be fair, it has only improved all this time. Being RDS one of the most commonly used services, I have plenty of experience with it (including the support team behind it) and I only have good things to say about it.
Vorteile
- Fully managed database
- Access to all the configuration options you would usually do when tweaking the configuration file(s)
- Top notch support
- High-availability is just a few mouse clicks away
- Incredible easy to setup master/slave scenarios
- Great backup (snapshot) service
- Great performance with basic monitoring included
- You get the database engine you already know without the hassle to have to set it up by yourself
Nachteile

Review for Amazon RDS
Amazon RDS is very useful for anyone who wants to maintain a relational database in order to use resources on demand, since it is a cloud service. The system has a configuration and management interface that demands very little cognitive load for its use, providing several resources to access it.
Vorteile
Very easy to use, as the system provides resources to setup, operate and scale in a simplified way.
Nachteile
It doesn't support performance insight. As it is a cloud service, a cost-benefit analysis must be carried out to verify that it will not be too expensive to maintain the system.

A simple setting up relational database in the cloud
We use RDS with MySQL and PostgreSQL as primary database for my Applications which deploys in EC2 and ECS, AWS IAM and VPC are used to limit access to RDS only from the backed Component and do not expose RDS to publish. we reply on AWS on backup, snapshot and database patch.
Vorteile
Amazon RDS is easy to create and maintain, just a few clicks to set up a new Database instance and AWS will take care of all maintenance and upgrade task. RDS is well integrated with other AWS component for security, role-based access and query access. RDS is cheap compared with other solution and it has flexible on select instance size, engine, purchase mode and scale mode for cost-optimized. AWS RDS provides fast response and very reliable
Nachteile
We should trickly use AWS version of the database engine. Its database logs are not kept for a long time and we have to use additional solution for keeping the log.

Easiest database management there is
Peace of mind if it's about database administration, backup and availability.
Vorteile
It's fully managed database service with multiple database types available (Amazon Aurora, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server) - you can chose whatever you like or used to run. It's really easy to migrate from existing database of the same type. RDS is highly available and durable service if you chose to run in multi AZ (multiple availability zone/datacenter) scenario (master/slave replication). Amazon will do all the administration task like upgrades or failover for you. Max database storage size is 16 TB (in most cases) and you pay only for what you use.
Nachteile
It'a a little pricey and not all advance database configuration/administratio options are available if you compare it to on premise deployment.

A good fit
All our commercial products run on Aws Rds severs and overall we are happy with it. Server configuration is a breeze, performance is steady, but cost is not the lowest, for sure.
Vorteile
- the ease of setting up and getting ready with the first instance
- the multitude of options when getting to advanced level
- the performance of the Aurora engine
Nachteile
- could not get the fastest performance being connected from remote vs connect from another Aws instance. A minimum 60ms overhead is added to every query, which disappears running the client on an ec2

Amazon RDS : High uptime and faster processing in-cloud database management
Amazon RDS is very reliable and easy to use it support various types of databases including widely used MySQL and others like Postgres, aurora without worrying the infrastructure.
IT is very easy to migrate from existing or new database also it has helped us to avoid downtime with Multi-AZ setup.
Vorteile
1. RDS is very fast and feasible to fetch and manage the data.
2. Version are dynamic and can be chosen/changed through simple steps.
3. Restriction can be easily managed through subnets and security groups.
4. It has high uptime overcoming downtime and can be scaled easily.
Nachteile
1. Some time for the beginners it is not easy to setup or manage.
2. Pricing is bit high if you are creating a small instance DB.
3. Integrations with 3rd party is quite a bit complex.
4. No fully admin controls are given to manage the DB.

Database service that allows you to scale easily and quickly
Very good. Started using it when we were a small startup and it allowed us to easily scale to a full grown portal.
Vorteile
A lot of server tiers available to choose from, good when you need to start out with a smaller instance. Like to option to quickly create snapshots or restore a backup. Multi-az is a nice freaute to have that can save your business when things go south.
Nachteile
Halted instances are booted back up after 7 days automatically, so you can't really have an instance that is stopped for a long time. Since it's not a self-hosted service, there are some low level features that are missing.

AWS RDS Review
My company need a simple and fast scalable solution for managing MySQL databases therefore we chose RDS. Prior to RDS we were managing DB clusters installed on VMs on Hyper Visors, and it was a cumbersome job. Though switching to RDS does make our life easy but RDS is not a cheap solution though.
Vorteile
Easily Scalable as per need.
AWS manage you infrastructure completely.
Fast Disaster recovery if planned the architecture correctly.
Multi AZ deployment and Read replica supported.
Supported various DB services like MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server and Postgres.
Backup procedure is very easy.
Nachteile
Cost on higher side.
Lack of control on your DB instance, though it's good but at times you need some tweaking todo.

RDS for Distributed Services
I use RDS every day across a number of products. It's always been my go-to for a managed database service.
Vorteile
RDS is highly available, easy to scale and extremely customisable. Whether I want to set up a small MySQL database or a PostgreSQL instance to be run at scale, RDS is my first port of call.
Nachteile
RDS can start to get pricey as the instance sizes increase. For most consumers with relatively optimised database queries, this would not be an issue - but for those that have not aligned their applications for efficiency, this could be problematic.

Dependable Database management solution
Overall it has amazing control features and i have never experienced any kind of downtime with them, they also have very enhanced security features so data birch is out of the question.
Vorteile
I is easy to integrate and implement also the customer support is quite good when one is having problems with any of their features. Its also important to note that the backup and recovery are free if you turn on the automation feature
Nachteile
Auto backup is not automatically turned on so if one forgets to turn it on this might cause challenges in the long run, also i don't think its right even after paying for the solution upfront that one has to leave their financial information on the system

Easy way to put DB in the cloud

Vorteile
Amazon is getting good at putting DB in the cloud that before you know it, it will be as easy and syncing data to another computer.
Amazon is in the right track and not for long other companies will follow and make their disaster recovery simple to do.
Nachteile

Amazon RDS is cheapest database service i have used so far
The benefit we got from using RDS is that we have full control of the RDS instance. Unlike heroku RDS allows me to create any number of databases i want plus it provides 20 GB of PostgresSQL instance in its free tier
Vorteile
Amazon RDS provides arelational database instance that you can use to create any number to databases. All data are stored in SSD that provides faster read and write compared to conventional magnetic disk. Data can be secured by applying a security group such that the database can get request from within AWS (EC2 servers). RDS provides variety of databases each with their free tier.
Nachteile
Prices to enable multi availability zones for an instance is just double to their singe availability zone. It is too costly. For beginner the set up of RDS is quite confusing. Sometimes It doesn't display the estimated price of while setting up resources of an instance.

Vorteile
What I like about RDS is the variety of database options from both a hardware and software standpoint. In addition, it's easy to have a database stood up within 10 to 15 minutes.
Nachteile
The fact that the database will start from a stopped state after 7 days is particularly annoying. This could be remedied by using lambda to shut it down, but that's added work. Only two cons about the product:
1. Customer support took several days to solve a critical problem I had with my account in the beginning of 2019. My service was down for two days, but this could have been sold easily if I got a faster response from the team.
2. Default max connections soft limit on MySQL databases is too low, which makes your service go down if you have a reasonable amount of traffic. I could solve that after a few hours researching how to change this configuration and also had a friend who uses RDS and had the same issue. We both almost stopped using it before knowing how to fix that.

For all their services, Amazon charges a premium. RDS is looks a bit expensive than setting up your own database but if calculated for man hours, it is definitely very cheap.

Cloud base Data
My old man has a big database of tires, it's huge. And for his stores, he needed to access the data quick enough to give prices or stocks. We first try a local server, which wasn't as fast or as big as we needed. Amazon took the job and did it perfectly.
Vorteile
If you need some data on the cloud for your software, you can totally trust Amazon to do it. Their servers are totally protected and fast enough to give you the info you need. Even high portions of data can go into it without much problem.
Nachteile
The price can go sometimes high if some storage, but it's totally worth it if you need it to be secure and functional at all times.

Amazon RDS: Simple, flexible and highly scalable
Vorteile
One of the best features of Amazon RDS is that is highly scalable. I like how easy it is to scale the CPU capacity and the RAM of any database without any downtime.
The choice of choosing the DB type you need is another feature i really like a lot.
Another thing that's worthy of mention is the cost. It's relatively very cheap, especially when compared to similar services.
Nachteile
The only thing I can point out here is that the initial implementation is time consuming and involves going through lots of steps.

The easiest database server
RDS is without doubts a complex, hard to master system, but the basics are easy enough to kick off a project in very short time. In the long run you get a best in class reliability and performances without comparison.
Vorteile
Setting up a PostgreSQL server can be a daunting task and keeping it secure and protected is even more challenging.
A managed database solution solves all this problems and many more. RDS in particular is quite easy to set up (at least in the basics) and it is very fast and reliable.
Nachteile
On the other hand there are a lot (I mean, a LOT) of options and settings, so the service is by no mean intended for causal users. A serious preliminary study of platform's usage is strongly advised.
