I have used this software for 20 years, and even when I have upgraded, even though the appearance may be different, you basically can start working right away and work through the changes in the upgrades. I like the fact that any report that you need, you can email it to yourself without having to print it. You can also convert to an excel version.

I really haven't had any issues to complain about with this software. I use 2 different company files within the software and have no issues.

Everything you need comes right out of the box. QuickBooks holds your hand as best it can when setting up a company from scratch. Most novice users with a little bit of accounting experience will appreciate the ease of setup when starting from scratch.

The ability to customize your company is nearly endless. QuickBooks has every feature and function you could ever want in accounting software for a small to medium sized company. The reports are great, the way it can autofill for you almost everywhere, and the home screen is very easy and makes total sense.

I like that QuickBooks is industry standard, so you can find helpful videos, tips, and tricks, all over the internet.

Nachteile

If you have no accounting experience, you can very easily get lost with QuickBooks. Yes, it does a fairly good job of holding your hand, but many times you have no idea what the next step needs to be and sometimes you just have to guess. Those times are few, but can sometimes be critical (like getting a deposit to show up on your account register after getting paid.)

QuickBooks is not very fast to start and the auto backup on exit function is not intuitive to setup. If you backing up to a drive across your network, count on your exits sometimes taking minutes at a time. QuickBooks does not handle file open, close, and backup requests very quickly. I don't know why it is so slow at those actions, especially across a Gigabit network, but know going in that file operations are slow.

QuickBooks will absolutely HOUND you about buying additional services. I haven't found a way to get rid of those permanently.

Making reconciliations in your bank account with a few simple clicks is marvelous, totally hassle-free thanks to a friendly UI that anyone with just basic accounting skills can use from day 1, it solves all our financial needs in one service.

The Online version against the Desktop lacks a lot of features, making it sometimes very frustrating and cumbersome, simple things, like amending the currency for a vendor, or adding a memo to a quick check take. too many steps.

The software needs improvement from an installation and availability standpoint. We have used this software in numerous environments with consistent results. This includes needing to routinely rerun the server database manager so users can open company files. Often this needs a little troubleshooting and is a nuisance for both IT and the users. This occurs on both newer and older installs.

There are many features that help with balancing business books, their ledgers, reconciliation, and overall balance and income sheet analysis. Very essential for Accountants!

I think they can do a better job with the integration piece of bank documents to the QuickBooks software. Sometimes the sync is not clean and that's part to the type of bank ad their statements but there can be some collaboration there with the QuickBooks developers.

QuickBooks is a great Accounting and Bookkeeping software, they are the standard, and everyone else is essentially trying to copy their look and feel. The best thing about it is how easy to use it is.

The thing I like the least about QuickBooks is it's lack of security, it has a hard time limiting access it allows you to post to any account, and any period. It would be difficult to implement internal controls if you are using this software

I like how simple it is to enter journal entries and transactions, which definitely helps alleviates the tedium of having to update a company's books. The financial statements also come out very clean and organized.

There's not much I don't like about this software other than the pop-ups and constant update notifications that appear. I don't appreciate how everytime I open up a file, I either have to update the file or upgrade to the next version. Sometimes large files take awhile to load and sometimes Quickbooks isn't compatible with my computer or windows version.

I've used Quickbooks for most of my professional career. Once you learn the software, it is fairly easy to use. It helps if you have a basic understanding of accounting. It's ideal for small business use. You can create your own invoices that include logos or use pre-printed paper. I mostly use it for printing checks. The built in reports are nice but I tend to use the custom detailed transaction report most of the time. You can select your parameters for the data you want to see in your report. It definitely helps when it comes to bank reconciliations.

Nachteile

The software can be a tad bit difficult to use at first. I would seek out someone who's used it in past to give you a crash course. If you're comfortable with exploring the capabilities of software, you can get to know Quickbooks rather well and use it to it's fullest potential. The good thing is, you can always undo or delete something. The bad news is, most government auditing agencies don't like that and won't approve the software for use in a government setting.

Price to value. For the average small business, it does everything you need, including Payroll, invoicing. I've used Mac, PC, cloud accountant, and QuickBooks Desktop Premier with Industry Editions. I currently use QuickBooks Desktop Premier 2018 with Industry Editions for Windows. Ease of sharing data with accountant and them updating books as needed.

Nachteile

Importing from other applications is a real hassle. For example, connecting a shopping cart, it creates a new customer for every NAME. I sell to companies. I don't want it to match names, so synching data requires a 3rd party tool. It's a little buggy sometimes. A more robust accounting system would not let you delete records (internal fraud). Deposits from Merchant services are net of their fees on every transaction, reconciliation nightmare. Better off getting a 3rd party tool and merchant account that syncs to QB. I didn't like the cloud version at all- too many limitations but it's been so long don't recall what they were.

In the past I have had trouble with more than one user using the software at the same time. I have also experienced many glitches and lag time with the software.

We have a license which only allows one user to be logged in at at time. Normally this isn't a problem, until someone forgets to log out of the account and you can't log in from another device.

QuickBooks is very easy to navigate. You don't need an accounting degree to get up and going quickly with QuickBooks. I have used other accounting software in various jobs that cost more money without some of the features that are basic in QuickBooks. I found myself saying so often, "Well you can do this in QuickBooks"!

I have not really found any shortcomings in my personal use with the QuickBooks software. I have had people in the corporate world say they thought we could not use QuickBooks to meet all of our needs. I don't know the accuracy of this but would love to see a robust QuickBooks that could handle larger corporations.

Loved how easy the system is and the app makes it an easy on the go solution. I've used for pesonal taxes and also when working at the families small business. My aunt manages all the business finances personally and QuickBooks is how. Once I learned the system (easy Todo) it became easy for me to fill in for her and help with the accounting / invoicing part time.

The software has allowed us the freedom to customize how we typically bill. In a bill by the hour world, that is an important feature that other software has not provided in the past.

One downside is that the specialty invoice will not take all fields from the Customer data entered at the beginning of the Job. We like to put our Job Number and Title on the Invoice. So, we just used another field that we don't use in the Custom Invoice, and made that the location for these items.

QuickBooks as an accounting software delivers its promise - providing accounting reports easily and accurately. I was impressed the first time I used it as if I am expert in Accounting though I am not that good in knowing and identifying accounting operations. I like its power of providing immediate calculations from the first process of recording company's transactions till the generation of the mostly the last step of accounting process, reversing of journal entries.

QuickBooks is easy to learn, and it allows almost complete customization of how you wish to run your books. They provide great reporting functionality that lets you pull data in various fashions. Printing checks is as easy as popping a check template in the printer, and the bank synchronize feature makes it super easy to enter individual charges (almost no manual entry remains).

The software can be buggy. While the bugs don't impact your financials, they make it increasingly difficult to complete certain tasks until you log out/back in or restart the app on occasion. I think it has largely to do with syncing issues, but it's frustrating.

There is a pretty steep learning curve and I wish there were more robust features. Also my encounters with support have been less than helpful some times, but other times they are fantastic. I depends on the issue I suppose.

File corruption is hard to deal with and happens more often that we like. Also the application uses a huge amount of RAM and if there is any kind of network outage, even momentary, the files get corrupted and it takes a bit of work to get it back up and running. Keep regular backups!

All of us here who are responsible for supporting QuickBooks have found it to be unreliable. We are always fixing complaints with it, where it stops working and the user has to restart their computer. If I have to rate the software, I just wouldn't rate it as very good due to the reliability, and the support is also next to useless.

I like that I am able to access a lot of things with quick books like my paystubs from my employer. If I ever lose a paystub, I can easily pull up my data to access whatever I need!

So far the only con I have with quick books is the fact that the workforce portion doesn’t have an app that I can download to access paystubs. If there is one, it doesn’t give an option to download or locate the downloadable version.
