Great Service to Learn CAD
I've only been using FreeCAD for a short time, so I'm by no means an expert, but I've seen that this is a great software and I donated to its development because of that. The community that uses FreeCAD is always helpful and the resources available for learning are plentiful. I feel like more was available for this than some other professional products simply because of the wide community adopment.

Very steep learning curve for a beginner

OPEN CAD, an enriching experience
I try this software as an alternative to others CAD and I really liked it.
Vorteile
Like the most of open source softwares, FreeCAD has a great community, is multi platform, and it becomes better and better.
you can assemble complex mechanism, it's a trustworthy software.
Nachteile
You can face some trouble while you're working with this software but with the community it can be solve.

Quick Fix
Vorteile
We use maya and blender at our office, we needed to convert cad files to .obj files so that we can easily run it on our computers and Free Cad Worked like a charm.
Nachteile
For us it was a bit time consuming to figure out how the program worked and there a only a few tutorials online to help with that but after a while we got the hang of it.

My First CAD Software
This is the best Free CAD software for anyone who have enough free time to learn a new software if you learn how to use you don't need any other. My problem was I don't have enough time to spend on I was working in a company and my job was not related to CAD. My main purpose was to create a solid object and to get its 3d print for personal use. So I needed only the 3d part. Because of the steep learning curve I looked for an alternative. Then I found Design Sparks Mechanical through a Reddit thread and 3D was completely free I switched to DSM didn't regret till now. But remember the free version don't allow STEP file export you have to buy the plugin(one time buy).
Vorteile
I personally like this software
Don't break your pocket (Completely free of charge)
Open source.
Available on mostly all platforms.
Low resource PC I tested it on Intel N3350 it run pretty well.
Good 3d and 2d support.
Support for importing and exporting STEP files.
Nachteile
For me, it was a hard learning curve because of no previous CAD experience.
Not so friendly user interface.
Except the learning cure nothing bad in this software.

Learnt how to put together floorplans in a quick and easy way
Vorteile
once i got into it, it was easy to use. it made making floorplans so much easy to put together, and so quick too.
Nachteile
it took a while to get into the software. there were a number of glitches that we needed to get through first, but once sorted, all was good

I would like to have a command line in order to use the same commands like in the famous Autocad. So an Autocad operator has not to learn cad again.

Desing in 3D and import and export from many formats
Vorteile
Most of the software of design are so restricted, but that no happens with FreeCAD it supports and huge amount of files for you to work, it allows OBJ, STL, DXF, SVG, and so many others, and additionaly brings its on extension for you to save your work direct on the software.
Nachteile
The import process is not always perfect you can find some incompatiblities when you import some formats into the sofware, and sometimes it takes a long time to edit and modify that files, and that is very annoying.

A software for design in 3D
Vorteile
I can create and modelling anything I want with this software and the most important to me is the possibility to modify and edit all the geometric forms that are in my model, becuase I have the option to modify the properties of each element and constantly look how evolve my model into the software.
Nachteile
It brings so much tools, so I recommend you to focus in only want that matters for you, because you can get lost quickly or waste your time trying to use new tools that are not for you.

Great, Free, but . . .
Vorteile
It costs nothing, and provides a good route to 3d CAD work. The work flow is quite different form Autocad or Rhinoceros, but is not difficult to get to grips with and there are some good tutorials on line.
Nachteile
It isn't complete (e.g. there is no dimensioning readily available), and suffers from ongoing development that results in occasional crashes.

Modelling in 3D with this free software
Vorteile
I can do models with a very high level of detail and using complex processes like brep and nurb curves, which allows to do specific forms in a model with high precision and detail. and you can apply this processes to any geometric form to the best model for your work.
Nachteile
It is very difficult to get used to the terms and specifications of the software, because you have to know a lot about of design to use the tools that the software uses properly, because this is a very specilizaed one.

Vorteile
Free, and for the functionnalities that Freecad offers, it can't be beaten on this ! It's not as complet or stable as other "premium" 3D package, but for mechanical design and simple design it's great.
Nachteile
Curve of learning quite hard, because it's not as logicial as it seems on fisrt impressions, maybe because I'm a user of solidworks and thought it would work the same way.

Tough to get the hang of
I wanted to find a free 3D modeler for 3D printing projects.
Vorteile
It was the closet thing i could find to larger software packages that was free.
Nachteile
I may not have given it a fair chance, but i couldn't catch on too quickly. I am very familiar with Inventor and SolidWorks and was looking for a free modeling software. It was not as close to those programs as i had hoped. The fact that this is free may make up for that for most people and once the learning curve is conquered, it may work for many people. I couldn't get that far...

Full of Potential
Vorteile
Easy to use pickup and use with relatively little experience. I use this to create designs for 3D printing and have not been limited by its features.
Nachteile
There are multiple interfaces to perform different tasks. It is a little confusing to remember which of the options to select to achieve the particular goal.

Good for free software.
I’ve had a great experience with using it thus far. I just wish it had some more features.
Vorteile
I love that it’s free first of all! The projections from all angles is amazing and really helpful when designing for clients so they can really get a full picture of what you are designing.
Nachteile
Not really user friendly. If you haven’t already dabbled in similar programs you may have some problems or feel lost.

More use to programmers than architects
Awful. I've been an architect for 50 years and have never used cad because no one can explain how to get started. The people who make these videos and write the tutorials may be very good at what they do but I've not found one yet that can switch me from using a pencil! I don't think any of them are architects. I don't want whizzy pictures I want plans, sections and elevations. I've got as far as drawing a few lines but then they are not to scale, not straight and cant be changed. If anyone has a guide to change my view I would of course be most grateful to look at it but until then I'll stick to a drawing board.

Great Resource
Vorteile
Easy tool for both simple push and pull modeling. If you group items together as you are modeling you can generate a pretty complex 3D object.
Nachteile
Not sure how different this really is from Sketchup. If you already have a similar software, I'm not sure that you'll gain anything.

Easy to use, yet powerful software.
Vorteile
For the most part the ease of use is spectacular. Very easy to pick up and learn without many headaches. Can be mastered in a week or 40 hours.
Nachteile
Some of the modules are outdated however, I have confidence this is going to be addressed int he next software revision.

Open-source CAD application, with emphasis on source code extension, support of any file format, and of course, being really multi-platform. Pretty lightweight on most machines.
Nachteile
FreeCAD is still in beta phase; expect it to be buggy, and be ready to send feedback to the developers.

Used on a monthly basis and no issues at all thus far
Allows us to easily edit, adjust and print our entrance designs.
Vorteile
We use this program to design our entrance for the wrestling events. Much easier than other programs with similar features
Nachteile
So far, nothing negative to report. We've used the program several times to set-up several fundrasier event layouts and we've had zero issues.

Being a community-based free software, it's still seeing lots of improvements. Constant feedback is allowing it to better improve functionality and integration across disciplines.
Nachteile

I use FreeCAD for personal projects. I design prototypes and designs for my projects.
Vorteile
It is free and open-source and that is great for such a useful software. It is lighter that other similar software.

FreeCAD is (surprise) a free 3D CAD program, not as powerful as other CAD programs, but it's free!
Vorteile
The best thing about it is that it's free. It doesn't have all of the features or power of other CAD programs, but you get what you pay for.
Nachteile
It is not as powerful as other CAD software packages, but that's to be expected when you're not paying anything for it. Hopefully more features will come with time.

A good alternative for those who use free software
Vorteile
I have already tried it on Windows and Linux, it seems to me a good free program that allows me to create designs in 2D and 3D in an easy and fast way, performing functions very similar to paid software.
Nachteile
When working on the BETA version I had problems doing common operations such as the "undo" option did not work

Lots of Features but not completely intutive
Overall I like the FreeCAD features, but figuring out the entirety of the software is somewhat tedious.
Vorteile
I liked all of the features that this product offers from the Schematic blueprint drawings to the 3D modeling.
Nachteile
This software isn't as intuitive as other software I have used. The mark of a great software is if it is quite intuitive to figure out how to use, and FreeCAD has a little bit of a learning curve and requires a few youtube videos.

This software is very easy to use, at first you will have to get used to the commands but they are very similar to other CAD programs like Auto Cad etc....

I am having difficulties getting used to some of the icons but I think it is more of a preference thing, not an error.

It’s free. That is the best part of this software. This has allowed me to dabble in learning the ins and outs of CAD modeling.
Nachteile
the learning curve is steep, but I believe this is the case with all CAD modeling software. However more and better learning aids and or tutorials would go a long way to making this a more useful program.

My thoughts on FreeCad
I am neutral about it. It is not the best, but not the worst. It is okay if you are on a budget.
Vorteile
*It's free, which is good for beginners at CAD or those with a low budget
* It has a basic CAD drafting tools
Nachteile
I did not like the way it handles importing STL files, it doesn't focus in on it well and converting to STP format is difficult

This program is free. Can't complain about anything. It gives you everything you need for basic design.
Nachteile
Again can't complain. If FreeCAD wants to throw in a couple of advance features, that would be great. I do not recommend any type of group work on this program.
