I use it for more than 20 web projects - not only shops - and it is creating very strong revenues for my company.
Vorteile
Clear and clean code, template based on smarty and bootstrap (hence lots of possibilities), all important features included, easy to extend. Best experience for a developer. Backend easy to use, includes statistics and guides for successful selling. Great export/import tools. Great and polite(!) community.
Nachteile
CMS capabilities are quite reduced, upgrades not always easy, most plugins and templates are commercial.

Nachteile
The true is that this software did not work for me, it is one of the hardest ecommerce platforms to customize, if you are not familiar with hooks you will have a hard time trying to modify anything. Most of the plugins are not free, so you will end buying a lot of plugins unless you want to spend on a programmer which studied this platform.

PrestaShop supports working with two design sites: Envato and Templatemonster. At Envato, I downloaded a great template for myself, perfect for my tasks. There were over a thousand options and all are pretty good. The first time I see that any CMS has such thoughtful templates.
Nachteile
The demo view mode does not always work, because of which the content is not immediately displayed. Also, I did not like the high requirements for high hosting bandwidth.
