I like the interface, simple and intuitive. By having the app I can study from anywhere on my cell phone. The value is great compared to competitors. It has several languages ​​that are sometimes not available on other platforms.

Nachteile

I didn't like having some languages ​​that you have to learn from another, for example: to learn Greek I already have to know Spanish.

This software allows me to learn a language step by step from simple to difficult. And I always learn in context, which increases my ability to memorize words and language usage. At the same time, it uses multiple forms to test the same expression repeatedly, which helps me draw inferences from one another. Moreover, I don’t need a long time for each level, I don’t feel time wasted, and I don’t feel boring.

This is a piece of software after all, there is no problem in some language expressions, because the system fixed code software will think it is wrong

Duolingo is a fun game like app that helps you learn the basics of another language. The lessons are quick so I can do as many as I have time for. Fun way to learn and compete against other users. I like that your steaks are counted to keep you wanting to do a lesson every day. There are many different languages to choose from to learn.

Nachteile

Some of the sentences you learn are most likely not something you would ever say. There are a lot of ads unless you pay for the pro version. Wish there were different topics and maybe ones that where a bit more exciting. Id say its more for beginners not those who already know the language. Must be used with internet unless you pay for pro.

Duolingo is a great app to have whenever you want to learn a new language. I've been practicing spanish which has been very useful. I enjoy that they send me reminder notifications to make sure I stay consistent in practice.

One thing I wish it would have it a cheaper price for premium users and less ads. It would also be nice to be able to have different types of games as well.

The Daily activities and rewards make this fun and engaging to partake in. The mascot encourages you, albeit on the “more eager” side sometimes. The level up feature feels like a game.

The interface is very easy to use and has improved considerably over the years. The gamification of learning has really helped me stay on track: It is fun to be able to quickly move through each task while still seeing noticeable progress. The whole experience is definitely finely tuned in order to keep you from getting discouraged while also being challenged.

Since the base version is free, there must be ads, but, besides the ads, I wish there were not so many prompts to click through after every lesson. The calculation of points and rewards should be only one or two screens: I want to get on to the next lesson.

By dedicating only 5 months to working with Duolingo, I felt the confidence to speak on the phone with more than 1 client in Italy.

My job needs lots of communication with fellow researcher all over the world. Although most communication in science is always in English, but is is so precious to be able to say at least few greetings sentences in different languages. This makes me look so good and connected with people all the time. And I learnt all from duolingo.

I would love if it had an option to choose only learn small talks in another language than start with some unrelated words.

I am able to work on learning a new language on my phone many nights with my daughter. She and I are both working on this and it's been fun. We were supposed to go abroad last year before COVID hit. Now she's preparing for high school and working on the language again.

I'm not picking up the new language as fast as I'd like. It's not Duolingo's fault so I would not call this a con. It's 100% on me.

This app just seems to work. You pick a language that you want to learn and you start learning it. It takes you through a path that you are actually learning. And, like anything, if you stick with it you will truly learn it. I even have a friend who used it to learn Spanish and she can have a conversation with me in Spanish.

I really liked the way the product communicates with the user. The explanations regarding the ways of studying, how easy it is to understand what the product has to offer, and what the user expects at each stage.
The product is very easy to use.
And the integration is super smooth, I can manage all the functions and perform all the tasks that the product asks me to do.

The product in general is very good, however, there could be a musical dynamic perhaps, where the interaction with the user was done through songs. I didn't find any difficult to use aspects of the product.

I love that the lessons build off each other! The repetition has helped tremendously with my retention of the language!

Sometimes it felt slow-moving, but I just had to remember that the app is paced for the highest retention!

I love that it has a wide range of languages you can choose to learn and they are updated and added onto regularly. In also like that you can learn more than one language at a go.

Duolingo has honestly changed my life. I am an immigrant in Canada and I was interested in learning our second official language- French. Now note, I have no knowledge in French whatsoever. I downloaded DUolingo just for fun and after using it everyday now for six months- I am a French speaker (beginner). Duolingo has amazing teaching techniques with voice recordings, tests and exercises that makes it so easy to learn a new language. Will forever be grateful to Duolingo as eventually the knowledge I've gained in French will as help me to pursue my permanent immigration to Canada!! Love it :)

Can't think of any cons but would suggest Duolingo to upload some e-books and learning material for the beginners to help alongside the app. Maybe this is something they already do.

Duolingo makes language learning easy and fun with different types of lessons, stories and audio lessons. I can go ahead and pick my mode of learning depending on my environment, for example muting sounds and just learning through written text when I'm in a quiet environment. I have been using it to learn Spanish and it helped me become somewhat conversational in a short amount of time.

The gamification aspect I'm sure helps lots of people enjoy Duolingo but it sometimes bothers me. I wish there was a way of opting out.

The lessons are short which makes it easy to do one when you're in a rush or to blast through several when you have more time. It focuses on building sentences/questions and heavy use of repetition which can get a little dull but it is effective and, again, the short lessons make it manageable. There's a good variety of languages available.

It would be fun and useful if there were short videos to watch and then answer questions about, just to mix it up. The app gets you up and running fairly quickly with a language you are not familiar with but is less useful, in my experience, to an intermediate speaker.

I dont think i've seen other learning tools and apps succeed in gamification in the same way as Duolingo. This gives a great advantage for casual learners and can help them develop basics of a language as opposed to a standard learning environment.
It also provides a relatively productive way to handle 'slack time' that you may have during a bus, train or underground trip on the way to work or somewhere else.

Nachteile

The software is great for casual learning. But should you become serious about learning a language to the point of intensive lessons you may find Duolingo lacking compared to a traditional course.

The exercises being based on repetition, you're learning easily without realizing how fast words are being memorized by your brain. The fact that it's usable on the phone or on the computer makes it all the more convenient.

I would love the words I am learning to be more useful. At least those at the start of my journey. Some day I will need to learn how to talk about ham in Japanese but when I am starting just let me learn numbers in peace.
After a while I would need something different that the Green Owl being happy, maybe additional animations since it gets old
