What I liked the most is that the software teaches you a series of languages in an entertaining way. The idea of unlocking levels to advance your knowledge of a language is fantastic. Also, the interface of the software is very easy to use. The interaction with the levels is a lot of fun.

What I liked the least was that the subscription to the premium version of the software does not offer you many new things compared to the free version, beyond new levels.

What i like most about Duolingo is the fact that it is absolutely free and out of all the other language learning apps, it has the widest variety of languages to learn; 37 to be exact. I also like the simplicity of the app. It's so easy to use even for the most ordinary person. The way the app is designed with funny animations is so welcoming that you can actually look forward to learning a language. I also love the way the app is designed to encourage the learner to not give up even when he or she has made a number of errors. Duolingo recognizes that language learning is not easy and patience is a required virtue so when one feels like throwing in the towel, the app is there to remind you in some way that it may be challenging, but it will all be worth it in the end. With all the positive attributes that the app possesses, i believe it is a great and fun tool that can even be used by children and families not just for learning, but for spending leisure.

What i dislike about this software is the lack of option for learning offline. I think learning should not be limited to strong internet connection. If there is a way that the software can be adjusted just a bit to accommodate learners who have poor internet connection, that would be wonderful so that learning goals can be reached faster. When it comes to the ads, there are some ads that are displayed that make me feel uncomfortable even as an adult. For instance If i was using Duolingo in public and some of these ads are shown, then people can question my character and probably any other learner's character.

The learning is made very easy and you have the ability to continue to work through courses you have already learned. There is a global community of users who you can track / compete with if it helps your leardning

I really like the app. It is great to learn the basics. To be clear just using Duolingo to learn a language is not enough. You need other methods as well and most importantly you need to practice with native speakers.
Btw, not only is their platform pleasing, fast, and fun, it works as promised!
the only downside is of course the ads (and hence the 4 stars -- program and content is 5 stars for sure), but hey, IT IS FREE! IGNORING THE ADS IS A SMALL PRICE TO PAY!

Quantity of material varies among languages.
And I was really enjoying the program and the motivation it provided to keep my daily usage streak going., but reporting the bug is not easy, I did my best and after 3 days they have responded. That nippers little bit.

The best thing about learning Spanish with Duolingo is learning with some of my friends in my contacts. We have made a subtle competition and is quite motivating. I am on the basic/free edition and it works fine for me. One of the best feature about Duolingo is that I am able to go back and review exercises I've recently gotten wrong and also listen to the ones i missed. Of course that is on the Doulingo Plus which I was trying for 14 days. It tempted me to subscribe.

Sometimes I get wrong on most obvious expressions since it has its own sort of rigid interpretation. But i often ignore and move on.

I believe that when taking the test to check the user's level, it would be interesting for him to show the eliminated units as completed, the duolingo even jumps, but it does not show the circle as fully filled. The activities also have to be redone in a short time for the circle to keep all filled, which ends up making us go back several times in the same lesson, hindering a little the evolution to other levels. A more specific unit focused on alphabets and numbers would also be nice.

We use this in a multi-learner setting. Software has option to purchase a multi-user platform that is very simple to implement. Duolingo is a web-based app and easy to access anywhere. The number of available languages is staggering and do not require additional purchases to start learning these. Language learning is an engaging, visual based platform. It is easy to track how you're doing and progress through the path.

Nachteile

Not really any cons. Can use this program for free but limited in number of mistakes that can be made if you run out of lives. This is not an issue with the paid subscription.

I just love how easy the app is to use, UI/UX is playful and straight forwards.

Duolingo literally has made learning a language fun.

I love the plethora of languages there are to learn, currently doing spanish and french.

App is quiet interactive, has a lot of assessments and fun ways to really help solidify what you have learnt.

My favorite part and motivator were the score boards and competing with other language learners around the world, I literally would come back day after day just to see who beat my score.

That aside, I love that it requires you to be interactive through typing and voice (click to respond).

I felt accomplished after finishing each assessment/test.

Sometimes the app doesn't recognize that you gave the correct voice answer.

I love learning different languages, this software was the nicest one I have used. You can choose more than one language, it has several types of languages that you can learn. The software has strategies to make the process of learning be very fun, you can learn from the basic to the advanced level, you will learn a lot of vocabulary and grammar and even practice the speaking and listening. If you forget to do the lessons the software will always warn you. Each level you achieve you get some reward.

Nachteile

The only thing I wish the software could improve is to have more explanations about the grammar rules like they do for English. I am learning French with the software but they don't have a table explaning the grammar rules in each lesson like the software does if you are learning English.

Well, for more than two years back I started to learn Swedish language, and believe me I’ve learned a lot! Last month I was in Sweden and me and my family were surprised how much I understand the language and use just with using DuoLingo app!

The ease of use, the contents inside it, the exercises, the grammatic explanations are pretty good, also they have some "died languages", as latin, Irish, and some other dialects, which without this kind of technology would be tend to disappear.

Sometimes the exercises repeat so much, at point to make the user bored, but I know that some people learns with repetition. Therefore, I do not see so much advantage to choose the paid version of it.

I think there are not such a thing of too many tools to help us learn (or improve) languages, so it’s good news that we have apps like Duolingo, one of the best known by the way. And that’s for something. I feel like I’m carrying my English teacher in my pocket, I can do the homework literally everywhere and at my own pace. I think it’s especially useful for beginners or for the lowest level skills.

This app is convenient and easy to use, but I’m not sure if it’s the best way to gain fluency in a language. I’ve been trying to be proficient in English for a while now, and I find it helpful to learn grammar, writing and reading, but not as much to improve my listening or speaking. Nothing like practicing dialogues and conversation with native speakers to do so, these language apps won’t do miracles.

Duolingo is a great tool to learn new language. Some of its best features are: abundance pf pictures to help the user learn even better, the stories that let the user interact with them, the weekly leaderboard that push the user to perform and learn even more, and many more.

The only thing I don't really like in Duolingo are the excessive ads that pop-up after every single lesson. It didn't use to be like that previously, but now it seems making money is the number priority instead of helping user learn new language (like it was originally). Other than that pretty decent software.

It's a clean layout, easy to navigate, fun, nice animation. I've been able to recommend it to people as a free language support enhance their (or their kids') learning (essentially good for everyone young and old).

When using as a support for other language lessons (for me I used it to support my French, Spanish, and Norwegian learning/lessons) it can be hard to understand some of the verbal prompts; as a Canadian I am learning Quebecois French accent and vernacular, and my Norwegian lessons in person were with one kind of accent (very formal language and generic accent) however when I moved to Norway for 6 months I was actually in a completely different dialect than is presented in Duolingo and most of my lessons went out the window (though they were a good jumping off point for the language generally speaking, but Norway has as many dialects as Ireland has regional accents).

I teach languages for a living and one of the biggest challenges was to gauge how much and exactly what the students know. With Duolingo my job became a lot easier with their Duolingo For Schools product. Duolingo already makes language learning fairly simple by avoiding to overcomplicate the learning process with dense grammar and leaning towards a more intuitive experience but when they introduced this new feature on top of that it only made my love for the app even deeper.

Nachteile

Duolingo is a very intuitive app but it falls short when it comes to certain features. For example: it's very difficult to set up Duolingo For Schools and in the mobile app there isn't even any button for it. The student has to go to the settings and look for it.
Also, Duolingo has features for some languages and not for others. I guess this is due to the time it takes to create content but until the day comes this will always feel like a downside.

It's easy to use and has clear navigation. The gamification works really well to motivate me and I feel that I'm learning the basics of the language.

There used to be options to speak and be graded on pronunciation, but this seems to be only for specific languages. I also wish there was an option to learn more practical words. For example, it's great to learn the word for 'tiger' but 'toilet' would probably be more important.

I moved Germany 2 years back and this tool was my support system to learn German. Its so good and it helps you to learn 100s of languages in your own language. You can congratulate and appreciate your friends as well when they complete some course or learn continuously. One of the best thing i like is small stories in new language where you can learn a lot.

Not all features are free but i appreciate the fact you can watch ad's videos to get some trials to check amazing paid features.

Duolingo is using great technics to make learning easy for you, there are audio exercises, short stories...Duolingo has a great rewarding system, to make you really motivated to learn, you can practice any language you want anytime and there are no limits, the thing that I really liked more,
that the app is always in touch with you and sends you notifications every day to remind you of your lessons, to be honest, the software is soo fun, I really enjoy it, and i use it most of my time.it has such a big impact on our lives.

I don't see that ads are a good idea, and i think that can be affecting people while learning and distract them.

The highlight is having the app as your ally at all times. We can always access and learn without any kind of bureaucracy and we will never be wasting time. It's fun and it really teaches and I learn.

What I don't like is having to go back when I don't have access for a long time and I need to redo all the tests. This causes a little demotivation.

I didn't have any problems with Duolingo, but I confess that the placement test could be shorter.
Another thing that prevents it from being a complete course is the lack of interactivity with a native speaker of another language, but as it is a mobile application, it does what it proposes to do.

First learning any language is like widening your mind and personality ,and for this duolingo is key app ,I like it's mistake counter features with broken heart emoji ,and I couldn't stop using the software till I make that 0, all features are amazing and so easy to use even a person who don't know much about using apps can understand it and adapt it,it have 14 days free trial so anyone can try it decided by themself wether it help or not, for me I really like it and found it so helpful.

I tried to learn German with duolingo and it really gave me flavor of the language. It’s good for starters but you really need to practice a lot. I like the gaming idea and the fact that gives the opportunity to learn some words related to a topic as a supplement. For example you can learn some vocabulary necessary for a date.

While it's a fun way to learn new languages, I find the process somewhat slow. I believe it's easy to lose some motivation to keep up, as you might feel you aren't making any real progress.

Well, In Duolingo you can obtain gems for buy some extras resources such as themes, and gadgets; sometimes, Is expensive and you can't buy it. And the plus version quit ads, and give you more facilities for lessons. but I don't think is necessary for the price.
Another problems is the level of languages. For be C1 (advanced) Duolingo isn't enough.

I live the "gameification" aspect of the app. You want to advance in your learning to unlock awards and get to the next level... just like in a video game! Anyone who has a competitive nature, such as myself, loves this! Pushing myself to get the next achievement. Learning becomes fun again through the use of games!

The commercials that appear, without the user's permission, are not appreciated. There never used to be commercials in the past. Additionally, there is a lot of fill-in-the-blank and matching learning exercises, whereas earlier in the app's history, most exercises consisted of vocabulary memorization. I really liked the past emphasis that was placed on the development of a large vocab base and think that with it now missing, the opportunities for effective learning are limited.

The teaching method is very systematic amd.indcludes audio, text and pictorial input and output. Its integrated test modules further aid yoir learning of a language. You can sync your Duolingo with email account thus enabling you to access and continue your progress from where you left on any device. It is available on all computer and smartphone systems.
