Not much , but an improvement I would love to have is , " a simple "click" , or "tag" to blocked sites so as to transfer them to approved sites instead of doing copy and paste . cause if it is only 1 site no problem , but if you have several sites to add , you need to switch from approved sites to reporting , back and forth

Configuration. It's easy to setup and it just works. We have a central internet port and all our traffic goes through this port. So our web titan looks at all the traffic passing through.

Nachteile

I would love to see domains blocked based on their age. If the domain is less than a year old block it.

it is relatively inexpensive and initially easy to deploy.

Nachteile

The licence key being on the config.ini which also managed dns forwarders and bypass ip is difficult to manage once the product it out. The licence key keeps changing so that you cannot audit them in a script. If you need to add a new dns forward, you have to script this which out changing the licence key. Currently our install is still not working as it should as bypass does not seem to be doing its job so we are relying on dns forward when we shouldnt have to. Any changes require scripting. If the licence key was not in the config.ini then ammendments would be easy to make, but i would not recommend this product unless you have a good powershell scripter. We have had various issues with the product that are hard to track until you stumble on them.

Nachteile

Many invalid classifications, many issues with not receiving DNS responses. Single DNS server without backup DNS server

Vorteile

Ease of use, it works great, accurate categories. Administration has been very easy compared to past products we've had.

Nachteile

So far no real complaints. I would like to be able to add full url's in whitelisting. Occasionally we have to manually add a user that doesn't authenticate properly.

It is a set it and forget it SAAS. Deployed for our guest/visitor internet access. Simply works very well, bad and good sites are categorized quickly and access is secured. All for a very good price. Far less than Cisco. Support and Setup were very responsive.

Nachteile

NONE, it does exactly what we need it to do. It is not free. We have not deployed all features, so I cannot attest to those.

I really enjoy using WebTitan software because it is extremely user friendly. Before making the purchase I was given a demo and free access to WebTitan and I was able to pick it up instantly. I really like the homepage for WebTitan which is a nice snap shot of the current web landscape of our company. It shows all of the allowed connections and blocked connections which is nice. This makes it easy to monitor our company in one easy dashboard. The reporting feature was another addition that keep me informed on the spot anytime someone attempts to access a website they shouldn't. Also being able to customize what we block is easy and simple and we also have the ability to white list websites that are under a blocked category.

Nachteile

There isn't anything I dislike about WebTitan but the only thing that can become tedious is there is no home button when in another tab like the Policies tab. If I am in the policies tab I cannot get back 'Home' without editing the URL address. Certainly not something I dislike but something I would like to see enhanced at some point.

Vorteile

I found Spam Titan to be extremely dependable in eliminating spam emails, and false-positives.

Nachteile

I'm not too I.T. savvy - so the setup (for me) required technical help.

Web Titan is used on our patron computers within the library. It is CIPA compliant, and once installed, it basically runs itself. It keeps people safe when using our computers and offers us the freedom to pick and choose what is blocked.

Nachteile

Paying our annual dues was confusing for the city clerk who mails payment by invoice instead of credit card.

Vorteile

Easy to set up and manage, can filter by user, group or IP address. Customer service is excellent and they helped us set up the product very quickly, any config issues were resolved within hours. Reports are very good and quick to run. Very low maintenance once set up

Nachteile

Could have easier to read logs to identify issues as we like to try resolve issues ourselves, other than that we are happy with the product

The simple interface is the best feature. When Cisco bought OpenDNS, they revamped the UI to make it look "modern", but they also made it a lot slower to use and find the info you need. With WebTitan, I am finding that I can log in, quickly look for blocked users, check their individual traffic, and get out in less than 5 minutes. With Umbrella (formerly known as OpenDNS), I just wasn't even bothering to look at traffic because the experience was frustrating. Now with WebTitan, I am finding that I am using it daily again because it is quick and easy to use and doesn't make me feel like I am fighting with the UI.

Nachteile

The only minor complaint I have so far is that I wish the Reporting tab had an option to consolidate hits by domain name. When I am looking at traffic for a single user, it would be very helpful to just click that and see 1 line per domain that they visited rather than a separate line per hit to that domain. I know I can probably write a macro to do it in the CSV file, but being able to do this in the web UI would be amazing.

Robust system, very few issues, needs a reboot 1 a year if we have any problems.

Not that easy to configure, some issues with allowing sites to some users an not others

Ease of use, the capture rate, the amount of false hits. It's super low by the way. Maybe 1 in 2000. Customer support, Titan is super responsive.

The interface is very clean and fast, though a bit outdated-looking. The spam digest reports look nice and contain enough info to be very useful.

Nachteile

The cost is very high. Setting up custom filters is difficult. There should be quicker and easier ways for end-users to block messages from senders that change part of their address every time. Multi-factor authentication would be a plus. Would be nice to configure spam digest timing individually for each domain and possibly multiple digests per day. The Outlook add-in is very user unfriendly to install and configure and there seems to be no notifications of updates.

The interface is just like the Spamtitan so it was an easy onboard. I get everything I need to know in the first screen on the Dashboard; web traffic stats, what sites were blocked, allowed, what categories were hit etc.

Nachteile

Could expand on feature functionality, I have not seen many product changes to this software.

WebTitan gives you a great full picture of the daily internet traffic and allows for blocking of specific websites and categories.

Nachteile

Overall it's a great product with little to no Cons.

I am the person who set this up for a company and I like how simple the process was. After I receive my credentials to log in, I was able to set the filters in less than 30 min. On the end-hosts side, I just needed to change the DNS servers and the filter was working.

Nachteile

Over time, I discovered some domains that were placed in wrong categories. Also, I will like to have DNS servers in Europe for faster responses.

I create different types of websites and applications for my job, I usually check other’s codes as well. In order to protect our work from malware, viruses, and spams, I use and suggest WebTitan. It has a complete set of protection for our software. The reports are in-depth as well, allowing me to determine the source of a problem.

No significant cons at this point in time.

It's too easy to install, setup, use and navigate. It helps to avoid all types of spams and threats. Does not need any manual things, working automatically. Scanning speed and spam detection is perfect.

Not have too many customizations, there is limitations about checking. And sometimes does not working quite good, even not blocking spams.

It's easy and affordable. Much better than running software on local machines because you aren't slowing down local machines with extra software. And you can do maintenance and make changes through any browser. If you need to control a lot of devices, you can do it with WebTitan in one location.

Nachteile

There will always be sites that misidentify themselves as something other than what they are. If a porn site labels itself as "travel", it will be accessible despite the block.

Some perfectly acceptable sites will be blocked, so you will need to whitelist some things. The first month of use there will be a lot of adjustments to make.

Easy to use online control panel for administration, no client to install on end user work stations.

Nachteile

Can be tricky to whitelist domains. A call to customer service the first couple of times will be necessary until you get the hang of it.

Setup was painless, took very little effort from my side to set up, pretty much just set it and forget it. Not much config work to be done. Good value for the setup time involved

Documentation was slightly sparse, although sufficient. Support was good, but maybe a little bit lacking on a couple of minor technical issues encountered during setup.

We love the effectiveness of the spam filter. It's very rare to have any spam slip through the filter.

The user interface would be improved. Sometimes clients have trouble logging in to the system for the first time.

TitanHQ implements a lot of the process we do manually but while knowing what we do automates the process.

Nachteile

The only CON I see is that is not being implemented in institutions, organizations or web base emails like outlook and companies and that Im not getting paid for promoting this amazing platform.

WebTitan was very easy to implement for my client I had it up and running in 15 minutes and it even works for mobile users which is a huge plus for me. The security and filtering it provides is well worth the cost to keep the end users secure and productive.

Nachteile

The only issue I had was trying to pay for the service. Not WebTitan's issue but my bank not allowing the charge to go through on my card due to them being in the UK. My bank issued me a secure check and I mailed it out. I contacted WebTitan and let them know what was going on and had no issues at all.

The catch rate is spectacular and seems to be getting better every day. We get very few false-positives, if any.

Nachteile

The user interface is very slow and not very user friendly or intuitive. The fact that we have to have two separate logins for incoming and outgoing services is also a little frustrating.

I like everything on Webtitan, the policies, the filters, the features of wpad, the reports, maybe has no something bad on it.

Sometimes the support is very slow, but when you can contact with them all the features are really easy.

There was an incident that the on premise Exchange is down for more than 24 hours.
SpamTitan was able to hold all email for the organization.

Nachteile

Not too much option for setup, but in a way this is good also. Also sometimes the web access is too slow and even error. Have to refresh and retry for few times.

Vorteile

Catches viruses and gives the option to release or delete a mail item through an email. Gives me a report everyday on the amount of spam, clean email, and viruses I have received.

Nachteile

The searching will emails is a pain. I have to go to 2 different sites for either incoming or outgoing mail to look for blocked mail. Please put it on 1 server for searches and optimize the searches a little more. I assumed to use * as a wildcard, but maybe that is not known for others.

Vorteile

Blocked spam, allowed users to manage their own filters, tied in with AD for ease of use, outlook plug in was nice.

Nachteile

didn't block some spam, occasionally would let something through, previously mentioned outlook plug in would bug out sometimes requiring a restart of outlook or occasionally a reinstall of the plugin.

WebTitan is easily configured and tech support has been very responsive. Based on the cost to functionality, there is nothing close in the marketplace.

Nachteile

Could have a little more granular per user setup. Example a slight change to one policy based on a certain user.

Fairly easy to implement as SaaS service, but still needs a service installed that runs on all endpoints.

Nachteile

It needs the ability to block nefarious sites at a more granular level. Anonymous reporting is too vague and too pervasive.

Ability to create separate policies for each user on shared systems which are part of a workgroup and not only domains.

The interface is a bit outdated, a more modern interface would be desired. Reports are a bit difficult to navigate.

It catches almost all spam and viruses, that is great. Once it is setup, the users don't have to do anything, it just works.

Some legitimate mail is caught that does not go into the quarantine and requires the spamtitan technicians to manually modify the configuration on their side, not in our control panel.

WebTitan was fairly easy to setup and was up and running in a few minutes. The reporting is not perfect but for our company, it gave plenty of information to gain insight into what our users are doing on the internet. I even like that there is a solution for users that work part of the time outside the office.

Nachteile

It would be nice if the video categories were broken down a little more. There is a category for media/streaming but it seems to block every page that has a video embedded. It would be nice for there to be a "streaming" category only that would block things like Netflix and Hulu but still leave stuff like news sites unblocked.

Vorteile

This software did the job it was designed to do and has made life easier to work with and the web protection better.

Nachteile

It was a bit cumbersome to set up and needed more time to evaluate all the features functions that it had.
