Vorteile

It provides all the tools in one place such as VCS integration, deployment, database connection, build tools like maven. We don't need to switch to terminal tabs for any work.

Nachteile

Software is very heavy and takes up lot of RAM. This needs to be improved by jetbrains team.

It's a very friendly and intuitive site for beginners.

I am starting my first steps learning backend programming and must say that IJ it's very helpfull because it gives you tips, it's very visual so you can see easily the mistake, you can debug steps of your code, and has match with anyother system such as github or cmander. also you can use the terminal at the same integrated development environment.

Nachteile

i don't have so much expertice and didn't use any other integrated development environment, but overall i don't have any cons yet, let's see own it ends.

It integrates perfectly with Android and supports Kotlin out of the box. But of course it does. This is JetBrains.

Nachteile

The UI somehow felt heavy. Slightly cluttered might be a better description. And it felt slow in comparison to other IDEs I have used.

The plugin database is huge. You can install any plugin you want. There is even a vim plugin so you can edit/navigate in vim mode

I can be slow sometimes. Indexing a project can take a while. There are also strange bugs on mac osx with ctrl keybindings. It seems I cannot bind ctrl-j, ctrl-k and etc

IntelliJ IDEA is an incredible IDE for coding. I use it for making Java programs. The best part is that there are a lot plug-ins that you can use with IntelliJ.

As every IDE you will have to learn the basic buttons and then you will be good to go. I have no complains for that IDE. Once you install it you are good to go.

2) Indexing, integrations of various plugins for maven, github, docker, jenkins, (advanced UI integrations), etc.
Actually, IntelliJ has many more advantages so cannot cover all.

1) Heavy software taking more than 2 min (for i5-3rd gen with 8GB RAM, ubuntu).
2) Slow start compared to Eclipse and NetBeans (may be combined).

This is great IDE for web and software devvelopment. The third party libraries can be loaded and then code auto completion feature can be used to speed up the process of development to achieve maximum output. The layout is great and highly customizable.

It is very large software and require a lot of time to install. Large amount of files it is dependent on and many time it results into a dependency issue/error due to these files.

its too good if ur writing java most of the time i would say vim can take of ur needs but sothing that needs a jvm intellij is almost a must.

I liked how they listed the files on the left hand side of the page. I loved the personalization options as well. My absolute favorite parts are the debugger and the mini terminal at the bottom of the screen. The terminal is very nice because that way you can run it with the command line args right in there without going through a gui for command line args.

Honestly, I spent five minutes trying to think what I didn't like and I couldn't find anything that was a real issue.

I'll admit that Java is not my favorite programming language, I find it verbose and clunky to use, but with IntelliJ IDEA, it becomes a lot easier to write code in Java. This is mainly because of its code completion features, which are very good at guessing the rest of your syntax, even after you've only typed in a few characters.

I liked how it wasn't too hard to transition from Visual Studio to Intellij when it came to features. The IDE has a lot of features I can use to write my code and I think JetBrains did a great job thinking of us when they designed it

Very good ui and gets code suggestions by pressing alt+enter. useful for improving product delivery efficiency. Support for maven , selenium etc.

I dont like that it is priced and community version is avialbale only for limited time. Gives suggestion but indexing is slow and can be improved.

I love the syntax highlighting and the refactoring options. Their linter is also very hard to beat for writing Java.

Sometimes the program can be a little laggy. This can be expected on a computer that is really old, but my computer is very fast and it can take up a lot of processing power.

I like how you have the best IntelliSense and best integration tools at one place and you hardly have to leave the IDE to do any other application related work.

The only con is that the pricing is quite high and usually a small-scale engineer is forced to work on any other platform rather than even using the free version

I currently work at a software development company so using the IDE is a certainty and IntelliJ is the application I still use today. IntelliJ supports users quite well compared to previous applications I have used, in terms of the ability to suggest, the ability to use many different languages.

It is slow to open, especially in computers with low ram memory. Annoyed that suggest other software and that does not have a documentation that allows me to learn to use well.
