Very good IDE, Visual Studio feels like home
Vorteile
For someone who had learned programming using this tool it definitely feels like home to work in Visual Studio. Had used it to learn C# and it feels very familiar to use as a programming tool. The interface is pretty clean and its easy to develop and application using it. Definitely great to work with the autocomplete on.
Nachteile
I feel it could be more intuitive, competing products like Xcode or other text editors like Sublime, Atom, etc. offer a lot of functionality without the IDE environment.

Best IDE cum Editor for webdevelopment
Vorteile
It is the best editor to work on web development as it offers lots of feature which is very useful while doing the web-dev. It can also be used for other language like python or java as it have plugins for the support of all those language.

Will use IntellIJ for java and for rest I will use this one.

This is what you need since they deprecated Salesforce IDE. It's simple to use and familiar to most people.
Nachteile

Uses basic C# programming. Can develop just about anything as long as you can imagine a way to program it.
Nachteile
I have not yet figured out how to do graphs easily. Or put more than one graph on the same plot. Hard to program automatic login for box.com.

Visual Studio has really improved my development experience along with it's numerous plug-ins!
I've worked on numerous applications on Visual Studio and have thoroughly enjoyed it.
Vorteile
Visual Studio has helped build a lot of quality software with the .NET framework as well as with other programming languages. The plug-ins available improve the development experience to a great degree and also speed it up. The visuals and theme options provide a personalized user experience.
Nachteile
Customer support could really be improved upon. Also there have been numerous crashes particularly when running on macOS.

I do not like the fact that the community version is not as good as the professional version. While in college i really do not have the money for the professional version

Vorteile
Workspace organization was pretty decent if I can say. Other than that there are no more things that I can say I liked.
Nachteile
Comparing it to Android Studio, Visual Studio is by far less impressive and harder to get into. Didn't really like it at all.

Student use and beginner development

The debug tools were easy to use and very powerful. I especially liked the variety and ease of use of the breakpoints.
Nachteile
The compiler warnings weren't very helpful, often too vague to do any good. The unit testing was also a little difficult.

Visual Studio has all the functionalities and options needed, it's easy to use and it has a free version.
Nachteile
Can be a bit pricey for smaller companies, takes a lot of memory and sometimes it can run slow, however I still recommend it as one of the best.

All in one IDE environment
Wonderful tool. I would say a notch above Atom, which I also still like to use.
Vorteile
Love the ability to write/edit code, install packages, run shell commands, and see output all in the same window.
Nachteile
Nothing I can complain about. I used to use Atom and I still do, but I do love MSVS too because I can do additional things like launch and use the Jupyter notebook from within the IDE. Really nothing bad I can think of, based on my approx. 6 months of experience with the tool.

A very good software that somehow lacks time usability because of its high load of components.
It can be used in any kind of project.

The potential of this software is almost unlimited. It covers the use of any language or plugin and it's debug mode is great.
Nachteile
It takes TOO long to load and weights SO much. I stopped using it when I discovered other solutions that may have less potential in other ways but let me start programming as soon as I want.

My Preferred interface for programming macros
I use visual studio to program macros that automate repetitive tasks. This eliminates human error and increased consistency for my employees.
Vorteile
I am no programming expert. I like to make macros for SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor to speed up my employees workflow. The visual basic programming interface on these applications I find to be lacking. I find it much easier to code my macros in visual studio, then copy paste it into the API window in my CAD Software.
Nachteile
The default file type .swp for solidworks macros is not supported. I get around thing by programming in visual studio then copy pasting into the solidworks API Window.

Great Customization Options
My experience with Visual Studio has been positive and it's my preferred code editor.
Vorteile
I like the customization of Visual Studio. I really like to have a beautiful coding environment so I like the clean interface. I also like being able to work in the terminal directly from the softwae.
Nachteile
I do not care for the sidebar and the manner of opening files. I also don't think it's necessary to have the Welcome screen open as a separate file that I have to close every time.

Great tool for a novice developer to create small utilities to support team
Vorteile
Easy to understand for a novice programmer. Enabled myself, a tester, to create tools to support customer service team, using a programming language (C#) that was new to me.
Nachteile
For my purposes and in my experience, did not recognize any cons. I only touched a small portion of the suite however.

I was able to work code better as a beginner.
Vorteile
This product is very comfortable with writing code, especially the auto-filling feature makes it much easier and saves time.
Nachteile
Can't think much of disadvantages except the keyboard shortcuts which are not friendly at all using a typical keyboard.
