We use this app for my daughter's daycare and the greatest portion for me as a dad is to be able to get notifications throughout the day on how my daughter is doing. From knowing when she ate a snack to seeing pictures throughout the day, it helps me feel that I am still connected to her day while I'm working.

Nachteile

I do not not have any complaints with this software, as it fills the need perfectly from the user side of it.

This Software is incredibly user-friendly and has helped my team very much during the past 2 school years.

there are parts that are NOT user friendly. For example, how to make a note in the file of a student without the parent seeing it. also, the student family set up....who is going to receive the updates daily and who is on the approved pick up list. finally, invoicing...it would be nice to be able to enter a price for each student and send it instead of all the steps we have to do now.

This software helps streamline all areas of our preschool management. It is a great selling feature when touring new parents. They love the ability to pay online and the ability to stay connected to their children while they are at our school.

I can't think of anything that I don't like about Brightwheel. The Brightwheel team responds quickly if I have an issue and are always receptive to suggestions for changes or upgrades.

Brightwheel is a wonderful app to use with daily parent communication. There are several options to send and receive messages, photos, and updates throughout the day. The parents love that they can pay through the app.

Brightwheel is very efficient and very easy to maneuver. It's been a game changer at our daycare and our parents and staff love it. The company is always working hard to be innovative and there are frequent new updates and improvements which it make it so much worth our money.
The new update which allows messaging on the website is awesome!

There's very little cons to brightwheel but there are sometimes issues with the billing portion and we sometimes have parents who have issues with making payments and sometimes it's not as user friendly.

I do not like that we can not see if parents have read messages sent to them. I would love something that said read or seen next to the message.
I would like for some type of time delay when sending out messages to the families.
I would like for the pictures in the library to be a bit larger. It is difficult to see the kids in the photos.

Brightwheel makes managing student attendance in classrooms, and after school simple and safe. It also provides communication tools to send video, photos and messages directly to parents and in real time.

Like most managment tools you have to remember to log children and yourself out manually, there is no group function.

It’s a little difficult to utilize to its potential. It goes more than is obvious to teachers. Maybe a video tutorial training for each new hire.

I like being able to send the parents photos. I like how easy it makes my tasks. I am able to stay organized.

Nachteile

The billing side is not good. It takes days for them to respond. You do not know how much it will cost until you sign up.

I love that it keeps my clients and I connected and that I can communicate to everyone at the same time when we have events or policy changes. I absolutely love the photo option as well, especially for those parents who don't want their children's pictures on social media.
The biggest thing for me, however, is the amazing customer support I've experienced. Any time I have a question or suggestion, I am able to communicate with a live person who ACTUALLY listens! It's pretty rare these days, so I value that a lot!

There aren't any aspects of this app is dislike. There are a couple of things I'd like to see added to it, but per my conversation with customer support, it sounds like those things are on their way!

What won me over was the support team and Brightwheel’s overall commitment to giving our school the platform we wanted. As the Teacher/Director, there were features I found I needed. Brightwheel looked into my request and found ways to accommodate my needs even if it required new programming on their part to create it. Impressive service!

Cost. I have found after several recxomendations that the cost is top of the market... something most schools have difficult time justifying.

Vorteile

It's easy to use, our teachers can post and record activities with ease and simplicity. It's very responsive and new features are being added regularly to make the product even more useful.
Messaging between parent/ teacher is a key feature as well as being able to post videos to share the child's day and special moments with parents.

Nachteile

Cannot really think of any cons, the product has always exceeded our expectations. It would be nice to be able to post directly from the PC instead of the App at all times.

it is an easy, excellent app for parents. It is much more handy than normal paper sheets, and workers can effortlessly upload records and photos all day long. You are capable to track your child's activities, check on the food, naps, and general stuff when they are at the daycare.

I will preface by saying I have only used as a free trial and through observing demonstrations. Based on those, the software seems more than capable of helping manage a child care facility. But not steps above my existing software that would warrant the time and investment of switching (if there was any value to the change, which I don't believe they truly offer more than what I already have).

Nachteile

I have been put off by sales pitches saying they are the "ONLY" one that can do x, y and z. In reality, most child care administration software can do it.

I am automatically notified when there is a message pertaining my son.

At times there is a glitch in the system but it clears up pretty quick.

I like how it is so easy to stay organized on the app! it makes for mornings and afternoons to be so simple. In a way it's my own "preschool social media" we take pictures and provide extensive updates on each student for the parent to see whats going on. It makes it a more interactive experience fo the parents

After some updates, I did not like how the app does not require parents to be signing out, or making them provide the security pin to "safely" check the child out. When we click on some of the students faces in attendance, they would simply be check out. Though it is easier, lots of mistakes happen and then there are miscommunications and you think a child is missing, which is not fun and just frustrating.

The ease of our staff and parents to use. Able to send communications to staff and parents via email and or text messages. When we pick up our children for Afterschool, the parent is notified which helps ease their anxieties. I like having the pictures of the children for greater ease in checking them in and out of our program. I always know the exact number of children attending for our ratio.

I can’t say at this time there was nothing I liked least.

It puts everything you need in one. We rarely have to send emails anymore because we can communicate with parents directly through the app, and it comes through as a notification almost like a text. So it is a much faster way to reach the parents. And it also was much better for logging their eat and sleep, rather than doing it on paper like we used to.

There were some glitches that would remove a picture and post the lesson twice in its place. I’m not sure if it ever got resolved. We kept trying to speak with someone about it but it seemed to never be fixed. I have since moved to another location of ours, so I’m not sure if it’s still happening.

Brightwheel has been life changing for our center. It has given us the option to allow online payment, easy clock in and clock out for our parents, easy staff tracking. Just an overall great experience.

My only complaint would be that I would like the option to also run payroll rather than paying for a seperate software.

It is so easy to use and doesn't take a lot of my time to navigate through. Parents receive messages right away from me or my staff.

I wish their was a way to send out a mass message and be able to link files (.pdf, etc.) to that mass message to parents. Brightwheel customer support did give me a way to this as an alternative for right now, but requires some extra steps. It would just be nice to link my files directly into Brightwheel.

The communication between staff and parents is the real prize here! Parents get immediate, up to date information about their child including pictures. It decreases my time talking to parents each day after the day has ended - trying to remember details they ask. Instead, they already have the information and we got to do it throughout the day.

Nachteile

I wish there was a sign in for staff that did not provide full access to messages and student information. It would be a nice option.

I love how we are able to give parents all the information about their child’s day through this app. You can also write notes and select more than one child if you need to send the same note.

I really like the fact that once you know how it works it is very easy to use and follow. As as teacher, it allows my time management and organizational skills to be used to a “T” because it is so quick to snap photos and plug them in on any child’s page. I’m told for parents they really enjoy to be updated so often daily, and not only read but see with photos or videos what their child is doing every day at school.

Sometimes it was difficult to use at first because there are a lot of different options to choose from. Also, sometimes when one child’s page is up and you need to take a photo right away I wish there was an option to filter through or be able to add the rest of the class to it instead of have to copy and paste to everyone else

I like that it's simple to use and I have control over the settings. I rarely have problems, and when I do, the customer service is fantastic.
Users can easily navigate and control settings thanks to its easy-to-use interface.

Pint Invoice issue .The Payments section, unfortunately, has some problems. Because the "Print Invoice" option does not work for me, a daycare had to email me the invoice.

The activities. I teach in a toddler classroom so it’s wonderful to mark diapers, potty training options, etc.

No connections btwn families. It is not social to other families within our classroom. No main bulletin page that all can chat or comment...Like a larger classroom umbrella. Doesn’t unify the class at all. A main classroom big umbrella page would be ideal to post a pic of a flyer, newsletter, etc.

Also we cannot see if families are reading or checking the info/pics we post.
No idea who is using and who isn’t.

Posting a note can happen in like three ways. With multiple teachers in a classroom (like me in a toddler class with two teachers), and multiple teachers in a school posting notes differently, it’s confusing and inconsistent. Should be more crisp.

Lastly, when you click a child to add activity... then you go to (for example) add photos.. the child you are adding to isn’t show anywhere anymore (like a name up top to remind you that you are inside JOHNNY’s brightwheel). We are very busy and a minute might go by, then you have no clue who you were adding photos to... it’s frautrating. Constantly logging backwards to see Oh Yes I’m Inside Johnny’s Brightwheel Photo Activity.

I like that you can select multiple children when you want to write the same information when it applies to more than 1 child.

I wish the teachers can post lesson plans into the software so parents have access to it. There were many occasions where the teachers send notes to the parents and they would not receive a notification unless it was sent as a message.

Brightwheel is a great tool for Early Childhood Centers. We use it to communicate with parents throughout the school day, check in/out, track attendance/ratios, send photos of classroom activities to parents and we are starting to use the billing side of the app. Love the student information at our fingertips!
Love the ease of use and help center--get quick feedback when needed from staff. Can use for CACFP paperwork is AWESOME!

Nachteile

We need to have our standards available (Alabama). When this occurs, we will start using the lesson plan feature.
Need to be able to see that parents have viewed message/posts.....
Need to be able to put a caption on a picture
Need to be able to print signatures bigger for CACFP reimbursement documentation

There are many features to use in the premium account but also has nice options in the free version. It is a great tool to promote your business and increase parent communication. It makes the business run smoother. The tool has frequent updates.

This software is very easy to use, very easy to get the hang of. I was thrown into a new role very suddenly and had to become very familiar with Brightwheel and how we use it for our daily needs, and by the end of the week, I was very confident in knowing the ins and outs.

I would like to see a more flexible messaging option on the computer interface. Like being able to search a child's name, instead of just which room they're in and then scrolling through that room's messages. I also would like to see a sort of "instant message" feature on the computer if I were to receive a message. Have something pop up on that tab, or in the bottom of my screen.

I use brightwheel as a parent for my son's child care center, Tutor Time. This app has made such a significant impact in our lives to know and see my son is in a safe, caring and educational environment. It made it easier to go back to work with the updates and communications. I would not send him to a center that did not have an app like this.

Software does not integrate with payment system at the center, but I believe other companies may have that set up.
