I like being able to enter the kids’ activities. I like the billing aspect, but the billing and reports needs to be updated.

The lack of flexibility in the report feature and the billing feature. I’ve said for months that I need to be able to close invoices that are unpaid when a parent walks out on a bill. I still need the record for legal reasons but don’t want it front and center all day long. Also, I’d like to be able to keep track of spending and other income, so using Brightwheel for bookkeeping would be essential. I pay for this service elsewhere at the moment.

Parents love the daily communication and ease of use. Digital sign in has been great for me as a remote owner I can monitor ratios and communications.

Nachteile

Several features need serious improvements. The timecard function doesn’t calculate overtime according to a preset of rules and has no option for other common time keeping software for payroll like set up for a “6 minute rule”. We had hoped to elimate paying for our timeclock software but NO. The learning feature for observations is not set up in a way that is helpful. Before you can take a picture, you have to select a objective and give it a score. By that time the picture moment is over. We had hoped to eliminate our TSG software? NO.

The opportunity for parents to check in and out. The opportunity for teachers to post without asking me to post for them. Independence in the classrooms- teachers message parents as needed and vice-versa

Parent issues- Not every child in that household was connected to that family in the beginning. There are times when parents have to go an extra step to check children in- that is, scan, move button, and input a 4 digit code.

It’s a great way to keep in touch with families of students during the day without having to share your personal phone or email address.

It would be nice if teachers could limit notifications to their class only. Right now I get notifications related to every student in the school. I also wish there was flexibility of login for teachers who are also parents at the school.

Our daycare provider uses Brightwheel to generate weekly invoices and solicit payment for services. The service is simple and easy to navigate. It has been especially useful for auto-generating reports that can be used for FSA reimbursement and tax purposes when claiming dependent care costs on our taxes.

Nachteile

The interface is rather austere; the simplicity is beneficial and easy to navigate, but this can come at the cost of limited functionality. However, it serves our purposes as a schedule and invoice tool.

It took no time at all to show our teachers and parents how to use this app! Since the functionality is so similar to the phones we all have it was a very easy transition!

I wish we were able to upload documents like flyers for our parents to see instead of having to type it as a note or take a picture of ones we have printed off

We LOVE Brightwheel. It helps us communicate with parents on a daily basis about everything from diaper changes to injuries. It allows our teachers to share what happens throughout the day without having to share their phone numbers.

We wish the the Brightwheel calendar connected to the Google Calendar - which is where we house our school calendar(s).

As a preschool teacher, this app and its format present the utmost in terms of functionality. It gives flow to some of the more tedious daily requirements and transition periods for those in my room and has wonderful ease of use for this technologically inept adult.

At times the video length can be frustrating when you have a longer video to share. But the fact that the parents can instantly download anything sent on their child's page overshadows that drawback. Tends to drain my battery if left open on my mobile phone (when I don't log out).

I worked at a preschool that uses this software and it is great! It is really easy to input meals, potties, naps, incidents, pictures, etc. it’s also great now that my girls go to the preschool! I love being involved in their day even though I’m working.

Brightwheel is well liked by me, the provider, and all my daycare parents. The parents love the ease of making tuition payments and I love having all my past and current payments at a fingertip. The daycare parents love receiving updates, pictures, and videos throughout the day. For a couple decades I filled out daily log sheets per child. This was very time consuming. Brightwheel allows me to do more...in way less time. Brightwheel as a whole is very easy to use and they seem to listen to customers and are always updating and improving things when needed. The few times I’ve had to speak with someone, they were pleasant and solved the issue quickly.

Nachteile

I really, REALLY wish it did not take so long to have the tuition payments deposited. This is actually a pretty major issue, I know it is for many. I hope they are able to solve this issue, and in the near future.

I made myself laugh while filling out the personal info to do this review. My title: Dad...Industry: farming. I'm raising and family and quire frankly I think a farm is cleaner and quieter than my house. The last of the bunch is our 5 yer old daughter. Sorry, not sorry to the other kids but she is the best of them. Stunningly beautiful and smart as a whip. I am the ultimate Daddy's Girl daddy. The software is easy to use, but to know when she checked-in and checked-out is priceless. If my wife gets her, I see the notification, when she gets checked-in by staff on the half-day Wednesday, I get notified.
When the fees are due, I open the app and pay right there! Where was this with the other's from the litter?

The capability to give parents realtime access to their children. I'm an in-home day care professional and I love the app from the moment I started well into my second year of use. My parents love the idea they can still be engaged with their children even while away at work or busy days they can review at night. The ability to communicate via the messages is AWESOME, parents can shoot me a quick late drop off/early pick up and they can respond to quick message without missing a beat at work. The creator of BrightWheel has made my professional life of a day care provider so much easier to manage with my program.

The least favorite is I need premium access to do video....however there are only a few times when I need video. Otherwise I love everything else and I'm upgrading soon anyway.

I liked most that parents received notifications as soon as something was posted to their child’s daily sheet and the ease of adding meal items into the daily selection for future use! I also liked that there are early learning guidelines for our state on observations, that’s one of the most awesome things I’ve seen in an application like this!

I least liked that there was no way for pictures to be posted onto an observation and that there wasn’t a training before using it for employees that it was new to.

Let’s face it, when we drop our kids off at daycare, we worry about what their day is like when they’re so little. Brightwheel keeps me in the loop ALL DAY LONG about what my child is doing, how much she’s eaten, when she went to the bathroom last, and so much more! I love knowing what’s going on in her life when I’m unable to be there while at work. Very user friendly and there’s a free version!

I didn’t like how many notifications it sends throughout the day when you enable them. I don’t need to know the second my child goes potty, but I do like to know that at the end of the day in a report.

Enjoy the sign in part of the app and that it tells us how many students are present and absent. The message center is also helpful when sending a message out to parents-great way to communicate.

It’s hard to edit mistakes on posts sent out to parents. Teachers need to go to each child’s account to un-do the mistakes, which is very time consuming.

As a teacher using the app, it would be helpful if we can somehow edit the mistakes once and that will change in all the posts and messages.

When posting pictures and adding a caption, the caption repeats it self in all the pictures uploaded- not necessary.

Would be nice if pictures are together in an album where parents click on to see pictures sent out (tap on album and scroll left) vs parents keep scrolling up/down- overwhelming.

There needs to be a Staff Room - where admin and staff can use all the same feautres just the same way as teachers do with parents. Admin and staff need to be able to communicate with eachother.
Every admin and staff need to be able to check in and check out.
Also copy and paste in messages is needed. We waste a lot of time having to type the same messages multiple times.

As a small center in a fast paced and growing community, we love Brightwheel and all it has provided for our program! We love the attendence and ratio help when seeing how many children and teachers are in each classroom! The parents love the communication and sense that they are still a part of their child's day while they are away!

The only thing we would change is maybe making the tuition and administrative side a little easier to use. We own a small center that only has 150 littles enrolled and sometimes Brighthweel likes to think on the large scale. Other than that we love everything about it!

I love how we can take little videos and share, wish they could be a little longer. We share about 10 pictures every day and always check all the children in all the pictures. This because we want to share what happened in the classroom with all of us. It’s a great way for parents to check in, but most of all to help parents talk about their day with their child. For their child to easier share, when they see the pictures. We also write a “daily note” about or day.

IT is great way for me as the director to know how many kids I have in each room and keep up with ratios. We like having the student's info at our fingertips rather than having to get the file/notebook and look it up when we need to know something quickly. It is also nice to be able to call from the child's profile page. I would say in a word - it makes our job more convenient!

I would like to be able to customize some of the areas to what is required by our state. For instance, we have different immunization requirements than are on brightwheel. Communicating with staff is also an area I would like to see improved - me with them and they with each other.

Parents can see their children in real time. The parent downloads the software and they get a notification whenever their child's picture is posted. Both parties need to have the app downloaded to be successful.

Sometimes there can be a lag when I upload pictures of multiple kids to different accounts. It does run smoothly when it wants to!
