This software and app are so quick and easy to use. We can enter meals, toileting, naps and activities quickly. Check kids in and out and get important details to and from parents quickly

Super easy for the teachers to use in the classroom. I like the set up on the teacher end. The billing system is pretty easy to use (1,000x easier than Quickbooks) especially because parents can see their account at any time. The parents really love the program and it has added a new level of quality to our program! Each update makes it better! I look forward to the updates!

-Sometimes I will message customer services is not very helpful. (Lots of apologies) For example: My end will not let me delete staff members. They offer to do it for me because it should work but the point is it doesn't but there is nothing they can do. Another example, when the update came for "Room Device Mode" I could not get this to work on our android devices, which i understand IOS update generally come first so I waited. Then I asked and I went through a few day long conversation about my device, systems, etc to only be told that is was not available for android. They all the sudden realized that the update was only for IOS?
There are a few quirks that I hope get worked out through updates.
I wish I could add notes to parents, calendar, messages, etc through the website. Typing these messages on my phone is a little annoying especailly if they are long.
I would LOVE a way to message staff as a group or individuals through BW. We only use it for clocking in/out but I think there is so much more you could do with the staff end. Also if they could see their time cards would be super helpful! Maybe a request for a correct on the time sheets?

This is one of the best, if not the very best, solutions to make my life easier managing my school. We started using this app just in our after school program and soon adopted the check-in/out system for our entire attendance tracking solution. We are able to run reports to see who, when, and where someone was checked in for any given day in our school year. All of my suggestions have been heard and considered and almost all (if not all) have eventually been added. I love how well they receive feedback and how they want to serve institutions of all sizes. Having been a long time user since their infancy, I have had the opportunity to talk to many people with the company and they are all wonderful. I wish more companies were like them.

I feel like the free version is quite limited. It used to have many more features and I sang its praises to everyone. Now I have to start the conversation by discussing the financial part of the system, which limits some potential users. I wish it integrated with student information systems so that I didn't have to export and prepare csv to upload to create students. It would be much simpler to have an automated sync each night to create or remove students based on our current student system, Renweb. I'm beginning to realize that part of this is due to their growing attempt to take over the educational information realm, but they are not there yet.

This is a lengthy review because there is so much to say. My first experience with Brightwheel is from my daughters first daycare. We were told to download the app and create an account and the teachers gave us information to make sure we were in the right class. Everyday I got numerous updates that included when I checked her in, her meals, play time, circle time, nap time, when they changed her diaper, and pictures of her throughout the day. I was always informed with what was happening. Teachers can send private messages to me if she needed more diapers to be brought in or if she did not eat her lunch. Since this was my first experience with daycare and I was already nervous to leave her this really helped me feel amazing about my decision. This is a wonderful tool to use to keep parents up to date throughout the day.

Nachteile

Honestly, I do not see any cons about this product. Since it is a web app and mobile app there were times when the system crashed and we could not log in to check in or get updates, but that is common with technology and is bound to happen.

We've been using Brightwheel for our 5 years now at several daycares. It helps us keep track of our son, including check-in/out and daily activities. It lists activity in chronological order with newest first and it helps us make sure the daycare is taking care of the children. I like that it can include photos and videos uploaded by the teachers.

Nachteile

Sometimes I wish I could send photos and videos to the teachers as well! I'd also like to be able to message some teachers directly instead of having it shared with the administration.

Vorteile

The features that are most useful is the communication with parents. If daycare is canceled, all the parents can be alerted on their phone. Most parents have notifications turned on so they even get a popup that there is a new message. Additionally each parent has their own log in code, so you get alerted when a child is checked in or out, and by who.

Nachteile

From the parent side of things, there is not much to dislike.

The one feature I do not like about brightwheel is having to pay a convenience fee to pay for tuition. It makes it more difficult to pay electronically.

I like Brightwheel software because it enables me to connect with families in real-time. I can let families know ahead of time about what is happening with their child at school, and ask them questions without having to make disruptive phone calls.

The functionality of various features on the apps could be better. I experience some frustration when demobstrating how to use the app to new users who have an operating system different from my own device. Features like student check-in/out are unpredictable and I receive constant complaints from parents every day when they try to check their child in or out and the app appears to require something different each day.

We started off just needing an online database for our students. In a few months, this app became an indispensable tool at our school-- for both parents and staff. There are too many wonderful things about this app to list here in a few short sentences, but the highlights are: photo and status updates for parents, easy invoicing system, parent and teacher sign-in / sign-out, and so much more. The support team is also excellent, knowledgeable, accessible, friendly-- and timely in their response.

Nachteile

It seems the app until recently was in a testing or Beta phase, and as it moved into full production certain aspects of the app which were previously free and unlimited have suddenly and without warning been associated with a fee or have sudden limitations. That said, it's still absolutely worth it.

Brightwheel is a simple, yet amazing app for parents. You are able to monitor your child's activities, food, diapers, naps, etc. while they are at daycare. It is so much more convenient than a paper report and staff members can easily add information and photos all day long.

There really are not many cons with this app. I will say that it would be nice if it would integrate more with other calendar apps.

I have used this app for a year and a half now on a daycare reception usually 20 kids at any time which i really like it. i can't imagine running my business without it now! Invoices are easy to use! Parents feel connected, and it doesn't take much effort to urge things into the app so it doesn't take time away from kids. it is easy to use for myself, my staff, and each one families. many thanks Brightwheel for creating this handy gizmo to help my parents feel connected to their children while they were at work, it made a huge difference!

i'm unable to seek out the observations easily for review afterward for report as a category or objective/goal.I wish you'll post pdf files to the oldsters versus just image files. (My newsletters and forms always need to be converted to pdf then to image file.

It's very easy to track every check in and check out entry of my little one in her school. I can receive important messages from the school so that I never miss anything happening at the school. And I can send messages to her teacher and the school administration regarding absence , sickness and anything regarding my child. Her teacher can send photos and videos of the school events through brightwheel. And also parents can share pictures and videos among teachers and other children in the class. And both parents have access and can track the child's activities.

I hope it has a little bit more capacity when sharing videos. The video have to be less than around 2 minutes to share now.

I am a parent user of this software and I absolutely love it. This software allows me to easily stay in contact with my children's school and get updates on what they have eaten, when they have used the bathroom, napped and receive pictures and videos. I like that I can message school from my phone and receive a message back without having to call. Because it has ios applications i get the updates on my iWatch and phone.

I don't like that there can sometimes be a delay in the software or some glitches but that is to be expected with anything from time to time.

We love the AutoPay feature and the ability for our parents to get their invoices 24/7.

There isn’t a way to record credit, and when a payment fails without attempting to go through it doesn’t send an email to the parents or us. Also, when a payment fails it doesn’t give us an opportunity to recharge. Many parents will ask us to retry and we can’t without creating a new invoice. Also, on the Plan section, it doesn’t allow you to make changes to the days the invoice gets charged, or a new end date, etc. This means we are constantly canceling the plan and creating a new one.

1) It has aloud our staff members to connect with families more on a daily/weekly basis.
2) Staff are able to post pictures without using their phone storage.
3) Parents can sign-in & sign-out easier. Easier to add extra pick-up people.
4) Easier to obtain tuition payments from families.
5) Easier to have a visual of the school in one location (I can switch rooms and see who is there and the staff in the room.
6) Bi-monthly payroll is much easier with the time sheets.

Nachteile

1) There is no way to message staff members all at once or for them to receive a message as well. (example, I post the newsletter for parents and the staff would have to open a student file to view it or I mass message the parents but the staff do not receive the mass message as well.
2) I wish you could post pdf files to the parents versus just image files. (My newsletters and forms always have to be converted to pdf and then to image file.
3) Red sign-in kiosk screen is not good for viewing out in the sunlight. (blue & white would be better)
4) I am unable to find the observations easily for review later on for report as a class or objective/goal.
5) iPhone users seem to have trouble with the app more (receiving messages & they are not able to click on links that I may send either through messaging or under the notes).

I love the ability to post multiple pictures at the same time. All the options are easy to find and labeled really well (ie. nap, food, potty, etc.).

Nachteile

First, I really don't like how difficult it is to edit a note, photo, or custom message if we spot an error after sending it. We have used another platform before that you could easily click on which students had the note that was sent out and you could edit it one time instead of having to go through each child. For example, to edit a "note" that was sent we would have to edit it 19 times to fix it. That's a lot! If you could update this I would really, REALLY love Brightwheel.

Secondly, can we please have a "Sent" message page separate from just the one page that groups the sent and received all in one. I am missing incoming messages because they're getting lost in a bunch of other messages. And one more thing about messages. This would help out SO much! Can there be an option to mark a message as "Unread"? Sometimes my morning assistant will check a message but forget to tell me and unfortunately I won't see the notification that a message came in. But if it could be known that if anyone reads a message before the lead teacher they can easily indicate it as Unread and then no one will miss it.

It is easy to use. Training with staff is easy. Parents enjoy the ease of use as well. From an administrative standpoint, entering new children and staff is a quick process. Entering all daily information can be done in the click of a button.

When adding a child for a family that already has children at our center, the app does not allow me to only enter first name and email address to add this child's parent. I have to go on a computer to do this. We have several teachers at our center that also have their own children here. There is no way for our teachers to receive notifications both as teachers and parents.

The most impactful feature is the parent check in/out, it is extremely helpful during busy morning drop offs and in the afternoons for pickups. I just discovered the new menu feature… game changer. So much better than creating a spreadsheet from scratch!

The billing feature has some hiccups, but only with the limitations, but then again maybe I’m just not as knowledgeable as I should be on using those features. I really can’t say much about cons! I love the app!!

Brightwheel application is a very popular and easy to use app.The Brightwheel mobile app is very popular among Childcare schools and Parents. This is very good Child Care management application with many different features. Brightwheel has features like manage your classroom, Administer the respective child care schools related activities and easily engage with parents. Brightwheel helps the teachers to capture the daily attendance, upload photos for each child, add activities of each child and send messages to complete group or individual person at once. Brightwheel also provide options for Bill Pay for the parents to pay child fees, Parents can view the invoices and keep track on previous invoices.

Nachteile

Brightwheel has lot of useful features and very less cons or demerits. Brightwheel mobile app though is very popular but not used much for Bill payments. The earlier version of Brightwheel app was comparatively slower when you upload many photos at once. The app is more useful for Child care schools and less for the parents. There is less interactivity from parents to school and no options for parents to contact other parents.

This software helps make the connection between home and the preschool setting stronger. It allows teachers and parents to communicate important information to each other. It allows for photos to be shared with the families, so that they can see the learning taking place in the classroom. It allows for teachers to keep track of the development that each child is going through, in a very structured, easy to understand format. I can't say enough good things about this software!

Nachteile

The software used to never have the video component, but they introduced that component within the last year, and it has really been a nice addition. It seems that the company really values the feedback of it's clients, and then implements the ideas. There is nothing I like the "least" about this software.

I love the fact that the one program takes care of communications with faculty and parents, billing and payments, and student information. All of it quickly accessible by computer or cell phone. Customer service is attentive and thorough.

Nachteile

There are some areas where improvement is necessary. Sometimes when you export information, you may need to tweaking the organization of the information to look the way you want it. The thing is, they invite you to share what you believe needs to improve. In the short 7 months of using this software, and they have made significant updates many of these aspects.

It's relatively easy to upload pictures and videos (and other information) to let parents know what is happening at school. I have also used it as a parent for my kids' daycare and I felt like I was missing out when they began elementary school (where it wasn't used).

With the increase in cost, my children's daycare had to start charging parents just to continue to use it. With this additional cost, I would like them to find a new tool. Also, it's frustrating how it does not show the messages my wife sends to teachers (I only see the reply from the teacher).

I love how easy Brightwheel makes tracking my baby while they are at daycare. I see every diaper change, nap time, and bottle. It also allows me to communicate with his daycare provider through messenger and allows me to pay online each week. The app has made our entire daycare experience better!

I don't have any cons about this program. As long as the providers use it like they should and upload the information, then the app is great as a parent!

The app works really well for our large preschool of approximately 150 students. We experience very little lag when entering information or posting pictures/videos. It's easy for our teachers to use (even those that are "technology challenged". Our parents say it's easy to use and they love that they're able to download the pictures from the app to their personal devices. The customer service is excellent as we always get a quick and professional response and we've seen improvements made to the application based off of our concerns.

Nachteile

We wish that brightwheel had an assessment/formal evaluation portion so that we're able to have all inclusive software. It also would be really helpful if administrators on the account had more control over certain features like resetting employee information, and disabling messaging.

I love that I get to give a great idea of how their child's day went. When a drop off is hard, we can share a picture 5 minutes later to ease the parent's mind. We share the learning that happens, as well as other important things that parents want to know (i.e. meal items and potty outcomes). It allows me to easily track check-in/out times, and also makes billing an automatic feature for parents.

Nachteile

It can be cumbersome to use at times, especially using it for billing and other back-end things. The user experience is not as easy as I'd like, but it's generally easy to log all the activities for the kids during the day.

The ability to upload photos with descriptions as well as categorize them into subjects/learning domains. It was exciting for parents to see photos in real time.
It was also SUPER helpful that accident reports could be added in real time. Altogether the BEST feature was not having to write up separate accident reports, messages or newsletters to different parents by email or phone calls. Guardians provide their email to administration so that photos, messages, accident reports and newsletters go to all responsible parties easily. Then everyone is on the same page.

Nachteile

It was challenging to go back into newsletter/messages to edit.
Parents complained they couldn’t send messages freely without choosing one of the pre-made options of the app. For instance, a parent could send a message to say that their child woke up once during the night and had trouble falling asleep as a heads up to the teacher that the child may be tired or cranky. Instead they had to choose an option such as the child would be absent that day. Additionally there was a very limited number of characters for parents to use in messages.
Was not able to upload video successfully after many attempts.
