I like that I can communicate with the parents and they can see how their children are doing throughout the day. As a daycare provider, I also like the billing feature and the fact that my parents have receipts and tax info at their fingertips.

It can be a little difficult to navigate at first. Adding photographs can be difficult as well. The video upload is only for 30 seconds it should at least be a minute. The one thing that I really dislike is not being able to talk to someone on the phone. When you need help, you want it right away. With brightwheel you have to message them for help and it can become quite upsetting as your dialogue is not in real time. You have to wait hours and sometimes days for help.

We can do everything with this app. It's great! Parents can sign their child in/out, which is perfect for state regulations. Parents can see what their child is up to throughout the day by way of 30 second videos, pictures, messages, notes, meals served and quantity of food each child ate, incident reports, medications administered and bathroom breaks. There is also a custom icon, and if you are a staff member of a facility with multiple rooms, you can move the children from one room to another, so parents and staff know where their child is at at all times. There is a calendar, observation section and you can even do billing! I couldn't imagine NOT using Brightwheel. It is so quick, easy and comprehensive. Each child is separate and each profile affords space for all pertinent information, including doctor/dentist information, address, parent contact, emergency contacts, allergies, medications, and DOB. It is very inexpensive an parents are able to know what their child did, rather than trying to ask the busy staff or ask their child. Multiple members can be added to a profile and all receive a 4-digit code for signing their child in/out of care. I would recommend it a million times over! Awesome Ap!

The Brightwheel app enables our employees to easily communicate with parents anytime of day or night and keeps them from giving out their personal phone numbers. The system is very user friendly and has easy to follow instructions and prompts.

The reporting from a financial side is not very clear if you are coming from another system with a lot of information in reports. Inputting immunizations could be a little quicker like putting a date and selecting the immunizations that were given on the date would be great.

The idea is great. Parents love seeing pictures and getting updates in a feed format. Great for messaging parents in a selected classroom.

Nachteile

There's absolutely no way to prep for the next school without the rooms going live and parent invites being sent. If a family sends a message, the admin must know off the top of their head which classroom the student is because the app won't take you directly to the message when you click on the notification. You have to use notes or allergies to mark food preferences such a vegetarian or vegan. When working on a desktop, there's are at least 3 extra clicks just to view a student's profile. Click on a student's name. Click Apply. Click again on the student's name. A lot of wasted time due to poor design. The Reports functionality leaves a lot to be desired. Toggling In or out when clearly a parent is trying to log their child out is superfluous.

Too Complicated and the Parent Communication tool was antiquated and did not allow my staff to post information in real time.

I use this for communication with my children’s daycare. We can’t easily send messages to each other about the kids. I love the updates throughout the day and the ability to look in on my kids while I’m at work. We can also share updates with friends and family.

I am not able to share my own pictures with the staff, only they can post pictures.

I wouldn't say there are any 'cons' with the software - just areas of improvement. As an administrator I'd love to be able to communicate with teachers through Brighwheel. We currently use email but it would be awesome to communicate as a staff via Brightwheel. :) Also, the calendar tool is great but it is difficult to update - just making it easier to put in closure dates all at once. I'd also love a staff scheduling tool. We use a different app for scheduling - all our communication in one place would be awesome!

Some of the parents have a hard time signing their child in or out. The app looks different on different phones and some of the parents state that they can't see their code making it difficult for attendance.

This app is great! I can keep up with my kid while she's at school and get photos and videos of her in class, and know her schedule like when she takes a nap.. Other great features include being able to check my kid in and out of class by scanning a QR code, messaging with her teachers, and setting up automatic payments with the school. Great app.

This isn't really a con, but a fact of reality. The app is really only as useful as the person using it on the other side. If my kid's teacher didn't take pictures, note when she went to sleep or woke up, or didn't respond to messages, it wouldn't really be of any use.

Our daycare provider uses this software and as a working Mom it is very nice to have the technology available to stay in touch throughout the day. It is fairly simple to use and when I did have a problem the support team returned my email quickly.

It is sometimes quite slow. There is a long delay when I check the kids in our their Dad picks them up. I don't often get notifications for 15 - 20 minutes later. This can cause unnecessary stress when worried about whether they got picked up on time or if they need assistance. I will also not utilize the payment features because it requires tiny deposits into my personal bank account just to set up a payment method. Seems like outdated technology and makes me nervous. Some other small issues I believe are due to the provider not utilizing the technology to it's full potential which is not a software issue, but may be something for Brightwheel to consider when evaluating the training offered to facilities.

Our center has been using Brightwheel for over a year now and we absolutely love it! I love the connection with parents through this software. Parents can stay up on how their child's day is going. I also like having the finances linked through the app. It is so convenient for parents. As an administrator it has become very user friendly and helps me to keep up on each class and ratios from my phone.

Nachteile

I do not like that any time I want a special report I have to submit it to be emailed. I would love to have access to more of the information as an administrator. This also goes with the financing I would like a little more control over when I send invoices dates on invoices etc. I also don't like how everything is alphabetized by first or last name. In the childcare industry birthdays are a great option to organize rooms as children move to the next room by their birthday and that is not a feature available on the app at this time.

It is user friendly and never fails us- when there is an issue, it is usually an internet issue- not a Brightwheel issue. Customer assistance is prompt, knowledgeable and friendly.

Tracking children's immunizations is not as fluid as it could be. Too much data entry. It would be better if parents could do the data entry and admin could check against paper records for accuracy.

My families love this app, it makes communication easy. I feel like the increase in communication through this app during the day has helped me build deeper relationships with my families, help foster more positivity and trust, and help me help them with parenting topics, concerns and encouragement. The feature I love the most is autopay, all of my families use the payment feature. I never have to worry about chasing checks or manually adding payments for tax season.

Nachteile

I have had many issues sharing multiple photos at one time. I kind of gave up using this app as my primary way to share photos and set up a private group on social media for my families instead. I did enjoy how the app would keep an archive of the photos, but it was too much of a hassle for me to get them to upload, even after doing lots of troubleshooting. I don't use this app for this primary purpose, though and still feel the value is absolutely there with all the other features.

The program is easy to use and easy for our parents to use. They continue to add more features and functionality to make it more user friendly. The cost for premium is comparable to competitors and I feel that this is a better product.

As a premium member I can't log in from my phone and pick the location I want to see. I have to do that through the laptop. Therefore I can only be logged into one school at a time on my phone and I have to remember individual emails and passwords, as the same email can not be used on one account. Communication in regards to services is not flawless, not sure if it was how quickly they grew or not. Hard to get someone to email you back when you need assistance.

Ever since we started using Bright Wheel in our school, parents have been communicating more and faster! The ease of billing is definitely worth the price and saves time with tracking down payments and late fees.

The only cons I have found using Bright Wheel is in the Subsides category trying to add and change child payments mid month as some agencies tend to do. They are working on it and plan on coming out with an update soon!

I was a parent and a teacher with the use of brightwheel at my last center. As a parent I absolutely being able to check on my child without having to call. We all know very well that phones are pretty much Everything and being able to pick mine up and see pictures, notes and activities that my child/children we doing was amazing!

I personally feel that if we were going to have to pay for the program to just include it within our price for childcare. My center we had to enroll which I didn’t like as well because I worked there. Also it was a separate payment to make instead of just one payment.
As far as the app itself and the use of the app , I had no problem. Of course I am very tech savvy

I've really enjoyed using Brightwheel as a parent, which was implemented at our daycare after Covid began. It's easy to check in/check out my kids completely touchless. I love that the teachers can share photos, videos, and notes as well. Announcements, weather delays, etc. have all been helpful to receive in Brightwheel as well.

The payment function has been a little less streamlined than I had hoped. Since both my husband and I have Brightwheel logins, only one of us has been able to make payments which has been frustrating. My husband can make payments and see invoices/balances/tax reports, but I am unable to on the app. I have better luck logging in on my computer/browser, but would like to have that functionality on the app too.

I enjoyed using this app. It did not require a Facebook account like a Facebook messenger and it felt more secure than just a plain text from a random teacher or aide.

No cons. Loved it! There is really nothing I could say negative about the application. It did exactly what the teacher needed it to do for us.

Our families like receiving the real-time updates through the Brightwheel app, especially photos and videos. Streamlined messaging, and the calendar features are beneficial tools for our school. We are pleased to have lesson planning and observation features included in this software, as well as reporting functions. In the coming year, we plan to implement use of the check-in kiosk for our families and appreciate Brightwheel having this feature as well.

Some functionality is lacking which could save a significant amount of time if implemented. We would like the option to upload weekly menus for meals/snacks in advance, and be able to 'copy' weekly menus to following weeks. Another time saver would be pre-programmed notes for a child's daily feed, such as "diapers needed" or "please bring a change of clothing". Also, the ability to 'copy' basic information in a child's profile to a sibling's profile rather than entering the data a second time would be helpful.
