This app is very comprehensive, and allows a lot of opportunities to share information with families in a way that is organized and makes sense. It is easy to navigate and is constantly updating with new features that make it easier to use and more intuitive to the needs of our center and our families.

Nachteile

The learning platform is still in development, and I would like to see the observation feature allow for showing growth in each category rather than just observing the behavior.

It is easy to use, my parents love that I can communicate with them through the app daily. I keep logs of attendance, naps, diapers, food and snacks and can also log medication given, accidents or any other things I need to log. It is easy to talk to parents through the app. I also use if for billing and tracking my hours worked. It's my one stop shop for all the things I need to run my childcare home.

Nachteile

I wish that you could access billing on the mobile app. It would make things easier. Also, parents should be able to set their own check in code, in the beginning they can never remember and I have to go into the desktop version to find it, that part is a hassle. I do wish the credit card fees were cheaper.

I love that Brightwheel is a one stop app that allows me as a Director to run the billing, communication and attendance all in one place. It is clear and easy for parents to use and they love it!! I also love that they are constantly improving their service clearly incorporating our feedback.

Brightwheel is a really wonderful app for schools and makes it easy for administration to track lots of info about all of the students. We use it not only for communication but for documentation as well, for example immunizations, and it's wonderful to have it all in one place for teachers and parents to access.

Nachteile

We're constantly having issues with small bugs in the software. Pictures and videos won't always load despite file size, messages won't get sent, messages can't be opened, etc. It doesn't always seem like there's great maintenance going on and when you need to get in contact with parents quickly it's very frustrating. There also isn't really an option to go through a child's activities except for constantly scrolling through days and days of records, which doesn't even always work.

I like the milestone tracking and the daily reports the most. We add a whole wide range of things in both of these so parents of their children can be rest assured. It is incredibly easy to use and we love it and wouldn’t know where we would be with out it.

Brown oils be nice if they could add a live video streaming tab in the app so parents can do everything all in one app.

The billing is abhorrent. It is cumbersome and not logical at all. I have errors all the time because you change a price in one section, but it doesn't change it in all the sections. It is akin to handwriting a bill each month for each child. There is no automation.

I dislike that you cannot transfer a student without checking them out and then back in. I wish that the notification sent to parents was a "transfer" rather than out/in. It would save concern and confusion.
Another issue is when a staff member works at multiple locations, they are unable to clock themselves in or out with the timeclock.

I love Brightwheel! It is extremely user friendly, parents love it, and so do we!! Whenever we have had any issues, the customer support is phenomenal and there are often updates made that reflect the requests made.

There are a couple things that would make using Brightwheel a bit smoother. I wish you could link siblings so that the information is automatically transferred from one child to another. There are also a few small billing features that could use more assistance but overall it is great.

Brightwheel makes our lives so much easier in many ways at our preschool, but the main things are probably the way we can communicate with our parent population and invoicing. We can talk to parents through mass classroom messaging as well as individual messaging. Brightwheel allows us to send photos throughout the day which is what parents love most. A few messages and photos throughout the day help parents know what questions to ask their kiddos about their day which improves family communication. The invoicing feature is fantastic as well since many of our parents prefer electronic invoicing and it keeps all of our information in one place. Student records, invoices, attendance etc. everything can be done on Brightwheel!

Nachteile

The one thing I do wish Brightwheel had was an internal chat function for our teachers to be able to communicate within Brigthwheel throughout the day as well since we are constantly using it for parents. It would be wonderful to chat with each other through the platform.

The program is extremely easy to learn to use. My staff and parents are able to download the app and begin communicating with one another instantly. With this program, parents feel as if they are with their child each day, which is invaluable for preschool families. Parents and teachers can communicate in real-time without disrupting their day. This program is the BEST means of communication and most convenient tool for educator documentation I have seen in my 15 years as an Educator and Administrator.

Nachteile

I would love to see more options with billing and attendance reports. There are still some reports that help with auditing accounts that are not yet part of this program. I would love to be able to quickly pull attendance records for a whole classroom for a week and compare with billing. Unfortunately I do have to pull multiple reports or scan through attendance feeds to do so currently, which does take up a lot of unnecessary time. Brightwheel has; however, been changing and updating constantly to meet our administrative needs!

I use brightwheel as a Mom and as a user for the agency I work for. As a mom, I love the fact that we have check-ins and check-out and I am notified when dad drops or picks up our child. One of my main fears is to hear about children left in the car and brightwheel is an amazing safeguard for parents to know that the children were dropped off. It also adds security because you can authorize who can pick up your kiddo. From an admin standpoint, it allows parents to pay from the app, communicate with teachers, etc.

Nachteile

Parents cannot send attachments or anything back to the teachers. I think we we were able to, the communication would be more effective. The app is simple which is great, but a little bit more functionality and options would make this app perfect.

When using Brightwheel I can see exactly what my daughter is doing all day from snacks, activities, naps, etc. I also love the way her teachers send pictures to me throughout the day. X

What I like most about Brightwheel is that when I first saw the idea for this app on Sharktank, it didn't sound like such a good idea, but now it seems every parent with a kid in daycare or preschool has their eyes fixed on their mobile phones using this app to check up on their little ones at daycare. It's a very clever app, it connects parents with their child's teachers through sharing of photos and progress of your child during the day while they are at school and you are at the office.

While the Brightwheel app has some stunning features, such as being able to track your young ones' nap time, food, potty and activities for example, the app also has a built-in video and picture capability feature , which in my opinion, could get hacked in to and it's never a good idea to have video of young children flying around over the internet, because you never know who is looking at your child. The app could serve as a way for a criminal-minded person to follow you home using the app, knowing exactly what your children looks like, what school they go to etc and using that information to bring harm to you or to your children. That is what I like least about the Brightwheel app.

I got this app to provide me with communication from my daughter's preschool during the day to ease my mind that she was fine, and the app executes that very well. You get constant posts from teachers updating you on everything going on, including pictures and videos. They also are very customer friendly - any time I have had a problem and reached out, the response has been quick and very helpful.

Nachteile

I only have some very small cons for the app. One, it would be nice to be able to send pictures or videos to the teachers (currently, they can send them to you but you can't send them back). Two, the payment interface and functionality can be a bit clunky - I've never actually had any problem with payment, but it makes me a bit nervous every time. Mostly, this app is not the most technologically advanced. But for my purposes, it works fine and I get what I need out of it.

As a parent working with this system to check in his kiddo every day for daycare, I have found this program to be very well structured and easy to use. I can easily and securely check my son in and out of care, communicate effectively with daycare leaders, and receive updates and pictures from my son's day.

I haven't seen any issues with the program at all so far. Sometimes the check-in process is a bit lengthy, but I think that's more based on COVID and how my daycare set it up.

Everything. I love everything about Brightwheel. From the bill pay to the daily feeds for the children. My parents love it too. It makes communication and payments with my families seamless. I really like that you can print yearly reports of your deposits, meals, and milestone tracking. This program helps me keep everything logged for my state license and Paths to Quality, the quality rating program I participate in.

Nachteile

The deposit fee. I already pay a monthly fee for the program which is relatively cheap considering what you get. However, the deposit fee per transaction gets pricey. It would be great if you could be like a flat rate. Maybe add it to the monthly cost instead of charging it with every transaction.

My sons pre-school used this software, replacing daily PDF emails with updates. There really is nothing I liked about it. It was incredibly basic and limited. Even the billing feature offered very little options. Seemed like a useless tool from the user perspective.

The daycare my son goes to utilizes this app. It is great that I can see everything he does on a daily basis and still lets me feel like I am involved with his day even though I am working. Our daycare does a great job of uploading pictures of him and noting when medications have been given. It also helps me plan my evenings because I know the last time he had a diaper change and/or a bottle.

I wish I could be more selective about the notifications I get sent. I like seeing he has been checked in and out but the rest of the logged activities I wish I could subscribe to only a select few.

I really don't like the photos feature. We should be able to comment on the photos. Make it easier to write back and forth to the teachers about the picture they posted if you may have any questions. Instead of having to go into the messages section. Or who the messages go to... like what if i wanted to reach out to a specific teacher and not the entire class and admin.

I enjoy the service it provides. Connecting with parents, streamlining communication, the posting of photos, etc all help us maintain transparency with parents. The most recent messaging update has been a dramatic and valuable improvement.

It is not necessarily as intuitive as it should be. I think there are certain design elements that could help make it more user-friendly. The messaging system is great but could use some improvements in terms of searchability and archivability as well as overall efficiency. I would love to see a "search" button where you could message a parent not only from the "message" option but also directly from the child's profile as well as just "search" a child's name rather than have to scroll through the list to look at it.

Although Brightwheel is newer, they have new features coming out every couple of months which continues to enhance how great of a program it is. Everything from uploading videos to messaging parents, everything is so easy to use and has made the classroom experience so much better. It has completely changed the way we run out school and the parents absolutely love it.

We are still waiting on a feature that will allow us to easily input our weekly menu so that the parents can view what the kids are eating.

I love that brightwheel provides an "all in one" way to communicate to families and document daily activities. It's easy to use and our parents love it. What I like most about it is it has a two way messaging system so parents can send messages and staff can get right back to them. It completely eliminates the need for parents to have to try to get through by phone or email, they have direct access to their child's teacher.

One of the things I dislike about brightwheel is that the billing portion keeps changing. Our management staff will get used to how to do invoices and check reports and then once again the format will change. It definitely throws us off so it'd be nice for it to be figured out and kept that way.

Would love to be able to message the teachers only via brightwheel since we are all logged in and use it.

It’ll be nice to go directly to the message when the notification comes up instead of have to go back to the individual class to retrieve the message. We are a small school with only 4 rooms so it’s easy to know which classroom to go to however, my last school had 18 classroom and if I had to search through all of those to match the room with the kid it would drive me bonkers with the amount of messages we receive daily.

There needs to be a way to link people who are emergency contacts and approved pick ups so the list isn’t so long. And what’s the point of listing people as family members.

Maybe a easier way to link siblings to the parents. I’ve struggled with that a lot😳

In the calendar section under reminders there is an option to select a date. It would be nice to be able to enter in reminders and have then sent out on that date. That way you could enter a bunch of stuff at once, say at the beginning of month and have hem go out automatically on the desired date.

Brightwheel makes it easy for teachers and parents to communicate, receive photos, videos and up to date information for their children. Parents can download photos and videos of their kids as well as keep up on their daily life in school. As for the Admin side of it, very easy to use and enter students information, move children from classes and use it for billing. They are trying to regularly make and add improvements.

Nachteile

Being on the East Coast and the Brightwheel team on the West Coast, it makes it difficult to communicate with them if you have an urgent need. Messages aren't read or answered in a timely manner, but hopefully they are working on improving this as well.

The reports feature is very time consuming. The employee timecards and many other reports require you to change settings within your excel etc to view regular times, dates, etc. Reports have to be individually emailed to you to view.

Billing does not allow a way to show credits on accounts. Billing feature does not allow you to track and bill subsidized payments.

The child assessments and observations area need improvements.

The design of the student sign in and out is an issue for privacy because all students pictures, names and classrooms are displayed on screen and you have to find your child to check them in/out.

The employee access to this app is not desirable. When you send your employees a link to sign up and assign them to a classroom they can access client information and communicate with them outside of your program from their personal devices.

The app does not work if you are not on wifi. This is problematic when on field trips and trying to use the app for attendance and to update parents. A previous parent communication app that we used before this one allowed us to still use the app while offline and then the notes, pictures etc would upload when you got on wifi.

It is apparent that the developers of this app did not seek out the needs and suggestions of center owners or administrators otherwise a lot of these oversights would have never been made.

There is really nothing to dislike about this software. As a user, I do not see as much of the backend as the daycare managers and employees see, however from what I have seen, it seems fairly easy to navigate and allows multiple users.

The billing feature just isn't up-to-par. Bills are automated, but are done separately, so it doesn't keep running totals of how much money a parent owes or a credit they may have. So I spend lots of time trying to keep up with with invoice a payment credits toward or how much money they have leftover. It's very confusing and time consuming. I have to open up different buttons to see where payments were credited. I just spent 45 minutes going over payments with a parent--all because I can't see how much money they still have on their account. I also thought the price was a little high.

I get to use this app to keep check on my daughter throughout the day because her daycare uses it! I love that they update parents during the day and I love getting pictures and videos of my child while I'm at work. It makes me feel like I'm not missing anything.

The cons that I have are that sometimes when you open the app, it's slow to start. Also there isn't a place where I could send a picture to my child's teacher if I need to. There was an incident where my child's hat was lost and I couldn't send a picture through the Brightwheel app, so I had to try to describe the hat to the teacher through the app...

Individual notifications for every event. They could have some settings to get notifications for like events in bulk by 30 mins like for a bunch of photos posted within a 30 min time frame you get one notification the first time and the restcomev at the end of 30 minutes as one.

There are many features to utilize here. My problems lie with the schools lack of effort to use this technology. I also dislike how the invoicing is done. No notifications were sent prior to paying my invoice, it just automatically took it out. Since my school does not invoice the same day every month. I wish they would notify you prior to withdraw. I get notifications daily about messaging. The same can be use to notify when an invoice is posted.
