My experience with Ansarada has been awesome, I started with them when I first came into the M&A world and during that time, I have tried a couple of others (to test the market / BCP etc) but I keep coming back to Ansarada. Great pricing structure, service and support coupled with a product that is simply to use yet complex enough to handle all transaction sizes and requirements. Also, they don’t sit still, even with the best product on the market they still strive to do more, improve features, expand use …. When a company operates like that its hard to trust anyone else.

As a smaller M&A advisor, we pretty much exclusively use Ansarda as a VDR for our sell-side clients. The process begins with the buyer (& their DD providers) sending us info request lists. We then upload documents to ansarada and index them according to the IRL. Today, we don't use the workflow function as it seems like an unnecessary step of adding and updating if the buyer can't see it. However, I think we would use it more if it was a buy-side facing function whereby we or the buyer could add their IRL to the workflow. We, as the sell-side, could then populate this with the requested documents - i.e the workflow being the document index.

Ansarada makes the VDR process straightforward and intuitive. Other VDRs have arduous steps that make the task of maneuvering a data room unpleasant. For example, they offer easy to use redacting that allow you to quickly redact in the Ansarada application.

Nachteile

It would be great if there was a way to redact across files without having to open up each individual file. For example, if I am uploading 100 customer agreements, if I could choose to redact a certain name or address across all of the files, it would save a lot of redundant work.

Sometimes it was challenging and long to see what had happened to the data room. We had many buyer teams and a large internal and found the activity data difficult to use in the sense of seeing what was relevant.
It would be fantastic if ansarada could develop a activity home page which shows activity of members in chronological order. (Almost like a social media feed...) I remember having a team member upload one document during the sales process and having to click on every person that had logged in to see if they had looked at it! (At our peak we had 15-20 buyer teams and it was a long process)
I was also required to make a “weekly report of activity” and I found myself effectively having to make one manually in excel. Would be great if they could improve the functionality of reporting.

I didn't find the software intuitive. I had real difficulty in navigating around and most often found myself having to return to the home screen and then scroll again through all the questions to find the one i wanted to work on. Often the questioner wanted to change the priority after posting the question & I had trouble matching these.

Ease of use. For someone who spends a lot of time in datarooms, ease of use is critical from a user perspective. Ansarada is intuitive and the customer service team is always very quick to respond.

The challenge with datarooms is getting buy-in from management teams. I appreciate that Ansarada has decent functionality to do Q&A through email, but it is tough to pull clients away from spreadsheets and sending Q&A in the body of emails, rather than through the platform itself. Anything Ansarada could do to help with the education process would be great.

The naming of documents could be done better. I personally do not like when I download the document and it comes with the number of the folder/subfolder.Also, everytime I ask clients to upload documents, they do not know how to add it to a folder that is already there and I always need to reclass them. This is something that I have experienced as well, since I don't think it is straightforward.

I like the ease of use of the platform. Compared with other VDR's I've used, Ansarada provides the best interface and functionality and is clearly developed with the end-users in mind.

I used Ansarada when I worked on bids. Not sure whether this was an administrator issue or not, however, there was a question that needed to provide an answer for on two different dates. We have found that once the answer to the question was provided for the first time, the second time there was no button to submit the answer available on the page and we had to find a work around to do it.

Thoroughly enjoyed the communication with the help desk chat function. People were eager to help and always found a solution. Understand there were a lot of request on our end, and the Ansarada team kept good performance throughout these issues that surged during our VDR process. Also available and communicative over the phone, which is appreciated.

I found the general setup structure on the index quite cumbersome. On our end we were trying to have a base unredacted VDR index and another one that was redacted and renamed. Would be helpful to have a staging folder option under the Manage > Documents options on the left hand side of the screen. On another topic, it would also be helpful to have a document counter on the top left of the screen when you select all document within a folder, for instance.
