Made our job easy

Vorteile

JobBoss is really a boss for helping organizations in monitoring progress of every transactions done, whether for delivery, inventory, payroll this really made our work easy.

Nachteile

it is quite hard to navigate, plus it doesn't get the changes easily. but so far its manageable though.

Moved from Epicor, like night and day. Easy to use, ease of access and availability of data...

Vorteile

Reporting is great, data analysis, organization, ease of use, shop flow, quickview can be used from anywhere in the shop, quality package is great

Nachteile

Reports are limited, no cloud based usage, email is inconsistent, custom reports are expensive and should be offered with the package.

Very good program for Job Shop use.

Vorteile

I like the functionality and the resources that are available throughout the program. JobBoss fits our custom metal fabrication and machine shop very well.

Nachteile

The exporting of reports to Excel can be a cumbersome process. The layout in JobBoss doesn't transition well into Excel.

Vorteile

Estimating, job tracking, quality module, everything about your business is at your finger tips the time savings is incredible.

Nachteile

Not many, it would be nice to work backwards on occasion as we do some on the fly jobs and it would be nice to turn jobs back into quotes.

Simple and Powerful

Vorteile

Easy to train, not bloated with bells and whistles. Each component/module is straight forward and the help files do a good job of giving an overview of that function.

Nachteile

The client/server characteristics, not being able to refresh but having to go out of screens and back in.

Simplifies the production process from start to finish.

E2 maintains crucial information about job pricing, scheduling and time management. It has reports that combines this data to supervise jobs more efficiently.

Nachteile

Wish it had an easy calendar format in scheduling module to move dates and more options in the report formats.

Better than the other systems I have used.

Ease of use is one of the most important things about this system. If there are any questions, you call and get an answer from knowledgeable and courteous reps. I highly recommend to give them a shot!!

Vorteile

The Quality Mod is worth its weight in gold for our ISO system.

Small manufacturing business user

Vorteile

This product is helping to streamline our manufacturing process by tracking which phase of production each order is in. It is also helping to track inventory and minimize redundancies encountered in our former system.

Nachteile

Although we purchased the accounting add-on, it is not up to par with our previous system. We do not utilize a third party payroll system, and payroll is really not supported in E2. Also, commission payments to sales people do not flow through from order initiation to payment of the rep.

Nachteile

The con's are that sometimes it locks up or is slow entering data. If I am working on a lengthy order it starts to slow down.

Wishing for more significant upgrades

Seems like decent produce which could benefit from improved consistency and features.

Vorteile

Interface if fairly straightforward to figure out.
Customer service is consistently helpful..

Nachteile

Multiple screens required to make changes to jobs, POs, etc.
Custom utilities required for many activities that should have been native.
Material mastering needs redone from scratch with added fields/features
Many inconsistencies in searchs/lookups to many different behaviors. each search field needs to start displaying as you start typing with no secondary popups like for looking up customers.

My review

Generally this is a great product. We have a few issues from time to time and a few things don't make sense to us but all in all we are happy with the information we collect and analyze with E2.

Vorteile

That it is easy to use on a day to day basis. We can look at information in real time.

Nachteile

Because we are job shop using the scheduling is a little difficult. We have had a few training sessions on using it however it doesn't seem to work as easily as other modules. Also something that really annoys me is that I cannot set the Tax default to Yes on the Vendor Invoice module. And I think I should have an option of typing in the PO# to bring up a receiver also in Vendor Invoicing. Also we feel we should have the option to look up a job# in Order entry by using the Quote #.

Easy to learn & use

Make sure all users know how to use it & everyone is on the same page - we still have some people do something one way and others another way ( naming files, description formats etc).

Vorteile

Easy but does everything that we require (probably more than what we use it for). Many ways of searching/finding information. Real-time updates on everything in system.

Nachteile

A few glitches where we are booted out one in a while in the middle of doing something but not sure if that's a software or hardware issue. Not really a con but some things I'd like to see changed or added but usually only think of it when I'm in the middle of doing something and think "...well it would be nice if it did so-and-so..."

E2 Manufacturing

It is somewhat difficult for me to give an accurate review of this system as I have only been working with it for about 6 months and provided limited training prior to taking on the task of using the program. But overall I am not a big fan.

Vorteile

At first glance, it appears to a very simple program and easy to work with.

Nachteile

It is cumbersome and clunky. Online training is provided but we have found that often the training is incomplete and really doesn't answer specific questions we may have.

Making changes within the program are challenging and often it is unclear whether the change will actually do what we need it to.

OK system

Vorteile

Keeps the shop well organized, keeps track of what employees are doing

I like that there are more features available to take us into electronic scheduling etc. tracking of jobs feature is good but not quite complete.

I wish there were more locally offered specific topic trainings offered, half day seminars on scheduling etc.

Accounting Manager

We are testing the beta and it just going to take a while to get used to the system. i do not like the fact that i can not use two E2's at the same time.

Our company purchased this software in 1997, 21 years later we are still happy with the system.

Vorteile

The software is many options that you can use or not use. It is user friendly but I think the customer support is the best.

Nachteile

The least item I am not fond of is in the accounting module that has required information needed even if you don't use that.

Haven't had a chance to use the program live yet.

Nachteile

Training/learning videos. Videos are very short and only touch on the very basics. On line classes are only available at certain times and for one section at a time. It would be much more convenient to have the classes made into videos that are available to view at anytime from the help section of the software. From the short videos I have watched there does not seem to be a flow in the processes. Looks like you need to exit one section in order to complete the next step instead of being able to continue to next process from same page. IE filling orders and creating packing slip for shipping.

E2 is old and outdated- There is a reason why it cost less upfront!

Vorteile

Cost, the price is attractive up front but when you implement you soon find out the short comings. This solution may be good for a 3 person shop that would like to work in the stone age. Good starter solution but it will not help you grow.

Nachteile

Outdated, hard to run reports, errors, no spell check no cut and paste in some fields. It really works against you. We went with E2 years ago because we thought it was a good solution- it is sad to see that they do not keep up with the times. No real improvements in years, same old stumbling blocks and roadblocks. Really no spell check? I have custom quotes go out with typos...

Vorteile

Great functions. Customer support is knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. Most of the business can be managed with this software.

Nachteile

We had a hard time with material at first, but after taking online classes we can now control our inventory.

Job Boss Review

Job Boss is user-friendly. The canned reports have too much info on them but it is easy to transfer to excel to get more concise info.

Overall easy to use and save time

It is easy to track jobs for quoting thru invoicing and easy to transfer dat form similar jobs you have done in the past to new jobs.

I've been using this product for over six years.

Vorteile

Very user-friendly, except for the scheduling module. I use the accounting side more than the production side, and I find it very easy to use. If you run into a problem, customer service will always help you out and is very friendly.

Nachteile

The scheduling system. It really depends on the product that's manufactured. Sometimes, we have hot jobs that need to be put into production right away, and that seems to cause problems. The scheduling module is very in-depth, and in order to understand it, I believe you need to have a background or some knowledge of production scheduling to operate this part of the system properly.

It gets the job done.

It does not make sense to have the packing list & invoice information print out differently. The PO#, PART#, and Packing list# are important information on an invoice and should be easy to find and located in the first few lines of the Invoice, not hard to find and in the lower/middle invoice area. Also, the customer's PO# should be easier to find on the packing list -again, not located towards the bottom.

Vorteile

It tracks information for each job so you don't have to enter it yourself, which saves time and money.

Nachteile

The way the invoice and packing list information are not located in the same places when they are printed. This makes them harder to match up for us and our customers. For example, PO# and PART#.

All my info in one place

I like that I'm able to keep all my information in one place. log in and see where my jobs are, if they are on track, etc. Not always having to run to the floor and talk to 4 or 5 different people to find out where a job is located, etc before I figure out what's going on. Saves me time and effort.

Good product

Jobboss has been an asset for us even though there are a number of small improvements that would make the system customized specific for our operation.

Keeping track

We are in the process of switching to their cloud base formate and it looks nicer and easy to deal with

Vorteile

It's incredibly user friendly and streamlined for the most part. Very powerful with lots of report options etc.

Nachteile

It can be very laggy/slow. It has a tendency to crash at times. It needs to just generally be optimized better.

For nineteen years our company had managed our paperwork manually (time sheets, time cards, handwritten orders, delivery tickets, purchase orders, etc.), besides using Peachtree software specifically for accounting. We researched quite a bit on 'job shop softwares' out there and came across E2 Shoptech. The initial contact answered many of our questions and also sent us references. After speaking to about a dozen current E2 users who had used the product for many years, we decided to purchase the product. What a blessing!! It has taken us a good year to get our guys use to using a computer to enter everything, but well worth the investment. It does everything we need it to do (estimating, quoting, ordering, shipping, invoicing, purchasing, payroll, time clocks, accounting, etc.). Any questions we have, we call tech support and they immediately answer our questions or remote in to see what we are looking at. We had the trainer visit with us three separate times, each a two-day visit. He was able to answer all of our questions, show us the most efficient ways of doing things, and explained everything to where we could understand it. There is much more that E2 is capable of doing that we haven't even gotten to yet. We've been in business twenty years now and plan to continue using E2 for the next twenty! E2 Shoptech has been a great investment for our growing business!!

Review for E2

Vorteile

I like how easy it is to use and get all the things I need for the products we ship out on a daily basis. I am still fairly new to using it so I'm sure there are a lot more things i will learn about this program that will benefit me and the company I work for.

Nachteile

We switched to JobBOSS in December of 2006, after attending an IMTS show and viewing the ease of use of their software. Our previous software had become cumbersome and hard to use. Implementation at the end of the year was a lofty goal, but with all hands in on the conversion we were able to migrate the data on our own in two weeks. Some modules were left unused for the first couple of months but by the 6th month we were utilizing everything.

JobBOSS is easy to train on and having a "dummy" database to play with helps with new ideas or training purposes. When we implemented, half of the trainees were interns (straight out of school) but everybody was able to pick it up with ease. Our JobBOSS trainer worked at the speed we needed him to be at to be up and running with the software by January 2007- fast on some days, slow on other days. We do no seek JobBOSS customer support that often. There are the occasional bugs that you will get with any software upgrade but we have not sought additional help with their software.

In my chats with other users, I have talked with " half users" of the software and wonder how they can maintain two different software and databases for everyday business functions. JobBOSS is spectacular if you utilize every module and report. It is what you put into it. Put everything into and it will let you see everything you need to know.

Could not be more satisfied!

I have been using the software for about three years now. The implementation has gone well. Excellent support from everyone I have interacted with. The day to day use of the system has been exceptionally easy. Excellent program.

It has proven worth the investment.

Kelbros Inc. specializes in precision CNC hard turning & machining for the plastic molding industry; including plastic injection molds, die cast dies, rubber & glass molds, and medical, food packaging, marine, & music industries. We started out small and cautiously grew through the years. Initially, we kept hand-written records. As we grew, we developed a custom-made database for our job tracking time & costs. As time went on, our job shop software became a nuisance and actually created more down time in repairs to the system, data entry, and overall usage. We also used a separate accounting system, therefore, had the need for “double-entry” on many items.

Basic shop management software lacking refinement and flash, but a great overall value.

Free Force's opinion of E2

Vorteile

E2 has dramatically increased the overall efficiency in quoting, entering orders and shipping. Having all the job documentation linked and available in one spot is great. The quality module is key to maintaining our Quality Management system.
Both support and sales provide excellent and prompt responses to problems or questions. Very friendly and easy to work with. Having technicians log on remote to solve problems is a great feature.

Nachteile

UPS shipping interface for canadian customers - when we first tried to implement a few years ago it was not successful. Hoping to try again in 2015

Shoptech has amazing customer support

I use E2 / Shoptech everyday. It is very easy to use and the customer support is amazing. I always get help quickly. They have even worked directly with our outside IT team when needed.

Very user friendly, accurate and proffesional

This is just a comment and not a negative response...............I am working on the quality side of the business and would like to see some forms/templates available within the system pertaining to quality, i.e.
Control of Documents, Calibration, Internal Audit, Vendor evaluations, Customer satisfaction, Management review, etc....

I personally have only been using shop tech for a short time but I found it very user friendly right from the start. The other users here are very happy with it and also all of our customers and partners that are using the system also speak highly of it as well.

Great system, once you learn to use it
