Great software

We have been using JobBoss software for many years in the Terabyte. It takes a little time to learn and work on them. The software and its full functions, and well developed but it has been software in our environment and easy our work in our field.

Vorteile

It's easy to use and has a lot of functions. Exporting to excel or access is quick and easy too. The layout is very straightforward.

Nachteile

Everything must be entered manually, setting up the templates is time consuming, and reports are not versatile.

Vorteile

I appreciate the ability to reach out to the customer service team and speak to an individual that is more than willing to answer your questions.

Nachteile

The security features are limited which poses the dilemma of giving a user all access or no access.

Great Business Software

Vorteile

Our Company has been using E2 in our Business since 2003, we have not had any down time in the 13 years we have been using it. E2 has proven itself worthy of the original investment with ease of use from creating an RFQ, through to the Customer invoice. The system is well laid out and not intimidating. Tech support is very knowledgeable and helpful.

Nachteile

We are very satisfied with E2, if we HAD to pick one thing, the customization of reports could be easier to develop.

E2 Shop System and small machining/fabrication shops.

Vorteile

The E2 shop system has been a great "step up" from our previous ERP system. It's a well thought out system and we've yet to encounter a "problem" where the software hasn't been able to provide a "solution". The documentation and tutorials are more than adequate to get you using the system quickly and the support staff have been very responsive to any questions we have had.

Nachteile

Some of the documentation could use a "refresh" to the current revision level of the software.

We were lost before implementing E2!

Vorteile

We have been using E2 since 2007 and it basically runs our shop. It integrates us with our customers, vendors and employees through an easy to use database interface. It is easy to train new employees to use the software, due to its intuitive menu layout and logical "step-by-step" construction.

Nachteile

There is one drawback to the version we are running, and that is having to back out of one menu to go to another. It is not a deal breaker, you just get used to it.

E2 drives our day to day operations. Real-time data collection captures shopfloor Time & Attendance and Job Time. E2 Shop System

We bought this system thinking it was going to be very user friendly. The problem is it take so much information to get to the end game to make it worth while. We are a true Job shop and we have 1000's of different parts we do in a year. 50% of which won't repeat often. This was just too cumbersome for us to use. We have developed a few excel programs and inventory management solutions that just fit our needs more closely.

Vorteile

It is an all inclusive system that might work well for shops doing repetitive work.

Nachteile

Too much data needs to be entered to quote a single part. Also, you cannot quote multiple Qty's at different labor rates. You can quote different labor rates per operation, but from a QTY breakdown you cannot. Not a great program for those specialty shops doing many different parts each day.

We used E2 for 5 years

Vorteile

The ease of use from creating an estimate all the way through issuing a customer invoice is great. The software is laid out that mimics our business process very well. Once you you learn one module, the next module becomes very intuitive to learn.

Nachteile

The cost of extra seats even if you have a user that just need viewing ability. There should be separate costs for view only versus full data entry. The GUI (appearance) needs updated.

A great system to implement in any shop

We have been able to start true costing in our shop and it has made pulling reports for our performance measures very easy. I'm looking forward to see other improvements that E2 will create in our facility.

We are small machine shop employing only 15. We have 3 users on E-2, but mainly one that uses it everyday, all day. I helped to implement E-2 into our company, we were tracking information with spreadsheets before getting the software. I have been using the software for 8 years and learn new things continually. We are using version 7.2.11.

The most beneficial thing I have found with E-2 is that you can track information in all screens and how it is all tied together. There is nothing that we have required that E-2 hasn't provided. I am totally impressed with customer service. They are very knowledgeable and able to help with every question in a professional and efficient manner.

On two separate occasions I have thought that I had lost all my data. They stayed with me having me try different steps to correct the problem. After it was all said and done we realized it was a problem with our server. The peace of mind I have is priceless.

We have yet to try to use the scheduling, payroll, or the scanning capabilities. When we are ready to utilize those features I feel confident they will perform with the same reliability.

Cannot email from print screen.

Some things do not pull from customer order screen to vendor order screen. Would like customer PO to pull.
Would prefer some things that do pull customer order screen onto vendor order screen. Do not want ship date to pull - I advise customer approximate delivery date but need to give vendor a ship date.

We have been using the E2 System for about. 6 years now and are very pleased. It took some work to adapt to it, especially with our business being primarily distributor based. We represent numerous businesses and we distribute their products, mostly pneumatic and hydraulic products.

We do not do any machine work, which I believe most Shoptech's customers do, but with their help and expertise we were able to adapt the system for our use and have become extremely comfortable using it. I would say it's very user-friendly. After our initial setup we were up and operating within 6 months and haven't looked back. The support from Shoptech's technicians were very courteous and helpful, along with being patient as we tried to explain any problems we encountered.

I highly recommend a visit to a Shoptech customer prior to purchasing. You will leave with no doubt that you made the right decision.

Overall this systems is very easy to use. From start to end everything is simplified in comparison to the system I had previously.

The technical support is exceptional.

Your search features are not the greatest; I do think things should be easier to find, for instance - when you search for a part, if you don't have the first letters of a part exactly right, it can't seem to find it. It would be nice for the search function to look in all of the fields to find its results.

Vorteile

Your technical support team is able to answer almost every question I've asked. And there are some very useful reports that can be generated which compile data we've been for for a long time.

Nachteile

It is slightly inflexible; it will just take some getting used to. I also work with Quickbooks, which is very, very easy to fix once you know the system. E2 may very well be the same way - I just need to learn the tricks. I feel that there should be more in the Tables category that can be set up as a template, for instance, the Routings. It would be nice to be able to apply template routings for types of products made, that can be edited, then flushed back whenever a change is made to that template. I've found a "workaround," thanks to help from your support team, but I'd like to see Routing Templates as an option in Tables.

E2 is user friendly and easy to implement

Vorteile

E2 is very flexible and easy to use. I have implemented many ERP systems over the years, and I had E2 up and running in less than 6 weeks. It is a pretty straightforward product, they do all the little things right. The shop I am currently helping is a mixed mode manufacturer with roughly 60% job shop and 40% repeat work.

E2 does a nice job with the templates for our repeat work so we don't have to re-enter all the routers and BOM's. The information flows nicely from the quote through the order entry process.

My client is very happy with E2 and we would highly recommend it to others.

Nachteile

Not really anything to complain about. The product is easy to get up and running and the support is pretty good. We did run into a couple of minor problems, but their tech support was able to handle rather quickly. It turned out that we had set up some of the tables wrong.

Scam

I wasted my money! Almist $6000 for accounting module with no shop floor control.. doesn't work well.. NO REFUNDS!!!!

Precision Technologies

I have worked with other manufacturing software & prefer E2. I find it's easy for new users to understand.

Vorteile

I like the web based E2 as it eliminates the COMPACT & REPAIR and numerous upgrades that required employees to log off while being implemented.

Nachteile

Application tends to LAG and can't keep up with tabbing & typing. Also don't like the constant use of the MOUSE. Would love to have some HOT keys to work with. Liked the previous E2's page style setup when entering jobs....don't like all the scrolling.

Mar-Vel Tool Company is considered to be a small business that currently has a workforce of 17 people. The nature of this industry is either feast or famine so we needed dependable, user-friendly software. In March 1998 we became a customer of Shoptech Industrial Software at the recommendation of our accountant. We are presently using the E2 Shop System - Release 7.2.8, which works very well. Prior to acquiring our system we recorded everything manually so, needless to say recordkeeping was quite laborious.

Implementation/training for our two users only took a few days. With the Support Technicians at Shoptech the transition was flawless. Some of the modules utilized by both users on a daily basis are: Orders, Shop Control, Cost Analysis, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and General Ledger. The technical support in any area at Shoptech has been outstanding. We were provided with operating manuals, so not much assistance is necessary. When we have called for guidance the response is superb. If enhancements are required, Shoptech will work with our users to produce a positive, swift result.

Cutting edge of Technology

As a CNC routing company we've had all the newest technology when it comes to our CNC routers, and especially our wood powder coating line, but we were still doing quotes the old fashion way, pen and paper. I have been one of the primary users of E2, and after data entry, it cuts my time dramatically. There are quotes that would have taken me all day to do, but with E2 I was able to get them complete in less than an hour. Quoting and billing are the primary functions we use at this time with E2, and I can tell you that it works seamlessly with QuickBooks, which was super beneficial to us as we didn't want to reinvent the wheel when it came to accounting. E2 allowed for a smooth transition where we can use both products and not miss a beat.

E2 Review

The system does not automatically update due to not being a cloud system, which causes frequent error messages and delays. The system however, is very use friendly and allows simple and easy creation of travelers. The system is also very easy for shop floor associates to navigate with little computer literacy. All in all, E2 gets the job done, but efficiency improvement and compatibility issues could be made.

Our company implemented the E2 Shop System approximately 5 years ago and we have used nothing else within our company since that time. As Office Manager/Shipping and Receiving/Inventory Manager, I have found the E2 system saves time, mistakes and is very user friendly. The E2 Support Team has been easily accessible and excellent source of information for all my questions. The system also allows me to easily keep record of shipment tracking for our Shipping Department, and for the first time our Inventory is accurate and easily kept up to date so that the Sales Department can use E2 for quoting.

Mistakes and double entries no longer are an issue. We are able to use the same internal number from entry of a new order thru payment received from our customers, which makes tracking of a job, updating information, and adding notes for the job extremely easy. I have found this also has been very helpful with multiple employees using the E2 Shop System. The reports, Orders, POs, Receivers, Invoices are easy to read and work within. We have found them to be very useful as our company grows and expands.

Extremely Powerful Software

Vorteile

JobBoss is EXTREMELY versatile, they can handle almost any type of job shop product. Very robust when it comes to the overall breadth of their applicability.

Nachteile

There are some modules that are better than others. Material control, inventory control, costing all seem to be weak points. Large (100+ component) assemblies with multiple release dates are tedious and very difficult to try to manage.

JobBOSS in a lab setting

Vorteile

After setting up the program (inputting work centers, operations, employees, shifts, etc.), it is very simple and straightforward to use. The on-demand training videos were very well put together.

Nachteile

There are small nit-picky details that are annoying until they become second nature. For example, just about every module in the program makes you enter an input and won't activate the rest of the screen until you press tab, not enter like most every other program. For some more complicated functions, (we wanted to use the program as a record of material properties of samples we test in our lab and put together our own reports separate from the pre-loaded ones) you almost had to pay an extra fee for a customer service representative to talk you through the process. There was documentation on their website, but it was very hard to find and implement.

E2 Shop System

Highly recommend.

Vorteile

Tracks job status from order entry thru the billing cycle very efficiently.
Intuitive screens and very short learning curve for new users.
With the exception of WIP, The provided accounting reports have been perfect for our needs without the need to customize.
Support is excellent with very short response time and usually resolved within the same phone call. And to my knowledge, all support is U.S. based with no language barrier to overcome.

Nachteile

Purchase Order/Receiver discrepancies are difficult to resolve.
Corrections to Posted periods are Cumbersome.
Does not allow for detailed invoicing without exporting to other application.

Purchasing

Overall E2 works for us.

Vorteile

Have had shop tech for 9 years. For our basic needs it is very easy to use and navigate. Customer Service is very good at taking care of any issues we come across.

Nachteile

I don't like that when you enter a payable you can't see the address to compare to the Invoice. Companies move and update their remittance. Sometimes this is missed when entering a payable invoice.

tri-kris E2 review

All and all a great prduct for us. I highly recommend to any similiar business. We reviewed 6 other systems prior to buying E2. And I couldn't be any happier with our choice .

Vorteile

We've used E2 for over 10 years. It's done everything that's come up for our business. A couple of the nice features is it does everything from accounting to quotes. Screens are similar so its not hard to learn new features. And all the data flows thru so you only enter data once. We run a $3M company with 2 people in the office and 18 machinists on the shop floor ( and we have time to spare in the office ). Before E2 we had 5 people in the office. Tech support has been great. But truthfully we don't use it much. The system is very stable.

Nachteile

A little slow in releasing new versions capable of running the latest and greatest window versions. But I guess that's to be expected with all the testing and such.

Easy to use. Modifying Reports is a downer.

Vorteile

How easy it is to Navigate around the program. I have had no "formal" training in navigating around the system when i started, but after about 2 weeks it was pretty easy to catch on.

Nachteile

The inability to modify reports unless you export them to excel or pay a lot off money to have an outside source do it, or spend big bucks to have an individual trained to be able to do Crystal Reports.

Every Module I have experienced Great

We are first using client of E2 Shoptech Since they came into the market. Service, updates, yearly Maintenance,
The price is very effective. The service they are providing from quotations to Invoices and purchasing to checking with no other software I have seen doing this.
This is why we are still using E2.

We are a large Capitol Equipment Manufacture operating in the Global Market. Providing speed of product to the customer is critical to survival in a competitive Market. E-2 Shop System gives us continuous live access to the production allowing us to monitor and track jobs, alter the operation for customer emergencies and apply excess capacity to speed critical product through the system. It has allowed us to reduce critical need through put and improved customer satisfaction. At the same time it has allowed us to be a true LEAN operation.

We are able to look at, evaluate, and compare over time the entire product flowing through our processes from proposal to customers dock. Inventory reduction was not possible to eliminate, material at the door on the day it is needed, and maintenance scheduling are only a few of the items that have been used in continuous improvement. E-2 Shop System has allowed us to remain cost effective and competitive in today’s market. While making each employee accountable for their own progress and improvement with in the processes they work with.

Using Jobs, Sales Orders and Accounting

Vorteile

Seems to be flexible enough for our metal stamping job shop which as over 250 unique jobs. Vendor help was readily available for set up and use.

Nachteile

The product is not intuitive and there were too may ways to perform the same function with no help from the vendor on how to decide the best for our shop. Vendor webinars were a waste of time. There is no lesson plan and the teachers don't seem to want to answer specific questions about the problems we were having with set up. They give you different answers to the same question without advice on the what results from each answer. They seem to want to just sell more classes, one guy spent about 20 minutes telling me his life story.

Roberts Precision Machine, Inc. is a CNC job shop established in 1987. We chose E2 for our shop control system in 2003. E2 is a system that you can scale up as you succeed and grow. After an intensive setup weekend, we were using E2 for shop routing and job quoting. We then integrated material inventory and purchasing history. After a few years, we added E2's barcode scanning hardware and we started tracking jobs in real time on the shop floor; then we added the Advanced Scheduling module to help us correctly load the shop to hit our customer due dates with greater accuracy. We then added the WEBview module, so our customers could see their job history, access quotes and quote history, and track the progress of their jobs as went through our shop. We have recently added the Advanced Quality module, and we are working with the E2 training team to certify our shop to AS9100, REV. C.

At every turn, as we have grown our business, E2 has been a valuable partner, aiding and assisting us in achieving our vision and goals. The team at E2 has worked very hard to help us succeed.

We are a machine shop that caters to the Aerospace, Medical and Nuclear Industries.
We were using Excel and Access Data Base to drive our management system, but were growing and needed a system that could grow with us.

We have been using E2 since 2006 and the implementation took approximately 30 days to fully convert. Our team learned to use E2 fairly quickly and when we did have issues the tech support at E2 was there to coach us through how to solve the problem.

The customer support at E2 is excellent and we always receive the help required in a timely fashion. The company has benefited from E2 in a few different ways. We are able to keep track of quotes, jobs billing and training quickly and efficiently. All of our data is in one place for easy access and it is all interconnected to keep the paper trail easy to follow.

I would like to see E2 function more like Windows in the future, sometimes being able to toggle between screens and to click and drag would be very helpful. I would also like to be able to print the Customer Feedback from the feedback screen.

Small shop ERP system

We have used E2 for 8+ years and it definitely is a step above excel sheets etc. However, we are having to move onto a new ERP because our company has outgrown E2.

Vorteile

I like E2, it is easy to use BUT not for a medium to large size company. It is also more for manufacturing only.

Nachteile

It is not flexible, cannot add fields, and customize to your business very well. When you do want to customize something, you pay a fee.

Exactly What We Were Looking For

Vorteile

We began the search for a Software System that could not only manage our Shop, but also compliment our current Accounting Program with all of the tools to manage our office. We involved a handful of demos from a number of different programs. For some reason, E2 was the one that grabbed our attention, and it was the only one that we asked for a second demo. At this point, we are really pleased with the breadth and depth of this operating system. We like that it offers versatility, yet functionality to really simplify the day to day office/shop tasks as needed. ShopTech has been wonderful to work with, reaching out to us, and being available to us as needed. I feel like they have been professionally available, yet not being bothersome as some that I've experienced in the past.

Nachteile

At the time that we bought this product, I didn't realize that there was an annual charge for maintenance. I wish that would have been covered at the time that we were considering it. I only discovered it as I was reading through the contract.

Ease of use, management of data, and excellent customer, and technical support. With issues which may arise, E2 personal are there to help.

Nachteile

Need for training to better utilize the software, some functions are not intuitive whereas others are.

User Friendly, Fluid, and Adaptable

Vorteile

Very well established software and very predictable. If there is a problem, the support team has the answer, and if necessary custom features can be added.

Nachteile

Some lists duplicate and cannot be sorted for ease of finding a particular document when in an order or quote. This is not an issue when in the documents module. Scheduling module is not ever working perfectly.

Easiest Product to Work With

Vorteile

This product has helped turn around ALL reporting compared to our old ERP solution. It is simple to use and everything seems to flow the way it should from RFQ to Invoicing, this system was a no-brainer for our manufacturing company.

Nachteile

I wish the online training and manuals were up to date with the latest version. I also would like to see more help with Crystal Reports.

Easy to learn software

My overall experience with E2 Shop System has been very good. The implementation has been fairly smooth.

The reports are not named well and it takes awhile to find the exact report you need.

We purchased the full system and quality module over a year ago, and have struggled with it ever since. It's true that the software has a simple, intuitive interface, however, it is clearly designed around a repetitive manufacturing process that uses machines instead of people to produce products. We are a job shop where our parts are made by hand (not machines) and scheduling priorities are constantly changing. The system doesn't work well with our dynamic operation and high variety of production and shipment requirements.

When we engage customer support with questions, the most common response is that the system can't do what we need it to do. If we want that capability we must pay for customization. The quality module is limited in its capabilities, allowing the user(s) to only input basic information, and cannot tie more than one employee to a quality issue. Twice we have had a specialist come to our site for one-on-one support. Both times they have left without giving us concrete solutions. If you’re a small machine-tool shop, this may work for you.

Easy to use Enterprise Software

I've been a long time user and have been satisfied with the performance of Shoptech and E2.

Vorteile

The software supports all aspects of my business equally well and is intuitive, and relatively easy to learn.

Nachteile

Multi-level bills of material with different quantities generate a lot of confusion about parent part pricing. We don't subscribe to the annual support because it is extremely expensive.
