There are no drawbacks to Confluence. It's a surprisingly easy-to-learn service that significantly enhances our knowledge base and consistently delivers impressive results.

I don't like that there isn't a folder structure and it's just a document tree, as the "top-level" information can get lost, as people think it's a placeholder. It can also be the wild west if there are not rules in place with the company with many teams using it.

It's great that we're able to link Teams, Jira, and other platforms seamlessly via Confluence.

There were some hiccups in granting permissions to new users, but that was resolved by waiting about an hour.

The best knowledge tool we have used so far. It's incredibly easy to create new spaces for team, content and task organization is good. It has it marketplace with many plugins which increase initial functionality and you are able to create beautiful knowledge bases.

Nachteile

Some functions could come as standard and not over plugins but on the other hand that what marketplace is here.

My primary use for this tool is to reference internal company documents, goings-on, and as a general knowledge base for technical information. It is intuitive and fulfills my needs perfectly; I can find and access everything I look for on the platform and is easily searchable and organized.

I’ve had minor formatting and updating issues with this tool, but most could be solved with better maintenance by the managers of those pages.

We have an internal "Wiki" using Atlassian Confluence which is an awesome resource for us. Our company has a ton of different products and offerings with specific nuances and requirements, so having this Wiki hub has been hugely helpful for our reference.

Nachteile

Nothing so far! There are times where I struggle to find things within the Wiki hub, but that is not a knock against the product, more so just has to do with how my company has set things up.

We are using confluence on a daily level, we are making databases, rules, and all of the documentation that we need for our projects. Easily select multiple spaces, so you can keep track of everything.

Last project we were working on got removed, but it was our fault, didn't pay attention the the inactivity period.

It can be used for knowledge sharing, documentation and project management, and supports all purposes with a massive library of templates. You can also set up and edit your own templates. A relatively new feature is whiteboards, which can be used for brainstorming sessions.

There is a strong synergy with Jira, you can, for example, set up tables pulling data from various Jira projects for reporting purposes.

The permissions are very straightforward to set up, even for less experienced users.

It's not ideal for file sharing/storage, so it could still be worth it to use something like SharePoint as well.

I experienced confluence as a content consumer on my team. It was very easy to find important information for the sales team and the company. It was easy to learn how to use. I enjoyed having one place to easily search and save information when attempting to learn.

There is not much I can say. As a content consumer, I loved it and how easy it was to use. The interface was very user-friendly as well. I enjoyed the search and save features. Perhaps, the experience might be different if you are also the person who is creating the content to be saved within Confluence. As a consumer, I enjoyed my experience completely.

It is probably the most intuitive and open solution I have used for knowledge management. It works perfectly, allows you do whatever you want to do, and keep expanding.

Without the right guidance and control, you can easily grow and lose control of the documents and files. It is so open that having guidelines and enforcing them is critical to achieving efficiency.

It's very easy to document project and other content, and share with people to collaborate. It pairs perfectly with Jira and it offers a lot of modules to make the documentations easy to read. There are also a lot of pre-made templates you can chose from.

I think the hardest bit is to convince the rest of the Business to start using the software instead of Google Documents. It's far better but somehow challenging to make people move to it.

I like the way Confluence is set out it displays all the information as you may want it to. The sites across our internal platform have been customised and it is super easy to navigate and search across Confluence definitely a plus.

Nachteile

Having inherited a users site I would recommend having an admin team and manage the overall instance of Confluence. The permissions, access can easily spiral out of control. Not being an admin I have not dealt with the permissions aspect but I would highly recommend having global and local rules as a starting point.

It is really easy to use and extremely simple to implement. For agile teams it is almost a must have software to easily collaborate and share common documentation and roadmaps
