The way how it is structured is simple and easy to follow to any users. One of the main challenges we previously experienced was the way to share our assets with people outside our organization. It saves our time and allows us control the access to our assets so it has been helpful. I was not part of the actual integration but I heard it was smoothly done.

I cannot think of anything at this moment.

the tagging system allows for easy search-ability. folders and albums allow for organization efficiency. the plug-in with In-Design makes it possible to easily connect documents and files with flight.

the way that tags are done could be streamlined so that users could "apply all" to certain assets rather than retyping the tags over again. another option to highlight images that you would like to go back in look at could be useful (there is something like this currently, however, the assets are all in a giant folder and you cannot make further distinctions between files)

The ease of searching and storing images. We upload thousands of pictures a week with different content, and Canto's software lets us tag and order photos with very little effort.

We wish it had more sharing options since we use multiple platforms to send photos internally.

Adding and sharing files to Canto is quick and easy. I love that files can be downloaded immediately, no matter how large the file may be.

I wish there was a way to add files to folders without having to create an album first. It's a minor problem, but as someone who is constantly uploading files into Canto, it would save a little time and make the uploading process a bit smoother.

It is customizable and all the controls are super useful. The permissions structure is great for managing governance and the client loves all the detailed options. The customizable metadata has been essential to their success. They also love the Adobe Connector and the portals and style guides. The UI is intuitive so onboarding has been smooth. It's a good value. They release new features regularly.

Nachteile

The tiered storage pricing by TB has been difficult for my client, but they have a strict budget so they're making it work, and Canto was the best value of all the DAM platforms we looked at.

Ease of setup, the ability to relate files, and the customizable portals.

Does not support MS PowerPoint, the cost per portal, and consumer licenses.

Flight is efficient, user friendly, and the best DAM tool we've ever used. It's central to our marketing communications and allows our in-house teams to collaborate without needless emails and meetings. We experience the benefits of this system on a daily basis!

What I liked most about Canto is the Smart Tagging feature. This features allows users to find photos they may need, but only have vague information about the photo they are looking for. This feature has saved my a lot of time instead of having browse for long periods of time.

I have no cons to speak on. For how and why I use Canto, everything fits my needs.

Canto has a great interface, both on the front and back end. Looks super polished on the consumer-facing side, and the backend uploading process is pretty straightforward and easy to use. Also is a great value as a mid-tier priced program with upper-tier functionality. Great customer service

Nachteile

The cold storage aspect is a nice feature, but it takes a really long time to retrieve an item if you actually need it.

It is intuitive to use and the frequent updates are helpful in improving and keeping the system current.

We do not have any issues with using Canto.

Canto offers a lot of features to further customize and filter your assets. Be sure to take the training from the start and organize assets accordingly.

Ideally I would like to have portals more customizable. Portals can be limited and it was a hub where we showed our clients the assets we had for them

We liked the adobe integration with Canto, along with the Portal options. We have a portal for internal assets company wide that has been a great tool for us.

UI is a bit difficult. Our contributors and consumers struggle and tend to need guidance.

There is nothing else on the market that compares from a price/value perspective. To find a product that provides as many features, you would be spending 4 times the cost of Canto

The application client interface hasn't changed in over 10 years, it needs to become more user-friendly with a redesigned interface.

We enjoy the ability to create portals. We make use of the portals for wholesale customers, photographers, as well as internal use. I like that we're able to customize the look of the portals as well

Occasionally we run into slow speed when uploading large quantities of images at once.

Canto is easy to use and customize. We love using the public portal feature to create assets galleries for various internal and external stakeholders of pre-approved content.

Wish there was a quick view/indicator in the thumbnail view that lets you see if an asset is restricted or not.

As a small independent school with many digital assets, we have been able to organize and share our files more easily with different departments at our school.

There is a bit of a learning curve for the users, but for those who want to learn it does not take long to understand how to find the asset the asset they need.

Easy to find the items you need. You can add so many different items into Canto and it can meet many users needs and easy to customize for their needs.

Customizing Sites is tedious and should be made easier. I was disappointed when a few upgrades didn't have many changes to how Sites could be modified.

We had been using a simplified asset management system, but realized we needed something more robust. Canto was able to deliver what we needed. We needed something that was easy to use, had the ability to add many users for internal access as well as the ability to share externally, and needed very good cataloging/search tools. It does all that and much more. Canto has been great for us as we now have all of our media assets in one place.

Nachteile

Not necessarily a knock on the software, unless there is a solution to this problem. But mass uploading takes some time since you have to go back in to organize & tag everything.

I love the searching capability on this software. As long as I keep up on the tags on photos, it makes it incredibly easy to find what I am looking for and has literally saved me hours.

The only problem I had was the learning curve on the functionality, and getting used to how the program is run.

General user interface is mostly intuitive for people who don't have experience with DAM systems. The ability to add other custom extensions and customize the various ways to get to the system.

Nachteile

Its expensive and the lack of custom reporting features really poses challenges for business management. There seems to be a high amount of turnover at Canto that can pose difficulties providing a seamless customer service experience.

I like using the keyword search field and the ability to drag and drop photos straight to my desktop.

We do not have the online version so we do not have the ability to search for photos online. We need to be connected our network to access our photo archive.

Canto has made it extremely easy for our reps to have access to all kinds of files including logos, infographics, headers, invitations and so much more.

No bad things to say really! The way it allows you to tag and flag items make it so easy to find when you need them! The layout is extremely easy to navigate as well!

Very few help desk tickets. It works as it should. I am not a daily user of the software, but appreciate that it is stable and not a resource hog.

More "easy start" guidance using advanced features would be nice. I would like our power users to be able to figure this stuff out with less hand holding.

I use Canto to store large images that are produced by our marketing department. I'm able to send them to other employees easily.

I appreciate that Canto has pretty much all of the features I'd want from a DAM tool. And when it became clear that Canto was missing a feature we badly needed for a large implementation, they accelerated the update so that we could take advantage of that new feature. The support is great and the user interface and user experience are top-notch. You can tell it's a well-supported and thought-out product.

Nachteile

We were sold on a specific feature that actually did not exist. I think the main issue is that there is SO much that Canto's digital asset management can do that the account executive thought we needed one thing while we actually needed another. So, make sure to clarify and talk through everything before committing.

We love the simplicity and visual nature of the interface, the ease of use, and value for service/product. The Portals are a fantastic way to filter specific information & assets to our customers. While the main library is our internal hub for all marketing assets.

We haven't found anything we don't love about this software.

Canto is super intuitive and easy to use. We've been able to migrate all of our assets from Dropbox to Canto and have implemented the platform across multiple teams at our organization. We even use it to share assets with some of our customers.

Nachteile

Although I was not involved in the implementation, so this could be different for the team (marketing) that managed that, I felt as if I didn't have a lot of training resources outside of the marketing team.

I love the portals, style guides, facial recognition and asset organization aspect.

It can be hard to navigate and find what you are looking for when it comes to creating portals and style guides.

It has lots of powerful features that make the software very flexible. In general Canto has done a good job making those features readily accessible in the client, which can be difficult. It is also highly extensible with plugins.

Nachteile

Administration, particularly with highly intricate permission models, can be somewhat daunting. It really does require a skilled system administrator with experience with Canto to get the most out of the system.

This system allows for a large amount and variety of files to be uploaded and easily shared. The system is intuitive, easy to manage, and requires little instruction when adding users. Overall a wonderful product!

The simplicity can be missused depending on the user's organizition skills, such as adding too many tags/similar tags/not consistently using tags which can lead to making it harder to keep track of specific documents if the user does not manage the tags correctly.

We have only had this platform for a few months, but love how easy it is to use. It is very intuitive, but training was also provided. I like that I can just type in the type of subject matter I am looking for, and I can see photos, videos, etc. all about that subject. Or, I can narrow it down to a very specific type of file that I need, and get all that are available, too. Also like that I can have a separate URL for members of the media to use, to get access to graphics to go with their stories, rather than having to find everything for them!

The automatic tags that are added to the photos are sometimes not helpful.
