Canto is great if your marketing team are housed in various locations regionally or nationally. The ability to share files, and ideas, makes our marketing team operating on 19 campuses across the state more collaborative and efficient.

The search function works well only if you have taken the time to build robust keywords.

Vorteile

The search function, which is essential for finding just the right photo across multiple collections. The visual display of the collection is also excellent.

Nachteile

Complexity of assigning keywords, for example, you can add multiple keywords when uploading files - which is good - but getting back into the file and then customizing additional keywords becomes tedious. Because of the length of time involved, our person assigned to uploading photos never seems to have enough time to go back into the file, which can limits the results of a search.

I am happy with it, sometimes we do receive technical issues from our customers not able to view their portals

We shoot thousands of photos every game. To have all the photos on one platform that is searchable has saved countless hours sorting through media.

The upload portal can be confusing. Drag and dropping of files can lead to double uploads or uploading into the wrong folder.

It's pretty reliable. I never encountered any major technical issues that prohibited me from completing a task. Some systems it feels like you're on the customer service chat every other day.

Nachteile

I really didn't like the organization or lack thereof nor did I like the way it functions on mobile devices. I was often looking for photos on-the-go and the mobile version was very clunky and often loaded incorrectly. I would have to give up and wait until I got home to figure out the issues.

It takes a while to tag photos. It takes a while to set up and adopt.

When working with a large organization Canto makes it easy to share and organize pictures without ending up with many duplicates of the same file. It is easy for anyone in the group to access and download files of any size including large TIF images.

Downloading pictures via a link sent in an email can take a very long time.

I love that Canto is cloud-based and no integration with our IT department was necessary. Uploading and organizing is super easy and intuitive, as are searches.

Ease of use for all users. Sharing is a breeze. Allowing us to have a simple process when working with Photographers.

Exporting mass file shares to other file types should be available. All master assets should be able to be exported or saved as common file types easily. We don't want dupes and this would be very helpful.

Previously we used to have to handle image requests manually and email customers hosted links to each and every image they needed. Canto has taken that load off our team and saved us so much time. We just have to make sure the library is updated and our customers choose the image they want, at the size they need it. Our workflow is much more efficient!

Nachteile

Permission management is a little complex but I am not the best person to speak on it as I am not the manager of our canto image library.

Wish there was an easier way to carry over duplicate assest names. Sometiems the downloading can be a problem. After a year or so the records i place into the cumulus files are gone.

Asset files removed, no longer found. Wish their was an easier way to pull asset names together for one record

I enjoy how easy it is to organize all your assets and find them easily with the search bar. The portals feature has been extremely valuable for us as well for distributing our assets to our clients.

Nachteile

When you use the search bar, assets don't pop up in order of relevance; they pop up by date. It is impossible to customize the view without using a curated view.

The portals functionality and the value for our money.

I found that this platform was extremely easy to implement to my team. They are hesitant to change and aren't the most tech savvy people but Canto was a great addition to the team.

I wish the search fields were a bit better. I find that i can't easily search and get the results I'm looking for.

Share-ability and how easy it is to learn and navigate. Easy to incorporate teams to manage and upload content.

Some small annoyance in specific functions. Nothing that hinders usability but some things slow down speed a little. An example is how you must deselect any items before switching to a new folder.

The product is scalable, nimble, and highly intuitive. On the rare occasions that we've required support, both the automated responses and the live operators have been friendly, helpful, and knowledgable.

Adding portals eats into your storage allotment. Portals are a great way to divide up different users, but the way Canto decides what counts against your storage count is challenging.

Search features and tagging are great. User permissions are pretty great with lots of different settings.

Upload speeds are terrible for large files. Bulk upload feature barely works. User interface is not intuitive at all. You should make it more like Google Drive interface.

Implementing Canto to the world of university academia was a breeze. The system is made with the end-user in mind so it is very accessible and easily understood. Whether it is uploading and filing research data or sorting out photo albums Canto guides you to making things work systematically.

Improvements would regard a small scale linguistic country which has letters that are difficult to pick up when the automatic text is gathered from a document.

Being in creative and using the software for ad creation and file management has been a life-changer. Being able to crop, resize, and compress images within the platform before downloading is a TIME SAVER. Also being able to layout and customize brand guidelines in such a clean way makes, it that much easier to share with our partners.

Nachteile

There are a LOT of options. Don't get me wrong, it is good to be able to decide which way to organize, tag and manage your images and creative, but it can get a bit overwhelming at times. Specially at the very beginning.

Canto is very easy to use. The folder feature makes it easy to sort through thousands of assets easily.

There are some limitations as far as leaving comments on assets. Would be great to be able to tag other users as well.

Canto is really easy to use. It's a great way to store images. Once the images are tagged and keywords are added, it's very easy to search for specific images within Canto. You can also download the images and resize, crop etc. directly in Canto - this is a great feature. Great to have assets in one place.

It is pretty expensive. However, we are not using all the features that come with it. I could see how the price is justified by all the other features that are available.

Canto solves a problem for us on how to securely store and organize digital assets. I like the customized permissions, portals and customized file structure options. The sharing capabilities are key.

I don't dislike anything about Canto so far. We still have a lot of features to explore, but I would like to see them add new things like better data and stats for portal-specific views.

We started using the two month trial and liked what we got out of it. Canto also seemed more eager to have us as a customer and was more willing to put in effort up front to take us through demos than the alternatives.

I found the formatting and layout of the Canto software very easy to navigate, which is helpful.

I found the use of the two downloading buttons on images to be a bit excessive on Canto. The second pop up window is not necessary; it's just extra steps.

Canto is easy and intuitive to use. My favorite feature is the ability to create public links to content, completely removing the need for FTP or Google Drive experiences with vendors or partners.

As anyone knows, the heavy lifting with any digital asset manager is in the setup. Luckily we had a plan and good partners.

I work for a global nonprofit, so it's amazing to be able to have all our photographic assets from a hundred different projects all over the world in one place. It's especially useful to have the capability to send download and upload links to others in the organization (or our photographers) without having to give them the keys to the entire database.

Nachteile

We have found Canto to be a bit unwieldy and difficult to organize. Many of the functions are less intuitive than we would like.
