They don't have updated options (such as bulk entering multiple receipts/donations at once - for example e-transfers - I get 60 per week and have to enter each one individually). I reached out and that is definitely not something they have or plan to have at this point. They don't release updates for things like payroll until a week or more later than it should be.
They just increased my monthly rate by more than double (55%) without warning. They said the 3 user option we use is no longer available but instead of letting us know that and letting us know we are being grandfathered in at 3 user and the price was "adjusted according to current pricing", we just suddenly get a bill for more than double the amount. That's a huge hit to the budget - especially for a non-profit. They said we could go down to a single user but then we lose the payroll option.
I feel like there is a general lack of concern for their customers and the product usability overall.

We also liked the idea of being able to have multiple users - we only had 2 at the time but now the minimum is 5 with MUCH higher pricing (unless we don't want payroll then we could switch to 1 user)

In addition, the ability to edit previously entered transactions (with some limitations) gives the user confidence that they are not risking making an irreversible entry or at least a complex un-winding process.
The reporting function supplies almost any type of report you can think of with the ability to customize the "out-of-the-box" reports. Comparative financials for year-to-date are easily done (something that NetSuite doesn't do without manipulating the report date ranges manually).
The subscription costs are by seat and represent one of the best values in the accounting software universe.

My biggest problem with QuickBooks in the inability to separate the receipt and billing of inventory. One replaces the other depending on the order of events. So if you want to keep your AP aging true, then you are either going to need to change your date of receipt from the actual to the billing date which can create problems when reconciling inventory, or you will need to manually change the due date.
If you are dealing with multiple related entities (subsidiaries, companies, etc.) and you want financials to be specific to that entity you will most likely need to use separate company files. The user is limited to having two company files open simultaneously and any inter-company transactions will need to be duplicated in both company files.

Also when running in multi-user, there is certianly a need to be careful of the capabilities of anyone allowed to make changes in the books. Granular user controls are ok but take someone very familiar with QB to be confident they are applied in the desired manner. The software can run slowly at times.

Sadly it is a pretty big list. Their support is horrible, their software while it works does have lots of bugs. So as a user you have to really pay attention so that mistakes are not made.

Another big plus is that most accountants know how to use it come tax time (I only need account to do my taxes, I do all of the day to day activity on my own).

Quickbooks keeps trying to "force" you to into a paid subscription model and continued upgrades. The original version I purchased almost 20 years ago would still handle my needs as written back then, but they will "turn off" features to force you to upgrade and each new upgrade trys to squeeze you into a subscription based model, when it is not what I want or my business needs. I paid them once for the software and they should have been enough. I have already had to purchase another 5 versions, not because I wanted new features, to fix a problem or because I had outgrown the original version. Just so they could squeeze more money out of me (I constantly wish I would have start on some other package).

I'm consistently impressed by QB Enterprise's interface. It shows you everything you need for the task you're working on and doesn't ask you to learn little tricks added to the system for aesthetic purposes that get in the way of functionality.

I've found its integration with Microsoft Office to be somewhat unstable. Connecting the software to Outlook for invoicing has not been an easily process even for our IT department, and sometimes it experiences problems exporting reports to Microsoft Excel which require the report to be rerun. But these are minor issues that don't get in the way of my usage of the program.

I use the Manufacturing edition. The inventory management features are fairly easy to use and understand. Reporting is straight forward with summary and detailed financials.

Loss of functionality. First thing they took away was the loan manager. Next was interfacing with with my bank directly for bill pay. Instead they added a third party Melio to administer the bill pay through either paper checks or ACH transfers. ACH transfers work relatively well except for the occasional cancelled payment without explanation. Checks can only be written for one invoice and each check costs $1.50. So, for example, if I have a vendor with net 10th terms and 5 invoices from that vendor over a month's time, then Melio can only write 5 checks all to be delivered on the 10th at a cost of $1.50 per check. They also take my money 10 days before the payment is made effectively floating my cash for 10 days. I know these are complaints about Melio but Intuit made the decision to bring them in and it has been a disaster for me. Quickbooks could care less.

Where do I start? One of the issues that we encounter is every time there is an update, it seems to break the Database Manger. We looked at switching to Quickbooks Online Advanced to make things easier, but it is VERY lacking in comparison. QB Desktop Enterprise, in most cases, is hosted locally. This leads to issues with server and maintenance. The features are very antiquated compared to other online options that are currently available.

This is not a bad program for smaller companies. This is decent for under 10 employees and smaller SKU quantities. Easy to learn and manage for new users. Would be good for most small service companies.

Constant crashing and spending hours on the phone with support. Self "corrupting" company files are the worst. Not an issue with a real ERP system. The accounting basically eventually becomes un-trustable because as you enter data, random stuff corrupts and you cannot fix it without paying a professional to rebuild your entire company file. Awful.

Their system is very easy to understand. What I like best is that their reports are quite comprehensive; you can create all kinds of reports and find all information very clearly.

However, their customer service was not as impressive. Whenever I encountered a problem, there was no one to speak to directly; I could only reach out via email, which wasn't very helpful. Additionally, I faced another issue: I initially had only 10 users but needed to add more. The only available option was to add another 20 users, which ended up being quite pricey since there was no way to add just another 10.

My understanding is that Intuit is planning to discontinue all desktop versions of QuickBooks and switch to online only. I've tried QuickBooks Online and do not like it. Having used QuickBooks/Quicken since the 1980s, with numerous companies, I sincerely hope Intuit reconsiders this action, as it would be tragic and cause me to look elsewhere for accounting software.

Today, Nothing! I am fed up with wasting time on a problem they could have easily fixed.

They have been made aware by numerous customers that after the upgrade to 2023 software we are no longer able to send statements. They stated they "turned off" the customer sort function, so you can no longer choose to generate statements for only customers with a balance. It will generate a statement for EVERY single customer you have, IF you have less than 4500, EVERY time. If , like us, you have been with them for years and years and have more than 4500 customers it just creates an error message and will do nothing. The only option is to scroll through all you thousands of customers and individually select the ones you want to send statements to. It takes a few hours!! It is a simple sort function, that used to take 1 minute for the software to perform. They have been aware of the problem since April of 2023 and have done nothing. They did not fix it in the 2024 Edition either. Customer support just wastes several hours of your time trying things that don't work, and then they "create a support ticket" for you. Mine was created in May of 2023, and still nothing has been done. We pay extra to have Enterprise because we have a huge customer base and so we are forced to purchase Enterprise instead of the cheaper versions, but then they have a glitch that makes a VERY BASIC function, sending out monthly statements, not work. We are tired of waiting for them to fix this and are looking to switch to a different software. It is very frustrating that after being a customer for years and years to have to change accounting programs.

Integrating Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise is needlessly complex - there are no APIs to use, just the old Quickbooks Web Connector. QBWC uses the outdated XML format to receive and send data - to integrate with another system you either need developer skills to create your own web connector file or use a third-party ETL service that will generate one based on your workflow.
