Keeping the channel of communication open is a top priority in this business. We are able to inform and ask questions directly to consultants over large distances. We are able to send pictures and video as needed. We are able to set up people with ease and very easy to use.

Nachteile

I have not tried the accounting aspect of the program but will shortly. If it could tie into the government aspect of the business it would be even more beneficial.

Vorteile

This app is extremely user friendly. Staff and parents are typically able to use it without any instruction. It has saved us to much time and energy in our classrooms. We also rely on the safety features to assist with the new protocol in place since reopening during the pandemic.

Nachteile

Occasionally it will lag and we will need to wait to post/input content. But the Brightwheel team will get it fixed very quickly.

Brightwheel is an amazing app! I had such an amazing time using this app with one of my groups! It’s an easy way to keep in touch with parents, to send assignments and keep everything organized, especially when you are a first time early age teacher like I was.
I was able to send messages and newsletters to my students’ parents, as well as to share the calendar activities with them and having ever single even available for visibility all the time, and most amazingly it allowed me to upload and keep my lesson planning updated.
It doesn’t have a limit in the students neither staff that can be added to the platform. It’s just amazing!

Nothing, I love brightwheel and I still use it with my own after-school and summer camp groups to keep everything organized

I like how the software allows for quick updates throughout the day from the Daycare Provider. It is also an easy access portal for payments. Brightwheel keeps track of all the care provider notes and photos, so you can have an accurate record to look back on all in one spot.

Nachteile

I wish that the update and photo portion allowed for comments or even a thumbs up to show approval, instead of always having to click into the messaging tab and comment there.

Brightwheel is highly enjoyed by my parents. They especially like getting picture updates of their children. I enjoy being able to "text" my parents and get an immediate response without having to call them. It is helpful that they now align with NC state standards and can help me assess my students.

Nachteile

A big problem I have had with brightwheel is using their app to take pictures, my pictures do not get saved and I lose the picture of I go to do anything else. If you want to upload videos, I suggest using the app, because it is very difficult to get any video from your device onto the app. You also can only take a tiny video clip. I would love to have longer videos! I am sad that we can not align brightwheel with Teaching strategies gold.

This app was super easy to use. My son's childcare used it. They switched to another app for a moment, but it was difficult to navigate, so much so, that the daycare switched back to Brightwheel.

I have no complaints with this app. My wife and I loved how easy it was to use.

BILLING BILLING BILLING! Oh my GOSH I really do NOT like the lack of features Brightwheel has overlooked. We are unable to allow parents to pay on the date we agree (you are given two choices 1st or 15th..what about the 5th?), we are unable to bill parents in advance for something like a fundraiser or annual registration so families can pay a little each month, there are a LOT of functions that are not meant for admin, but we are the ones running Brightwheel.

I like that everything is in one place. You can receive real time updates, photos, summaries of what happened at school or even send your child’s teacher a message and get an immediate response.

Nachteile

There isn’t much to dislike about Brightwheel. I suppose it would be nice if you could login from a computer in addition to your phone.

Communication and paperwork are made so much easier with Brightweel. So much time is saved and the trees are breathing a sigh of relief with paperless check in and out. Parents love the clear communication and pictures of their little ones while they are with us.

We only wish it worked offline in the times when our internet is down. We manage to get around it but it can be frustrating.

As both a parent and an administrator it is fantastic. It is so great getting to see a facebook-style feed of my kids day each and every day. On the other side it's so fast and easy to use.

I wish it had a little more features in the realm of employee management, and child management. Examples, a record of staff training, notifications when training is due, notifications when child immunizations are due.

I loved that the parents were immediately notified and the easy of check in/out of students. It seems to keep parents up to date with the ongoings and communication of our center. We enjoy the newly added feature of bulk messaging to all classrooms. Very helpful! Updating the communication strings between parents and staff has also been a much needed welcomed update!

Nachteile

You cannot add pictures of children in multiple classrooms. It will only allow you to select one classroom. When you also mass add something such as a meal, you have to then individually edit it rather than bulk edit - super time consuming. Checking in/out between classrooms when signing takes a long time (speed) is very slow. Parents have requested if there is a way to select certain push notifications such as messages and notes or pictures, but not diapers or meals.

This software makes it extremely easy to communicate with parents throughout the day. You don't have to search for email addresses or phone numbers.

Sometimes I have trouble uploading video because of the size limit. That has been my only difficulty using the software.

The only thing I don't like about the app is when my wife sends the teachers, it doesn't send me her message. It would be nice to see when she sends a message. It only shows when the teachers respond to her.

Customer support is top notch. The video tutorials really helped us learn the ropes.

When I take my child to school I think about her all day. When I started using this app, Provided by the school. My nerves went away quick. The teacher post everyday. What she ate and what the lesson is. She sends pictures or video. Communicating with the staff at her school is so much easier now. Just a message away. My FAVORITE part is being able to get a message when someone picks up your child. Also you can make payments on there to pay for your child support. Easy day.

I cannot say that I have found any shortcomings with Brightwheel. It does not do much, but it does not need to do a million things. It provides a simple yet invaluable service.

Good idea but poorly designed. This app is not ready for the masses. Needs more R&D and T&E. The attendance feature worked well though.

There are about 6 to 8 serious bugs from the staff and admin side. Example: staff has the ability to change a child in another classroom without consulting admin. I also didn't like the fact that staff could send messages, photos, incident reports etc... without consulting admin for approval and there is no alert to admin if a message, photo or report is sent by staff. By far the biggest problem is billing. If a parent decides to pay too much or too little for tuition the app will not carry a balance. They have to pay the exact amount. It is such a simple problem to fix yet it seems they have no interest in doing so. I got the app to save time not to spend 10 minutes on a single transaction. Also if a parent has ACH turned on and you write an invoice there's no turning back. You can write multiple invoices and potentially drain someone's bank acount if they have the ACH turned on. They need a notice that this person has ACH turned on at minimum. Customer service isn't the best either. Everything is IM/ chatting online. That takes about 2 to 3 hours to get a response. If you want to talk on the phone for support, you will have to make an appointment online and they will call you the next day. So if you have a pressing issue or question, you're on your own.

I absolutely love that teachers can send pictures of kids to parents. Especially when the child is having their first school day, it gives a great peace of mind and also helps start conversations at home. Its a great way to increase the connection between school, kids, and parents.

I would have liked and integrated calendar so that we didn't have to look up school events separately. The processing fees are also pretty high, but those are my only complaints.

Brightwheel offers the amazing option for childcare providers to update the parents in real time. I frequently get updates every time my children have a snack, diaper change, eat a meal, play outside, take a nap, etc. It has the functionality for pictures and videos to be sent to the parents throughout the day. It's extremely quick and easy to use, so it only takes a second for parents to be updated about their children.

I actually do not have any complaints about Brightwheel. A slight inconvenience would be that the app redirects you to their website to make your payment, but it's still all completely accessible from your smartphone.

I love the open communication we now have with parents. This is especially helpful when you have a new student and you are able to send pictures of the child playing, having fun, doing art work and answer any parent questions. Parents feel they have a direct line of communication with the teachers without us having to stop classtime.

I would like to see the sign-in program inprove and the billing. But they are constantly updating the app and improving all the functions so I can not complain.

We often use the app to contact all of our parents with a single stroke, for information about their children, closures, field trips to even asking them all for a plumber recommendation when our water tank quit working. Parents willing to help were amazing! So great to be able to let small things like that be known! Parents love the ability to see what their children are doing, eating etc. We have coupled this with watch me grow which is a great marriage.

I'd love to see a start date added to the child's profile, as well as an end date. When clocking our school children it would be nice to be able to do this in a batch, rather than individually.

We use this software for tracking attendance, Doing timesheets, and taking tuition payments. We also use the app for sending updates and pictures to parents feed. We are a small school and it works for our purposes. Whenever we have had an issue, the support team has been quick to respond. The developers are quick to make changes when an issue arises.

Nachteile

It is a bit clunky at times. Sometimes takes a lot of clicks to do a simple task. Also we are closed for 3 months of a year and paying for the service when we aren't using it and don't have income is not ideal.

Also the messaging system for parents to send messages to teachers is terrible. We request our parents don't use that feature at all. It's that bad.

I’ve used three different apps through the two daycares where my son has been enrolled. Brightwheel far an away has the most attractive user interface.

While Brightwheel is the most attractive of all of the childcare apps that I’ve used, it doesn’t offer a ton of features and it’s not always the most intuitive. Other apps that I’ve used have offered parents the ability to message an administrator or teacher; Brightwheel technically only offers the ability to message the child. Teachers may check these messages, but that format can create some confusion if you’re looking to get in touch with an adult. Parents also do not have the ability to upload child profile pictures as in other apps that I’ve used. Only the staff is able to do this.
