Being able to share photos with the parents instantly is wonderful. Also having the option for parents to pay online is very convenient.
I also like how I can just click on a student and print reports out. It helps cut down steps for me in the reporting process.

Being a small non-profit preschool, the monthly fee is a on the expensive side for us. but it's worth it in the eyes of me as a teacher, the board I work with doesn't always see it that way.....but I'm working on them to change their mind :)

I would love to use it for assessment, but was told that we couldn’t because the options available for aligning were not approved by NAEYC, so we are having to use a separate assessment tool.

This is such a great tool to help communication between parents and daycare. Both of my kids are in daycare and the updates that happen throughout the day help put my mind at ease and help me know how their day is going.

I found this to be a great tool! I honestly only have positive feedback. Our newborn was 7 weeks old when he started daycare, and being able to watch how his day was going, communicate with our providers, and see photos made the transition so much easier.

I dropped my 10 month old off at daycare for the first time and I was so nervous. Even though it was a very nice facility, I still worried about him, especially since he was crying when I left. They told me to download Brightwheel but I didn't fully understand what it did. Then, an hour or so into work, I get a notification that my little guy just had a snack. Half an hour later, I get a picture of him playing. They let me know when he took a nap, when his diapers were changed, what he ate, etc. It was amazing! After that first notification, I never got the chance to get worried again; before I could even wonder what he was up to, Brightwheel was sending me a notification with the answer! It brought me so much peace of mind, it was just wonderful. And it keeps me up to date with everything else that goes on at the daycare, since my little one isn't there every day. If there's an outbreak of some illness,new payment options, busted pipe in one of the classrooms, etc, Brightwheel lets me know. Whoever came up with it is brilliant!

Nachteile

I was told to download Brightwheel in conjunction with a video monitoring program. While I didn't have any problem using the video monitoring program, it would have been more convenient to have that option on Brightwheel itself. That way, if the daycare workers are too busy to send as many updates as I would like, I could use Brightwheel to check in on my little one myself. As it happened, the updates were coming so regularly that this wasn't an issue, I can just see it becoming one if the staff gets too busy.

We really like the way this helps us stay organized. We have families and staff check in to track attendance and hours. We use the billing feature which is very well designed. We also like the communication feature for parents and teachers.

Customer support is weak. I think the people want to help, but they are obviously inundated with questions and try to get through them so quickly, they miss things.

It is of enormous assistance when it comes to coordinating children's daily expected routine. It is visually helpful, effortless to navigate, and there are initial learning procedures that are one of the most awesome things I admire about this product.

Its interface can be quite confusing, slightly onboarding, and time-consuming.
Brightwheel app appears to be quite complicated and comprehensive for daily usage, for example, visualize how much duration and endurance it takes an educator to fill out the data of just one kid.

Makes life easier by putting everything in one place. Parents love that they can see what their children are doing during the day and I love that I can invoice parents and they can pay through the app.

I wish that you could edit the payment plans so its due on a different day without having to cancel and create a new plan.

It's FREE. In a business that is non-profit there typically isn't money in the budget for something like this. I love that parents feel more connected to their child during the day. They can check it to see if they are taking a nap (and possibly mentally prepare for a cranky kiddo if they don't nap!) Parents actually take time to read it every day. Paper notes were often just tossed in the garbage without being read. I could really go on and on.

That you can't delete sent or read messages.

Parents can see what their child is accomplishing throughout the day. As a teacher using the software- we attach pictures, updates, and what we are learning in class for students parents. Parents love to see this.

Some parents who are android users could not download Brightwheel. I hope the app will be available to work on more operating systems.

I like how easy it is to communicate with parents about how their child’s day is going and sharing pictures. The program is very intuitive and easy to use, and I’ve never had any trouble figuring out how to access any of the tools or features.

One feature I would like to be available is some way to communicate with other staff. It would be useful to have a way to share information between classrooms to keep everyone in the loop, like with a message board or something similar.

There are so many great things about this software! It’s very easy to get started and user friendly enough to keep using without getting frustrated. We’ve easily trained our staff and parents on how to use the system and love the ability to provide real-time update on each child’s day.

At this point, I am very pleased with the functionality and haven’t yet discovered any cons with my daily use.

As the dad of a 6-year-old daughter, Brightwheel made life easy while my daughter was at the school. Especially during her pre-K class when she just started going to school, Brightwheel's timely update on her activities, learning, lunch, etc. kept me tension-free. Occasional pictures from her teacher got uploaded in Brightwheel -- which were also nice.

When I tried to download some of the pictures her teacher sent me, the resolution of the photos did not turn out to be quite well. This is one sector the software could improve on.

Billing and payments. This has helped me be able to accept payments with ease and having them deposited to my account! I love this and it keeps my families in check with keeping up with payments

The daycare/preschool that we use is using Brightwheel for us to communicate with the teacher. It is very easy to use to send instant message and also send pictures of the children’s activities. When there is an emergency with my kid, the teacher send message and we get notification right away . Throughout the day , teacher also post pictures of the learning and sports activities and give up peace of mind

Brightwheel can improve the reporting side and billing information . The billing information should be added as a report where it shows the payments history and next payment due .

i love brightwheel! I use it to connect with my sons daycare and it is the best thing! I get sad on the days they don't use it as often as normal! It is so wonderful to receive updates on my son as he is playing, eating, and napping. It really helps me as a working mom feel comfortable that I can follow along and be apart of my sons life in this way while he is at school!

I get notifications on that pop up but the app does not have the number that the top icon that shows how many notifications I have so if I miss it on my phone while it's open or on a phone call - I don't know that I have a notification.

Parents being able to see real time what is going on with their child, the ability for the teachers and parents to message each other, not having to use a paper daily sheet for children, tracking the CACFP program, the pictures and videos capturing moments like first steps that you can send to parents, the billing side of it! There are so many wonderful things this software helps you be able to do! And they are always updating and adding new features! Our parents absolutely love it!!

While they are always adding/updating the program, we are still waiting for the lesson plan/learning standards portion to come so that we can start utilizing it immediately as sure that feature will be awesome as well. Another con is while most of the time I love their updates, they have updated the billing a couple times and have taken some features that I really liked and added some that I personally don't care for. However, their billing side is still a great tool!

We used this software with two different daycares and I appreciated that it remembered our child's information from one daycare to the new one even a couple years down the road so we didn't have to set up from scratch.

The software is only as good as the users, so if the daycare provider doesn't always fill in the daily information the software is supposed to list for your child's care, there simply isn't a lot of functionality to the software. One daycare was diligent about noting what was going on and this was a great tool; the other ignored it most days and it was just an inconvenient text message service.

I wish there was a way to streamline data entry, especially when you have children from the same family, where contact information is the same. I would love to see a way to easily add new children to the same family.

1. You cannot approve feeds via the app
2. But you cannot enter daily information via web site.
3. Data mining - reports are very basic.
4. Security features - Teachers have access to data, such as child's personal information, the parents information.
5. Messaging - Admin should be able to send messages to parents and vice versa, and still have some confidentiality. But not direct messaging from parents to the teachers.
6. Deleting entries one by one is a pain. Should have a way to delete multiple entries.
7. Calendar feature not available on the web platform.
8. Editing when a mistake happens (such as AM vs. PM).

It is easy to navigate through once you run a demo or two. Allows staff to report on childrens activities throughout the day and instantly message them important information. Parents can choose to have information qued to their phone as soon as it becomes available from the teacher or check a daily report for quick review. They know when their child last ate, how much, what was offered, diaper changes and toileting, pictures and videos can be shared, and incident reports are shared immediately with parents.

Nothing so far! I have been using it for 7 months. One suggestion would be that calendar events pop up as reminders, sort of like an alarm on a cell phone when you have a calendar event, and staff can help select reminder times so families are well prepared for the event.

Brightwheel has made our communication and attendance so easy. We are able to do roll call, send messages to parents, etc. The most important aspect for me as a teacher is that parents are able to give permission to persons authorized to pick up their child. As teachers we just have to check the child's list of people knowing each person has their own pin for checking out. It's been a life saver!!

At the moment I can not think of anything negative about brightwheel. It's so helpful!!
