cPanel is a great product that makes it extremely easy to manage your own servers, DNS records as well as emails and clients websites. It is an all in one solution to managing both emails and websites as well as the technical aspects through a wonderful interface.

The WHM master control panel also makes it very easy to manage multiple cPanel accounts and functionalities. Furthermore, allowing you to create separate login details for each of your clients to access their own cPanel dashboard for management purposes

Nachteile

The biggest cons with regards to cPanel is that there exists no automatic backup functionality which is a very important feature, single-use licenses can also become extremely expensive. Lastly, the email interface options could also use more work and features to be included.

WHM/cPanel is everything you need to manage your server. Managing server becomes super easy with WHM. It's fast, responsive, easy to use and secure. WHM is packed with tons of features which are required to manage a server. I've been using WHM since 7 or more years and I'm fully satisfied.

Nachteile

Only thing I don't like about WHM/cPanel is it's price. It's way expensive these days.

This is simple to implement and is a standardised piece of software that is regularly used on many hosts, so you know what you can do when logon to a new server - reducing developer / devops learning curve.

It's outdated, it isn't a pleasant UX, it feels like it is buggy, the only documentation isn't great and is community led so it feels like it is awkward or inaccurate. The update process always feels risky, and the methods of implemnting nginx just feel awkward.

The UI is great but still can be improved. It can be complex to use for beginners and can overwhelm you. The File Manager UI is old.

WHM (Web Host Manager) is the very best software to run a small web hosting business. The interface is very simple and easy to understand. The documentation is organized by category, making it easy to find the instructions on how to do any of it's many features. The most common function you will probably use is setting up a new hosting account for a new customer, which it's just a matter of a couple of clicks and then inputting a few form fields.

Nachteile

The system isn't the greatest for medium or larger web hosting companies unless you integrate a third party system like WHMCS. Smaller hosting or web design companies might also want to integrate third party backup solutions , because the backup of cPanel accounts is not as modern for ease of use as one might think. Otherwise, you have to go through each cPanel account, one by one, back them up, and then download the backup.

Easiest to use and don't need deep knowledge of deployment while building and setting up a website on Cpanel. Cpanel enables me to manage all of my business emails in one place with an autoresponder.

I feel difficult to use Cpanel on my mobile. Sometimes I need to operate Cpanel while I am far from the city at that time I face some difficulties using it. All other features are excellent.

Since my first approach to cPanel to handle my client's website back in 2003, the intuitive UI and features allow any user to manage a server in a few minutes. I tried Plesk manager, then moved to Ferozo due as part of my VPS provider policy changes. I have decided to move to another provider with cPanel and all suites, until these dates.

Nachteile

Sometimes I wouldn't say I like the UI for aesthetic reasons but I forget after the essential task over my VPS. It's a perfect tool.

With a few odd exceptions, most things are relatively easy to find within cPanel. Because cPanel is so prevalent in web hosting, learning how to use it once means you can re-use the same skills and knowledge even when moving to many other hosts. Most functionality is straightforward enough that someone with minimal knowledge can find their wat around and make changes if needed.

Nachteile

Some web hosts still use outdated versions of cPanel which are harder to navigate and use. It would be nice if cPanel somehow operated like cloud software where all hosts are automatically using the most up-to-date version. Not sure if that's technically feasible. From the handful of web hosts I've used, I've noticed that often there is functionality in cPanel that is duplicated outside in the web hosts own interface, and as a result changes made to some aspects of a hosting service done within cPanel don't actually do anything. This is frustrating and usually results in a call to my hosts tech support unless the solution is obvious. I wish that those duplicated functions in cPanel would just redirect me to the right place. Some of the language in the platform can be ambiguious, although that said, I'm not a professional dev - just a hobbyist so perhaps with more background knowledge that wouldn't be an issue.

With WHM it is so easy to create a new cPanel account for your customers. Just with the press of a few buttons, they get their username and password which is assigned to their purchased hosting package.
The best part is that this can also be automated so you won't be losing time to some boring tasks like clicking through cluttered UI.
WHM also allows you to monitor your whole server and see load and if there are some errors so you can quickly fix them.
There are lots of quick easy fix remediation available which is quite handy when you host a lot of websites and some go down because of misconfiguration error.
Taking backup of the whole server is no longer a tedious task. With just a few clicks you can take a backup or restore server or just client's websites to the previous state if something goes wrong.

Nachteile

There are no many cons with WHM. If you chose WHM you are good to go with your hosting business. You won't regret it.
But be prepared that it is not easy to setup. The average person could have some problems with the initial setup of WHM but once it is configured properly there should be no problems.
The only problems I experienced are AutoSSL which fails to provision SSL to domains who are pointing to Cloudflare or similar services.

WHM and CPanel are very powerful and with them, it's possible to manage pretty much every aspect of a hosting server without being a systems administrator. There are a lot of extensions available, and as the user base is large it's possible to find solutions to issues online quite easily.

Nachteile

The interface can be confusing and the way that options are grouped does not always make a lot of sense. The documentation often assumes extensive knowledge of systems administration.

What I like the most about cPanel (& WHM) is it's prevalence. Most webhosting clients are already familiar with it, and there's plenty of documentation available, so it makes for a smooth experience for clients and admins alike.

Everything about cPanel is so cool! Like I get so many apps like Softaculous and that helps when it comes to installing or setting up CMS software I am not really familiar with.

I also love the fact that I can set up email accounts directly and get set up instructions for my devices. cPanel is really one of the best!

If i have to choose a simple phrase to describe them, it would be "feature rich". There's nothing you can't accomplish when it comes to managing hosting accounts, in large scale or individually, using these products. It's like a perfect couple that fulfill each other.

cPanel is the ultimate website and email management system. I really like that it is very easy to create new email addresses and access them easily. Hosting new application on new domains or subdomains is fast because you can manage domains, files and everything else. Setting up the PHP requirements for different apps is a must for optimal performance and security.

I primarily use cPanel to access our WordPress installation as well as File Manager, primarily when verifying that "deleting" a plugin has actually deleted all of the associated files and folder. I also make use of the backup/restore feature when things go wrong during configuration. I made use of the DNS Zone access feature in the past when using my web host's DNS servers. In general, I have found cPanel to be a solid graphic UI for my server and WP installation.

We are a small healthcare consulting firm that owns several WordPress websites with different domain names. We use cPanel and WHM to help us manage these websites on a virtual private server (VPS).

When selecting a web hosting software package to use on our VPS, foremost on our list of requirements was ease of use, since none of our team members had much experience or expertise in web hosting. cPanel and WHM were the most straightforward choice because we were familiar with the graphical user interface (GUI) of cPanel (we had experience with it for about 2 years while our websites were on shared hosting) and the GUI was/is user friendly, even for novices. We set up our websites, each with a different cPanel for added security, on WHM easily and quickly - we didn't require any external assistance or training.

Security was also another feature that we prioritized. WHM provides several ways to improve security of the server and therefore our websites, e.g. enabling "Configure Security Policy", disabling shell access, ModSecurity configuration, automatic updates.

Cost of the software. In late 2019, our VPS hosting provider increased our VPS cPanel license fee by $6 per month due to a change in the way cPanel license prices were calculated and how they were sold (changing to an account based license). This fee increase was a little annoying at the time, but we opted to continue using cPanel and WHM because we had been so accustomed to using the software and it had served us well for 10 years. We continue to use cPanel and WHM exclusively for web hosting on our VPS.

When I was new to hosting and server management, cPanel was first among the tools that I used. cPanel is so easy to use that any neophyte with minimalistic knowledge can use it without any hassles. They timely provide UI and icons update. There is a wide variety of plugins like SSL vendors, App installers, Metrics, etc. 3rd party integrations make it very feature-rich. I love DNS records management. It is very easy to search and modify records from their directory.

Nachteile

Apart from lots of features, a few features need some mending. Like the file explorer (File Manager) they have is not very keyboard friendly. Keystrokes should be mapped with the buttons and features. Also, using the old email clients is not much productive. We cannot append the name of the sender in the header. A new email client (except webmail and horde) should be implemented.

Creating email addresses and managing them is super smooth and easygoing.

EasyApache is the best software for me, because I can easily provision different extensions for different PHP versions and then select multiple versions of PHP for each domain. Then I like the fact that we can create feature lists and select which features a customer will have available for his cPanel. Each customer should have only the necessary features and access to different tools. Suspending accounts is really useful when customers don't pay their invoices for a long time and after many warnings. The best of all is the Security Center where I can configure everything, set security policies, Brute force protection and other restrictions. Basically I like that cPanel is always recommending the best and safest option for each feature there is available across cPanel & WHM.

Nachteile

We would prefer the old pricing which wasn't user based, but it's still affordable and very stable as a server software.

cPanel & WHM can be accessed via your web browser to manage website hosting, databases, emails, server side scripts, ftp access, SSL installation, domain configuration and more. You can administer different levels of access for other users as well as reseller accounts.

There is a mobile app available for administrators that are unable to access a desktop/laptop to manage hosting changes.

Nachteile

The software is effective, but does have a few limitations. As of now it is only deployed on Linux servers.

You might find the appeal of the user interface to be more of a personal preference. I prefer the cleaner interface of Plesk. The listed menu style of Plesk control panel is a little more consistent and the appearance feels more modern.

I've used cPanel for most of my web industry career. It's grown more friendly over time and is central to my small business's operations. It is powerful, complete, well-known, and well-supported. I can deploy opensource web apps with ease through Softaculous.

The built-in analytics. I never use them, preferring Google Analytics. They take up disk space through log files, and don't appear to be an optional feature you can turn off.
