The Lightspeed staff support and service is excellent. Lightspeed ensured that I had the right set of products, both software and hardware and followed up with me during the entire process to ensure I was successful in my transition from another POS product.

I highly recommend Lightspeed to anyone looking for a POS solution and an eCommerce solution.

Nachteile

Expensive compared to other solutions, but you get what you pay for....very satisfied!

I came from an older POS system, but in comparison to that, the ability to create and edit products, search and categorize products and general ease of use has been stellar. My staff picked up on it very quickly with no issues at all. The help in transferring over and importing our inventory was smooth and easy. The reporting is also a huge improvement over my previous system.

Nachteile

There are a few quirkly little things that could be better in the search system as well as in creating products. But they are all small items that would mainly just make it better, not so much as a fault.

Easy to use, easy to navigate. Lots of available fields to make analytics a bit easier. Online system insures that software stays updated.

Nachteile

Doesnt handle online sales very well - several back office steps are necessary to adjust the inventory for items sold online. Inventory cost is averaged - no way to change that. Reports arent really designed to be printed - have to download to excel.

Once set up to your requirements, it works very well. Load your products in, and publish to your website.

Setting up the software initially is quite a process. As it works with a large number of industries, it has a huge amount of options.

The software was very easy to use and setup. Extremely user friendly. Our company has used several POS softwares and this transition to LightSpeed was the easiest by a long shot.

I wish the manufacturer sku could be seen within the Puchase Order without having to click into the actual item.

We bought Lightspeed Retail for our shop and bar in London in March. On the surface it all looked perfect for what we needed. Four months on and I'm still undecided as it's still not properly set up yet.

The biggest issue that I have come across so far (and everybody in my opinion should be aware of this before purchasing the wireless printer) is that you have to have the print receipt function on if you want the cash drawer to automatically open after each sale. If you have the 'print receipt' function switched to off then the iPad won't talk to the printer, which won't talk to the cash drawer.
When I asked the support, whether there was a way round this she told me if I don't want to print receipts then I have to open the drawer manually with the key. I just find this incredible! Not only is it a massive waste of paper to have the print feature on all the time, but its a massive security issue for me to have the keys dangling in the drawer all the time.
To me it appears that the star printers are out to make a tidy buck on the till rolls, because I cannot believe that there is not the technology to bypass the the print receipt feature and get the printer talking to the cash drawer without printing the receipt

How to create and add inventory is tedious.
Certain reports are behind a pay wall (Analytics - which in itself is great. But there are aspects of it that should be in Retail in my opinion).
Doesn't auto lock after sale/receipt prints. Which causes the 2 registers to glitch between the to computers which in turn messes up our till if isn't not caught before each sale.

This software makes customer facing sales a breeze! Love how quickly we can process orders. Once we also integrated with Accumula, we were finally able to have Lightspeed integrate with our Quickbooks accounting system as well as our Shopify website. It has saved us a ton of time

I would love it if we could completely move to a full accounting software with Lightspeed that operates like Quickbooks. We cannot pay bills against inventory in our current configuration.

It is open ended and makes integrating with the best of breed add-ons easy. they also bent over backwards migrating my existing data to this software.

It would have been nice if they had an option to remain live if access to the server was down during business hours.

Lightspeed is easy to use, doesn't require a lot of training. Any problems we have encountered have been resolved with future updates and their support team have been a phone call away. It's nice to see they are always looking to better their product.

We have encountered a few problems, mainly with gift card sales and use. these problems seem to get resolved over time with updates.

The BIGGEST negative with this software is there isn’t any registry capabilities! How can you have a POS system for retail without being able to offer customers a bridal registry? Thousands of dollars are being lost every year because of this. If I had any say about it, I would use a different software all because of this.

Tracking inventory, sales, being able to track employee performances. Integrated credit card terminal and shipping software with eCommerce. Easy purchase order creation, being able to do so many different reports as well as creating them for each store and even broken down by register as well. A great customer service company. The customer service is very helpful and will walk you through any problem or situation.

Nachteile

There's only a couple, but most people don't mind yet I'm a little extra computer savvy so I don't like that I can not do our own inventory uploads. Also not being able to upload different pricing levels, and wish there was a way to add notes to inventory adjustments as well as download all the created variables for all customer data.

This retail system does it all! It has been a wonderful experience from the start. The inventory tracking, the invoicing, Quickbooks integration, time clock, rewards program, and the list goes on of all the awesome features! The customer service is top notch, they are always able to help if you have a question or an issue to resolve (which there are not a lot of issues!!). Highly recommend this!

It is simple to use and simple to teach. I have had zero problems teaching new employees on how to use the system in a very short time. That pays for itself.

Separating boxed items seems unnecessarily too complicated. It probably is just me and might be a phone call away, but I just can't seem to get this step correct.

User-friendly, intuitive - very low learning curve, clean, easy to read screens, great reports functionality.

When emailing an order I wish that there were some kind of confirmation sent to my email or that the status would automatically change to from "open" to "ordered". Also, when I am searching through the special order list I would like for it not to automatically go back to the top of the list after every change I make. Sometime I need to make several changes in a row for a particular customer and I would like for my cursor to stay where it is after the change.

I love how easy it is to use! Training new employees has been a breeze when it comes to checking out customers and checking inventory. I love how easy it is to open and close registers, count inventory, and use our reports.

Nachteile

It can be slow! Often times it doesn’t compute with our other system- skyvault. Our counts can get off so fast! So I wish there was a way we could be more on track! We often times are unable to trust light speed and it’s numbers. We have had a few problems also with saving our loyalty customers.

E-commerce inventory is linked to the main store's inventory. So when something sells it is immediately gone from the website.

The e-commerce platform has very limited functionality. The website I had back in 2008 had more functionality than this one does.
You cannot put an item on sale. You can only use a coupon code.
Customer support is very limited. While it is great for the POS side the support for the Ecom side is separate and nowhere near as good.

Allows an easy tracking of sales and inventory. Very simple to use and great reporting features for things like daily sales by product.

I can't really think of anything negative about this software but I do think it's not that easy to setup custom menus, but it's not that important cause it's something you rarely configure. What I would like it's that it let's you setup your own document number sequence and also more languages and better templates for documents. They are missing out on a big international market because of this, there are countries that have some regulations on the receipt number and also they need to add some specific things to their documents, required by their government.

We started using lightseped nearly 4 years ago for our POS. Best decision for the business we have ever made. Everything that was giving us a headache in the past was instantly made easier. We run a bike shop called the Okoboji Expedition Company, and it was perfect. There have been a few hiccups with mac to pc quickbooks integration, but overall, we are very satisfied with how the POS has been working. They also have a lot of integrations for CC processing, and other plug ins that work seamlessly. If you're looking for a new POS system to bring you into the tech world that is now, look no further.

The only complaint we have is that sometimes there are a few issues with the server being slow and the issues with selling products without inventory. If they could just have it create a -1 inventory when we sell something that isnt in, it would cancel out when we do the PO. Maybe sometime soon

If you have a touch screen option, I found setting up the touch screen to be easy. With the current updates, you are allowed to use more colours to identify buttons. Unlike previous POS system I have used it is easy to change the order of the buttons.

Once you have entered your inventory and identified it, it is fairly easy to modify the price of a single item.

Nachteile

Probably the worst pos system I have ever dealt with in my 20 years of customer service. It is nothing but fancy glam over garbage. If you are looking for a POS system that has easy to use pricing matrices, can handle an inventory of 1000 or more items. This is not a pos system for you. If you have a booming etsy store and want to organize your sales. This is the product for you.
Lightspeed is designed for one time clients/customers, it is not designed for repeat customers. It is not designed for to handle work orders, dockets, or to help in the organization of incoming orders. This is purely designed for if the customer orders a sandwich, they receive a sandwich. I would not suggest this for any shop that has any complexities to there business(multiple billing options) or inventory (over 1000 item inventory) or pricing (quantitative pricing).

There are so many reports and trying to learn all the ins and outs requires time, which is not in abundance when you are running a 7 day a week business. It would be great if there were training webinars available, becauser some people, me, learn by doing, not by reading.

I run my POS and ecom with Lightspeed, and I find the system easy to use. The support is top notch! I rarely have to wait on hold, and I get assistance right away. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I appreciate how they are constantly making improvements that help the small business run more efficiently!

I paid for year of Lightspeed Analytics (not cheap!), but found that feature a little hard to use. It may be better for a larger company with multiple locations.

Easy to use, access from anywhere, easy to enter items, fairly intuitive, matrix is good for setting up items with various attributes.

Reporting is very limited!!! Extras are expensive and apparently you'll need them! And the support is the worst. The worst! They'll tell u about downloading items from catalogues or uploading from excel, reality is, its not there and it'll be a ton of work. Oh and if you're buying hardware, they'll negotiate alot. Found out after.
And there's no matrix reporting. So you want to see what you sold of an item or by item, can be done but not easy.

First, Lightspeed is by far the best system out there for retailers. While I have a stack of complaints, they're far superior to others like shopify. However, they claim to cater to small businesses but they lack basic things that we need. Examples include, but are NOT limited to:
1) The ability to mark items as lost or stolen in inventory and reports.
2) The ability to go into the opening count and see what employees counted.
3) The ability to show the original price on the tag, marked off, and the new sale price below. - they suggest you use a pen to cross off the original price and write the sale price by hand.
4) The ability to give customers credit without taking cash.

I sell online for 5 years now and I have tried many different online sales platform. Lightspeed is easy to use and I can finally combine my online sales with my retail sales. Perfect for my inventory management, the software puts all of my products in one location. Great customer service too!

Not much for the moment! It would be great to be able to put an item online with a shipping of 0$ for that item only, I think they are working on it.

It is very easy to learn and straightforward. Love the ease of inventory being added and taken away. Love that it automatically adds inventory for items that are labeled at 0. This is something my current software does not do and it is very time consuming to have to change the quantity before you can process the sale.

Needs more user friendly tutorials for starting out. We had a lot of issues right at the beginning. The Gift Certificate's are very confusing.

From my first call 8 months ago every person I have spoken with has been so helpful. This may sound like an over exaggeration, but it's the honest truth. From Jason in sales to Jared as my account handler, every one has listened and helped me with a happy attitude and friendly sense of humor. Calls are answered in a timely manner and you never get the "run around" Every person knows what they are doing. I have never worked with a company so well trained and with employees that talk over the phone with a smile on their face!

On my last phone call to Lightspeed, I was thinking it would be nice to have one point of contact who knew my account...and me because I was calling with a concern about a partner company they work with. I wanted someone who knows me and knows I don't complain. Well Jared (The young man (yes I swear they are all young!)was he. You see, I have taken much longer opening than I though I would and just hadn't gotten to that point yet. So with that said, so far I haven't found anything I don't like. I am looking forward to working with Jared who not only validated my concern, but helped me with another company and my issue was handled by the end of the day.
