Very Robust Solution

Very good! Pre planning is critical to getting the most out of Lightspeed POS. The ability to expand into other modules is a great option to have.

Vorteile

Very good user interface with lots of custom style features. The abiltiy to streamline the order process for food service is a great feature along with the amount of detail down to the ingredients used. Laying out the restaurant in the software by shift is a great feature.

Nachteile

Has a learning curve and takes time working with the software to understand how to do certain things. Prepaing for the setup and install can take some time.

Almost satisfied

I opted to go all out with Loyalty, Payments, Analytics, etc so that I'm dealing with less vendors, because in the past with any integrations etc the blame gets shoved to the other vendor when something isn't working

Happy new Lightspeed customer

The whole team at Lightspeed has been really wonderful to work with. I'm really happy that we chose to go with them for our retail POS and eCom. Our reps and points of contact were really wonderful to work with. They were friendly, knowledgeable, super on top of emails, and have done everything in their power to get our shop set up for success. Because Lightspeed doesn't have personal emails for techs, our rep was great to have on the inside and could help relay messages or assist with answering questions on the fly.

Throughout our buildouts of both Retail and eCom, we've had really great experiences with everyone that supported us along the way!

Vorteile

We have only been using Lightspeed for a short time. We switched from a very old POS system, and the LS team helped up a lot in transferring our information over. We love that the Retail platform is completely integrated with the eCom platform. That cuts down on half the workload! The interface is super easy to use and easy to train staff on. I also appreciate the online training modules available so that staff can learn at their own pace.

Nachteile

It would be great if there was a 24-hour chat option available on eCom. There is a 24-hour customer service line available, but sometimes there is a long wait before getting connected to a tech. I did appreciate the call-back feature so that I didn't need to wait on hold the whole time.

Lightspeed was the right choice for growing my small business

One of the main reasons I am happy with LS is because I feel that my business is going to continue to grow and that LS can support that growth. There is nothing worse than setting up and online store and then deciding that you should be using a different platform and having to start over again. I think LS is a platform that is worth committing to and growing your business with.

Vorteile

Having no prior experience in Ecom or POS systems I am very happy with how easy LS is to use. I feel like I am learning at a rapid rate and building knowledge that will help me grow my current and future brick and mortar and online stores. LS makes me feel like my business will continue to grow and that I will continue to gain knowledge on how to run a small business. The support is fantastic, they are patient and very helpful when it comes to explaining how it all works. I am now able to maintan my Ecom without a web designer.

Nachteile

Sometimes the ecom templates feel limited and I don't like that you have to pay monthly to upgrade them. There is no LS app for Android.

Amatuer Hour

There purchasing orders need work. If your a store that deals many orders like a convenience, grocery, liquor store etc. This system is not for you. It's unable to track inventory correctly unless your receive the order immediately before it's out on your shelves. The inventory is unable to go negative which makes it a huge hassle to double check inventory constantly. Your restricted to only a couple credir card processors. There are a couple more cloud based systems on the market around the same price range that have been more stable over the years. I would stay away they may be going bankrupt since they all the customers will be switching after this year because of the performance issues of being down so often

I've had the system for a little over a year now and it has had glitches at least 10 times to where it is unusable and you have to go cash only. Point of Sale systems cannot have that many issues in one year. It's unacceptable.

Online store for anybody

Amazing! 10/10

Vorteile

We use the e-com and it's great. It's affordable, very easy and accessible to anybody.
The themes are versatile and we can change lay outs at anytime. Our plan allows us to publish in 3 languages, and it's very easy the set up. Integration with SEO makes our work more efficient as well.
We used the support team several times during the set up, and every time they were very supportive. 10/10

Nachteile

Nothing really. I did have a free trial period with a leading competition company, and Lightspeed is much easier the set up.

Works at Lightspeed

Vorteile

So helpful as I'm scaling my bakery business. I like focusing on making nice cupcakes and not on all of the techy stuff.

Nachteile

It was hard for me to get going with the software but the support team was really helpful. Thanks a billion!

Lightspeed POS Review

The greatest aspect of Lightspeed has to be their customer service. I've made probably 30 calls over the past 4 years and have always dealt with people who could solve my problems fast and effieciently!

Vorteile

The Lightspeed software is very easy to learn. I'm not very tech savvy at all, but after a week or two I felt very comfortable with almost all aspects of the program.

Nachteile

The only negative would be, I live in Newfoundland, we have lots of storms and the power goes out frequently. I do sometimes have to call after outages to sync my ipad with my receipt printer. This probably happens with all POS systems, I've just only ever used lightspeed for my business.

POS for small restaurant cafe

Vorteile

It is easy to modify the menu on the fly from your smart phone. Reports are top notch and easy to understand. User management is easy and efficient.

There are no major cons for this POS as we use it.

Simple, straight-forward POS

I have used quite a few POS systems, none had ever been as easy to learn and continually use as Lightspeed is. They offer linking to our company-specific rewards program which is great for business and great for our customers. Lastly, on Lightspeed, I am able to access all kinds of statistics and metrics companywide, such as employee performance, sales per location, overall sales, profit margin, etc. Overall the best POS I have used to date.

Easy to learn, understand, and use daily, additional features allow company specific rewards programs to be linked to your account, access to metrics and company sales/profit statistics

Nachteile

When there are server or system crashes - but they do resolve them fairly quickly

Outstanding POS system!

Great company and awesome software. Every software system will have plenty of ups and downs but for the money, this is as close to perfect as possible!

REGRETFULL, and expensive because now I'm looking to change to something else

IOS software, wanted to switch to iPads and mini iPads and also the idea of the cloud was interesting .

Nachteile

20 years in business with multiple locations and decided to try lightspeed at one of my restaurants because i consider myself an apple guy.
Worst decision i ever made, for the most part i got the worst dealer ever, where they don't know what they are selling, most of the issues i have had to resolve myself by calling the company direct, and that sometimes is a challenge as well. A year and half later and the system is still not doing what my old system used to do, not able to print certain reports, most nights can't close out the credit cards( most times i pray that i will be able to do it ).
if you own a restaurant this is not a system for you!!!!! simple retail I'm sure its fine, but busy restaurant its just to able to handle all the customization needed.
RESTAURANTS PLEASE DO NOT USE LIGHTSPEED, YOU WILL REGRET IT IF YOU DO.

GLAD WITH OUR CHOICE

We solved our inventory issues with this new system. We were also able to sync our eCommerce site with this system.

Vorteile

The team made this transition from our old system a breeze. They normally state 10-14 days, but it took 2-3 days for the information to be transferred over and set up. We were also able to be included on the new Loyalty system and we transferred our existing customers to this system as well. The new system was very user friendly, our employees are now able to make sales and quote customers. We also were able to install another app to have real time inventory reduced from our eCommerce site.

Nachteile

I wish that we could have employee scheduling integrated in the system.

Vraiment un plus Value!

Ce système a vraiment simplifié mes opérations de vente au détail et ma compatbilité. Que dire de la prise d'inventaire? Un pur bonheur. Ce qui me prennait des heures à étiquetter ne me prends que quelques minutes maintenant. Je suis vraiment heureux. Comme tout n'est pas parfait, qques petits bogues d'imprimante, de disposition et de langue mais rien de majeur. C'est un logiciel qui n'a pas fait augmenté mes ventes mais m'a rendu plus efficace donc, s'est avéré rentable!

Vorteile

Facile à utiliser, vraiment bien pensé pour les magasins de vélo. capricieux sur les logiciels et appareils compatbiles.

Nachteile

Un peu trop optimisé pour les shops de vélos. Dans le cas de prise de rendez-vous, ça nous semble moins évident.

Perfect for our small bistro

We've started our business, almost 2 years ago.Opening a restaurant was far more complex than anticipated. It was a new experience for us. In the food industry everything goes so fast. We are glad that we chose Lightspeed POS for restaurant. It suits our needs and is user friendly.

Vorteile

The software is easy to use. At the beginning we use quite a lot the technical support and always received a great service. Our employees quickly learned how to use the system and enjoy how efficient it is.
Employee time tracking is also very easy; they punch directly on the ipad. No more waste of time compiling timesheets.

Nachteile

When we started using the software, it was hard to go back to a bill and add an item if one of the other customer sitting at the same table had already paid. The problem have been addressed.

Excellent customer support, functionality and reporting.

Personal and professional. The POS, back end is very intuitive and easy to learn to use. Reporting features are easy to follow and read.

Vorteile

The assistance with the onboarding. Very easy to migrate SKUS, inventory count in to.
The customer support was 100% never long wait times and the reps would walk you through step by step.
The follow up from Lightspeed, they want to know that you are 100% satisfied.
The easy of setting up, Lightspeed has many how tos, webinars and one on one sessions to help you through all of the set up.

Nachteile

Nothing really stands out as a con. We have had the software 7 months and so far it has been very good. I am looking forward to a mobile app if they every develop one.

Buyer Beware

A company should be judged not when we things go as expected, but when things go wrong and this company will stop at nothing to avoid fault.

When I contacted sales, I was very clear (via email and phone) that I would purchase the system ONLY if it had integration to my PMS. I was assured by sales that it would and I signed my agreement and wired funds for software, hardware, and installation (including a $348 fee for integration to the PMS).

When we were ready to launch I learned, from the PMS provider, there was no short-term plan, or possibly ever, for an integration between the two systems.

At this point, I needed to get my restaurant open and in desperation began to source a new PMS that had a current integration with Lightspeed. I found such and was willing to switch PMS providers (not an easy task for any hotelier) but asked them to pay the small direct cost of transferring data and extend my service agreement the five months that I had not been able to use the system. It was at this point that their "Customer Success" team got involved. They circled the wagons around the sales team and said that they never promised an integration, but would break with "policy" and 'give' me three months of additional service. It was at this point that I knew I could never work with this company and asked for a complete refund, which they have refused.

In nearly 30 years of dealing with vendors, I have never met a company so shameless in their business practices. Buyer beware.

Exceptional Product

The POS allows me to run my small business effortlessly. The software is user friendly on all levels.

Vorteile

Lightspeed is easy for all employees to use. The process to open and close register, the numerous reports that offer great business in site and off site access are all great reasons why I recommend this cloud base retail software.

Nachteile

The refund screen is unusual. It is very different that I have had in the passed retail software that I have used. And I have use a lot over my 25 years in retail sales.

Lightspeed is the way to go!

Lightspeed's customer support is top notch! Any time we have a question or an issue, they can be reached immediately and handle the issue in a timely manner.

Vorteile

The software is reasonably priced and very user friendly.

Nachteile

Being an independent retail wine shop, we have a very limited budget. We would like to obtain the analytics component in additional to our current plan, however it is not in our means.

Great for Bicycle Shops and More

Having a professional platform like Lightspeed bring efficiency and capacity to the back end of any business. It's easy for new staff to pick up and powerful for the seasoned employee to dig deep into.

Vorteile

Lightspeed organizes all of my daily business needs in one cloud-based website with customization formats to make it work perfectly for my bike shop's needs. From daily work orders to placing orders, making reports, and tracking numbers this program rocks!

Nachteile

I wish Lightspeed had the capacity to manage my bike rental fleet. I also wish there was a timer on work orders so mechanics could keep track of their work duration.

Excellent POS for Mac users: we are a retail store

Inventory control, purchasing, calculating monthly sales tax, reviewing product histories, creating customer lists.

Vorteile

We can now track our order requests, simplifying our purchase order process; we can review our best sellers, and create necessary reports fairly quickly with the ability to filter the fields we need. The support team is awesome and are very willing to work with us to fix any issues that often are user created.

Nachteile

We've experienced some bugs in the software, but updates keep coming through which correct most of them. The user manual can be cumbersome at times but with persistence we usually can find the answers we need. I wish there were a way to automatically put in zip codes when an address is put into a customer card; also wish there was a prompt for a duplicate address.

Still the Best!

Really phenomenal customer service and the best retail/service platform for bike shops I have ever seen. There a re also many helpful videos available for common useage and interface questions.

Vorteile

Excellent interface with my vendors, easy purchase order templates. Lightspeed also has a really solid platform for repairs/bicycle work orders. It allows me to write accurate quotes and manage all aspects of my business from one place.

Nachteile

The inventory search function in the can be cumbersome. You need to take caution when categorizing inventory to be referenced and found more easily. The more tags you use the better.

Added third party processing fee even when we are not intgrated

They added third party merchant payment fee, even when you are not integrated to Moneris or any of their payment systems

I discovered LightSpeed a little over a year ago while researching eCommerce platforms. I downloaded the demo and was quickly impressed with the depth of the workflows and system integration with both mobile devices, eCommerce and multi-store capabilities. I decided to take a deeper look, attended a certification camp and eventually became a LightSpeed Reseller. For the last year, I've built a business based completely on providing LightSpeed oriented point-of-sale services. Our clients are drawn to LightSpeed as total business solution that just works. The interface is clean, intuitive, easy to navigate and provides everything you would expect from Mac based software. Looks and feel aside, the true value of LightSpeed are the integrated workflows that allow businesses a great deal of control. Bottom line, response from our clients is that LightSpeed saves them time and money.

LightSpeed isn't the perfect platform for every business, but it's a great platform for most. It provides a open API and their eCommerce component is open source, so with the help of a great reseller and/or developer LightSpeed is highly customizable, which makes it's a very flexible platform to use as your business grows. LightSpeed offers excellent customer support and their senior staff works very closely with the reseller network to ensure end users are receiving quality services that meet their standards. Compared to other systems such as Quickbooks, MicroBiz and Retail Pro, LightSpeed is a definite step up. With that said, there are minor quirks that can be found in the software depending on your type of business. These are not bugs, just features that need a little more polish and attention.

The stability of LightSpeed and the organization as a whole is what convinced us to build a business around the software. While a lot of resellers sell multiple POS systems, we believe completely in just one. The demo is free and there are talend resellers all across the country. If you are serious about finding a next generation POS system, LightSpeed is a definite choice.

Great POS System

This is great program to do a lot of things as once, I highly recommend it!

Vorteile

It is easy to use once you play around with the features a bit. I like that I am able to pull up inventory from not only my store but from stores all over the country. It helps us get the products customers want to them. I also like that we are able to check in inventory on the same system, not syncing with another program. It also serves as a customer database.

Nachteile

One thing that I do not like about this system is that if I am logged in to both computers at once, sometimes it will cause issues during the payment process and will show as a payment made on both registers which can have an affect on the closing/opening till numbers, but it automatically logs users out and requires their pin to be reentered so this does not happen often only sometimes when we are busy and using both to check people out.

Ideal for retail apparel & manufacturing company

Inventory and customer management were the big game changes for us, before this we had many decentralized systems that didn't talk to each other.

Vorteile

Great all-in-one system for sales, employee and customer management, gift cards, inventory, purchase orders, and more! Exporting to Quickbooks is a breeze.

Nachteile

They have great basic reports, but you have to pay more for more detail analytics reports.

BRILLIANT

The staff were so willing to help and made it very easy for us to transition from the old lightspeed system to Lightspeed retail. There follow support was amazing as well.

Vorteile

We love that it is fast to use when you have a customer in front of you.
It is fast and simple to load now stock and create new stock
I has fantastic reports that you can do daily, weekly and monthly.
Most of all I love that it can be access remotely, our bookkeeper works of site and she is about to view the system live, it is brilliant.

Nachteile

We upgrade from the old lightspeed system so we only have positive feedback.

Wonderful solution to solve our inventory nightmare

I use lightspeed to run my warehouse and 2 retail locations. The training was great for my staff as they are able to figure out rather complex process without knowing anything technical. We don't have to guess about inventory anymore with analytics as well. Highly recommended.

Nachteile

on the pricey side. The basic monthly cost is acceptable, but once you add customer royalty , analytics, etc... the price came up quite a bit.

Worth Every Penny

Overall we love this software. It makes everything dealing with our inventory a breeze.

Vorteile

I love this product. We could not run our business without it. One of the best features is when I get an order in from a distributer and it puts it right into my inventory. I just have to make sure we actually got that product and its ready to go.

Nachteile

One major thing I wish this software was better at was an online presence. I run my online store through another company and it links with my inventory to show my customers if something is in stock. Just something to be aware of.

Lightspeed Retail Review

Lightspeed has helped us with our reporting, inventory management, and accounting tremendously.

Vorteile

Lightspeed is very user friendly. We use it daily at our Gift Shop with no problems. Any time we ever have questions our account manager, representative, is always there to help and answer all our questions. What I love MOST is that it makes reporting and taxes so much easier.

Nachteile

We don't have any complaints with Lightspeed.

Perfect all round solution for building and running an ecom store.

Vorteile

We have been using Lightspeed eCom for just over a month now. Aside from an initial issue with the configuration of our account, we have been extremely pleased with both the robustness of the platform and the customer service.

We migrated from BigCommerce where the customer support was non-existent, the technology consistently full of bugs and where they focus more of their time on their marketing puffery, than actually providing a product that delivers for customers.

Some of the pro's with Lightspeed include:

- Feature rich platform that does not require handfuls of apps to get basic functionality (like Shopify does).
- Blisteringly fast page load times that puts our site in the top 30% of sites for load times.
- Extensive selection of quality themes with functionality like customer accounts, and support tickets, quotes and marketing.
- Highly customizable with a back office that is well organized to locate and work with areas you need.
- Customer service, customer service, customer service! With Shopify the wait times are extended unless you are a Shopify Plus customer. With BigCommerce, you're lucky if they can resolve an issue on the first contact and oftentimes you will wait weeks for a reply, but with Lightspeed, every single interaction I have had with their support team for technical concerns has been resolved on the first call and some of these issues have been complex.

Nachteile

Make sure that you wait to speak with a sales rep before building out your ecom store. If you plan to use POS too, they will need to provision you with a new account.

Lightspeed is awesome!

Vorteile

-Easy & quick set-up with the help of Lightspeed tech support! I love that they can screen share with me and set up all my receipt and barcode printers for me to save me the headache of figuring it out myself.
-Inventory management is perfect for the needs of my small retail boutique. I use the matrix function to easily keep track of size and color options.
-All of the basic reports included allow me to view my sales and inventory from many different angles.

Nachteile

-The only small thing I can think of that would save me time is if there were a space while creating a matrix to fill in a manufacture's SKU, rather than only being able to add it to individual items once they are created.

Great POS for Independent Retailers

As an independent pet supply store, Lightspeed has been a near perfect solution for our inventory and POS needs. We opened our first store just over 2 years ago and our second store 2 months ago and the expansion was very smooth. Lightspeed makes it very easy to track the performance, sales, and inventory of both stores.

Vorteile

Ease of use. Excellent multi-store functionality. Great inventory and sales reports.

Nachteile

We have occasional issues with our scanner and card processor. Not sure if this is actually a Lightspeed problem, but the inconvenience has been minimal.

FamilyLife - POS Administrator

I am very impressed with the excellence in the Customer Service assistance I have always received from LightSpeed. Whether the need is from our Account Executive, Billing Representative, Tech Support. . . they are always ready and willing to assist or answer my questions.
I also appreciate the way LightSpeed notifies their customers of upcoming updates & issues that are being investigated and completed or resolved.

Vorteile

I appreciate the ease of set-up and making the many necessary changes. . e.g. tax rates, shop names, the various aspects of inventory, etc.
The options for the many different reports meet all of our needs and more.

Nachteile

Due to the very unique situation we have with so many shops changing weekly, the only thing I really wish was easier is to have the ability to add inventory to all shops simultaneously.

POS for New Restaurant Owners

Never had a system this advanced before. I keep trying to implement more features to benefit the daily running of our restaurant.

Vorteile

Easy to use and set-up. Customer support is great. You are always talking to a real person and they always answer your questions or solve your problems.

Nachteile

There have been a few bugs every now and again. I would have liked some more one on one time when setting up our system.

E-commerce Set up

Before I had CSR help me with my ecom site I just didn't do it. I actually wanted to cancel it and took a fit. After CSR started helping me set up my site I was so relived. I look forward to our weekly sessions and he makes the process fun and creative and explains the more difficult things so I can understand it. I now see progress on a weekly basis and I don't dread doing the work, I enjoy it. It's still a tedious job, but a lot easier with CSR's help.

Vorteile

I really like that it is connected to the retail inventory. It makes it easy to manage products.

Nachteile

I found E-commerce complicated before I got some help with customer service.

Amazing ease of use is the best feature of this product interface. if some one is involved in the process of setting this thing up then you might rock the floor on a busy night also.

Intuitive Pos and Great Functionality

At The Bar Boss, Lightspeed enables easy functionality in our bar. It's the best PoS, that we have encountered. Fast and reliable, I can make a change in the back end and it is immediately recognized in our front end. Lightspeed's customer service is on point. They are an email, call or chat away. I got quick responses from their support staff whenever, I needed them. I'm able to view different reports, make different products and product categories, combos etc.

Nachteile

Add-ons are a bit costly. Wish the software came with at least accounting built in for a year.

A awesome server based system finally gave me to tools i need to run my store from anywhere.

I am not a tech savvy person at all nor is my staff and this system has been a breeze to use and teach. I had battles with two other systems before finding Lightspeed both were the same price and were absolutely awful one of them we referred to Rube Goldberg because the multiple steps it took to do the simplest of task definitely an awesome easy system that has everything I have needed for my business and a competitive price.

Vorteile

The ability to access my pos system from anywhere is awesome but this product really shines in the category set up and reporting features that really allows you to track sales for an individual item, or any group of items you wish. Also, the catalog importing for new Items is a major time saver.

Nachteile

some of the default pricing is a little annoying but easy enough to fix. I have had trouble with importing and exporting POs but usually, that can be fixed if you use Firefox as the web browser. I am personally just a crome fan my self.

Easy straight forward POS

Support team is very quick to access when running into issues or when we have questions.

Vorteile

I love how easy and practical it is.

That the analytics is an extra purchase and not part of the main software.

Why lightspeed?

Bringing organization and time back, where in the past things would start organized than, fall apart.

Vorteile

Lightspeed pos system is the 1-2 punch that a business needs to organize and stay ahead of the game. From reports so detailed to absolutely fantastic customer support you will truly see the value you the system once to dive in. Business moves so fast in this day and age so I live by the motto “evolve or dissolve”. With lightspeed I’m confident with my inventory, reporting and 24 hour support! *special note, if you are blessed by having CSRs handle your lightspeed acct you will be extremely happy with the level of patience and commitment they have for making lightspeed the one and only choice!

Nachteile

Only con I have with lightspeed is that I did not discover it sooner!

Does exactly what it's meant to do

Lightspeed as a POS for retail is great. When I started my position they were using a server based POS system which didn't work for the growth of the business to Amazon, Ebay and our two Shopify stores. I absolutely love lightspeed - they have great customer service and I know that if anything happens it will be fixed quickly. Highly recommend!

Nachteile

The one thing I wish this product would do is be able to run the custom fields we have in a report.

Best POS system!

Anytime I have any questions or need something resolved the support is amazing!! Our inventory management is spot on and it is very easy to utilize the customer loyalty program we have. Very user friendly for all ages.

Vorteile

Ease of use, very easy to set up on the back end, great add on's (Loyalty program), ecom is very easy to set up. Able to pull up sales or reports from my phone anytime. Great inventory management very easy to check in merchandise and take inventory.

Nachteile

The breakdown on the sales receipt so it is easier for the customer to read.
