Great value

Can't imagine my store running without Lightspeed. My profitability has increased dramatically.

Lightspeed works.... and it works well!

Vorteile

We've been using Lightspeed at our bicycle shop for a little over 7 years. It's ease of use and the myriad features specific to our business needs make everything from scheduling repair service, inventory control and sales easy and seamless. Thanks!

Pretty good iPad POS

Vorteile

I don't have much experience with other POS's, but this one seems to have all the features I need it.

Price is fair, and system is sufficiently flexible.

Support is available on phone and tickets.

Constantly improving

Nachteile

Would be nice to have more reports. The basic ones are not details enough. Even just a bunch of CSV reports would be nice.

Interface could be prettier, especially on the backend. Everything is edited through tiny windows.

From Revel to Lightspeed

Very good!

Vorteile

Ease of learning. the support through my learning process was great- I can schedule as many 1/1 training sessions as I need and no-one gets cranky about it

Nachteile

A little slow with credit transaction on the retail POS through a IPAD. Really can't think of anything else.

So easy to use

Vorteile

Lightspeed is so easy to use, it's very user friendly. I am very much in a tourist town so I am hiring summer help every year and showing new employees is so easy.

Nachteile

I wish there was a way to email an invoice to someone and have them be able to pay it online. Seems like all other systems can do that.

Our service has been amazing

I've had to contact support numerous times over the past 2 years we've been using the service and most of the time I've gotten very clear and easy to understand answers that actually solve my problems. I would also like to give a huge shout out to my account manager CSR, without him bending over backward for us we may have moved to a different platform.

Vorteile

Our account manager CSR is honestly a blessing. The POS has a ton of bells and whistles that any retail store would need.

Nachteile

The points system isn't as integrated as it is advertised.

My lightspeed experience.

Vorteile

The thing I love the most about lightspeed is it's flexibility. When I'm in the middle of service, everything has to efficient. Moving items around and splitting them has to be intuitive and fixing mistakes has to be simple. Lightspeed satisfies all these things.

Nachteile

The only negative thing that can be said about lightspeed is a problem that is common with any piece of of software. Lagging. In 10 years of working in the service industry every software I have used has had problems with lag.

Great Product & Incredible Customer Service

Extremely long to set up

Poor service.

Vorteile

Nothing so far. I thought it would streamline my operation. It hasn’t.

Nachteile

I purchased over a month ago. Product arrived quickly. It has to be entirely set up by the user, which is fine, but to do anything you have to attend a webinar for each block. I’ve offered to watch recordings, to speed things up, which I did for 2 blocks, now I have to keep waiting for the next webinar. One for reports, one for using it, one to program it, one for loyalty and that’s as far I am so far. Who knows how many more there are. The problem is, there’s only someone available for the webinar once a week. It’s ridiculous. At this rate it will be next year before in using it. I’m being charged the monthly fee besides. My emails regarding the fee I’m paying for services I’m not even using yet go unanswered. Wish I had gone with touch bistro 😕. I still might.

Super easy to use

overall a very easy platform to learn and get accustomed to.

We use lightspeed to track our sales in the stores. super easy to use and check in to see how things are going throughout the day.

Nachteile

if too many people are on it at the same time the platform can be very slow. our company has 40 stores and if everyone is on at the same time you can tell

Keep it simple !

Vorteile

It's very simple to do transactions and rapports. You don't need 24 hours of formation to make rapports

Nachteile

But the software can be more flexible for the format of the printable invoice and specially on the work order

3 year happy customer!

Vorteile

Once you learn the POS system, it's great. We have had a few hiccups along the way, which I am sure happens when integrating any new POS system. The customer service has been great for us and usually if the question isn't answered right away, it tends to be solved in a timely manner from higher up. They have never left me hanging and if it has been an issue they can't solve because it is outside of Lightspeeds' realm of service, they always have advice in what the potential problem could be and how to address it with a local IT guy. I like the intelligence and reporting of the program. All in all a great system.

Nachteile

We don't have access to a rep or anyone to train us on the system, so I spent countless hours on learning the system, which in the end was a good thing to force me to really understand the program. I do have to say the tutorials were a great help.

Bike Shop System

We use Lightspeed to help run everything for our bike shop. It has been easy to work with and learn on the fly. Customer service has been easy as well.

Vorteile

This system is very easy to use as a POS, inventory management, and schedule work orders for the shop.

Very user-friendly

Popcorn Pawz is a pet store offering only holistic food for cats and dogs. We also offer grooming services. We were previously using a Windows based POS system. As the company expanded into a second location, we started looking at a Mac based POS that would give us the security of a Mac OS, the flexibility to expand into more locations, utilize mobile checkouts, and eventually integrate a webstore. Lightspeed was the only Mac based POS to fit all of our requirements. There are many features within Lightspeed, which can be implemented in various retail and service environments. Popcorn Pawz currently has 2 retail locations and a webstore. It does take time to learn all the features and determine the best way to utilize these features to fit your specific business needs. Customer service wait times can be long during peak times, but 90% of customer support reps are extremely knowledge about the software and can answer your questions directly.

Like any out of the box solution, Lightspeed isn't perfect, but the company is constantly adding new features such as an iPad app. Lightspeed is a reasonably priced software that allows small retailers to offer big box features such as multi-store gift cards and returns. There are some missing features of Lightspeed such as an easy way to run a sale, a built in loyalty program, a sales dashboard, a webstore product review system. Many of these features are available through Lightspeed resellers as a Lightspeed add-on, but it would be nice to see these features built in to Lightspeed. I am confident that Lightspeed will continue to add innovative features to it's software to allow retailers to stay competitive in an ever changing retail environment.

Vorteile

Better than Micros POS

Vorteile

This software is easy to use, build, make changes, and visible.

Nachteile

Make sure you have great internet connects.

It keep dropping and IP address sometimes changes.

Inference between Oracle PMS and POS is not that good. We can not finalize checks that more than 1 payment type.

Works well for small business

Vorteile

If you don't have thousands set aside for a custom point of sale, this will do. It does a lot more than we know how to use. They have pretty much 24/7 support and always strive to help. System has gone down a few times, I'd say once every 4-6 weeks which causes us to use a back up register. The good news is that it's on a cloud and you dont have to worry about a thing if your computer breaks, just login in from another one.

Nachteile

Had issues with their recommended credit card processor. They are always trying to upsell us to another product that is not proven yet (their rewards program, credit card processor, etc)

Help! I wish i knew a better system, I have lost Thousand with Lightspeed and they do not care.

System goes down, they do not answer the phone. We are in California, beautiful weather and they blame it on the weather back east. I purchased lightspeed for the mainly because of inventory, customer and accounting and it does not give or keep accurate information. I call lightspeed and they have no idea.

Vorteile

I like the fact lightspeed has a Gift card System, but it is not that good.

Nachteile

Long Hold times when you need them.
Customer Service has to always ask the supervisor, or put in a request.
Customer data base just disappears.

UNRELIABLE Riddled with service outages

Offers a lot of different features such as lay away and customer credits

Nachteile

I've been using lightspeed for almost a year now and they literally have a service outage that lasts several hours every week. That means you can't ring up customers and check your inventory when they have an outage since their software is cloud based. This has led to THOUSANDS of dollars in lost sales. I've tried to reach out to my account manager and he does not return my phone calls or emails. I've probably left 3 voicemails and sent 5 emails over the course of 3 weeks and he has not responded to any of them. They told me that they are experiencing these outages due to too many users overloading their system. This has been going on for months and they keep telling me that they are working on a solution but nothing as happened and we continue to lose customers and sales due to their outages. I do NOT recommend using Lightspeed retail under any circumstances. Had I not signed up for a year long contract that I cannot get out of and built a website around their POS, I would have left lightspeed months ago but at this point I'm stuck until they fix their system.

Lightspeed

I love being able to track all expenditures, profit, taxes required, and really all the business challenges I have with lightspeed

I love using LIghtspeed for my day to day inventory control, tracking of sales, tracking employee hours, and all the other daily chores of running a business

It's hard to find negative things to say about lightspeed as they are the best POS I've ever used, but some of their reporting could be a little more extensive

Easy-to-use POS

Great customer support

Vorteile

Light speed Retail Overall Review

I've been using Lightspeed for about three weeks now and am completely satisfied with the customer service and support of the software so far. I looked into so many different companies but it seems that Lightspeed was the only one that had a strong presence not only in-store but online. I needed both to be equally strong. The customer service is 100% legit. The fact that Lightspeed can literally make changes for you is amazing. It's simple and easy to understand. The navigation is pretty straight forward. So far, I feel extremely confident about Lightspeed and it's ability to catapult my business into the 21st century. Also the fact that they don't charge for training and customer support is another winner!

Lightspeed Retail and eCommerce

Vorteile

Easily get products loaded into your retail platform and eCommerce all at once! Everything flows from one side to the other! I am able to load hundreds of products in the matter of a day. The eCommerce has everything you can think of for features and uses. They have more than enough options to fit anyone's needs for design options on the website. The retail software is immaculate! They have EVERYTHING covered!

Nachteile

Make sure you look at the recommended sizes for the pictures on the eCommerce. If you dont use the recommended size or resize your images to that size, the pictures will either blow up way too big to see the entire picture on the website menu or it will be too small for anyone to see. It is VERY picky. But we use Canva and we change the size of the pictures in the matter of seconds and everything is working perfectly. I can post hundreds of products in the matter of a day. There currently is a layaway feature on the retail software but it is not yet available on the eCommerce side yet. They said they are working on it but its not there yet so I cannot say if it is good or not.

Lightspeed is great!

I recommend this POS highly for any type of business you may have.
We enjoy using it in our shop!

Vorteile

It is super easy to use on all platforms.
Easy to teach to employees. Has some great features like a section for customer info and easy to add discounts.
The returns section is very easy to work with unlike other POS products.

Nachteile

There are some features we do not use as they do not pertain to our business but it's good to know they are available for future use.

This software makes it so easy and simple to run a business.

We are using lightspeed for both of our businesses, Interio Furniture and Rug Fashion Store. It was the best decision we could have made. It is so easy to learn. There are so many ways it makes running a business simple. We are very happy with the program and intend to use it for any other locations we open in the future.

How easy it is to learn and how much it helps with everyday transactions.

There really isnt anything that I can think of that I am not happy with.

Positive experience

Vorteile

How pleasing to the eye it is, how there are so many reports and options to work with, how many details it can capture, how all is synced to one system and the Lightspeed staff is fantastic as well. It is so easy to use, help is always around and the system allows for add ons. Would like to eventually take advantage of their Lightspeed Analytics to get the full benefit of this POS.

Nachteile

When entering a massive PO into the system, there are 2 ways to go about it, but sometimes I wish there was a different and more easier way to go about entering such POs. A method that would allow for a quick import, without skewing the styles that have already been created too much. This is just a minor downer that I have managed to get the hang of.

Lightspeed is a great POS system for our business!

Vorteile

Lightspeed is very user friendly and teachable for new employees. Highly recommended!

Nachteile

Sometimes skuvault and lightspeed don't link up like they are supposed to. Lightspeed customer service is always very helpful with problem solving.

A good solid system

Sales Reps should be aware of product limitations

Vorteile

Accessible anywhere. Ecommerce friendly.

Nachteile

Time consuming and monotonous account for merchant processing (fees are removed daily). Incapable with other( you must by their Zebra printer) hardware. Does not work with other ecommerce as they promised. Reports are not very user friendly

We have been using for multiple retail locations, so it's been easy to train new associates.

Effective Inventory Management

Nachteile

The integration with Shopify requires a 3rd party integration tool that is messy. We had a lot of issues getting it to play nice with Shopify.

We tried it and did not suit us.

We had a representative of the company convince us to take the free trial. We were using Shopkeeper at the time and did not like the inventory side of it. With Lightspeed, we did not find much improvement. It was hard to implement and not very easy to use, so we had to pass and stayed with Shopkeep.

Vorteile

It was powerful. It would be great for a restaurant use. However, we were a fast food joint, and it wasn't not the best app for us. Support was great.

Nachteile

Hard to implement. Did not have the integrations we needed. Not compatible with our equipment (Bluetooth printer)

Excellent software for everyday POS activities!

Vorteile

It very easy to use in an everyday basis as well as to configure everything in it, and it also has great reports!

It is missing an everyday inventory calculation that can be very handy to manage costs and purchases in-app.

Our company has been using LightSpeed since version 1.0 came out in 2005. Most of our inventory is high-valued and serialized and LightSpeed has been crucial in our successful management. Powerful inventory reports are a few clicks away... very nice.

We came from POS-IM, another Mac-based POS software. We've evaluated them a few times over the years (most recently about six months ago) and they can't hold a flame to LightSpeed.

LightSpeed is far from perfect, but there's nothing better on a Mac and nothing can touch its features for the price on the PC side. LightSpeed Mobile is a real added bonus that we use daily for inventory lookups and sales creation. We can either complete the sale right on the device, a sled and iPod -- same that Apple uses in their stores, or pass it off to a POS station.

The POS screen is quick and easy to use. The back-end browser is more functional, but can have a bit of lag doing certain tasks (POs with a hundred items, for instance). It was lightning fast in version 2.x, but the database in 3.x has slowed it down. It gets better in every build and hopefully we'll see it return to the 2.x PO speed soon.

LightSpeed's support was incredible a couple years ago, but it certainly took a blow when they started experiencing so much growth. I'm happy to say that support is back to an acceptable manner. When I call, I'll get a CSR who can point me where I need to be. This was a much-needed improvement.

Bottom line is that we can't imagine using another piece of software to run our business. It's powerful, sleek, functional, and certainly packs a wow factor for our customers.

Slow moving inventory can be identified and marked down.

Vorteile

Straightforward and easy to use. Can track summer help to use it.

Nachteile

Cost per inventory is averaged rather than FIFO. Makes your total inventory cost fluctuate from month to month.

In Depth Inventory Management

Great. Loved the customer service, they were very helpful in terms on onboarding.

Vorteile

The depth of features provided by Lightspeed is great. It goes into much detail with the reports available that can help businesses analyse their sales etc.

Nachteile

Lightspeed POS works on MAC unless you are using the web-based portal which can be accessed from anywhere. The learning curve is quite high for the software

Poor Company and Poor POS

It was a terrible experience with this company. They were rude, hard to work with, lied about the program and other things.

Vorteile

Nothing. It was very poorly made
I would not recommend it to any company.
You asked me for proof that I used this company well I have it now.
Just let me know the email address you would like the proof sent to.

Nachteile

It was easy to enter inventory but it was more frustrating to find it also made the existing inventory inaccurate.
It did not go with quick books as stated to me. Many more problems.

RUN! Do not use Lightspeed!

Vorteile

The only pro to this software is that you can check a customer out and that it does have a website.

Nachteile

Their sales people lie, customer service is terrible, reports are not accurate & they do not care about the customer!Their sales people will tell you the software does everything you need, but it will not. The amount of work it takes to enter products is beyond ridiculous. You have to enter the same info multiple times to get it to work right. Customer service is a joke. You wait forever & once you get them on the phone they don't even know how to work the software themselves. When your problem gets elevated to someone who is supposed to know about your issue they tell you to call customer service to get help.

Good but has gone up in price substantially since I first got it

Vorteile

Easy to use, never had to use customer support. Does pretty much everything I need and more. Like the back office features.

Nachteile

As stated in the title. I like to system but every year has increased in price by at least 10%, which they don't seem to think is a big deal. I've had it for 5 yrs....so do the math,but I'm not sure if I can find another system for a small business like mine for cheaper though

Works well for all our retail needs

Vorteile

Ease of functionality. We love the work order function! This system will work for many applications. We use special orders, layaways and work orders. You can do on site or off site sales as it is a cloud based system. I would recommend Lightspeed to anyone in retail!

Nachteile

Need better shrinkage reporting. It takes a long time to get tech support on the phone. We use the chat and call back function often.

Couldn't Live Without It

Awesome Product
