Better than most, but still has room to grow.

Vorteile

The best thing Lightspeed has going is their service. If we have a question or issue, we can call or chat with someone almost 24 hours a day. They are constantly updating and improving the system. Bugs are fixed regularly, and features are often added monthly. They listen to suggestions about product features, and the ability to work from anywhere is incredible. The system is simple to learn, and there are video trainings for almost everything. The system is cross-platform. Importing products from their catalog system makes ordering special items much easier. We use a central warehouse for receiving all of our product, and then distribute to our stores from there. This system is best in class for that. A good web developer can integrate Lightspeed with many other sites and software.

Nachteile

They seem to have grown a little faster than they were prepared for and it has resulted in several outages. There are several tweaks here and there that would greatly enhance usability that simply need to be made. If you lose internet connection, you lose your POS until the connection is restored.

Lightspeed Retail Software

We recently switched from Clover to Lightspeed. We have not got it up and running yet but we are heading in that direction. I am finding that the features are very easy to use.

Vorteile

The ease of use as well as the features it provides. I like that fact that it also imports to Quickbooks desktop.

Nachteile

I do not like that you only have two options of Merchant Service Providers with Lightspeed. I tried to contact these Merchant Service Providers and were unable to get the help I wanted. I ended up going with another Merchant Service Provider outside of the two Lightspeed told me about. However, it has turned out to be more of a headache. So note: Go with one of the providers they tell you about. I guess keep trying until you get someone who is helpful.

Lightspeed

Love the product, customer service on general is excellent. Could have a better follow up system to ensure you are using the product to the max.

Vorteile

Lots of areas to enter customer data. Easy functionality from screen to screen. High inventory section with capability to merge.

Nachteile

Difficult to find in one step an old invoice. Not an easy way to remove supplier names when bulk was added in error.

Great for reporting, but customer service slow or unresponsive at times

Vorteile

Creating and running reports is really easy. Navigating around the system is simple as well.

Nachteile

Customer service and the tech team can be slow to respond and make needed changes to the system.

Great Customer Service

Vorteile

This is the easiest POS yet. My analytics are crystal clear and I had amazing support throughout the implementation process and use of Lightspeed. The Support Team has been helpful every step of the way to make this an easy transition.

Nachteile

NO CONS! This has been the easiest to understand and work with, so much better than our last POS system.

Lightspeed Has Been Awesome For Our New Business!!

Exceptional, having worked with many other pos systems in my career, this is by far and away the easiest and most efficient to use and train on as well. I highly suggest anyone thinking about buying or switching pos systems to give Lightspeed a try, you won't regret it!!

We have been using Lightspeed since early 2009. We are a footwear retailer and we needed an epos system to enable us to expand our business. Lightspeed has enabled us to scale our business online and on the high street successfully without outgrowing Lightspeed. It is very simple to use and the integration was done at an early stage so it did not impact us too much.

With any software there has been a few issues, but these are quickly addressed by support. Hardware add ons are certainly sufficient and not overly expensive. In terms of value for money I don't think there is any software to match Lightspeed and the fact that it is Mac based not only does it look visually good in store, it works!

All the information you require is at hand from PO's, Supplier invoices to Customer invoices etc. This makes customer service so much easier when you can talk to your customer about their specific order or if required to do a stock enquiry.

My only gripe is the extra license required in the UK for ipad use when at this stage it has limited use. When we have full card payment integration this would be acceptable.

Great Product and Customer Service

I have been using Lightspeed Retail for my store for over a year. I have been extremely pleased with it from day 1.
The ease of use, access, on boarding have all been great for me and my company. Customer service staff are awesome and answer all my inquiries in a very timely and efficient manner. If they dont have an answer right away, they get it and return my call or email.

Vorteile

Very easy to use and access. Great customer service. Updates come through as necessary.
Cloud access is perfect. I can work outside the store and still process sales. Check in and see how the day is going, check stock, etc.

Nachteile

A couple of features are still updating. There was a limit on qualities in an inventory matrix that I had issues with. That has already been resolved.

Lightspeed is a great POS system

Vorteile

We have had no issues with Lightspeed POS. We use the system 6 days a week and have no problems. Customer service has always been there when needed ( which is very infrequent ).

Nachteile

I have not found a reason yet.

I really like the fact the POS is base on Ipad and the back office is live on internet from any computer, Really friendly user POS and easy to use the back office.

It took a lot of time o set up the back office but they give us online training to help us out

Nice selling tool

It has helped a lot with the back office bit. Keeping the stock up to date saves me lots of time.

Vorteile

It allows me to keep track of my day to day sales. In case I need any help, customer services are really nice and they are always ready to assist. It also allows me to check my stock left and makes easier to manage the shop.

Nachteile

It has so many features it may take a while to decide which one to use. But is actually just a matter of time, more than a con.

Lightspeed is worth checking into

The more I get into it the more I like it. It is multifaceted without being over complicated. For the most part, it is very intuitive and I can usually go to the help area and find instructions or a video to answer my questions. If you are looking for a user-friendly POS make sure to include Lightspeed in your research.

Vorteile

Intuitive program. Versatile without being complex. Good inventory management system.

Nachteile

You can have up to 5 users but only one POS at a time can be operated unless you pay $ more for an additional POS license.

I am surprised that Light Speed is going after the retail POS market when the do not offer the basic reports that retailers need to analyze their business. We are a one door menswear retail store and after switching from RMS to Light Speed I can no longer generate a sell thru by brand or by commodity (they only offer reports that show what is on hand but not what's been sold and what my sell thru is by percentage). I can no longer determine what my gross margin is as a percentage (only as a dollar figure unless I export to excel), and I can't determine what my markdowns are etc; all the basic reporting that I need to see how my business is running I no longer can pull up a report to analyze.

Layaways can no longer be done, it now takes my staff double the time to close at night, and I wasn't able to export my client information from my old system to Light Speed. After spending $20k on software and new computers, I find I have a nice looking POS system that is nonfunctional. The customer support agrees that Light Speed is lacking proper reporting and that they are working on it.

Lightspeed

I used Light speed at work when dealing with large groups of people at a time. It was easy to train people.

Vorteile

I liked how simple this software was to process returns and save orders. It was also easy to find old orders and attach customer information.

Nachteile

This software never gave me any problems except when it signed out of the internet. This made it difficult to run orders.

Furniture Retail

Vorteile

The fact that I can properly input my inventory into the system and get up to the second updates is great!

Nachteile

As I know that having a furniture retail using Light speed isn't popular, I expect a few glitches but with the issues that I have, their support team is always able to assist and help solve them.

A great choice for hotel & restaurant integration

The overall experience has been great. Lightspeed fills a need in the industry with great integration across a variety of POS/PMS systems. Although I have not had to use it for golf or other service lines, I understand that they also do a seamless job of integrating across virtually any type of hospitality business. Overall it is highly recommended.

Vorteile

Very intuitive platform, great visualizations and strong customizations. Most importantly, the integration between the restaurant POS and the hotel PMS system is key. Lightspeed does this better than any other platform out there. The iPad/touchscreen ordering options are also excellent.

Nachteile

There isn't much to dislike, though the pricing can start to add up depending on the number of registers/POS outlets that you have. This shouldn't be a problem for most smaller operations, however.

Lightspeed Review

Overall it is very easy to use and understand. You can manage inventory and run reports easily. I feel this is very handy for the retail sector.

Vorteile

I really love the reports that are available. i can pull all the information i need such as inventory, costs of goods sold, sales tax, etc. It is very useful for handling sales tax for product and services.

Nachteile

I wish there were additional resources such as in-depth videos helping new business owners understand the system and implement it properly with their business. A customized setup would be very nice because everyone's needs are a little different.

Great POS system - User friendly!

This is a great system! I've been in retail for over 30 years and this is the easiest by far. It does a great deal for you, it is very easy to use and the support that is offered is outstanding. Thank you Lightspeed for having such a great POS system for retail!

It has great features, love the cloud based POS I can pull it up anywhere. It is easy to navigate through and if you are not computer savvy it's. okay it is very user friendly

Nachteile

I would like to see some more reports....Inventory and Profit and Loss. I would like to see a mobile app.

Love LightSpeed

Very Unhappy Customer

It's a very LONG story, but befour I purchased my system I told my rep which Name was [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] what I was looking for which was to start selling ecommerce and he said his team would transfer ALL inventory over and after I bought the system that when they told me I would have to go in and change it myself, and I have a witness that heard the hold story. I ask lightspeed for a refund but they refuse me. They lied to me from the beginning, they refused me from talking with anyone.

Vorteile

I never got to use the system because they wanted to force me to used them for my Merchant, and if you go back when I purchase it and listen to the phone call with [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] you would understand why I am upset.

Easy to learn, teach, and implement!

It is kind of hard to use without a lot of training

We are a retail gift store that has been open for 16 years. We have many different items from many different vendors in our store, the thought of setting up a computerized inventory system after running everything manually for so many years was very intimidating.

We have been using LightSpeed for a few years now and can't believe we functioned without it. We thought we knew what was selling in our store but once we were able to run reports with clear and precise data, we were able to see what was really happening. It makes it possible to respond quickly to the market and our store has changed quite dramatically (for the better) since we started with LightSpeed.

We just opened two new locations and are now utilizing the Multi-Store feature-this feature has saved us a lot of time and makes everything very easy and organized.

The customer support is awesome, very thorough in their responses and assistance.

We researched every POS system on the market and if you are looking for a POS/Inventory system to work with your Apple-look no further, this is it!

Try before you buy free trial can't go wrong.

Vorteile

I love the fact that this has a free trial, there are so many programs out there, but for a unique business like mine, it is very difficult to find something that works perfect, or even works for that matter. Free trial takes all your worries away. I love it.

Nachteile

The only honest thing I can say is that it was kind of bland on the colors as you are using it.. Other then that I can not say that I had one issue with it the entire time I used it

It's easy to use, we have three locations and it's been great for integration. So far it's been great.

Nachteile

There are some pretty hefty fees if you want to integrate multiple stores onto their ecommerce platform, or want to use giftcards on the website. It ends up being pretty expensive.

LightSpeed - One of my best decisions

We started using LightSpeed in May of 2015 after using another product for many years. LightSpeed made the transition as seamless as it could be, translating our old data. Our staff, us managers included, were able to come up to speed quickly, making the transition period easy for our clients as well. We love the power that LightSpeed gives us in maintaining and analyzing our data.

Vorteile

It works as promised, and sometimes even better. The customer service team is very responsive and always cheerful.

Nachteile

There were a couple of weeks of glitches and difficulty contacting customer service, but they have been resolved. Even during that period, you did admit to the problem and continued to maintain communications with us.

Best POS Software I have ever used

Lightspeed Retail is an easy to learn, highly intuitive cloud-based software for the retail POS, but at the same time gives you all the information you need (and then some) to run your small, medium or large business. As we prepare to open a second location, the fact that Lightspeed's multi-store capability keeps inventory synced across all locations is a huge plus

My favorite feature by far is the ability to log into my POS from any computer, pad or phone. The ability to keep track of my business when I am not at my business means a lot to me.

Absolutley recommend to anyone with a bike shop

Lightspeed has revolutionized our POS experience. From receiving to inventory control to sales, layaways and special orders it meets all our needs and more. Our service department uses Lightspeed for all work orders, allowing us to use hooks to quickly find bikes and bar codes to quickly sell out the order when done. The best thing about Lightspeed though is their support. When I run into a problem that I don't know how to solve I've got a representative on the phone or chatting on the computer quickly to get me all sorted out. I highly recommend Lightspeed, especially if you are a bike shop. It's game changing.

I own two mattress stores in Austin, TX and have used LS for over 3 years. Most of the functions on LS are intuitive and the workflow is easy to get a handle on. It is simple enough that I can train a new employee quickly, and yet robust enough that it helps me keep an eye on all the pertinent information.

Some of the initial set up is a bit confusing, but I found the LS staff to be patient and helpful (whether they are talking with me or my book keeper).

We enjoy the fact that the receipts are very customizable and look very nice for a large purchase such as a mattress. I also love the related products feature, we sell in sets and we can build product relationships to reflect that.

The reporting system is great as well. It is not highly intuitive, but once you get the hang of it you can decipher all the information you need. I would like to see improvements in the mobile app as well as in the 'station' settings.

Overall, this is a fantastic product for Mac based retail stores. I love how it functions and love how it feels.

The vendor is simi easy to work with. You have to know your terminology and ask lots of questions about what you actually get vs what you think your getting.

Nachteile

They are not up front with what is lacking in their service and that they do not blend well with many major providers of the services you need to add on. GoDaddy being the biggest issue.

Great POS for iPad and customer interaction on the floor!

Couldn't have found a better retail POS software that works right from my iPad, or phone to check on inventory from the sales floor or ring up customers in line or at vendor holiday shows. Easily place products into a website which has some great free themes to choose from. Love that integrating a blog is there but it's not as well set up as it could be for a profitable blog which is key for any business now. I'm sure they'll have an upgrade soon. Great customer service from lightspeed at any time of day with little wait time.

Not all it is cracked up to be

We are having a very hard time finding a working software that can work in our service are, stores and control our inventory. Oh yes, and did I say it must work with Quickbooks. Well, the Quickbooks interface is horrible. It sends batches of transactions and not the actual customer by customer transaction. Very poor and pretty useless Quickbooks interface.

It also does not work giving the information for customers that pay on account. There are no aging reports at all. How can we efficiently call on customers that owe us money?

It seemed easy at making estimates but aside from that, pretty unusable for us.

I used 3 different programs before finding Lightspeed in 2007 to run my art gallery. Designing my own POS in File Maker was "fun" after a year of using excel. Then we went to POSIM, but it didn't have the end user feel or functionality I wanted.

Ease-of-use (once up and running) and adaptability to different workflows are its strength. The ability to find data (slice and dice) easily with powerful smart finds has simplified our workflows. We operated 3 locations for a time and found the multi-store features invaluable.

While I uses webstore, it is not our focus. But it is so easy to click a button and add the items already in the system to the web that during our busy season it adds an additional 10% or so.

I figured out that if you email support a screen shot of your problem you get better/faster service because they don't have to do as much digging to figure out what your are talking about. Other than that, work with a local reseller/trainer to help make the initial data setup go faster/smoother.

LightSpeed has all the features I was looking for to run a successful business when opening in November 2013...inventory control is key to running a successful business making sure you don't run out of top sellers.

Not much, shopped around for a software system that would benefit the growth of my shop & LightSpeed has it all!

Good POS System but a Little Pricey

Vorteile

The customer service and setup help provided by Lightspeed is second to none. They can be integrated with WooCommerce, albeit after a few tweaks here and there.

Nachteile

The system is a little pricey, but they justify it with customer service and functionality. Since you are technically on their platform if something goes wrong they cover it. Still though, a monthly fee, setup fee and er product sale fee.

Many Functions

The name is completely accurate. It is a quick workhorse with a good variety of functions for our small business.

Vorteile

We use it for inventory, POS, and time clock. Everyone seems to catch on pretty quickly in training. We rarely encounter hiccups. It's convenient to use for accessing inventory from our different locations.

Nachteile

Warehouse functionality maybe? It may already have some of that and our admins just haven't clued us in.

Very helpful and offer in depth training

We are in the process of transitioning to Lightspeed from RMS and they have already been hands down more helpful and offered better resources to train our staff and smooth our transition over what we'd previously used. We are very happy with the support from the staff so far.

Scheduling features seem to be missing natively, and would be appreciated.

Super easy transition from server-based POS system to web based POS system.

Overall, very happy with this software. We previously worked with a company that had hidden fees, no hidden fees with Lightspeed. They are upfront about everything.

Vorteile

Easy to use software. Setting up the basic store was simple. It took a couple of weeks until we wrapped our heads around data input, but once we did and started uploading data from spreadsheets, it was a breeze. The e-commerce site is slick. Easy to use and the finished product looks like a million bucks. Lastly

Nachteile

The one major downfall of this software is the way they treat case-packs. They treat them as boxes and it is very confusing. We decided not to use case-packs because of it.

Toy software. Looks shiny but without any substance. Xsilva should have made more progress with this software considering it's something like 5 years old. A lot of elementary functionality is missing. Lightspeed is fragile and crashes a lot, especially in POS mode. Lightspeed is infrequently updated and lot of missing features that users request never get implemented. POS Mode is severely lacking features such as voiding a sale, and ability to close out a register. POS mode has trouble after more than 5-6 items are adding because it doesn't automatically refocus on the last line item. Furthermore there are all sorts of issues relating to scanning products, such as that you need to manually enter the search field in order for scans to go through. Support acknowledges known issues by stating that they may or may not be resolved some time in the future.

You'd think that the company would try to maintain a standard thats expected in the mac ecosystem. Steve Jobs is probably rolling in his grave.

Having our POS system in the cloud has allowed us to devote hardware and software IT resources to other areas of our business. Having the ability to access our POS at home, on the road, and on our phones has made us more organized, more productive, and smarter with our purchasing decisions. I have been able to reduce our inventory on hand by about 20%.

Vorteile

Ease of use, simple and fast loading pages, no more hardware and software issues for our store to deal with. Work order management is very well thought out and organized. No more data to backup.

Nachteile

Wish they had more users included in our single cash register plan. We have a lot of part-time summer help.

We've been using LightSpeed since we opened and I will say that they have a tremendous sales & support staff. We are a retail apparel environment that stocks a lot of "Style Numbers" and the program issues a separate number for each size of each style of each color.

The set up of the system was easy. I didn't go through a reseller, just the home company. My employees get it easier than any system I've used at previous shops. The only issues I have with it are in the reporting side. They cannot (from what I've been told) issue a report that gives you a simple snapshot of "Item - Recieved - Sold - On Hand". If you have a list of the reporting needs you have, then research if LightSpeed has it, it'll save you some headaches later when you realize you can't find the data you need and have to look for a different way to get it. From what I understand, LightSpeed is working on the functionality of their reporting, so that will be nice. All in all, a very good system for the price.
