Easy to use software!
Vorteile
I like how Lightspeed is pretty straight forward, it is easy to show others how to use the different functionalities.
Nachteile
I wish there was a way to disable the "Cash" option so that only Credit/Debit card can be chosen for payment.

Used to be a great, no longer the case. it's now badly flawed!

It used to work wonderfully well until an upgrade about six months ago.
Nachteile
There are a number of major bugs with the system when creating a customer order. Essentially, there is a flaw that will not allow certain steps to be taken. One must log out of Lightspeed and then log back in. This can take minutes and something other POS users on other terminals will need to log out to get this to work. Try telling a retail customer who you are trying to serve that you have to restart your system and do this continuously through the day. Sounds like fun? No it isn't. Lightspeed have just now launched a new update - 2015.1.2.0 (r93) and they've even redesigned their logo. Do you think they've fixed this glaring bug? Nope they haven't. It's been 6 months guys.

Was great for the first year or so, but the last 3-4 months spotty.
Vorteile
Cloud-based ability to work on inventory at home. I spent 6 months researching dozens of POS systems and it was the only one that had all the features our bookstore needed.
Nachteile
Frequent outages, especially during busy times at our store. We've lost thousands in sales the past few months due to server problems on Lightspeed's end. They don't seem to have the money or qualified staff to implement infrastructure changes quickly and competently.

Eskala Mountain Sports review
Beside the small issues, I am very happy with lightspeed, makes my job easier and they have a great customer service.
Vorteile
It is easy to learn and they are very good helping when help is need it. The reports are useful and make the accounting and inventory systems easy.
Nachteile
has a small issues like the cents do not round or the look of the sale screen for the PC is not like the one for MAC or an Ipad.

1 - The light speed system crashes a lot.
2 - I can't get into the light speed browser or what I would call back office to tweak items during sale on POS. Also, it does not save held transactions when you have to go to browser.
3 - I can not delete items you put in ever.
4 - The support is very slow and not open 24/7 so if your system is down, its down.
5 - The system seems to close down when we have a sale on hold for long periods which is needed.
6 - Be careful when putting in inventory; use all caps or all lower case because of the way stuff pops up.
We would really like to be able to go back and forth freely between the Lightspeed browser and POS without shutting one or the other off. We would like held transactions to stay until deleted on the POS or lets say if i have to shut down my POS to go to light speed browser to fix something we need, it should save held transactions so I can go straight back to my sale and not have to redo it all again.

Works well!
Overall, I've had a good experience with Lightspeed. I like that they have a variety of reports and that it's easy to use. The interface itself could use a few updates, but overall it works well!

There are many different reports that you can pull, which is important and much appreciated as a bookkeeper.
Nachteile
Although it's easy to navigate around the program, I feel like they could use a bit of a facelift. There could definitely be some updates.

Have been live on the system 3 months - can't wait to change in the future.
took 2 months to replace the "lightspeed server" that was a lemon. Went down every few days, but they wanted "sufficient documentation" that it was bad. Seriously!!!!!! just fix it after the 3, 4, or 5th time......

has some nice features, but terrible customer service.....
Nachteile
Customer service. To many levels of people to go through to get something taken care of and no one can make a decision. They give excuses why, but don't ever get to the point. They need to diminsh the levels of management to go through to get anything accomplished or at the least better communication between the levels.

Lightspeed started with a brilliant value proposition: a Point of Sale system that integrates with well-known web store solutions (e.g.-Magento), allowing small retail to go online with an integrated platform.
Nachteile
Unfortunately, the software doesn't work the way we want. We've had a support ticket open for five weeks on data corruption that renders our webstore completely unusable. On top of this, they changed pricing after we purchased it, now requiring a constant support contract or forcing us into a much more expensive subscription model.

Great POS
We vetted many POS companies before choosing this one. We have been a client since November; and, I must say that I am very please with the on-boarding process, the response time of customer service and the ease of use of the POS system. The system is very user friendly and easy to learn. To date, I am very pleased with my selection and look forward to continuing the partnership with Lightspeed.

We found this software very easy to use and set-up. It is easy to train the staff and has many functions that will make it easy to track sales, employees time and e-commerce results.

Customer service is the Best!
Lightspeed is a great product, very easy to use and the customer service is excellent.
Vorteile
The customer service is probably my favorite feature of Lightspeed, not only the live chats with techs, but the videos are great. After 5 years of using Lightspeed I'm still finding new and improved features to help make my life easier.
Nachteile
Lightspeed is a little on the pricey side, about 3 times a year we need an extra register because we run a remote location, the cost for the use of an extra register is not worth the time and effort to do stuff by hand.

Glad we switched to Lightspeed!
We opened our brick and mortar bicycle retail and service shop July this year. We started with Vend POS, but that was not well suited for our labor-heavy business model. Shortly thereafter we transitioned to Lightspeed, and could not be more pleased. Nearly all our vendor catalogs are already in Lightspeed, so receiving inventory is easy. Further, Lightspeed's item types simplify selling bulk items, tracking serial numbers, etc. Most of all, we appreciate the ease with which we can now log customers, their bicycle information, and the services we perform for them, all in tandem with each other.
I would highly recommend Lightspeed to anyone operating a bicycle shop!

I have always found that support is extremely helpful and will even call back to follow up. When their is a Canada wide issue the wait times are longer but it is very unusual for me to wait any longer then 5 minutes.
Vorteile
The ease of updating information is extremely nice for our restaurant. When it is busy the kitchen does not get clogged up because our servers can print the orders before moving on to the next table.
Nachteile
We only have a couple of cons: first that the developer has yet to enable two colour printing on the kitchen bills. Second any power surge I need to update the IP address on both printers.

Breaks Down Constantly
Vorteile
Great program when it works. I wish it worked as they said it would because it would be the best program.
Nachteile
They are too cheap to pay for enough server farms to run the amount of customers they have to be prepared for hours of blackouts every month several times a month. Constant amount of lost sales. I HATE this company.

Great Experience with Lightspeed!
Vorteile
I found Lightspeed's system to be way more intuitive than other POS systems I have used in the past. This was really important to me as a business owner, because we are going to have to train employees as well. The hours saved with Lightspeed's interface will help pay for itself. Because it is cloud-based, I can easily log in from home or while away when important things come up.
Nachteile
I can't attach a picture to a customer record. I would also like the ability to include a special order information on a purchase order so I can send this directly to a vendor. Also, better reporting for special orders as we do lots of them. I want to see the money I have coming in in the future, not just closed orders.

The best choice for our business - hands down.
Vorteile
The software was easy to set up and is intuitive to use. From handling basic transactions to reporting, inventory management, and even building our web store, LightSpeed has made every step efficient and effective. Every person we've dealt with from our initial research phase through implementation has been knowledgeable and helpful. We definitely made the right decision.
Nachteile
Honestly, the only thing I don't like is that I always have to hit Search after selecting dates for a report (for example) or finding an item in inventory when searching by category. And the search button is not located near where the search field is, so I always forget to look over to the right and hit it. But that's about it.

Lightspeed is a lifesaver.
We opened a small retail store and in the first 3 months went through 2 other POS systems. We had not chosen Lightspeed initially because of poor reviews. However, after using two other systems which couldn't do half of what we needed, Lightspeed was a delightful surprise. We haven't had any of the problems we had heard about and have consistently had good service and results with the program.

Flexible, robust. Has ability to do layaway, discounts, full item descriptors.
Nachteile
Some features must be done in the back office. Layaway can be a little complicated to complete from the sales register.

Software Issues, Bad Service!

After using LS for a year and half, I'm ditching it because of all the problems I've had with this program and the lack of customer service.
Nachteile
We have been using this product for 1.5 years, and it lacks basic needs that small brick-and-mortar retail stores need, like customer rewards (you have to go through a 3rd party who charges as much for the module as it costs for LS) and detailed reports (reports are very limited and unchangeable/revisable). Support is lacking and they very rarely ever give a straight answer or interact with their own forums. And now the news is that they are moving to a cloud-based system. And we all know how insecure online systems are!

Bait and switch
We are a small non-profit. We purchased a five year contract for lightspeed and webstore so we could lock in a decent rate. We are less than two years into our contract. We have recently been informed that they are discontinuing the "webstore" and you have to upgrade to the new ecommerce. The new ecommerce is more expensive (now they limit the number of items you can have online at each price level) and they are asking us for another $!!!

Lightspeed POS is a turnkey operation.
Vorteile
I really like how simple the system is to use. The fact that it is cloud based makes it possible for me, as a small business owner to work on administrative tasks from another computer. We use lightspeed to a dedicated PC register and have no problem logging into a seperate computer for inventory management tasks such as placing POs, Checking in inventory, modifying prices, and such. I find value in the fact that an ecommerce module is readily available and all programming is user friendly. program will work (with an additional module.) TONS of free/included tech assistance. Automatically imported products via catlogs.<--- saves a ton of time!
Nachteile
We initially took interest for the ecommerce module but currently the ecommerce ability will not function with serialized items. Secondly, im having difficulty using my current credit card processor.

We switched off another POS that really didn't cut it. Lightspeed is fast and easy to use as well as feature driven.

Some features could use added. Not being able to sell something we have or it auto adding if it sees 0 in inventory messes things up sometimes.

You will lose sales with Lightspeed.
Vorteile
Not much anymore. You can easily create service orders, estimates, and invoices. The interface is pretty. Receipts look professional and contain bar codes for scanning.
Nachteile
The system "kick you out" for some unknown reasons and you are unable to log back in. This has happened while customers were in the shop resulting in loss of sales.

Just dont do it there are to many other better options out there.
Nachteile
Stay away from this company we have data corruption, items being changed automatically and customers missing. We have a discrepancy on our sales tax and luckily caught before the IRS did.

Service at its perfection
Speedy, efficient, kind (and very patient) team. Super helpful
Vorteile
I don't know how you can get a better service. Product is simple to use.
Pricing model is easy to understand.
Nachteile
Didn't find any cons yet. Not sure how they can improve the service even more.

The simplest and most versatile POS we could have ever asked for
Vorteile
Very easy and intuitive software. It just makes sense! Besides that, customer service has been delightful to work with. This is really everything we could possibly ask for in a POS company.
Nachteile
Very hard to think of a con for this product and vendor. If I HAD to pick something I would say that due to the product being internet based, at times we will have very brief outages, but this is obviously not the fault of the vendor whatsoever, just the nature of the design.
