The ability to integrate your file structure, database structure, and script into a single view is absolutely crucial. Split windows, git integration, etc. are all great to have as well. Being able to pull up tables and code side by side is the real winner though, as it greatly reduces the need for task switching.

Nachteile

There is somewhat of a learning curve, obviously it helps to have someone on your team who knows the ins and outs of set up. The only area I found slightly lacking was the inability to pin or organize tabs. For example, one might want to keep tabs for Python scrips to one side, and those for SQL query consoles to the other (or group tabs by project, etc.)

The hardware resources it consumes and the memory leak that takes place gradually if the software is left open. The paid features and pros are outweight when using VScode to work on web development, the experience is inferior to VScode and it is also a free product. Lastly, better documentation on onboarding and setting things up, ie. How can I setup my python django server and have it setup properly with my venv and docker? The general setup steps are outlined but they are not specific enough.

Its easy to use and the documentation is well written. Also it is nice to develop Software with the tools. Other tools from them are also great.

I dont realy see any cons, the software has everything it needs and they know what they are doing.

It was recommended at the start of my degree, later on i just like it.

Vorteile

IntelliJ is an extremely feature rick integrated development environment. If there is a feature you like or need in regards to IDE IntelliJ likely already has it. One feature that stands out is their debugger. With so many ways to manipulate and evaluate code with IntelliJ, debugging has become significantly easier.

Nachteile

The one downside in my option to IntelliJ's feature rich environment is that it can be overly complicated and even a little brittle in some cases when not properly configured. With so many things to remember or configure properly setting up a large project can be fairly difficult. With that in mind it should also be noted that IntelliJ's documentation is helpful in most cases but due to the complexity can come up lacking at times.

It's a simple software when you get used to it. It has a several number of functionalities, integrations and it's very helpful for developers. I use Java, JavaEE, JSF, PrimeFaces, Hibernate and several features, and this software is quite impressive.

Nachteile

The learning curve is quite long, but this is not a big issue.

I tried several different products, to find the one with most attractive settings for any kind of development.

Vorteile

IntelliJ IDEA is good coding IDE. It is a java integrated development environment. Very easy to use. Basically I have use it for develop Java play application(play framework). In my experience IntelliJ IDEA is very good development environment for developing computer software. Very easy to add libraries and other development dependencies. It is also improve developer productivity. IntelliJ IDEA is show coding errors and warnings (compile errors, warnings of variable usage, spelling mistakes and etc.). We can debug code using IntelliJ IDEA. it is very useful for developers, When going to fix a bug. Also this IDE support the version control systems such as GitHub, Bitbucket.

Nachteile

IntelliJ IDEA require the higher memory requirement. in my view, it is the main disadvantage of IntelliJ IDEA, I have faced.

It streamlines my project workflow to a great extent. It integrates Github well, the autocomplete feature works flawlessly and the debugger saves me a lot of time. Even GUI programming and XML is very usable in the software. It was very easy to adapt to GUI designing in both JavaFX as well as XML in Android Studio.

Nachteile

There was nothing specific but I find it really hard to adapt to other Softwares now that I've adjusted to the IDE. I always find features lacking in other IDEs which always require extensions.

Vorteile

This IDE saved me so many times! It can literally do anything. There's so many features all you have to do is a quick google and you'll find out how it is possible with a few clicks.

Nachteile

The UI could be better. Especially things like adding new bundles (usually not crucial stuff) and editing the looks could take a lot of time even though it is possible.

Other issue is its high CPU usage. I'm running it in a new 2018 (currently newest) Macbook Pro and sometimes it cannot handle it. The Mac gets hot in no time but also I had a few times (over months) of crashing.

Platform performance is highly depend on our computer resources and it would be great if having a RAM which is more than 4GB. It will take little bit time to startup the process with the platform if we are having less powerful computer resources.

IntelliJ IDEA is my go-to IDE when it comes to Java programming. No other IDE company has come close to JetBrains in this field. I'm very satisfied with the features, mostly the in-line debugging (variable's value displayed along the line it's defined). The next best thing is the code suggestion. It's extremely intelligent and outstanding, compared to other IDE. The color scheme is also very appropriate, from the background to the color code of different word roles (keywords, members, methods, etc.) in the code. They're all harmonious.

Nachteile

Need more work on the watch-expression feature. If a variable has only one member attribute (it is designed so in the library), it should be ignored automatically and the IDE should go deeper until there are more than one member, or cannot go deeper. It's like browsing for the content of a folder, inside a folder there's only one folder, so just auto jump into that folder until you reach a file, or there are two folders and you need user's instruction on which folder to continue. The IDE is so heavy to run, it's always listed as the only app that consumes significant energy. Occasionally the code suggestion is frozen due to heavy load and the code coloring stops working.

Keywords are available for typing some commands quickly, for example: sout. makes it faster to write code. There are different themes that can be adjusted according to the ambient light.

Even simple code takes a long time to run.

I love the UI and predictive suggestions that come with the software. The IDE is a well rounded and polished software that is significantly worth upgrading from the free counterparts. If you're a multi language programmer, jet brains offers several IDE's that supports any languages you can code in, a plus here as all the IDE's have similar UI and UX that allows to become accustom to.

The amount of plugins and support you get while coding, has a helpful plugin for any language you prefer, from Java to Python to Kotlin, this IDE has made coding more manageable for me as it provides suggestions for naming conventions as well.

It is a bit extensive and can be a bit jarring for new students to learn as it has so many things to offer.

I have used IntelliJ IDEA for software development in Java and Kotlin for 6 months, and I must say that I have been impressed with the richness of its features and ease of use. The tool offers a range of advanced features such as code auto-completion, code refactoring, debugging, code analysis, version control, framework integration, and much more, which has allowed me to become more efficient and develop high-quality applications in a short amount of time.

However, the tool can be costly for individual users, especially if you opt for the Ultimate edition. Additionally, some features may be difficult for beginners to master, which may take some time to get used to. Nevertheless, once you have mastered the tool, you can become very productive and produce quality code.

IntelliJ Idea is GREAT for keeping the codebase clean and consistent in terms of codestyle.
Keyboard shortcuts by default are easy to remember (and fully customisable), which increases the speed of development. Additionally there are plenty of refactoring actions you can take out of the box. All this comes with several plugins available in the store and loads of free graphical customisations.
Several updates every year keep adding more and more improvements/features.

The only issue I had in my experience is that it tends to take a good chunk of memory on old computers, and even changing the maximum heap size, it still needs a substantial amount of it.

Currently, I have used IntelliJ IDEA to programming with Java language with angular framework. I was able to develop smooth applications and websites with the help of IntelliJ IDEA. Platform is most suitable for Java developments.We can easily setup the IDE and there are themes which we can use to our work space and be more comfortable with the working space. Great supportive team and there are developer communities which we can get the help if we have any issues.

Nachteile

With its features, IDE is heavily use our computer resources and computer might get slow if we are using less than 4GB ram.It would be great if we can have more than 4GB ram ,if we considering to use IntelliJ IDEA for coding.

Java is my first language, but IntelliJ supports so many more. The software is extremely intuitive and almost always knows what I want to do next just by using the context of my keystrokes.

With all great software products there comes a price, sometimes in money and sometimes in time. While IntelliJ is more expensive than I'd like for it to be, it does save me a lot more time than if I was using Eclipse or VS Code.

I have had the opportunity to use this IDE for almost a year already in it's Android "flavor". I'd simply would bot be able to conceive my development without a tool like this one. It makes the whole process a delight for developers that don't have to care about integrating this tool with some others like builders or version controllers. All is already included here. It really helps a great deal to analyze that your code actually makes sense and everything is in check which saves you an enormous amount of time in fixing the code before making your build.

So far I haven't been able to find a single thing I dislike about Android Studio. It might not be the easiest IDE to work with but there is plenty of documentation online to get you started.

I have been using idellij idea as a IDE for Java web development along with my team members, it's a great tool if you are going to do Java development, it provides template for new app from scratch, builtin feature like maven and gradle make your work lot easier. You can explore project in different way, project view, package view. Plugin support is great, you can get extra functionalities by just adding plugin. As lot of people use itellij idea for Java projects as compare eclipse so you get lot of online community support.

Nachteile

You need a powerful machine to run itellij idea, it's heavy tool and run slow sometime when indexing files.
User interface is not that easy for new users, you need time to be familiar with the tool.

il pacchetto enterprise è un po' pesante, manca il supporto a docker e ogni tanto la console lagga. Pur essendo un software professionale fatto molto bene, ritengo ingiustificato il prezzo dato che ci sono altri software che fanno le stesse cose a prezzi inferiori o addirittura Gratis.

IntelliJ IDEA is a great Java IDE, the code completion is top notch and saves me so much effort at work. The advanced refactoring, numerous editor options and great VCS/build tool integration helps a ton as well. Can't say enough about how much I love this software.

A small annoyance with it is dealing with the licensing, it'd be nicer if they let you keep versions up until your subscription lapses instead of "downgrading" you. I know a few people have been burned by this while waiting on getting their licenses renewed due to corporate bureaucracy etc :/

Integration with Team Foundation Server(TFS) is not good. IntelliJ says it should be good, but my experience tells otherwise.

The User Interface is very user-friendly and smooth which helps in settings and configurations.

It is heavy in resources because it contains various features sometimes loading takes time especially during building projects. Too many updates can be frustrating but it helps to make it bug-free for us. The Ultimate edition is a bit expensive. But a free trial is available.

Other IDEs for many programming languages are based on this product, somehow it created kind of an IDE standard. Thanks to this, switching between programming languages is fast and easy. Shortcuts, navigation and layouts are great and similar between different projects and technologies which is very important feature for me. IDE itself is powerful and cross-platform, intuitive and efficient.

Nachteile

Every major IDE update causes loosing previous layout configuration - it is annoying when I need to arrange all tabs and windows from scratch.

Very good IDE for user to store and work on java based projects . Lot of inbuild tools and functionality which can be used easily by end user. Storing , searching etc made very easy.

And excellent features for a comfortable and fast editing/programming

The automatic preselection of words/lines is (for me) in most use cases not helpful but leads to errors.
Sometimes a token is fully selected, sometimes it is not.
Sometimes even a click between characters does not unselect.
This often results in deleting a complete line when just a command should have been inserted.

This is of course a very personal "feeling", but is an annoying thing.

Computers with fewer RAMS can't use it effectively as it makes use of a lot of RAM and slows down systems performance.

Makes writing code faster and efficient. Faster in opening the tool. Ease of moving around the code while debugging or analysing. Autoscroll from Source is a very handy option even though its a minor thing.

Nachteile

I can execute DB scripts in IntelliJ instead of using one more tool like DB Visualiser/Squirrel, but I couldn't figure out a way to save these scripts and move them again to other project. Once I switch workspace my old script file is gone and I have to again write new scripts if I need to execute them.
Other problem I face is creating jbpm workflows, I feel eclipse is easier in this.
