For instance, I applied it as a project manager for a multi-phase construction project and found the real time ability to track progress, allocate resources, and adjust timelines as needed to be tremendously valuable.

I like the task management and scheduling of tasks. Since I work in agile framework, this tool is helpful in aligning epics ik an efficient way and manage them according to customer expectations and deadlines. It also comes with integration with tools like microsoft 365 , hence collaboration becomes easier for us. It enables us to ensure transparency throughout the sprint with respect to progress of tasks.

Nachteile

Initially the learning time is slightly higher. Also sometimes it is slow, may be due to network issues or lag. In MacOS, sometimes I find it a bit more slow. But overall is a good product

Microsoft Project (in the version that you install on your computer) is a tool that has been around for a long time, and therefore has a number of sophisticated features and menus that many more modern tools don't offer.

At least in theory, MS Project can link several separate projects from different locations. In theory, I did not manage to get this link done, but rather my application crashed. The reason can be that I did something wrong and that other users can make this work, in that case I would say it is not intuitive and has pitfalls.
A MAJOR weakness of MS Project in the online version is that I could not make MS Project display the name of a task in the Gantt chard next to or within the displayed bar. Our project plans consist of a huge number - in some cases more than a hundred - hierarchical tasks where many of them are linked to predecessors so we end up with a complicated plan of a huge number of bars in the Gantt chart that are connected by many arrows. However, without seeing the name of the task next to the bar, the user has to move his eyes to the far left of the monitor to read the text and learn what the bar means. If your eye accidentally skips a row while doing this, you get confused. I believe that because of that (and many other features that are missing compared to the installed version of MS Project) the online version of MS Project - at least for my purposes - is useless.

Hard to say. Honestly it is a tool you are forced to use more than a tool you have pleasure to use. You have to used it when working on highly regulated markets and managing traditional large teams in waterfall projects. It has all the features you need to manage a big project, and I particularly appreciate the possibility of managing sub-projects in the same file.

Nachteile

The reporting features lag behind many other competitors. It is buggy if you try to do complex reports with big gantt files. Also, there is little room for customisation of the gantt bar if you want to build attractive graphics. I would also appreciate if Microsoft could integrate Copilot into MS Project to help with analysis.

This software facilitates the most precious platform to interpret the tasks and milestones of your projects and also the timeframe of the project. So it is very easy to monitor and track your projects timely through MS project.

So far MS project helped me with the tasks which I wanted to do with it so not yet observed any major issue with it.

I love the idea of using Microsoft project & have heard others speak very highly of it. I know it has to be one of the more popular software programs in the industry because of how many of my peers are using it. And have been for many, many years. For me, the software was just a little too intimidating. I wish I would have taken advantage of the free online training & courses prior to diving in. I most likely could have got the hang of things & would have felt comfortable presenting it to my team.

Nachteile

Microsoft Projects has such good intentions with this software but I truly just felt it was a too complex & difficult to navigate on the scale I needed it for. I sometimes wish I would have given it more time & may decide to go back to it in the future but for now we switched back to smartsheet as it gets the job done & takes less brain power for me. Which lately has been running close to empty!
