I had a client with four months of sales tax records in PDF, some 1,450 pages long. They wanted all those in Excel format with no page breaks, headers, or subtotals for the state auditors. I downloaded Able2Extract and discovered how to set a template. With that established, I had their sales tax records in Excel in less than 36 hours. I was very pleased.

The initial learning curve can be a little complex, but that can also be the result of the format you are attempting to convert from.

This program failed to perform as promised. It did not transfer lines to my DWG program, it transferred characters to generate the look of lines. When my engineers zoomed in to work with the drawings there was no lines that were workable.

IT is a great tool for individuals, students and company's who work with PDFs very frequently. It's OCR technology is one of its best features which I mostly use, it is quite helpful when modifying assignment templates that are given to me in PDF format. Another benefit is the software's ability to create PDFs from other file formats, which makes it easy to combine Word and Excel documents into a single PDF that is ideal for turning in assignments. The security tools are also very helpful, especially when it comes to adding digital signatures to documents that require one necessary and adding passwords to secure important PDFs.

Nachteile

While Able2Extract Professional 20 is great for many groups, its pricing is a major drawback, especially for students. The license to use the software is $199 which is quite expensive. I believe students should at least be discounted as not many people who require this software have $ 199

My focus is converting complex PDF's to Excel and PowerPoint files. The software has gotten better, more convenient, and faster over the very many years that I have owned their various versions. This latest version that I just got (Able2Extract Pro 19) has really replaced my need to use Acrobat Pro. I also just used their batch mode to go from PDF to excel on twenty-six 32 page files. In minutes it was done- and done accurately.

I've used this software for a long time now - many years. As translators clients often provided material either from another platform or format. In order to ensure timely delivery, the copy has to be converted into a basic format conducive to seamless translation of copy.

Recently it has become necessary to couple Able2Extract with additional software to covert financial statements in PDF into a spreadsheet format without generating coded copy. Unfortunately, I have been able to successfully download the recommended software without an error message. Hence progress comes to a grinding halt.

In my role, I need to transfer numbers from pdfs onto spreadsheets. Prior to using this software everything was done manually. Able2Extract has made this process so easy. We have been using this product for almost 10 years now!

I have no cons with this software. It does everything that we want it to quickly and easily. Would recommend to anyone who needs to transfer data from a pdf into an excel spreadsheet.

The OCR and conversion of pdf to Excel or Word is great, and having a piece of stand-alone software is far superior to an online subscription.

To hand type the huge amounts of data would be expensive, by scanning and converting it is relatively simple to do. Able2extract drag and drop and selection capability works really well.

Many steps I normally would go through manually are now automatically done. Other similar tools will either let you split the data manually before extracting, or will fully do it on their own while extracing it on a single click. This is the first time I used a tool that does both, as it pre-split data and then lets me adjust it before extracting. This is a game changer.

Nachteile

The adjustments before extraction (such as adding a column, removing a table, etc.) could be more fluid. If I need to add 5 new columns, I should not have to click 10 times back and forth, as I currently have to (I click on "Add Column" once, then on the column to add, then on "Add Column" again, then on the second column, etc.)

In my job, converting pdf to Excel is critical. This license provides me the capability of doing that work with minimal conversion issues. The only problem I had was converting a pdf file that had handwriting on it.

Ease of use. I can train a worker to use it in well in under two hours. It is also more accurate than any other stand alone OCR software I've experimented with. I've downloaded and used free trials of at least four other OCR software programs, and they don't do as good of a job at converting the fairly hard to convert (very old) images of tables I'm converting to data files.

Version 12 had just one new feature for converting, and Version 11 the year before had no new features. I was really looking forward to 12, because I was hoping they would add some of the suggestions I've made, but was disappointed. In 12, one has more of an ability to apply the same table structure to non-consecutive pages, but it has a bug and does not work well. My worker actually went back to using 11, she says 12 is bad. Some of the features I keep asking them for: 1) be able to specify that a column is nothing but numbers when manually setting table structures. This seems simple to program. 2) produce uncertainty estimates in cells next to the data table that is produced. This could speed up cleaning the resulting data file a lot. The program knows when it's uncertain, just have it report this. 3) Allow more keyboard shortcuts when setting up tables manually. It is common when setting up table structures to switch between "add column" (i.e., "add a column divider") and "delete column." It's often easier to just go through the entire file one time to add column breaks, and then go back a second time deleting unwanted column dividers. This is inefficient. 4) One should have the ability to specify in advance the number of columns tables will have before having Able2Extract set table structures. This is the first step of manually setting table structures as well as done in automatically converting. It's often faster to just delete all the tables, apply one tab

I like the quick customer service, which was the reason I canceled a previous subscription from a company that took days to respond. The price point was roughly twice of that of the previous subscription, but I made it clear I was spending to get on-the-day assistance. I've gotten that. But the software does not work as it should, see below.

The main reason to purchase pdf software is to be able to edit and fill pdfs. This one *looks* like it will do what Adobe and others do, but it doesn't. When using the Enter Text function, it is not supple or productive. Changing the font is a mystery, the guide for the text entering function takes you to the field you want to enter, but it is not clear where the text will land so it is clunky and difficult to produce a professional result. Reaching out to support just yielded a tech who asked for the document then responded that he/she had no problem with it (I hate that). Investintech wants me to purchase a separate support subscription (not expensive) and I would, if the basic necessary functions worked better.

Able2Extract Professional is very capable software. If you're looking for a way to automate moving static PDF charts and tables into Excel sheets with minimal errors or fuss, skip Adobe and get this.

Able2Extract could be much more than the sum of its parts if the developer focused on use cases beyond just conversions to MS Office applications.

In our business a lot of our customers have legacy pdf pricing documents that contain multitudes of pricing grid matrices, Before we dicovered this software we would spend days manually inputting the figures into spreadsheets, this could leave us open to human error & costly mistakes. We tried a few other similar software products, but they never extracted the data we needed correctly. We had almost given up, then I found this product & it has changed the way we work for the better

Features I rely on most is the ability to create consistent templates that can be efficiently be applied across large documents. I enjoy the freedom to skip columns and set collums as a key for row creation.

Nachteile

Some documents raise error messages and sometimes processes abort at an advanced stage of time input. Sometimes within the same document, certain pages cannot be processed. The product works great when the entire document is aligned properly and has an consistent text overlay. German special characters, maybe in earlier versions where not recognized. A2E is fantastic where it performs well, however, is not yet the only ocr solution required in all instances.

Nachteile

Once converted to word the word doc contains format codes that need to be adjusted. It would be better to convert to WordPerfect since it easier in WordPerfect to change format codes.

3. Retrieved data are often accurate from the sources
4. Enable users to convert the retrieved data to many file types

1. Cannot recognize handwritten words

3. Data not capturing when there are images frequently
4. Imaged text cannot be separated and grant the output
